Hi all, I haven't been on here for a few weeks, I didn't want to jinx my scans really. Silly I know. Scans and tests were all good, which is such a releif after last time.
Been reading your posts and I feel like a fat whale. I have put on half a stone so far and am not 15 weeks til thurs. Blame it on all the plain carbs been eating.
Had very embarrassing night on fri . Went out for a meal with work collegues and started to feel a little odd. Went out to get some fresh air and was sick, sick, sick out in the street for all to see. I think people just thought I was a drunk woman. Has put me off going out for now!
Anyway, hope you have all had a good monday. Oh and my date has been moved to the 28th, I have no idea how you do that on here though!

Hi All

Inflated my gym ball today, but DD decided she'd rather play with it and then I didn't fancy trying it later. I tried Wii Fit, but again DD wanted to do the 'penguin game' so I ended up watching, but the thought was there .

quirky good luck for tomorrow, I hope you get more info.

Morning everyone,

think I've started to feel baby moving, not sure with it being first one??? Was in bed Sun night and turned over and felt a weird fluttering-like sensation, after this it happened a few times during night and then while sitting down with feet up yesterday afternoon. Thought it was yet another pregnancy symptom or funny twinge? It happened again last night. I'm 16+5... any thoughts???

quirky thinking of you today.

nervoussara good to hear all has gone well with scans and tests. I,ve changed your date on the list.

Hi Sleepingalot, I felt that yesterday too but first noticed when I was about your stage - I take it to be baby movements tho I'm sure an experienced mum can confirm that! Cashew has also now become a hard lump that I can feel when I wake up. Yesterday I moved onto my back after lying on my side for a while and he stayed there - it was so funny! Can stll sleep on my front so far - well, with an arm under my bust - so I'm happy!
Best wishes to those with results pending x

singalongamumum · 04/08/2009 08:29

Oh yes, I am pleased to confirm that the 'goldfish in your womb' sensation is indeed the first flutterings of baby movements! Yey! I have had them for a couple of weeks lying down (am now 18+5) and yesterday had the first sensation while shopping in Sainsburys! So exciting!!!!!

sazlocks · 04/08/2009 08:34

Hi Froachsmum and welcome

sleepingalot - thinking I might adopt your name as it suits me as well ! The first time I felt DS move it was exactly as you describe - a sort of fluttering. I didn't realise for a while what it was. I think I can feel this one fluttering already but the Doc who did my nuchal scan thinks its wind which is nice !
All well otherwise - had an ante natal check yesterday and nothing of any excitement to report.
Hope all well with everyone

Oh yes you can feel baby moving now - I feel like there is someone doing the dishes in there, it has been getting quite uncomfortable I wonder if he is in a strange position.

Am developing strange eating habits cucumbers, tomatoes and watermelon in huge quantities and meat.

somewhathorrified · 04/08/2009 10:59

I did have the fluttering thing a couple of weeks ago not noticed anything since scan, but it's hard to tell being a vegetarian (my stomach is always making weird noise and movements!).

alibobins · 04/08/2009 11:14

Hi all well went to see Oliver in London last night and little beany must have enjoyed it s/he was doing a dance

Just over two weeks until I fing out if going to have dd2 or ds2 I really don't mind but dd want a sister and ds wants a brother so someone is going to lose out lol

CantThinkofFunnyName · 04/08/2009 11:18

Morning everyone. I'm freshly back from a consultant appointment - my first one, who put my due date BACK to 14th again... plus referred for various MRI/MRA scans due to an existing problem (artery in neck/head split back in September) so they want to see what its doing now and whether it will affect me pushing baby out!! Chances are we'll have to go for elective c-section! Anyway, all is well and below are the revised due dates, putting me back to a mere 16+5!!

morning ladies, hope everyone is well.

CantThinkofFunnyName · 04/08/2009 12:40

Bethoo Stay in and play on MN! I'm going to curl up on sofa and watch a movie I think - aaah bliss

Dizzyclarebear · 04/08/2009 12:54

baby is wriggling away here today too!

I weighed myself this morning, I've gained just over 2 kilos. That's about right, isn't it? I just keep telling myself as the baby is arriving in January, I'll be wearing warm baggy jumpers anyway and can worry about loosing the weight closer to the summer

sleepingalot · 04/08/2009 16:05

Yes, I do think it is first movements as they have continued today...particularly when driving n lady ga ga came on radio!Don't think it's wind as I've got that too...and am used to the windy pains (tmi) Exciting stuff...not the wind

sazlocks you're more than welcome to share my name... although I think I might change mine to peealot at the moment!!!

alibobins...it could be worse, my goddaughter wanted her mum to have a baby duck when she was expecting dc2...she was most disappointed when it was a brother...but loves him to bits now!

Dizzyclarebear I like the theory of baggy jumpers...think I may have to invest. I actually read in a magazine article yesterday that a lb a week is fine...made me feel a whole lot better and that it WAS ok to have a third kit-kat

londonlottie poor you carpal tunnel can be very painful. It might be worth asking around to see if there is anymore advice.

Thank you everyone for your kind thoughts. The consultant was useful as was phoning ARC (Antenatal Results and Choices). We've pretty much decided not to go ahead with the amnio as the risk of mc is higher than ds. My nuchal was within normal range, there were no abnormalities on the scan and we've decided that we will live with the risk. I am looking forward to enjoying the rest of my pg. Also, the fact that they are soon moving the cut off to 1/150 made us think we are risking a lot.

It has been really useful to have the support and to unload how I feel on here too.

Hi londonlottie I also just came back from hols in France lol. But here we also go straight to gynaecologist who also does the scanning it's great and I get to see the babe at every appointment if I want too.
What you will need for babies, I have already bought a pram and had it sent to my sis as they are much cheaper in the UK than here.
Things like cots, moses baskets, car seats , prams etc are much more expensive here. So maybe focus on things like that to begin with. The plugs will be wrong on things like sterilisers and baby monitors - and while you can use an adaptor it may well invalidate your contents insurance to do so.

quirkychick · 04/08/2009 18:58

londonlottie thanks for your post.

Baby basics are hard because I think everyone is different in what they use. Babies don't actually use moses baskets and baby baths for very long. We had them given to us but the moses basket had been through 3 babies before dd and the handles nearly broke. My parents bought a soft carry cot from France which was much better. The products info on MN is really useful for best baby stuff.

Dizzyclarebear · 04/08/2009 19:15

sleepingalot - surely kitkats are required for balanced PG diet? They are in our house anyway....

londonlottie - a lot of baby books have them - I read (whisper it) the Gina Ford book, and what ever you think of the rest of it, the chapter on 'what you need' is pretty good and quite clear about what you don't need but Mothercare shareholders want to convince you to get... but have a look in a book shop and see if any have a good list.

maygirl · 04/08/2009 19:40

Hi Londonlottie. A friend of mine had carpel tunnel and I'm sure had an injection (a corticosteroid & anti-inflammatory pain killer i think?) directly into her wrist, and was given a splint support to wear. Think was just after having her baby, so she was breastfeeding, but not pregnant. Not sure if this makes a difference to what meds you can be given.
Baby basics wise, I think you were also interested in bambineo bamboo nappies? www.bumfluffnappies.co.uk has a closing sale on at the moment and this make are going cheap! I've recently ordered a Bambineo Teddy one to try and a Berry Plush!

I'm just 15 weeks today with DC2 and yesterday bump was moving so much DH could see it, think have a boisterous one in there!!

maygirl · 04/08/2009 19:43

Now bambinex, not bambineo nappy-wise! Changed names 3 times now, were wambamboo when i bought for DS1!

londonlottie co-sleeping is great! It was a life saver for me and dd. If you do decide to co-sleep "Three in a bed" is a fab book about the benefits/various possibilities including with twins. Am veering towards a side-car cot this time, but maybe dd's cotbed will work. GF's list of what you need is quite strict iirc. Like you say, it is hard to know what type of mummy you will be until you are one. Think there was a thread on here with what people found useful.
