I am so jealous LadyL. Have lost all interest in work now.

Sorry re your dh's job Franch but good news re home birth.

Entered third trimester today and nesting instinct kicking in in a big way. Plans to tackle each room one by one and try and declutter. Oxfam should do well out of us. May finally have to give up all my lovely size 10 and the tight size 12 stuff and admit that its probably not ever going to fit again (it didnt before I got pregnant so what's the chance now!)

franch · 30/05/2005 11:36

Thanks Boompi. Oh, I must be in the 3rd trimester too then - amazing how you lose track 2nd time round!

Some books say 25 weeks is start but others say 26, which makes more sense to me. I am getting a bit bored now - even though all my friends with kids say enjoy the peace!

pooka · 30/05/2005 13:57

Oooh - so I'm also in the 3rd trimester! Where has the time gone?
Did think of water pool at home, but really not sure if I can be bothered with setting it up beforehand, having it sitting in my sitting room until I'm ready, and all the hassle involved. May change my mind though. Who did you book our pool with Franch?
I also feel very big, and loads of indigestion. Makes me wonder if I'm having a boy this time. I know that so long as he baby's healthy, that's all that matters, but I think deep down I would rather have another girl. Partly because was sorting dd's clothes and kept coming across things I loved and would like to be used again, and also keep thinking about the nappy changing logistics with boy's bit . A friend has a boy (after having a girl last time) and said she finds it really wierd how much the bits get in the way, stick to thighs and each other! Girls are so "neat"!
Also wondering whether this one will be on time, or early. dd was born on due date. Hope this baby is actually a little (note: a little) late, as dh due to be best man 4 hours drive away on due date and would rather the babe is born in September so would be oldest rather than youngest in academic year. Silly things to be preoccupied with, I know, but humour me!
So glad to not be working now - my mother and mother in law each have dd for a day and a half between them each week, and so have had the opportunity to spend quality me-time swimming, lunching, cleaning (ho hum) and just beng off duty which is an absolute luxury.
Anyway - hope everyone is enjoying the Bank Holiday.

PiccadillyCircus · 31/05/2005 08:39

Morning everyone .

Hope you all had good weekends; my mum and dad came down to see us and my sister came to see us on the Sunday as well. I always do find it a but stressful having them around, as my mum does have a habit of being a bit thoughtless in some of the things she says (although it would be impossible to tell her...) but I managed OK.

Am still happy that my generally up mood is continuing as well.

The swelling was only a temporary thing due to the heat on Friday as I have nice thin ankles again. My fingers are probably a bit fatter but that is probably due to the fact that I weigh er more than I did before I got pregnant. Think I might be about 10 stone now (was somewhere between 8 and 8.5 stone before).

We're going on holiday in one week's time .
I am only working Tuesday and Wednesday this week and then off until 20th June .

Suppose I ought to do some work really....

PiccadillyCircus · 31/05/2005 08:42

On the trimester thing, I've always seen about 26 or 27 weeks being the third trimester, so not there yet. But as all my problems last time started in the 3rd trimester, I am very happy to stay in the 2nd for as long as possible .

mummyhill · 31/05/2005 09:53

Wow third tri today!!! reached 26 weeks without any major problems only problem is that i have started throwing up again feel fine in myself just start vomitting in the evening. I lost so much weight this pregnancy i can't tell if i am swelling or not. HAd to put my wedding ring on my chain round my neck yesterday at work as it kept falling off my finger. Midwives and gp don't seem to concerned about the weight losss after all at a size 22 pre pregnancy it's not as if i couldn't afford to lose some but I actually managed to get into a size 18 summer dress comfortably the other day my bump looks huge though because of the weight loss it's amazing what happens when they get the thyroxine levels right. All the new toys have arrived today for the mother and toddler group i run which means i ewill be spending most of my day at the church trying to pack it all into the cupboard space we have allocated to us!!!!!

moschops · 31/05/2005 10:10

hi all.........

i've started feeling sick again although mercifully not actually been sick yet.......i don't seem to have ever felt 'blooming' through my whole pg. i'm going stir crazy because i can't walk anywhere. was hoping to get a few days out over the summer, some quality time with just me and dp but i can't manage walking so thats out of the question.

still having problems with my Maternity Allowance Application as i haven't paid any NI for the last 4 years (mis-informed by the Inland Revenue) and had to phone them to arrange a back payment so i can claim my MA. they STILL haven't sent me my bill so i can't make the necessary payments to get the dates i need for my application form........i will have to stop work anyway but it would have been nice to have the money side sorted out.

jessysmummy · 31/05/2005 11:25

I too have started feeling sick again - after a blissful 4 weeks of feeling ok. Don't think I'm going to get a "bloom" this pg either.
Totally sympathise with you, moschops, over the NI contributions. I had the same problem when I tried to claim income support after a period of self employment when I (unknowingly) hadn't paid enough NI. Hope you get sorted - would be one less thing to worry about.

andif · 31/05/2005 13:12

Glad to hear I'm not the only one feeling sick! Felt dreadful yesterday morning - think maybe baby was kicking me in the stomach! Also v emotional again. Was worried getting the tummy bug doing rounds at school, but now sounds like we're all in the same boat. Feel like I bloomed for about 10 days, now it's well and truly over. Have put on 1.5 stone which I also find a bit worrying, although this is the first pg where I have weighed myself. Sleeping better though, so shouldn't moan

PiccadillyCircus · 31/05/2005 13:29

I'm not feeling sick again yet which is nice but on hearing the sickness of many of you I'm not sure how long it will last for.

Definitely feeling more pregnant now - although obviously not looking that pregnant as the other commuters on my train into work don't seem to notice the large bump and I feel too shy to say "Please can I have a seat, I'm 5 and a half months pregnant).

I get a seat on the way home though and I'd probably rather have it that way round as I am more tired when going home. .

moschops · 31/05/2005 13:50

i am getting kicked quite violently now (well i'm assuming its a foot) and whatever it is is quite frequently wedged up under my ribs on the right hand side. its an adventure in itself trying to find a position i'm comfortable in, either during the day or in bed at night. am making the most of having a bath while i still can, and have to wait for dp to be in to have a bath/shower anyway as i'm terrified of slipping and hurting myself.

really am struggling to put socks/shoes on!!! have hit a brick wall with shopping too.......my friend is selling me her steriliser but we still haven't looked at pushchairs properly. i haven't bought a single item of clothing for baby (have been given lots of stuff), and so far all i've got for my hospital bag is a nightie my mum bought me. i'm normally very organised about stuff like this but just don't seem to be able to get motivated...........honestly i don't think it's quite sunk in yet that i really am having a baby!!!!!!

Kiwifruit · 31/05/2005 13:52

I was violently ill on Thursday night, brought on by brushing my teeth . Spent all weekend feeling yuck with a sinus infection. This pregnancy lark isn't all it's cracked up to be I have a friend who loves being pregnant and would have done surrogacy, but she had some problems so can't have any more children (she has 4) - really can't see what the attraction is!!

Hopefully we're all feeling better soon!!

franch · 31/05/2005 13:52

pooka, there's a useful thread here re. birth pools. I've provisionally booked an oval one from the Good Birth Co. - quite a few people on the birth pools thread recommend the heated ones but the head of midwifery that I talked to last week said they were a waste of money (even the hosp ones aren't heated, and I don't like the idea of the chemicals), and according to her even the inflatable ones are absolutely fine.

pooka · 31/05/2005 14:15

Thanks! Will look and see whether to take the plunge.

mummyhill · 31/05/2005 16:11

I really enjoyed my pregnancy with DD cannot say the same this time round i bloomed for all of 3 weeks and am now back to feeling lousey and throwing up as well as having a short temper cause i am not sleeping all i seem to do is complain, moan and shout i must be hell to live with at the moment.

mummyhill · 31/05/2005 16:16

On a sad note VF is still showing on the stats thread, i know someone managed to take decaff off after her bad news can we do the same for VF as she might not want the reminder left on the board?

franch · 31/05/2005 19:27

I could start an entirely new Sept stats thread, so that the old one drops off the board??

OP posts:
Boompi · 01/06/2005 08:35

Thought I was coping well with this pregnancy weight gain thing (always worried about my weight) - till last night. My mother phoned to say she had been speaking to MIL and that MIL thought I had gained too much weight. Spent evening sobbing. DH was so angry he called his mum - who denies ever saying this. TBH - I thought it was an unlikely thing for her to say even if she thought it. Now I dont know what is going on except that my weight appears to be the paramount issue for my mum at least. I have put on 20 pounds (26 weeks) and thought this was ok. But now feel like a fat lump. I keep on telling myself it is such minor worry and the babys health is most important but raging hormones keep on making me burst into tears.

jessysmummy · 01/06/2005 09:36

Boompi, DO NOT LET THIS UPSET YOU! As you say, the most important thing is that you and your baby are healthy. As someone who has had weight issues in the past, I know that it only takes one comment (or even just a look) to get you worrying. Everyone is different in pregnancy - some put on weight quickly, some slowly, some not at all. We all have midwives/doctors keeping an eye on us and it's up to them to point out any concerns - high blood pressure, etc. If this is your first, maybe your mother was expecting you to carry as she did (I'm assuming she didn't put on much weight otherwise why would she comment?). Maybe you could just tell her that your midwife is quite happy or that your blood pressure is ok, though stress like this will surely bump it up! You should be blooming right now and enjoying the last few months of your pg and the VERY IMPORTANT time you have left with just you and your DH. Believe me, the weight will soon drop off when your are running around after junior and especially if you breastfeed.
Don't fret [hug]

andif · 01/06/2005 10:09

Boompi, please don't worry about weight! As I said in earlier post, this is the first time I have ever weighed myself in pg - the midwives here have a healthy attitude and aren't interested in weight at all. There is more to life than weight - like a healthy baby - and you certainly looked much the same as the rest of us at the meet up! Try wearing black if you feel enormous - it works for me, although doesn't do much for my mood!!

andif · 01/06/2005 10:12

Just thought again - does your Mum seriously expect you to diet? Especially after your recent hospital stay, she should be relieved that you've put on weight at all!! (Currently munching my way through daily almond croissant - I'm now an addict!!)
