As we all talk so fast the last thread is nearly full so thought I would start us off on a new one

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Good luck for thurs alibobins! Mine's not until the beginning of sept, I have no ideas about the sex. Last time I thought I was having a boy and couldn't believe the sonographer that it was a girl.

lilacpink · 15/08/2009 23:37

Hi All

anyone else have trouble sleeping? I'll go of now, but may not sleep until 1ish, and it won't be strange to wake at 3-5am!! I have had insomnia before and wonder if it's this or it the hormones are triggering this? I don't sleep in the day, and don't even feel tired. Not sure if I should get my thyroid levels checked if this keeps up (I'm slightly low in iron and always have slightly low blood pressure i.e. pass-out if stand too long), but thyroid ok so far I think.

Alibobins, I'm having a scan this Thu too, v.excited and scared. Quirky - I'd been thinking boy first time round and had a girl, second time preg not successful and I thought a boy, think this time round it could be a boy too. I'm happy either way tho, just want to know now!

nervoussara · 16/08/2009 01:18

Hi all.
Thought I would be able to relax by now as 16+2 but been to loo and wiped bright red blood. Freaked. Been on phone to nhs and they said bed rest unless it gets worse. They spoke to gyne at local hospital. Am really freaked but trying to be hopeful. Will have to wait til mon to have a scan. Hope the rest of you guys are okay. Sorry for my ramble

timmette · 16/08/2009 06:59

Hi nervoussara oh I bet you are worried, try and get some rest. I hope you get good news at the scan on Monday. Maybe it's cervical errosion.

sockmonkey · 16/08/2009 07:26

nervoussara hope you are feeling better today. Fingers crossed for you.

lilacpink yes I'm having trouble sleeping. I am tired all the time though. I'm used to sleeping on my front so just can't seem to get comfortable. I mowed the grass front & back yesterday hoping I'd wipe myself out, but still couldn't settle... not helped by fact that both DSs were up in the night & DH was snoring and farting -after-- a curry

Did manage to have a dream I was having a boy though, even though we are fairly sure this one is a girl. Only a couple of weeks till scan now.

alibobins · 16/08/2009 10:18

nervoussara fingers crossed for you try and take it easy.
I bled at 12 15 and 30 weeks with ds and it turned out to be a cervical erosion.

dal21 · 16/08/2009 13:32

Nervoussara - rest and try your best to relax. Am sure everything will be fine

Lilacpink - I dont have trouble falling asleep but definitely wake at some point in the night wide awake - but I dont get up and eventually I fall back asleep.

My next scan is 2 weeks tmrw - and we are planning to find out what we are having!! Excited! Aside from that, have heaps of energy and am using it to get tons more done on the house. We moved into this house in December and I swear the additions/ alterations are never ending!

Hope everyone else is enjoying the weekend. It is lovely and sunny and warm in my neck of the woods!

bethoo · 16/08/2009 14:01

nervoussara i think they only worry if it is accompanied by cramps and if it is just a little blood when you wipe then chances are it is like others have said, cervical erosion. i had a tiny drop two weeks ago and not bled since. have you bled since you wiped? sorry if TMI!

I was about to ask when everyone is having their scans, mine is on wednesday, i cant be the first surely?
i suspect a girl as my dp has two girls from his previous marriage so am thinking he only produces girls? am i being too presumptious?

timmette · 16/08/2009 14:07

bethoo I have a scan on Monday and I know this one is a boy we saw him last month also in dh family there have been no girls born in 60 years on his dad's side. So it may well be a girl.

bethoo · 16/08/2009 14:09

i thought as much! he will be gutted as wanted a son too but he is still going ot be pleased whatever the outcome. i really should be focussing on a healthy baby more than gender!

timmette · 16/08/2009 14:50

bethoo I am no medical professional and will probably be wrong - lol. I guess it's wait and see.

quirkychick · 16/08/2009 15:26

nervoussara good luck for Mon, as others have said if it not getting worse and there are no cramps then it is probably cerival erosion. The scan will set your mind at rest - how horrible for you.

bethoo a friend of mine's dh has 2 boys from previous marriage but they have 2 girls from this one! So, who knows... We have majority boys on my side of the family and a mixture on dp's. Would like to find out, though.

nervoussara · 16/08/2009 20:29

Well guys I'm in hospital for obs in ante natal ward. Sure it will be fine. The girl next to me is in early throws of labour with very loud fetal monitor. Not sure sleep will happen tonight. My babys heart beat is good so that is positive. Hope you guys are all well.x

lilacpink · 16/08/2009 21:36

nervoussara hope being in hosp and hearing heartbeat is helping you relax as much as you can. When I had a small bleed (cervical erosion) I had 'old' blood for a week after, so if you do have anymore and it's darker it may still be ok. Anyhow, I'm sure you're in the best possible place - could the EPU give you a scan to check if there's a reason if this is continuing? For example, I've heard of small bleeds if the placenta is low (near cervix), which aren't neccessarily any prob in preg, just scary when it happens to you. Best wishes that all is ok.

lilacpink · 16/08/2009 21:39

Doh - just saw you're having a scan Mon. Good luck, hope there's either no reason (i.e. just cervical erosion), or a straight-forward reason that's ended now.

quirkychick · 17/08/2009 12:23

nervoussara keeping fingers crossed for you. Good heartbeat is a positive thing - but know what you mean about sleep and hospitals. You don't get much, either from the noise around you or because they are checking up on you. Hopefully you'll be out soon and all ok.

bethoo · 17/08/2009 12:37

nervoussara fingers crossed for you today that all will be fine.
i hate staying in hospital though last time when i was in the labour ward with my dd it was her who kept everyone awake! .
i always seem to have the babies that refuse to sleep in the plastic cot thing!
teo days til my scan and just hope that the baby is fine!

somewhathorrified · 17/08/2009 15:09

nervoussara thinking of you...let us know how you are when you get a chance.

bethoo got my scan in 10 days, can't believe I'm nearly 5 months pregnant!

Really struggling with sleeping on my left...got a bad (left) shoulder and constantly wake up then result to sleeping on my back. How important is the left side sleeping vs sleeping on your back...does anyone know?

Fraochsmum · 17/08/2009 15:16

Hope all goes well today nervoussara, as has been said, you are in the best place for checking everything is ok.
Bethoo, my next appointment is on Wednesday too (20 weeks today), but we only get 1 scan at 12 weeks. Is it because of where I live (South West rural Scotland), or is everyone else paying for these scans? I was really surprised because they are fantastic at having regular appointments/providing support & advice/post natal care etc, and just assumed they would have a 20 week scan too. We could find out the sex, but would need to pay for the privilage and it isn't that important to us. DP was very dissapointed not to get to see him again so is coming on wed to hear him instead!

timmette · 17/08/2009 15:43

Hi everyone had my scan baby is a few days smaller than my dates and is transverse lie. I got a choice of 2 c section dates the 24th Dec or the 31st Dec , so we have gone for the 24th Dec. And he is still a boy.
Hope all the other scans go well today.

alibobins · 17/08/2009 17:08

congrats timmette.
Did you know you were having c section?

timmette · 17/08/2009 17:19

Thanks alibobins kind of had one with ds also for transverse lie, apparently I have a funny shaped uterus and they have to go head down very early like now or they just can't get head down - the doctor thinks he is already stuck like this - but is happy for me to have a vbac if he moves - which is unlikely so they booked me in but we can cancel if anything changes.

quirkychick · 17/08/2009 17:29

Congratulations, timmette. My dad's birthday is 24th Dec. What a fab Christmas present for you.

crumpette · 17/08/2009 17:34

Hello

timmette glad to hear your scan went well, except the transverse lie. It's good that it's picked up this early where you are (I'm sure NHS would only find out at 39+6 after 20hrs in labour! ) plus you get a christmas baby!!!

Had a scan today, but not an anomaly scan, just checking fluid levels. It was really quick and the sonographer I had was soooo moody! I didn't ask about the sex of the baby as DP wasn't with me and she was so rude anyway I was a bit scared couldnt see any dangly bits but her arm was in the way!

I have my 'proper' scan on sept 2nd now. They found sufficient fluid, but it's only on the 5th centile, so it's quite low. No more leaking. I was sternly told off for not going to labour ward..

BP still high, urine still has protein, but not a massive amount. Have finally got a consultants appt for after my scan in Sept as well

Other than that I have just melted an entire bar of lindt dark choc and eaten the whole bowl of it with a chopped up apple [oink oink] the apple sort of negates the chocolate, right?! x

sleepingalot · 17/08/2009 17:49

Hi everyone, been away for week up in Edinburgh at fringe festival, just trying to catch up with all the news.

nervoussara sorry to hear about your scare, good to hear your baby has good heartbeat though, really hope things have worked out well for you today with scan.

somewhathorrified am with you on struggling to sleep on left...I have pain in left hip and despite really trying to sleep on left wake up on my back.

Congratulations timmette on scan... what a lovely christmas present you will have!
