As we all talk so fast the last thread is nearly full so thought I would start us off on a new one

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

crumpette I painted with gloss paint at about 26wks with dd, all the skirtings, doors etc. I did ventilate the room well and had to keep standing up every so often. Part of the nesting urge, I think.

cantthinkofaname my weight gain is 11lb so far (18+6) but I haven't actually stopped being sick in the mornings yet . I did put loads on last time due to oedema at the end and was completely exhausted. Luckily, I really don't fancy ice-cream or chocolate at the mo, so mostly savoury stuff. I went shopping for a long walk yesterday and was shattered after. I am trying to do little weights, yoga and pilates but I think once dd is back at pre-school I will probably do more as it is hard to motivate myself once she's in bed.

Big announcement at this end I actually saw baby move for the first time last night....

I was enjoying one of those foot bath thingies that make bubbles and vibrate and baby obviously enjoyed all the vibrations becuase she started jumping around like no tomorrow and then when I was looking at my tummy thinking I've got to be able to see some of these movements soon I actually did!

Its just so nice to think she's actually getting strong enough for me to see her now and hopefully DH will be around next time, I think it makes such a difference for the guy when they can actually feel the baby move.....

Pepa · 26/08/2009 14:12

On the weight front I've already put on 18 pounds...bit more than last time but I'm not too concerned. It always comes off with the combination of breast feeding and running after little ones and if some extra chocolate or dessert makes me feel better at this stage its worth it!!!

alibobins · 26/08/2009 14:24

Afternoon all.
Off work sick today feeling really run down ended up at emergency docs sat with a water infection and last night was up most of night with ds who had an asthma attack.

On the weight front I've still not regained the weight I lost from my morning sickness still half a stone lighter than my booking in appointment.

Sorry for the moaning post.

CantThinkofFunnyName · 26/08/2009 16:00

Alibobins - my sympathies. Hope you feel better soon. must have been awful to feel so rotten yourself and then be up most of the night with DS!

Londonlottie - you do get special status because of twins, however, rather shockingly I'm not that far behind you on the weight with only one!! I have my scan on Friday too at 14:20!

quirkychick · 26/08/2009 17:11

alibobins you poor thing! You can be really prone to urine infections when you are pg. And I know exactly how it is with a little one with asthma. Hope you and ds feel much better soon.

For those who are fancying ice-cream, tesco's have an offer on ben & jerry's. dp filled the freezer with it the other day.

Dizzyclarebear · 26/08/2009 18:01

hi all,

just back from my scan - wriggly little baby in there (said I didn't want to know the sex). Odd moment when I was asked to jump up and down to get the baby to move!

But slight panic, the bloke said it was big. I asked how big and he started to explain the measurements then said that it was "outside the normal range" - WTF?!?! to put into persepective - I'm 5' and petite frame - I do not have what you could call child-bearing hips - this is going to hurt a lot isn't it? But yay for healthy baby!

Dal21 - enjoy your date with DH tonight!

Pepa - that's sooo exciting!!! I keep telling DH it's moving and he doesn't get over to grab my tummy before it stops.

Oh, and on the weight gain, I'm 21 weeks and have gained 5.8kg. Is that about 11 pounds? I'm looking rather preggers though, seats on tube are becoming regular thing!

MRSVICTOR · 26/08/2009 18:21

I'm nearly 20wks and haven't felt baby move, had scan and the bean is definitely in there doing athletics so wouldn't worry about not feeling anything yet. Have amnio tomorrow though (longggggggg story why its so late) which i'm dreading.

PMSL at all the ice cream eating, thank god I don't have that, craving for salt and vinegar crisps has thankfully now passed. Had a twix today though, haven't had one of them since 1984 and it was brilliant. No mental strength to weigh myself, but finding it difficult to flipping bend over without all my bits getting in the way

Good luck with all the forthcoming scans x

sleepingalot · 26/08/2009 18:51

Had 20 week scan today. All was fine but couldn't get a clear view of baby's heart due to the way s/he was lying. So have to go back for rescan on Friday. Have mixed feelings. While I'm really pleased everything else was ok am nervous about Friday now. One thing did make me laugh tho... baby decided to empty it's bladder just as she was about to measure it!

Dizzyclarebear pleased to hear your good news... I may try jumping up and down on Fri before I go in!. We didn't find out sex either but DH is convinced he saw a "ball bag", (he has a way with words!)but I have sneaky feeling it's a girl as the sonographer had a trainee in and he did some measurements and he said 'she is lying..." so the bets are on!

Hi to everyone else, hope all upcoming scans go well.

Southwestwhippet · 26/08/2009 19:33

Hi all, haven't posted in ages as didn't seem real for the first few months - apart from the tiredness and the throwing up of course Is it too late to get stuck in?

My weight gain so far is about 16 pounds I think. I was underweight to start with though, I think I put 3/4 stone in the first 6 weeks.

My 20 week scan is in about a week and a half. I am umming and ahhing about finding out the sex, only because I secretly would love a girl and if it is a boy, would like the time to bond before the birth. Anyone else feel like this/have a preference? I always said I would NEVER find out the sex but now I'm not so sure.

Baby is wriggling now, I can feel him/her jumping as I type.

totalmisfit · 26/08/2009 20:02

hi ladies,

i keep meaning to post but hardly ever get the chance as dd is taking hours to settle at night for some reason.

Anyway, i'm 19 weeks today and weighed myself a few days ago - put on 10lb so far, but i'm the size of a house! Today someone actually asked me when i was due before i'd even told them i was pregnant.

Cars also keep stopping for me, which never happens round here, and one lady (complete stranger) told me to be careful on the steps down to the beach the other day as they were slippery (i'd forgotten how being pg makes others think you're incapable!)

I've got my scan on Sept 9th, and can't wait to find out the sex. Can't believe how differently i feel about it this time around, as with dd i was positively zealous about it being a surprise.

southwestwhippet i'm sure it's not too late at all! i just tend to float in and out anway, and i'm sure others are the same.

lilacpink · 26/08/2009 20:45

southwestwhippet I was keen to know for both pregnancies to, as you say, bond more beforehand. I know you can bond with a baby bump if you don't/can't find out the sex, but I loved talking to a girl the first time around and I also love my DD knowing that she's having a brother this time. My DD and DH were a bit more keen on a girl (DH worries boys can be tearaways!), so now they have months to get used to the idea before he's born

My DD is already all set on one name, while I'm set on another, DH likes lots of names!

Not sure about weight (wouldn't be surprised if around 10lb extra), but I look normal from the front - have a waist and look around size 10 - but massive from the side. Think that's why I'm starting to get SPD (have referal for physio). I acually had to hold the bump earlier today while walking for awhile as it was like a mini goldfish bowl stuck on me. Lots of movement, but this is DC2 and he's high up.

dal21 · 27/08/2009 07:51

Morning!

Dizzy - yay on the scan! Dont worry about the comments on size of the bub - we are all different heights/ weights etc, so our bubs will be the same! And yes, DH and I had a lovely date last night, thank you.

Londonlottie - cannot believe the move is nearly already hear! seemed an age away when you first started to talk about it! So will you rename yourself?? Best of luck with the move, am sure it will all go fantastically well!

Pepa - glad you are with me on the weightgain front although seem to be the only one who has not gone near a pair of scales.

Alibobbins - sorry about the infection. I had one a few months back. Easier said than done, I know with a little one, but try and get some rest. It took about 3 days for the anti b's to make me feel slightly better..

Sleepingalot - I hear ice cold full fat coke before a scan will mean they wriggle around a lot. Maybe drink some before the scan?

Southwestwhippet - It is a very personal call. We didnt find out with DS, but hope to with this one on Tues. I guess what a lot of people say is true...a surprise is a surprise, whenever you find out. And if you feel that you need the time to get used to the fact that it is a boy; then maybe give yourself that time. Although I found with DS that when he was born, I was simply happy to have him in my arms - and honestly didnt care that he was a boy (even though I think I would have liked a girl!).

Hello to everyone else..

dal21 · 27/08/2009 07:53

I meant to ask.

Pregnant women are now top of the list of priority groups for the swine flu vaccine.

article

does anyone have any more thoughts on whether they will get this?

crumpette · 27/08/2009 09:38

Thankyou for the painting tips! It has big windows so I think I can ventilate well.. hmm.. or remove DP from his wallet so he cannot go to the pub until he has finished painting everything

lottie sunday!? wow good luck, sniff sniff I won't get to compare bumps with you before you leave! Am moving to Greenwich near the park, was there before DD got ill so it's got happier memories really, bit boring but it's easy for me to get to the city (what I mean is it's easy for me to get home from the city when I feel like skiving...!!!) speaking of work I get paid today and they are still paying me a salary 2k less than my real salary- it's been 3 or 4 months now and I have complained every month.. I think it may be deliberate...

ehem, and on the weight gain front I'm about the same as londonlottie I think and it's definitely not twins

crumpette · 27/08/2009 09:43

ah and I definitely, definitely won't be having the swine flu vaccine

joanna22pink · 27/08/2009 09:46

hi all, i am due 17th jan with my second i already have a 15 month old little boy called henry, just found out we are having a little girl this time.

FifiForgot · 27/08/2009 09:47

Sleepingalot I had to go back for a second scan with DD, she was in the wrong position to get a good view of the heart. It was fine and she was more cooperative the second time round. I know what you mean though, I was a bit of a wreck waiting for the second scan.

We did find out what DD was, mainly because I was set on a boy (my Dad died the year before and wanted a grandson to go with his 2 granddaughters) and DH was worried that if we didn't know I would be disappointed in the delivery room. As it was I cried for 1/2 hour after being told she was a girl - I think the other mums waiting thought I had been given bad news! I wouldn't change her for the world now of course!.

dal21 I happened to see my midwife for a checkup yesterday and mentioned this to her. She said that once they actually start giving the jabs there will be lots of guidelines. I'm not inclined to have the jab, I don't think it has been tested enough to be sure of safety, especially where pregnancy is concerned. I'm seeing my GP today and will ask her opinion. I can't imagine that they will make anyone have the jab if they don't want to, I think I will take advice nearer the time.

Have a good day all

Southwestwhippet - I feel the same as you about having a girl, but oddly feel the opposite about finding out. I think that if I'm told at the scan that baby is a boy, I'll be disappointed. But if I don't know until he's actually here, in my arms, looking all gorgeous and teeny, then I won't mind one tiny bit.

Feel v reassured by all of those who haven't felt movement yet. Thanks ladies!

Southwestwhippet · 27/08/2009 10:13

Morning all, I have just had a disustingly long lie-in; not looking forward to going back to work next week and having to get up again.

Thanks guys, so food for thought here re the scan.

verytiredmummy you make a very good point, I am sure by the time he/she arrives I will just be thrilled to have my teeny baby.

joanne22pink CONGRATS on your little girl, nice to have one of each

I've not really thought about the swine flu jab TBH, I think it unlikely that I'll have it though, I too worry about how much research has been done on LT effect if one is pregnant

bethoo · 27/08/2009 10:20

welcome joanna22pink and congrats on your girl, one of each like me with another girl on the way! if you scroll back several pages there is a list of all of us if yu want to add your details to it! hope to be hearing from you more! x

crumpette i thought most paints were lead free which caused a lot of problems hence why most are lead free? but as said before well ventilated and advise having breaks. we are painting hte spare room too when we get the motivation as moving in with dp hopefully before new year!

quirkychick · 27/08/2009 10:49

oh crumpette I used to live near Greenwich Park, lovely! I'm all nostalgic for London again. Great place for kids to play, Greenwich market for shopping, cafes...ahhh. Still Norwich is pretty beautiful too.

Congratulations everyone on their scans.

totalmisfit I am 19wks today!

MRSVICTOR good luck with your amnio today, fingers crossed for you.

Dizzyclarebear · 27/08/2009 10:55

Crumpette - oh - on the other side of the park - we're in Blackheath! (so far, have the carnival on one side of the heath and the climate camp on the other) And as it looks like our house purchase in Kent has fallen through, we shall be here for a while longer...

Re swine flu - nope, not having the jab.
