As we all talk so fast the last thread is nearly full so thought I would start us off on a new one

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Back from holiday today. Just wanted to sign in before I go back & catch up on a weeks worth of bump news.

totalmisfit · 30/08/2009 19:51

that's weird quirkychick, i also used to live on the edge of Greenwich Park (in Blackheath in fact) and have fled the bright lights for Norfolk too! I was at university there. I can't believe how nostaligic i am for the place nowadays

Don't know if i'll be having the vaccine. What i'm actually hoping is that the whole hoo-hah will just go away so i can enjoy this pregnancy rather than worrying meself into an early grave about whether me, dd and the baby will survive the winter

quirkychick · 30/08/2009 20:31

totalmisfit where are you in Norfolk? We are in Norwich.

I used to teach in Charlton, then did supply all over SE London and then in Lee/Lewisham. I actually lived in Blackheath SE3, Shooters Hill and then near the old Greenwich Hospital. Was 6 yrs ago now. Lovely part of London.

I was sneezing yesterday, and was slightly worried. I think it was I had got a whole load of maternity stuff out that was probably a little dusty from 4yrs ago.

Wow that is brilliant! What lovely pictures to keep as well - I still am amazed at the difference in detail between my 8 week and 12 weeks scan pictures and just have to imagine how clear they will be now.
It must be quite an upheaval at the moment, but I'm sure you will settle in well.
Bank holiday - pah! Not here in rainy Argyll, where I am stuck behind my desk with the prospect of a 3 hour trip to Glasgow when I'm done!
Always time for MN tho

sockmonkey · 31/08/2009 10:56

Ah that's lovely Londonlottie. Glad the scan & the move have gone ok.

Southwestwhippet · 31/08/2009 11:19

Morning all, I'm having a lovely bank holiday - off to the Quantocks Show in a bit with my dogs. Intending to force encourage them round the agility course should be a good day out.

cograts everyone on your scans - mine is next week, can't wait as will be the first time I have seen my LO.

Had something of an epiphany yesterday when I caught myself 'bodging' my bump to try and make him/her wriggle. Suddenly thought "OMG what am I doing, that is a little person in there, it isn't just my body anymore to be poking around". Spend the rest of the afternoon on the internet in tears convinced I had permanently mentally scarred/traumatised my unborn child (PFB moment or what).

It is so wierd though to imagine that this little wriggly feeling inside is actually a tiny person who will one day grow up, go to school, get a car, fall in love etc etc.

Enjoy your Bank Holidays everyone.

haven't posted for ages but been keeping up with thread on mobile phone! congrats everyone on 20 week scans. mine's on 10th sept, can't wait. this second pregnancy feels unreal. the first one you're just 'OMG AM PREGNANT AM PREGNANT!' the whole time, and this one is just like "oh hi little one! still there are you?"

anniemac we are the same, have a definite girl's name but are unsure about boys. The one I like seems to be too popular for my liking. We have the scan on Friday, dp can't wait but I just want everything to be ok.

I woke up in the night and my bump was definitely one sided! Tried poking massaging it but no movement. In the morning back to normal. Much more movement this far on, pg feels really much more real.

Fab news londonlottie! And 3D pics to boot.

Biccy · 31/08/2009 16:29

Hi all, haven't been on for a while as life has been incredibly hectic with the extension coming on apace. Have been priming my beautiful new windows today; can't wait to see them in place, such a relief when they arrived and looked just how I wanted them..

Anyway, congrats to all on good 20 week scans, great news. So hard to believe we are all almost at the 'half way' point!

I'm doing ok, although I fell over on Thursday and have totally put my hips back about 6 weeks... will have to see how they go, and maybe see the chiropracter again earlier than I was meant to...

'southwestwippet', I used to wiggle dd around quite a bit toward the end of her pregnancy, I could basically grab her by the hips and wiggle her.... don't think it did any damage, and I don't see it as all that different to all the dandling you do once they're born! I think it's a bonding thing.

I really really keep forgetting I'm pg. Was lying in bed yesterday and went 'what was that? someone just tapped me' to dp, all worried like there was a ghost in the room.... then remembered about the baby and felt dreadful that I had forgotten him (her?) so completely...

sockmonkey · 31/08/2009 19:38

With both DSs we had names picked out pretty early, only to go off them a few weeks before they were due & change our minds.
DH has already decided on a boys name... but I'm not too sure. If it's a girl we are stuffed cos we have not got a clue. I keep telling myself we have plenty time.

The wiggles are getting stronger for me, and I got a proper boot a couple of days ago. It's all very exciting.

Hi all
Sorry its been a while, just had a rain filled windy weekend in deepist darkist wales. With 4 children, dh and BIL and 5 months pg, an experience i will not be repeating again in a hurry. sleepingalot thanks for adding me to the list. dizzyclarebear yes it is a very busy house but i think my six year old will probably be the most helpful. she is normally a daddys girl but since i've had my bump she won't leave me alone, keeps hugging and rubbing my belly. great to hear everyones good news about scans and good luck for those coming up. Have mine on weds, am very excited although a little pissed off, as i will now have to go on my own. Long story - mix up with sister and husband both thought the other was going, so now husband just told me he is working away tomorrow, leaving at 5am and doesn't think he'll be back till thurs.
Biccy&CTOFN hope you both okay.

Partyofsixsoontobeseven · 31/08/2009 22:23

Hi Londonlottie, just had a look at the pictures. OMG! how beautiful, just a tad jealous, although very happy with my peanut of course.

Biccy · 31/08/2009 22:34

Thanks londonlottie, I managed instinctively to land in such a way that the bump didn't hit anything, I've had no bleeding and there's been plenty of activity since then, so I don't feel worried about the baby, just cross at myself - it was my own rucksack left in a silly place that I tripped on (and I don't recommend landing boobs first on a henry hoover!). Your pictures are amazing, how wonderful to see your little girls' faces. I'm not surprised you were emotional during the move.

We are useless at names; it took us over 3 weeks to settle on a name for dd (after she was born I mean) and I really don't want to be there again (with people telling me how I couldn't be bonding properly with her as she didn't have a name and ringing every 5 minutes with suggestions). But the chances of getting DP to seriously consider names until much much much nearer the time are just about zero; he's a very last minute kind of guy. He is also infuriating as he can think of bad nicknames, and bad songs, related to every name in the book. I have got as far as going through the girls' names in my book and making a short list. I've got as far as the 'F's in the boys' section, and so far not one name on the list. Oh dear.

Still, working out the new kitchen layout is actually more pressing, as I'm told the electrician could turn up 'any day' and want to know the plan for the electrics (aargh, I am finding it impossible to decide what to put where).... so I can procrastinate some more on names...

So, totally unrelated, but does anybody have one of those pull-out larder thingys in their kitchen? and if so, do you like it, or do you think cupboards are just as good? I quite fancy one as I can never see what's in my food cupboard and am forever buying stuff only to find the same stuff lurking at the back next time I clear out. But, dp thinks they take up valuable worksurface space and impose too much (it's a fairly narrow galley kitchen). I think I may post this question in the DIY section, 'tis not really an antenatal thing is it? (Nesting, nesting, one two three).

CantThinkofFunnyName · 01/09/2009 10:31

Morning all, londonlottie the pics are fantastic!!! How gorgeous, you must be so thrilled and proud.

Was told after my slip on Friday I have a groin strain, which has eased considerably and thankfully have not needed the painkillers - just lots of rest with DH slaving over me (tee hee). So much better now, although a bit twingy.

Had consultant appointment this morning which wasn't particularly fruitful. They want to wait until 10 November to decide for sure on my mode of delivery and are seeking recommendation from the neurology dept. Ho hum - I do like things to be organised, not up in the air like this. Oh well, on the positive side (I think) baby has been v v v active recently - but it really makes me feel unwell and a little sick. Anyone else?

Londonlottie - artery in my neck/head split last September - all rather freaky and scary and could have died (or had stroke). Therefore the question is whether it's too dangerous to push and put pressure on veins etc. Tbh, I'd rather just go with the section now, get date in the diary and make plans. But its a major op so they don't want to say for sure until the neurologist has recommended one or the other, and even in the neurologist says vag delivery is fine, they may still decide to go with section, to be on the safe side! Yes, there's plenty of time but if I do have a section the date will be between 17 and 31 Dec and I am v v impatient and want to know!! Basically as far as I'm concerned it should either be 17th or POST 27th Dec. Well, we'll see, all will be well I'm sure.

Biccy - am also in the process of choosing builders for extension and kitchen conversion PLUS new kitchen to boot. Trouble is, haven't had any decent building quotes yes and need to get on with the job PRONTO.

CantThinkofFunnyName · 01/09/2009 10:48

Grrrrr Londonlottie darn you - CANNOT stop singing Lola now!

Biccy · 01/09/2009 14:34

Yes, apparently there's some song with a prostitute called Charlotte in it too, so Charlotte is vetoed (which is a shame, because I just love Lottie). He also forbids names that sound too babyish (I like Daisy, and Betsy), or names that are "too grown up" for a child.... so where are you supposed to go with that?! The best comment from him was that if he had his way he would call a baby girl my name - but of course that one's taken in our house (and we're not into Biccy Jnr!).

Good luck finding builders
CTOAFN, I'm fairly lucky in that my OH is a tradesman himself, so he's just roped in his favourite bricky, favourite roofer etc. It's a bit scarey because we're paying them on a day rate and sourcing all the materials ourselves, but so far it seems (fingers crossed) to be staying on the money we calculated beforehand. Problem is, DP can't stay away from it himself, so he's not earned any money for about a month now, and when I count that into the cost I think we may be a bit over...
