I had a great night last night Yipeeeeeeeee.............

DS went down at 8.30 I went to bed at 11.30 and he hadn't woken so I left him. I couldn't sleep so gave him a dream feed which he took and went straight back down. He then woke at 3 and fed for ages but went straight back down and then woke up at 5 for a a feed and went straight back down... DD woke us both at 8!!!!!!!! Woooooohhhhhhhoooooooooooooooooooooo

Diege · 24/07/2009 09:53

Morning! Have a few minutes while ds is sleeping and dd3 engrossed in Barbie Pegasus..Hope everyone is well - have been reading through but didn;t have a chance to post yesterday as at hairdressers am, hospital pm. MOOS, congrats on another dd!! Three dds are great - it's lovely to see how dd3 just fits in with the others - I wouldn;t haave it any other way
LB, as others have said, difficult to know what to suggest re: O's sleeping, but I do feel for you. I really feel it's just a phase, but then you have the added concern of the reflux, so whereas I might let mine cry it out for a while, having vomiting added into the mix does change things. Hang on in there and let it all out on here!
Mind is zonked so apologies if I missed anything really important!
Saw the consultant yesterday to go through labour notes. Finally things seem to be slotting into place, and I'm feeling happier that there really was nothing that could have been done to avoid a section. He was too big for my pelvis by quite a margin, and was also pushing down sideways on. He tried to turn (hence the swelling on his head where it was molding)but couldn;t fit throguh pelvis, hence turned back sideways so couldn;t be born. At least I know that being active/squatting etc would have helped a little but not enough to effect the progress of his birth. Think I may attempt a birth story on here a little later if that's ok and doesn;t seem too self-indulgent!
Better get dressed as plumber here soon as we have a leak in the bathroom!!
Hope we'll hear from LBOT soon - maybe she's labouring as we speak!!!

Diege · 24/07/2009 09:56

Yay LB!!! Bet you feel like a new woman

Kayzr · 24/07/2009 10:00

LB, YAY!!!! I am so pleased for you. Long may it continue!

essenceofSES · 24/07/2009 10:01

Morning!

Happy due date LBOT!!

Diege - do post your birth story! May seem self indulgent to you but I don't know anyone that doesn't like a read of one!

Bumps - yay for good night

Niece left yesterday afternoon. It was great having her stay.

Today I'm going to a meet a friend from work for lunch. Will be the longest journey I'll have done with DS in the car on my own - 45 mins each way. Hope he settles ok.

Diege · 24/07/2009 10:28

Morning SES! Thanks, yes will post BS, hopefully today when I get a bit of peace later on! Don't worry about your journey, it will be fine!! He'll probably drop off, and even if he does scream the whole way at least he's 'enclosed' and no-one else can hear
Right, 10.30 means feed-time, so back later!

glaskham · 24/07/2009 10:31

Morning ladies- My poorlies are getting better- DS is almost back to himself despite a little temp still. DH is looking better than yesterday but felt awful first thing.... think getting up and moving helps him.

still no sign of any of us girls having it though- which is a relief!!

idreamofbeanie · 24/07/2009 10:46

Hooray LB - that's fantastic!

Glask - glad the poorlies are feeling better and you girls seem to have avoided it.

Diege - glad the meeting with the consultant went well. Do post your BS, I love reading them and it's good for us pregnant ladies to remember that sometimes things don't go according to plan but you still end up with a gorgeous LO like J!

Ses - enjoy your lunch.

Kay - it's great to hear some positive comments on home births. I have spoken to a few people who have had babies recently and planned a home birth or to be in a midwife-led centre but they have transferred to hospital and said "it's awful, so much worse than I thought, just go straight to the hospital and take all the drugs you can". It was making me wobble a bit about trying for a home birth so I love hearing the good stories too .

I saw Kay had posted LBOT's syndicate and thought I might have a guess then noticed I already have 1 on there. I don't even remember doing that .

GYo · 24/07/2009 11:04

Morning all

LB- hurray, what a great night for you, well deserved. Hope you feel better for it!

Ses- Im sure O will be fine in the car, i love car journeys with DD, as long as we are moving- means I can talk to friends (hands free of course) in silence
I've got one those mirror things that fits to headread behind DDs seat, its really great to see if she is asleep or just looking out of the window.

IDOB- I had the same wobbles before my homebirth, I was so worried about the transfer in. Didnt happen to me and I know I was lucky given the size of DD etc. But the people I know who planned HBs and ended up in hospital went way before it was really uncomfy to do so, usually for reasons such as meconium in waters, iffy heartrates etc.

Think with a first timer, they will err on side of caution and keep examining to check position, heartrate and any doubt they will get you in. I would have been ok to go in comfortably (ish- that is , no worse that going in for a planned hospital birth) up to about 7cm) then it would been harder, but not impossible.

I am so pleased that I did it at home now for the first time- happy to talk more about it via FB if you'd like.

Glask- glad poorlies are better, we all have colds but normal straightforward ones. Not an inkling of swine about them thank goodness.

Hi everyone else

Gruff are you lurking ?

Moosy · 24/07/2009 11:14

Hooray for your good night LB, now you know he can do it, let's hope he does it again!

Glask, good to hear your boys are improving . Our builder has a sore throat, head ache and temp but is still working so not sure what to think, but I'm staying away!

Glad you're feeling better about things Diege, and yes please post your BS, I love reading them!

IDOB, DD2 was born at home and now I don't even consider going to hospital to have this one, it hasn't even entered my head as an option. It's great, you're in your own surroundings with your own things, no one else is queueing for your bed/pool, you have 1:1 then 2:1 midwife care (although DD2 came so quickly the 2nd MW didn't get there in time!), if you do need to go in to hosp you get an ambulance and you get prioritised when you do arrive - I can't think of anything bad about it! Oh yes, and you'll be tucked up in your own bed in no time afterwards, wondering why people ever choose to have their babies in hospital!

Kayzr · 24/07/2009 11:22

Also IDOB, I sent DH for a chinese!!! 3 hours after DS2 arrived we were tucking into a chinese and watching tv. Now you don't get that in hospital!!

glaskham · 24/07/2009 11:23

IDOB- out of the 3 labours i've had, all were completley different- i'd go for the home-birth any day!!

idreamofbeanie · 24/07/2009 11:39

Thanks all - I've been totally happy with my home birth decision until recently and just ignored any negative comments but I seem to have had a stream of people (mostly new mothers) implying it's just because it's my first so I don't know how awful the whole experience will be. I'm not stupid - I'm expecting labour to be tough and painful and if I can't cope or anything goes wrong I'm prepared to transfer to hospital but I really feel I'll manage better in my own home with the lovely home birth midwife (all the ones I've met so far are fantastic), my birth pool and staying as mobile as possible.

Why is it than suddenly in late pregnancy everyone wants to be negative about labour, birth and the 'terrible' first few weeks when you're exhausted, with bleeding nipples, aching bits and no idea what you are doing . Sorry to rant but just sick of all the horror stories people want to share all of a sudden. No-one has anything good to say at this point!

PS GYo - would love to hear more about your home birth via FB so feel free to discuss as much as you like.

idreamofbeanie · 24/07/2009 11:40

Sorry - bit of a hormonal crazy pregnant woman mood there .

Moosy · 24/07/2009 11:49

IDOB, I don't know why people are so negative, maybe they're just trying to make sure you don't have some whimsical idea that it's going to be just like you see on telly - oof, oof, ooo a baby and my hair's still perfect! It is hard work, and the first couple of weeks can be hellish, but it's also amazing and you get a lovely little baby to coo over 20 minutes after DD2 was born DH was spoon feeding me pancakes

sorky · 24/07/2009 11:58

Hb is fab I've had 3 hwb and would def recommend it

btw tho it's not probably what you want to hear, they're being realistic. Labour is hard and painful but perfectly manageable.
Breastfeeding is hard and exhausting but get past 6 weeks and it's absolutely fantastic, just most give up before then. My nipples have never bled and I do wonder at this comment cos in general, ime, it seems to come from people who ff.

Whichever way it happens it'll be your birth! Own it, no one else will have given birth like you and it likely won't feel the same next time around, each time is unique and special whether it seems positive at the time or not.

Diege I'd love to hear your BS.

Yay Bumps I knew it was just around the corner for you too

essenceofSES · 24/07/2009 12:13

Just about to head off for lunch but DS not settling and seems to be on a feeding frenzy!

IDOB - you've thought this through and plenty on here have good experiences of HB. IME, most people who have had a HB would have one again which speaks volumes.

Re BFing, it is a struggle in the early days. I did have a couple of occassions where my nipples bled - not loads but spots of blood on breast pads and a couple of small scabby areas. I guess for me though, DS would often use his gums instead of his tongue until his tongue was sorted. I think I was so pig headed and assumed I was being a woos!!

GYo - I've got a mirror that attaches to the back windscreen but it only gives a v small view so I need to get another one. I may put him in the passenger seat beside me if I can work out how to turn the airbag off!

Glask - glad to hear your boys are feeling a bit better.

bumpsnowjustplump · 24/07/2009 12:39

ses dont put him in the front even with the air bag of as it is not safe for backward facing car seats to be in the front.... He can not get into any danger in the back so best to be safe...... You will get used to it I promise....

idreamofbeanie · 24/07/2009 12:44

Hi, I've calmed down now . Sorry again for the rant - I've just had a bad week. I have some lovely friends and colleagues who are great with the whole "birth and the first few weeks are hard and exhausting but also wonderful" but this week I just seem to have come across the moaners who have nothing good to say at all. I'm happy to hear the truth so I have realistic expectations but I was getting sick of hearing how it will all be worse than I can imagine and I'll wish I never had a baby!

Right, going back to ignoring the whingers and complainers . Baby is kicking away, I feel great, DP has been here all week and it's almost the weekend - what's not to be happy about .

essenceofSES · 24/07/2009 12:49

Still here, still feeding!

Bumps - thanks, I'll put him in the back.

IDOB - yay for kicks, yay for DP and yay for wkend!

bumpsnowjustplump · 24/07/2009 12:50

And bump has has some sleep i agree idob all is right with the world.

GYo · 24/07/2009 14:00

This is what I've got Ses-
Here

idreamofbeanie · 24/07/2009 16:40

Oops - did all my moaning and whinging kill the thread . Hope you are just all out having fun.

Diege · 24/07/2009 17:06

Yeah you thread killer Just taking a breather, kids driving me crazy, back later!

Kayzr · 24/07/2009 17:21

I was dying on the sofa of a headache. But it's gone now thank god as I've got a driving lesson with mum later.

I have a dilema with ds1. He is in bed asleep, not sure if I should go and wake him for some dinner or not. Any ideas?
