Welcome MrsVictor. We share due dates - the only one to share my date actually!! Although - at this point, it is likely I'll be whipped in for a c-section before that - my vote currently going for 31 Dec (which makes it the standard 2 weeks before)! just think of all the fab parties in years to come - AND means I don't have to be a kiljoy when everyone wants to party this year. I'll be wrapped up snug and warm getting a good night's sleep!!

liny · 24/08/2009 21:23

hello,

Just back from 3 weeks hol in Corsica and France- Glad to hear all the good news. We had our scan today and all is well, and it is a GIRL! really pleased as I wanted one... ;-)
Will catch up with thread later...

iateallthecreameggsyummy · 25/08/2009 09:04

Hiya Liskey!!

How did scan go?? My scan is on the 9th September. Did you say your not showing yet?? Im wearing maternity tops and jeans and have a huge belly, midwife has told me due to my rubbish muscles i am going to be on of those people with big bumps. Yayyyyy

Have you felt baby move yet? Im feeling movements now rather than bubbles which is great.

kittykat765 · 25/08/2009 09:38

I'm with you on the bump front iateallthecreameggsyummy. If my bump carries on the way it is going, they will have to roll me in to the delivery suite come January!

bethoo · 25/08/2009 09:38

gosh did she actually say you had rubbish tummy muscles?
i have goen back to my fitness videos as a bowl of 3 separate ben and jerrys flavoured ice cream is no friend of the thighs, may as well have smeared it on direct!

iateallthecreameggsyummy · 25/08/2009 09:54

bethoo yep rubbish muscles!

Ill be honest im not a slim lady but not huge either, size 16. We went in because i was hard and big just under my boobs, she prodded about and asked if i had hernia history which i dont and said i have rubbish muscles need to wear a support belt and will be big!

I would not mind but im 18 weeks and have people asking when im leaving already! on a plus notes benefits so far include:

given free tea and biscuits at a summer holiday event for my nephews and a building being opened specially for me to have a cold glass of water, and given a nice seat to sit on! (ownwer told me i had enough to deal with in 'my condition' than to be thirsty to!') hehehehe

Well if people want to assume im further along thats great

as for the 3 bowls is that all........ The other day i had 4 big rolls stuffed with cheese and onion crisps, 3 pickled onions, 3 bags of cheese n onion crisps and then half a tub of ben and jerrys! All in one sitting my DH was stuffed after 2 rolls so i finished his of for him! My craving may be a bit obvious now!

bethoo · 25/08/2009 09:56

i am leaving ice cream binges to the weekend so it is will power mond to thursday!
for morning i am having 2 pears and 3 little tangerines. for dinner it is feta cheese and olive salad wiht blasamic dressing. yes i am being good! (not mentioning hte coffee with five sugars!!!)

somewhathorrified · 25/08/2009 10:18

bethoo aren't you hungry? where are your carbs/cereals?

I figure if I can't pig out when I'm pregnant when can I! My logic works on the principal that it's gonna be hard enough to get back any semblance of a figure after this, as such what's an extra stone or 3 to lose. Saying this, I'm actually eating a lot less now than I was when I was in the first trimester.

bethoo · 25/08/2009 11:00

i dont eat cereals if i can help it somewhathorrified but i get carbs from my fruit and usually i have half a massive tub of natural greek yoghurt with fruit but did not have time this morning! i have a mango waiting in the fridge to have with the yoghurt.
i think it is partly cos i have a mega phobia of putting on weight, pregnancy makes me feel ashamed and i tend to try and hide it away. i know it is an unhealthy approach but i have been figure conscious for as long as i can remember. i was one of those annoying peopel who always went on about my weight but now i just moan on here and to poor dp!

somewhathorrified · 25/08/2009 11:43

bethoo I'm finding the pregnancy 'fat' feeling hard too. I'm at the "don't look down" stage atm. My Dh does say all the right things tho e.g "you look funny, 2 skinny legs then this ballon balanced on top!"

Brasso4 · 25/08/2009 12:34

I must admit, that I also feel a little strange anbout my size. I was not super skinny before I was pg but found it really strange having an obvious tummy when I was on holiday. I know what you meen about it being a culture shock - so long trying to stay slim and now letting things go so to speak.

Midwife appointment today (17+4) and heard heart beat for first time...cool.

bethoo · 25/08/2009 12:39

especially at this stage when you are not obviously pregnant but something does not look right you know? i think that i look like i have been living out hte bakery! i have naturally thin arms so look weird wiht a round tum and i always prided myself on my abs and protruding hip bones, god i sound ghastly!

somewhathorrified · 25/08/2009 12:46

Can't say I ever had the abs, but I know what you mean about the hip bones...when I lie down now I look like I have a football stuffed under my skin, esp in the morning when it's all on the one side. Thinking I look VERY pregnant.

And please can someone tell me to get of this overly addictive site and go clean this pig sty of a house!!!

sazlocks · 25/08/2009 12:54

I am sure I am a bit strange but once I start looking pregnant then I really enjoy the way my body looks. Last time I really wished I had got some photos taken so I could record it forever - even though I was probably embarrassingly huge to anyone else looking at me ! I have got a friend who is a photographer lined up to take some piccies for me later on into my pregnancy. I am no beauty or skinny ( by any stretch of the imagination !) but I love my body doing this totally wonderful and natural thing. As it will very probably be my last pregnancy I am determined to get a visual record that I can look back on when I am old and grey !

OP posts:
bethoo · 25/08/2009 13:02

yes i have about one pic of each pregnancy! but i doubt i will be doing a demi . my dad took some of my first pregnancy and only looking at them now i realsie how big i was! i was bigger the first time round than hte second though i think this will be the biggest belly as i am only 5 months and have 4 to go so i am just imagining how i am gong to balloon!
somewhathorrified dont worry as when you get top hte third trimester you will start nesting whcih means manic cleaning and moving stuff in preparation! i have days when i have the urge ot clean and the rest of hte time i am in denial! does not help that my hoover is broken and have a puppy who moults thick clumps of black hair everywhere! what an attractive piccy i portray of myself and my home!

somewhathorrified · 25/08/2009 13:23

3 cats and a building site don't do much for my self esteem but it's a very accurate portrayal of my house! I keep thinking OMG 4 months to get this place 'safe'..personally I think I focus on that to avoid thinking about what else happens in 4 months .

saz good idea on the pic thing...hadn't thought of that. bethoo I'm thinking the lack of the Demi pose was probably a good idea seeing as your Dad was taking the piccy.

crumpette · 25/08/2009 13:48

hello all! haven't actually read the thread of late so hello to any newcomers. Glanced at bethoo's healthy eating- pah! I am sitting here at my desk with a gigantuous panini thing and a huge salad and some grapes and some chocolatey things in front of me om nom nom

cravings for crumpets still lingering, necatrine craving has changed to tinned peaches in syrup (eugh) chilled. Has to be chilled.

Have been somewhat stressed out of late in really bad mood, may be the imminent visit to MIL AGAIN how outrageous is that, may be that I am meant to be moving house er, this weekend, and didn't realise it was so soon, and have tons of stuff, and the new place (rented) is painted the most vile shade of orange I have ever seen so I will have to repaint before moving stuff in, erm, and I don't know what kind of paint is toxic in pregnancy or is all paint ok>? aaargh and yes, back to MIL. And colleagues.. grrr

Otherwise all ok lottie didn't realise it's nearly the end of the month already when do you actually move? I'm so sorry in my stressed out state I totally forgot you were, erm, leaving the country. If we don't meet up before you leave then I'm sure you'll be back, right? With twins in tow?

Getting a bit nervous about next scan, I mean, I know baby isn't a mutant but bump has pretty much vanished (?) I am still being kicked though. Also wish I had asked what the sex was at the last one because I'm now dying to know for some reason, kind of hoping it's a girl but saw the w*lly on the first scan and then had DNA test thingy which said girl.. so am a bit confused! betting starts.. now!

Hope everyone is OK I should probably get back to work and silently hating my colleagues.. sigh.....

Dizzyclarebear · 25/08/2009 13:58

Crumpette - could you get the MIL to help paint?

had a wax today - bump doesn't like that and started really wriggling as soon as it the first bit was ripped off... Again, had the panic of "this is about the limit of my pain threshold, how am I going to cope with childbirth" half way through...

got my scan tomorrow - going to try to be good and not ask if it's a boy or girl - I really do want to wait but am feeling a bit like checking what's under the christmas tree...

verytiredmummy · 25/08/2009 14:50

Great news from all of those who have had 20-week scans already.

Crumpette, I am desperate to know which flavour your baby is now! Have you got any feelings either way? How accurate are those DNA tests?

I am almost 19 weeks now. Slightly worried that I've not really felt any movement yet. Felt my son move from 15 weeks (but he is freakishly tall and has enormous feet, so that could be why!). My scan isn't until Sep 14th, so I might try to sneak in a midwife appointment before then, just to hear the heartbeat and put my mind at rest.

Is anyone else 19 weeks and not felt movement yet?

Can't remember who was talking about the Pramette, but I've got one which I loved but which I'm going to sell hopefully as I really need a different pushchair for number two. Will get on the case with that after scan, hopefully.

FifiForgot · 25/08/2009 17:13

verytiredmummy I'm just over 17 weeks and still haven't really felt the baby move, just the odd flutter that may or may not be movement. DD was a real wriggler so I'm a bit nervous. I have a midwife appointment tomorrow, so hopefully I'll hear the heartbeat. I am a total wreck this time round, I really can't believe how laid back I was with DD!

My 20 week scan is on 16 September, we will be asking about the sex, mainly because I am convinced that this one is a boy and I need time to prepare myself for another girl. Not that I'm bothered either way, but Mum has 3 granddaughters and I know she would love a grandson. This is her last chance - no more for me or SIL!

Crumpette I painted DD's room at 36 weeks last time, I think you are OK as long as the room is well ventilated, but I do remember the paint smelling particularly nice (DH was a bit worried about the amount of time I spent "just checking" the paint!). We were gutting and renovating our previous house and cut it very fine, we moved back in on DD's due date! This time all we have to do is empty the room that will be the baby's. It is laughingly called a study at the moment, but basically its a junk room full of stuff the didn't find a home when we moved, we have A LOT of sorting to do and its nearly September already. On the bright side, only 11 weeks til I finish work - yipee!

helenabeth · 25/08/2009 20:59

verytiredmummy- i'm 19 wks too and concerned by lack of movement. had felt loads by this stage with my first two. i'm in the high risk hospital clinic on friday before a cardio appt (heart still trying to click back into arhythmia every day) so hope that will put my mind at rest. funny time, this. i feel as though my bump has shrunk too!

maygirl · 25/08/2009 21:55

I'm 18 weeks and not feeling huge amounts of movement in the bump, though did feel first kick early at 13 weeks. But not worried as I was told at 12 week scan my placenta is anterior- on front of bump. Had midwife appointment yesterday and she couldn't find heart beat as placenta is huge and covering all over front of bump, and is very very noisy! she could tell baby ok in there but couldn't get the sound. I would have been worried then, but luckily have my own doppler and for some reason I can get HB straight away myself everytime.

Not feeling great about weight gain in this and prev pregnancy, but last time did enjoy it once had an obvious bump, even though I was huge I felt proud, fit and healthy. It helps that DH really loves my pregnant shape too!

I took monthly pics of the bump, sideways, full on and a close up showing tape measure round navel last time, and have started the same this time. I love looking back at them with disbelief at my size, final girth measurement was 44 inches, and I'm only 60 inches tall! Pics also helping DS1 understand whats going on, he likes to see himself in mummy's tummy.

ahh just looked, bump 2 inches bigger this time at same point! Oh well, I know I'll enjoy looking at the pics when I'm old and grey too sazlocks!

I gotta be good with food and exercise as family history puts me at really high risk of gestational diabetes, and do not want to have to deal with that.

dal21 · 26/08/2009 08:07

Morning all!!

Good luck Dizzy with your scan today and for the others with scans!

Crumpette - you will be fine painting, just keep windows/ doors open and wont be a problem. I painted the whole top floor of our previous house when I was preggers with DS.

Re. the weightgain, I really obsessed about it first time round but I was back to pre pregnancy weight to the lb 9 months after DS was born. So this time round am heaps more relaxed! I know it will come off again, once I stopped bfeeding with DS and started running again, the last 7lbs melted off.

20 week scan in 6 days! Yay! Am feeling the bub move quite a bit, more so in the last 2/3 days. So fingers crossed all will be ok.

We also have sent DS off to my mums with his cousin - first time away from him for more than a night. And...he is having a wonderful time! Not asked for me once! . DH and I making the most of a few nights free and heading to a wonderful Italian not too far from us for dinner tonight! Yum! Cannot wait!

Have fab days all!

CantThinkofFunnyName · 26/08/2009 10:16

Morning all. Well, on the weight gain - I'm thinking I must win the award for most so far!! I was 9st 2lb at conception, by 12 weeks had gained 1st, and now at 20 weeks, have gained in total since conception 1st, 11lb!! And I'm only half way - eeeek!!! I'm doing pilates each week, ate loads and constantly during first 12 weeks due to awful nausea, but really haven't been bad at all since - in fact, I've been v v good. Gained 4st in total with DC1 but only 2st with DC2 due to constant sickness.

So - who can beat that then - come on you lovely lardies, make me feel better??

somewhathorrified · 26/08/2009 11:04

crumpette regarding paint: If you are concerned about painting then go with something that says "minimal/low VOC content", (Volatile Organic Compound I think) or anything that claims to be environmentally kind is absolutely fine. Admittedly I still use certain things which are very high VOC as sometimes there are no alternatives (e.g knot sealing solution), there's no evidence to support the belief that they harm bubs. But whatever makes you more comfortable.

cantthinkofaname my current weight gain is 1st 1lb since conception (now 20+4)...your still in the lead
