Suspect I may sit here on my own for a few days, as found out pretty early that I'm now 3+4, due 3rd Feb 06.

I'll introduce myself anyway!

Age 31, DH 39. Live North Herts. Ttc #1 for just over 4 years, including 1 missed m/c last October.

Ecstatic to be pregnant again , but also nervous because of m/c history.

spacecadet · 08/06/2005 13:48

yeuch, when are you due?? my due date is11th feb but i will most likely be induced at 38 weeks.>

TicTac · 08/06/2005 14:19

Hi All,
I am 6 weeks and not feeling anything other then sore boobs and tired...should I be worried or grateful??
I just told my boss I was expecting since it took as a while to get here...I explained that I was feeling nervous about stuff oging wrong and she was really supportive. She just back from maternity leave herself so I guess she understands.

spacecadet · 08/06/2005 15:14

meant to say teuch!!!!! although yeuch is prob how you feel right now!!!!!!!

womba1 · 08/06/2005 16:34

In the space of 2 minutes, i managed to get my dh from all hot under the collar to as rampant as a wet squid!!!
My boobs (or nips!!) to be more precise are killing me!! I cut out two little holes in one of my bras so that my pink bits could poke out and not be touched by anything!
You should have seen his little face when i walked into the lounge. His tongue started lolling, his eyes nearly rolled to the back of his head and he almost started drooling!!
I then told him that if i so much as felt his breath anywhere near my mubs, it would be the last thing he ever did!! I think he got the message!!
On a serious note though, bloody hell!! I can't believe how painful these things are. Trying to cuddle my ds today has been almost impossible and i've found myself really snapping at him when he's tried to climb on me. He doesn't realise does he, poor little mite.
How is everyone today?

spacecadet · 08/06/2005 16:58

pmsl at your nip holes in your bra womba!!!!!!!my boobs are really tender too.

womba1 · 08/06/2005 17:20

It really works though Spacecadet!! I just have to remember not to open the front door to anyone..

hotmama1 · 08/06/2005 17:30

Womba1 - really nice image Like Spacecadet - PMSL.

Is anyone NOT having any symptoms? My boobs feel fine - last time they were really tender - is it just early days or it's just different second time around?

In fact I feel full of beans - I actually have just done another test to check I am pregnant - still positive. Should I just count myself lucky at the moment? Weirdly, I want to feel a bit crappy so that I know my hormones are working - am I strange?

womba1 · 08/06/2005 17:41

Hotmama... i could always post a pic on here just to fill in your mental image?!?!
Apart from my mubs, i'm feeling a bit too well also. I'm 5 weeks but by this time last pregnancy, i had severe heartburn and just wanted to sleep.

lets just make the most of feeling great, thats all i can say!!

YeahBut · 08/06/2005 17:58

Womba I nearly DID PMSL at your bra imagery!!! (note to self, pelvic floor excercises) Can totally sympathise - my boobs are sooooooo painful at the moment. Even the jiggling caused by going up and down stairs is too much!

Kando - we've been in Holland for about 18 months now also in The Hague. My Dutch is still pretty awful (haven't had a chance yet to take proper lessons) but tbh, english is so widely spoken, you wouldn't need to. The health care is pretty good. GP services aren't what I'd like - they all tend to be single member practices and their surgeries are usually part of their own homes! The hospitals are excellent. I would imagine that, given your medical history, your GP would refer you immediately to an OB/GYN (as I have been due to previous pregnancy histories). They are VERY keen on home birth (without pain relief) but you can choose a hospital birth and most of the expats tend to do so because its what they're used to. If you are under the care of an OB/GYN, they might prefer a hospital delivery. The Bronovo hospital in the Benoordenhout area of The Hague has an excellent reputation (Holland's royalty have their bubs there)!

Could go on for ages but won't!!!

ixel · 08/06/2005 20:24

Hello all. I've got a date... 8th Feb! Makes it all a bit more real, although I'm in sympathy with you, Hotmama1 - I'd give anything for some symptoms. All I've got are phantom period pains, which dont do alot to reassure me.
But I'm very happy, as I'm going to be able to go to a much better hospital this time round (big sigh of relief). Hopefully wont have to take my own cleaning products this time.
I know its a bit early, but I was wondering what you're all doing with your existing offspring when the day comes? ds is 18 months now, and has never been left with anyone except my Mum for a couple of hours once or twice. She cant be near us around my due date. Am thinking of leaving dh with him, while I have the baby on my own.. is this unrealistic? Do you think I'll need someone? Dh didn't really enjoy it last time, so he'd probably be better off at home. The only other person I'd like as a birthing partner wont be able to do it, also for childcare reasons! and my 'runner up' choice lives 2 hrs away and works 3 days a week, so might not be able to make it anyway. Plus, I had an emergency section last time, so it was all such a rush that I didn't really take much notice of dh being there anyway. Sorry if I'm waffling!

MrsDoolittle · 08/06/2005 21:05

Well hello Ladies Can I shuffle in?

womba1 · 08/06/2005 21:21

Welcome Mrs Doolittle... and congrats!!

JuA · 08/06/2005 21:54

This thread is growing fast! Our computer has been offline for the last couple of days and its taken me ages to catch up. I am beginning to feel quite tired - I had a day off work today and all we did was play in the garden with the paddling pool! We haven't told anyone yet but I will probably tell my sister at the weekend as we are going up to see her new baby.

LibbyandBensMummy · 08/06/2005 22:01

i didnt honestly thing there would be anyone on here due in feb time yet quite shocked actauuly

LibbyandBensMummy · 08/06/2005 22:02

sorry about the spellin lol must be the hormones lol

MrsDoolittle · 08/06/2005 22:40

I'm not due til the 21st actually and in reality, I'm probably less than 3 weeks!

Miranda5 · 09/06/2005 09:42

Hotmama...I have no symptoms...boobs are big but just feel healthy and happy...However feeling happy is abatted by feeling healthy.
Anyone else had a m/c and actually WANT to feel llike death. Feeling very pessimistic round here... now supposed to be five weeks ( due 10th) virtually crying and experiencing a continuous low grade crampy feeling.
I cant bear this!

kando · 09/06/2005 12:04

Morning ladies! Sounds like there is a bit of a sore boob epidemic at the moment! Mine have been a bit tender but seem to be OK at the mo. Can someone just refresh my memory - should I be wearing a maternity bra now or are my underwired ones still OK to wear at this early stage? (Can't bear the thought of "swinging low" in those awful maternity ones, hardly any support at all!)

Yeahbut - DH was in The Hague yesterday, and has found us a lovely house in Benoordenhout ... think I'll be visiting the Royal's hospital - I "don't do" drug free labours! I NEED the pethidine Perhaps when we get out there, we could meet up for a coffee (a normal one, mind - none of that wacky stuff thank you!)? We are due to arrive at the beginning of August (or very possibly the last weekend in July). What do you think? (Sorry to be hijacking the thread!) Could I just ask what the supermarkets are like out there? I'm presuming they stock fairly normal stuff (ie like UK supermarkets) - am a bit worried as we are "fishitarians", and from what I gather, the Dutch are quite big on meat. Can you get the Aussie shampoo stuff out there (I know, I know, but if you can't then I'll stockpile it whilst I'm still here!)

Hope all you ladies are enjoying this lovely sunny weather we are having - the dds are currently having lunch in the back garden with their "babies". Dropping dd1 off at pre-school and then it's off to get my weekly fix of Asda. (Oh, how I will miss Asda when we move to Holland. Gulp.)

kando · 09/06/2005 12:09

Forgot to say ... congratulations Mrs Doolittle, and LibbyandBensmummy ... I'm having my third too and am wondering what on earth possessed me ... ! Miranda5 - hope you are feeling better soon. I've had little niggles too, which have been bothering me but I'm just assuming it's my body getting used to the baby (no nickname for it as yet! DD1 was "Stanley" ... named by drunken friends whilst on holiday! DD2 was just "baby" or "bump") Does anyone else have a nickname for their "bump"?

YeahBut · 09/06/2005 13:21

Congratulations, MrsDolittle and LibbyandBensMummy!!! It's really exciting seeing so many people arrive. It so lovely being able to talk about this to people! One friend has guessed already, though, because I'm so exhausted all the time. Enjoying keeping it to just me and dh for a while.

Kando, all our bumps have been nicknamed Smudge. In fact, it often took a while after birth to call the babies by their "real' names.
(A meet up when you arrive would be lovely! Supermarkets are fine but not as good as Tesco. Not sure about the shampoo - will have a look next time I'm at the chemist or supermarket. To be on the safe side, I'd bring a load over with you in your shipment. They have many more individual stores in each area too, greengrocers, butchers etc. and their quality is usually excellent. You shouldn't have any problems on the fish front. There are lots of fishmongers (the Dutch are also very keen on fish, particularly herring). If you want to ask anything, feel free. You can use the "contact another talker" to send a message direct to me.)

kando · 09/06/2005 14:32

Thanks Yeahbut, I'll do that! Got to dash to pick up dd1 from pre-school so I will e-mail you later.

teuch · 09/06/2005 16:16

Hi all...

I have a question... blush] ...but reckon you are the best people to ask!

Because of the m/c last time, I am a bit nervous of sex and orgasm last time I was pregnant felt like my uterus turned to stone and cramped a bit!

We can just about manage the no-sex rule (although DH did say it was more fun when we were TTC!) but the problem is 'unintentional' orgasm...I mean while you are sleeping, not walking for the bus or anything!

Common sense tells me that orgasm is not going to cause m/c but I just wondered other thought?

hotmama1 · 09/06/2005 16:26

Teuch - you made me larf

TBH sex or an orgasm is not going to cause you to miscarry - if there are 'problems' then I can only assume that you will miscarry anyway. I fully understand your concern and I'm sure I would be extra-concerned if I had miscarried before.

Sex and orgasms are good for the soul. With all the extra blood flowing around your bits and pieces it's quite normal to feel extra horny IYSWIM
