Sorky, your poor DH! Hilarious! Did you think it was funny or did it wake everyone up?

IDOB - I know what you mean. That nursery sounds really lovely though - is it reasonably priced? Can you ask opinions of it on the Nursery board on here? I found it really helpful. Although I've done nothing about nursery I think it's a bit psychological, you know - in that, if I don't do it, I know DH won't and I'm secretly hoping I won't be able to find the LO a place, so I'll have to stay home ! A bit devious of me, but I'm also hoping we'll be starting to process of moving back to the US so me going back to work is not really a priority. Besides I could probably make the same amount by doing some freelance writing from home as I would if I went back to work full-time and had to subtract nursery fees! Good luck! Are there any others that compared?

LB - so sorry your DD is acting up You're such a star! Hope the return to dairy free is the answer!!!

Can't really remember what else went on today/yesterday But HI to everyone else!

NatalieJane · 17/06/2009 12:41

Oh god the house... long story, will try to keep it short.....

The house has about 27 years left (it would stand for much longer and it is very likely to be extended again, but no garentees of that) so bearing in mind that usually a mortgage would run for 25 years, it's close to the point where any mortgage company would laugh in someone's face if they asked for a mortgage on a house that won't be standing by the end of the mortgage term.

The next problem is that it's a 'non-standard build' basically instead of the usual bricks and mortar, it's concrete, there are two main different concrete builds, one that is using concrete slabs, and our type which is where they build a mould, pour the concrete in, take the mould away, and hey presto, it's a house, our way is still non-standard, but is considered to be a much better bet than the concrete slabs, but, when we bought this place, credit file was pristene, there was nothing wrong, economy wise, the mortgage was only 1.5 times DH's salery, and we still had a bit of trouble finding a mortgage because of the non-stanard build thing, so now a days, I'd guess it's nigh on impossable to get one on it.

So basically we are looking for ideally a cash buyer, did you see that pig fly then?

When we move, we'll be going back to rented, we've both said for such a long time we'll never buy again, and (although I don't like thinking of it this way) if me and DH for whatever reason don't pull through from all of this, then at least we've not just taken out a new mortgage.

We're aiming for an October move, whether this place has sold or not, we may have to rent it out or something.

Where? Well somewhere in mid-south Lancashire, edging into north Mancs possibly, seen a couple of lovely houses in Chorley, another couple in Radcliffe. Problem is, we need a bigger house, and Accrington just doesn't have the sort of house we're after, rows and rows of old terraces with no garden, a few 3 bed semi's (like we're in) and then a handful of houses with the four beds but they don't have the space downstairs that I'm looking for. In fact I've found one over the other side of Accrington that would do us space wise, but the garden is child-hell and it's very close to the landfill and I don't fancy the smell!

So up shot is, we've got practically no chance of selling it, we have to get out of it, so bring on the fun of paying one mortgage and one rent!

Good news though, he thinks he's found the car he want's, praise the lord! Just hope he doesn't change his mind before putting the deposit down tomorrow, I'm not sure I can take many more days of conversations about cars!

sorky · 17/06/2009 12:44

I nearly pmsl after I was awake, he got annoyed I was laughing at him so I stuck my head under the quilt to continue sniggering.
Kids never flickered. He said he nearly had a heart attack it was quite loud, I think because it was the big bubble wrap

No idea about the nursery IDOB, perhaps you get a feel for the right one? I've never used one.

sorky · 17/06/2009 12:49

Crikey Nat what a pickle!

Perhaps letting it out is your best bet then by sounds of it.
LBOT your pg has flown by it seems!

lastboxoftampons · 17/06/2009 13:07

Nat - sounds difficult, but maybe someone will want to buy it straight away. Could you ask around with estate agents to see what their opinions are? I think people are slightly more optimistic about the market these days.

Sorky - it seems to have gone in fits and starts! Sometimes it seems like it's flying by and others it seems like time is standing still. A friend of mine who is due about three days after already has her bag packed and her nursery finished! We don't even have anything for the poor thing to sleep in if he was born tomorrow! We're borrowing a moses basket from a friend, but haven't gone around to get it, still haven't decided on a pram and carseat, and still need a baby monitor. None of it the end of the world as long as we get the moses basket, but it's all coming up soon! Plus, DH is going on a stag do in Barcelona the weekend of 3 July. When he asked me about it i said Sure! Go, have a good time! But now I'm starting to panic! I'm sure it will be fine, but thinking about it, I have no one I'd want to call to be with me should I go into labour. Just home straight jitters I'm sure!

sorky · 17/06/2009 13:53

Eh!
Get that bag packed woman!

hmm, I see what you mean about the 'do', I got very nervous from 37 weeks onwards too.
Looking on the upside, with this being your first, if you do go into labour, whilst he's away, he has every chance of getting a flight back in time for the birth.

How would you feel about asking him to cancel?

lastboxoftampons · 17/06/2009 14:49

oh, i don't really want to ask him to do that. I'm sure it will be fine and he so deserves to go, he's been great throughout this whole pregnancy. There are tons of flights from Barcelona to London - 8 a day on Easyjet alone, so I think he could probably be back within 5 hours or so in an emergency. And really I think I'm just panicking for nothing. I have a mw appointment next Thursday so I'll ask her what she thinks and take it from there.

sorky · 17/06/2009 15:08
lastboxoftampons · 17/06/2009 15:16

I KNOW! I'm just glad he's not in some godforsaken difficult to get to/from Eastern European country where the girls are beer is cheaper than water

sorky · 17/06/2009 15:19

I have honestly just LOL at that LBOT!

girls are cheaper than water, pmsl...that's priceless!

Have you packed that bag yet?

Diege · 17/06/2009 15:59

Hello! Apologies for not keeping up! Have been skimming through but retaining little, but have put up a piccy of Jacob on profile (if it's worked). Will sift throguh all the 100's we've taken already and put more on wagon fb.
Great to see you back NAT! Hoping to get birth story written tomorrow, before I forget it (not likely). Back soon! Oh and would you beleive it we've had an offer on house today based on a viewing nearly a year ago . Are 'sitting in on' till weekend though, as we have lots to think about!

Starshinetiger · 17/06/2009 16:02

Just a flying visit.
Nat - glad you are working things out with DH, really pleased for you and the boys, hope it continues well.
LB - have sent you a message on fb - hope it helps.
Sorky - lol at DH and bubblewrap - made me laugh!

Had real success this afternoon - DD took 1oz ebm from bottle - yay!!!! Only tried 1oz, as didn't want to waste it. Think the problem last time was probably that we tried formula and warmed it too much! Am feeling so much more relaxed now, as long as we continue with bottle every couple of days and me expressing, should be able to go on best friend's hen afternoon/evening in a few weeks time - yay! Electric expresser should arrive in next couple of days - DH won a bargain on ebay for me!

Still not getting much sleep and have a cold, so off to bed when DD does tonight, but she is still only 11lb 8ozs, so sticking to 9th centile like glue - hopefully as she grows, so will her capacity to sleep longer - she has in last couple of days drifted off to sleep on her own in my arms a couple of times, which is fab as up to now it's been feeding to sleep all the way.

IDOB - yay for britax.
LBOT - can't believe you are so close!
GYo - hols sound lovely.

Waves to all others.

P.S. Think DD heard me say yesterday that if she went down by 8pm I would do my exercise DVD for first time since she was born - needless to say, she didn't settle 'til 9pm, which is not normal I really need to start exercising - apart from weight loss needed, I really feel like it (although I know after just 30 mins of Davina I won't be able to walk the next day!)

julesisindahouse · 17/06/2009 16:21

afternoon

cheers for advice nat - sounds like you have thought through everything letting sounds the sensible option.

lastboxoftampons · 17/06/2009 19:03
sorky · 17/06/2009 19:49

Aw Diege he's gorgeous!

glaskham · 17/06/2009 19:55

Diege- lovely little man you have there- just gorgeous!!

Jules- you have to get 'Boom Blox' on the wii- though boom blox 2 has just come out and it is better- but number 1 is fab!! Me and DS were playing it this morning to keep me awake and him behaving!! DD doesn't really get it yet- but does try to join in!!

Nat- house situation sounds a PITA... but i'm sure it'll fall into place on its own.

I'm still ill... DH is saying its all the symptoms of swine flu- hope he's just winding me up!! Luckily he's off tomorrow and the DC's have been very good for me today.

OP posts:
Sparklytwinkletoes · 17/06/2009 22:01

Diege - what a beautiful little man you have there! You look really good considering all you went through too. Congrats again, so pleased for you,

I need a filing cabinet, a wooden three drawer one, for around £150 or less, in a dark wood, that I can look at before buying. Any shopaholics out there got any ideas - I'm fed up of looking online and not getting anywhere [where's the grrrrrr face]?

GYo · 18/06/2009 04:35

grrrr wrote a long post at 11pm but it didnt upload.

Quick one, so we tries the dream feed but it backfired. Dd who has happily been sleeping 7pm til 3am had a DF at 10.30 then woke at 2.30. (she was just chatting to herself so I left her to it) and again at 4.15am. do I perservere and hope she gets it or go back to her previous pattern?

Big tired wave to every one.

sorky · 18/06/2009 05:44

Gyo I would continue to dreamfeed and leave her to gurgle and coo to herself
If she continues to wake up, but is happy to entertain herself and isn't hungry, but is waking you up, then it's time to move her to her own room. Eek!

Starshinetiger · 18/06/2009 06:58

Hey GYo - hols sound fab. On dreamfeed subject, we never got dreamfeeding to work with DS, he just gradually pushed out longer and longer from 7pm. IIRC he went from waking at 3am to waking at 5am in one fell swoop, but probably at about 5 months (sorry if that's not what you want to hear!). But, I know lots of others find dreamfeeding works, so maybe you're better off going with Sorky's advice.

Now, 7pm to 3am... to quote my gorgeous DS... "I want some dat"

SHOCKER here last night - did not get to bed when DD did, as wanted to express off an ounce and ended up getting sucked into last 30 mins of a Gok programme I'd recorded, then by the time I actually put washing in tumble drier, washed and sterilised expresser, etc, she woke 1 hour after I went to bed and apart from the following 2 hours I got, it has been pretty much every hour since Needless to say, gave up at 6am! Tired is not the word for it. Is maybe a growth spurt now she's getting over her cold, but boy it is HARD WORK!

Am going to let DH have a lie in this am as he has then promised to take DS to soft play later and hopefully DD will take a nap and I can too... best laid plans and all that!

Kayzr · 18/06/2009 07:10

Morning,

Diege, he is gorgeous!!! Congratulations!!!

Nat, Glad things seem to be looking up for you. I must agree with toys being everywhere. It drives me mad!! I am very tempted to get a bin bag some days.

Still suffering with my wrist so having to take it easy so not meant to be here this morning really.

Hope you are all ok. I'm off to take painkillers

bumpsnowjustplump · 18/06/2009 07:45

Star I feel your pain.... I am litteraly wipped out, I am not functioning properly!! Its not good at all... I have had a total of 6 hours sleep in two days arrrrrrrrr.

I am going to leave Owen on his meds as well as going dairy free until we go to hospital.. Have got to throw a freezer full of ebm away as well as it will have dairy in it...

DS has a stinking cold as well which isn't helping!!!!

And i feel really sorry for myself

Diege youe DS is so beautiful well done..

glaskham · 18/06/2009 08:44

Morning all- sorry for bad nights.... we had a bit of a breakthrough on sleep front- DD went from a dreamfeed at my bedtime (9.30ish) till 3.30am, then didn't wake again till 6.30am.... i think thats the best she's done so far!!

And on top of a good nights sleep my migrane has gone- still have the cough, blocked nose, sore throat, but just with no migrane i feel 10x better than i did yesterday.

DD2 has her final lot of jabs today ... she's been a bit grouchy this morning- i think she knows whats in store for her this afternoon

DH is off so he's taken DS to nursery, i currently have a sleeping DD2, and a noisy DD1.... plan to do tons of housework as the past 3 or 4 days while i've been badly ill i've not done a thing but lie on the sofa and put a couple of loads of washing out.

OP posts:
Diege · 18/06/2009 09:22

Morning! Bad night here too, though entirely to be expected! Caused in part by Jacob still being very mucuousy after section and sneezing non-stop from 4-5ish which upset him. Dh still off though, so he's stocking up on supplies while I try and get dressed etc . Still waiting for milk to come in ; day 5 now so something amiss; they think combo of GA and section. Did really well in hospital getting bf established, but v.little in way of colostrum so have been combing with formula on advice of nct woman after she cam round and saw how he guzzled down 3ozs after feeding from me for 2.5 hours..So now keeping 'supply' going with breast pump (though nothing comes out) while giving formula. Hopefully, when (if?) milk arrives will be able to combine/bf, or at worst express and use in bottle. Not particularly attached to bf anyway, so not setting myself up for guilt trip!
LB, that's a pain about chucking the EBM. Do you have a milk bank you could donate to? Think you're right to keep meds and dairy-free going. Must be really tough on so little sleep.
GLASK, glad you're feeling better, though don't worry about the housework, look after yourself!
NAT, as others have said house situation sounds tough, but you have things planned and bricks and morter stuff usually sorts itself out in the end So good to have you back!
I know there's loads I've missed, but I am gradually emerging from the mist. I must say I've never been so tearful too after a birth, which I know is hormones etc, but has taken me by surprise!
Oh and LBOX give me a week or so and I'll send on the hypno cd and birth ball to you, if you could post addy on wagon fb?
Right, better get dressed as mw here soon to do heel prick - plus J on his gf nap schedule so only have till 9.45 sharp How long that lasts is anyone's guess!
Oh and thanks for compliments about piccies - have some clearer ones that I'll post on fb today.
