saw m/w this morning head 2-3/5 engaged so labour imminent! DH back friday any time after then ok (ish).

Midwife says baby very long and her prediction is 8l2oz and a girl - i still think it is a boy

Trying to read Juju sundin's book too - hoping it will help with labour.

can someone let me know re earlier post and that jelonet stuff - as would like to order it if it is right before labour begins

nicky6 · 23/06/2009 11:21

that should be 8lb2oz

xxhunnyxx · 23/06/2009 11:32

sleeves I say you should spend an hour or so just havin a quick tidy round so u feel a bit better and then relax this afternoon. Maybe do a bit of sunbathing, afterall it's good for u, it's medically proven that Vitamin D is very important for our growing babies .

chellebelle I think u should just tell DP how u r feeling, that it's all gettin a bit too much etc and hopefully he might just make a bit of effort to be a just a little bit more helpful. Even if he just cleans up after himself I'm sure you'll notice the difference, we all know what messy sods men can be!

Well I've just got back from the MW and she thinks baby might be breech so I'm goin for a scan tomos. Baby has been head down since about 28 weeks and when I went to the hospital on Friday they told me that his head was engaged and in a great position so I'm doubtful that he is breech but I'm happy to be goin for a scan and the thought of havin a c-section doesn't scare me anymore.

Beccabump · 23/06/2009 13:40

Aaaaaaargh!

I am so angry and upset.

Had a phonecall today from a guy asking to come and view our rented house so they can do a valuation for sale - I told him I had no idea what he was on about and could he call back once I had spoken to DH to ask him to check with landlords (work people).

It turns out they told hubby yesterday that they are selling the house and want us out in 2 months (as in contract). DH didn't want to tell me yesterday as I was going out for the evening and was planning on telling me tonight once he had looked at lettings.

I am so angry that these people didn't even have the decency to tell us face to face when they were over here last week - obviously now checking estate agents etc.

Also the fact that they know I am due in 3 weeks - baby will be 7 weeks when we have to move!

We are having to move 6 miles away from all my friends/walking distance to shops/easy access to children's centre and nursery to the middle of nowhere as it's the only sensible thing we can do at the moment.

slushy06 · 23/06/2009 13:55

That is really bad luck becca Landlords can be such a**eholes. Hope you find somewhere quickly.

BonzoDoodah · 23/06/2009 14:04

oh crap becca what awful timing! What gits!
Can you not work on a couple of months extension with them? (out of common decency and compassion?). The only good thing is the rental market shoud be quite slack at the moment so hopefully you will find something. But what utter gits!

Beccabump · 23/06/2009 14:15

thanks for the replies

unfortunately they are definite on the date (I think they want to move back in whilst the sale goes through) we are lucky in that we know we won't be homeless but I just know how hard it's going to be in the middle of nowhere for 6 months with a new baby and 2 yr old

chellebelle · 23/06/2009 14:27

Oh Becca, how rubbish for you!! Have you got lots of family/friends that can help with the move itself? Is there nowhere closer to where you are now that is appropriate/free? We had to move to somewhere random for 6 months while we waited for the purchase of our house now to go through, the good nes is that it flies by, the down side is that while you're in it you really feel like you're in limbo. Have you had chance to check out what there is in the area, a park/community centre/something useful? If there is at least a park in the area then maybe you can have lots of trips and walks to the park with a picnic or something? Or if you have a half decent garden then maybe a few cheap outdoor toys and sandpit plus eating al fresco brightens up my little ones' day all the time.

BonzoDoodah · 23/06/2009 14:32

bummer! And just when you need to be near people - with the new baby.

My DH and I always say that 'LANDLORD' is two four-letter words!

Anyone heard from JLo2?? She should have had her baby and be back here by now .....

bozette · 23/06/2009 14:43

Hi all, i've gone for option 7- no attempt at all to do anything useful, sent DS to childminder, slept this morning and now sat in sun eating strawbwrries!!

nicky6 i looked, thats the right stuff, you'll be able to divide the squares further. I don't actually know about washing it off before feeding as never used it last time as didn't think of it then. I will use it this time as i'm sure it will be necessary, and will probably wipe it off because the paraffin stuff is essentially like vaseline and i wouldn't like a mouthful of that!! saying that, its sterile, and you don't have to wash lansinoh off either and i wouldn't want to have a mouthful of that either!! I've got lots of photos of DS post feeding with a shiny greasy mouth!!

Becca what a nightmare! You poor thing, moving is bad enough at the best oftimes let alone with a 7 week old. I hope you at least had a good night out last night. Will you at least be able to drive to civilization easily?

Thats me now off to costa to meet up with some mummy freinds, but without DS! I am a bad woman!! (but he did start asking for his CM at 7am!!)

mickeylou · 23/06/2009 14:49

Aw becca - sorry to hear that.
what a sweetheart your DH sounds though for not spoiling your night last night when he must have really wanted to vent about it.

i am so bloody hot and bothered today. i am on the third floor at work and the stairs are killing me. feet feel swollen and hot and i am just fed up. its my last day at work tomorrow but instead of being happy i'm wishing i was finishing today. grumble, groan, whinge etc.

justlookatthatbooty · 23/06/2009 15:32

Did anyone else just feel totally unmotivated and too tired to work at 35+3? I cancelled all my clients today coz I just feel too sluggish. Might have something to do with DS keeping us up til 2.30am. the sluggishness, just feel like being at home, tidying and sleeping.

Hope things improve for you re your housing quandry Becca...damn that's bad timing. Could there be any kind of silver lining to this one? Just trying to see if there's a brighter note, sorry! Big sqeeze to you.

x

lydiathetattooedlady · 23/06/2009 16:27

hey
becca thats really shit news! i hope you get something sorted!
its so hot here, when getting dressed this morning i opted for a strapless top. have had two hospital appointments and potted round town...then discovered i havent shaved my arm pits...GROSS! and i was yawning and stretching and allsorts whilst in waiting room. poor, poor people who had to witness that!
baby is 3/5 engaged and fixed(whatever that means) they've now said what i may be experiencing is an irritable uterus! never heard of it. im sure thay're making it up as they go along! and im still losing huge amounts of plug which is making me feel rather un-clean when not able to use my own lovely clean toilet to sort myself out! my midwife doesnt think i'll go over, but obviously no-one can predict that! im really hoping its soon!! oh am also now measuring 41 1/2 weeks eeek!
is everyone else ok today??

xxhunnyxx · 23/06/2009 17:03

becca that really is rather poo, but I agree your DP is v thoughtful to not tell u last night. U never know tho, u might just end up finding somewhere even better n be even happier there, I like to believe these things happen for a reason. It's just really really crap timing tho x

bozette what are these nipple things we're all getting? I want some.

booty I felt totally unmotivated at work from about 8-36 weeks (when I finished). I found it really difficult to pretend to give a shit about anything. How much longer have u got left?

lydia it does sound like it wont be long for u now, esp if you've lost so much plug, I've not lost any more since weekend.

c-sections - can u really not drive for 6 weeks after or is this just what they say? I've come to terms with the possibility of havin one but cos I live on my own it really would be a bit of a pain if I can't drive. However, there could be some very sparkly silver lining as I can just get people to ferry me around and I wont be expected to take baby to visit everybody.

Beccabump · 23/06/2009 17:28

xxhunnyxx I think the driving thing is also tied to some insurance companies - it may be worth checking when you are covered to drive by them - I think it's a pretty standard estimation my the doctors though

LargeGlassofRed · 23/06/2009 17:45

becca, what a nightmare for you our rental is due to finish in Jan and I'm dreading moving again.

Well had quite an eventful day, managed to bash my bump into the corner of the bannister this morning causing a massive purple bruise all down one side, rang the midwife who advised me to have a trace to check all was ok.
All fine with them and monitoring showed contractions every 10 mins or so.
My midwife came this afternoon to do a sweep but only a finger tip open so hard to do, still having contraction but short and not getting any closer together, really hope they pick up, have had enough of being pregnant now.

Phoenix · 23/06/2009 18:19

Becca - That is really crappy timing, hope you end up finding somewhere loads better

hunny - Once you can do an emergency stop your insurance company should let you drive. I was driving last time within the 6wks and i don't think i rang my insurance company, i just felt well enough to drive.

My BP was high at the midwife but it came down (still high but my normal level iykwim) after a few attempts. They were getting ready to send me up to the hospital for monitoring though. I'm seeing the consultant anyway on Thursday so she said to see what they say about it been high then. Everything else fine with baby. I'm measuring 41cm (same as last thursday) and he's head down but not engaged.

QueenFee · 23/06/2009 20:03

becca you never know you may meet some lovely new friends when you move x

i'm p'd right off now normal everyday activities have just got too much for me I am weepy crabby and I know i'm being hard on the kids my midwife measured me as small for dates this time - wha rubbish then admitted that it depends on the way the baby is lyin - too right otherwise my bump has shrunk 2 cm in 4 weeks
having regular bh but sadly not painfull enough to get excited yet

bit worried about Jlo hope shes had the baby and is just wrapped up in new mum stuff x

Phoenix · 23/06/2009 20:20

Do you know i'm so rubbish, it's like this is my 1st pg. I don't even know what are BH and what is the baby moving . I know my bump is going hard quite alot which is prob BH's but other times i just don't know what is going on

I'm soooooooo hot still.

Beccabump · 23/06/2009 20:21

QueenFee I wish! Luckily I will still have my mum's around me from Bude, it will just be a complete faff with a newborn and 2 year old to get anywhere to do anything initially!

The people who will be around us I already know of as we are possibly moving into my friends old house! The guys next door are techies and very quiet, the older couple on the other side keep to themselves and the rest of the houses are groups of younger guys - also techies

Patchybob · 23/06/2009 20:22

Queenfee keep your chin up, I don't think this weather helps, makes me extra super crabby!!

I was thinking about Jlo2 aswell, probably just engrossed in the baby!

Becca that isn't great timing, but it will work out ok in the end, it is amazing what you can achieve when you put your mind to it. To put a positive slant on it, it will be easier moving when the baby is small that when you have 2 toddlers!!

Off to get the last few bits for my bag tomorrow. Feel the need to get it all sorted. Am quite envious of all of you with niggles and early labour signs, nothing happening here except bump getting bigger by the day!!!

hunny good luck tomorrow, let us know the news. I have my head around the c section thing now and am viewing it as a very positive thing! Everyone who has an elective keeps telling me how serene it is.....oh how I like the sound of that!!

bozette · 23/06/2009 21:01

hunny the nips stuff is called jelonet and is a non-sticky gauze to put on them when they are chewed up to help them heal. Deeply appealing things to look forwards to!!

Driving after c-section, i did after 3 1/2 weeks. The key thing as above is to be able to do an emergency stop. I phoned my insurance company who said i needed to see GP to confirm i was okay, so just popped in and got them to make a note on my record to cover it. I don't trust insurance companies and small print and exclusions so was very cautious. Having said that, my household insurance company didn't even question when i claimed for the diamond that fell out of my engagement ring in gatwick airport on the way back from my hen party in amsterdam!! (True story!!)

ilikeyoursleeves · 23/06/2009 21:30

Becca sorry to hear that you are having to move- what a pain and such bad timing! Hope it all goes better than you expect.

Phoenix I am crap too, I still don't know what BH's feel like and this is my 2nd pregnancy! My belly goes rock hard at times too but I have no pain or anything- is that a BH then?

Mega nesting OMG today I ended up doing the following:
-washed the dishes twice
-2 loads of washing and hung them out
-changed bed linen
-hoovered everywhere as in even moved furniture out the way!
-dusted
-cleaned the bathroom so thoroughly it took an hour (!)
-moved hazardous things to top shelves (already had moved some things ages ago but DS is now nosying in the bathroom cupboard)
-cut back part of 2 bushes
-swept garden paths
-did some weeding

Even managed to have some sunbathing and watching of Wimbledon! But I'm so tired so going to bed now. DS is in nursery again tomo so going to get last bits and bobs from the shops then I will be ready for baby!

Gillyan · 23/06/2009 22:42

Hi, its simon gills partner, just thought ide let you know she had the baby today at 12:52pm and was 8lb, both doing fine!!!

Mij · 23/06/2009 22:51

Oh wow - congratulations Gillyan and Simon! They're coming thick and fast now!

Sorry haven't had a chance to read every post but I've put a query into my BF peer support group to see if anyone else has come across jelonet. Our trainer looks at the posts every so often so if she has the low down I think she'll let me know in a few days. It does sound to me, though, that it is a treatment for cracks, and it is in no way inevitable that anyone will get cracked nipples! Latching can certainly be uncomfortable at first (if you haven't had a baby hoover attached to your nips before, in fact even if you have, that fierce sucking that draws the nipple into the baby's mouth takes some getting used to!) but the discomfort should settle after 10-15 seconds of each feed. And engorgement is no fun for anyone (gen up on manual expression so you can just get a bit of milk off to ease the tension) - who mentioned cabbage leaves? Well - it's true. And I think savoy is the best, certainly for shape. Get one in the fridge, and then score the inside of the leaf before shoving it in your bra - honestly, it works, there's something in the juice that works wonders for cooling the heat of engorgement . And savoy cabbage leaves are the perfect shape too (I had to buy a small one though ).
