That is disappointing IDOB! I'd be really cross, especially after having looked forward to the clases for so long.As SES says, is there no possibility of squeezing in on another course?
SES, sounds like singing may be in the genes then Would love the dds and ds (still seems stange saying 'ds') to be musical, have always loved singing).
KAYZ, walk sound great - hope weather is good to you!
Hi TINKS! Rain forcast here too, until weekend .
Right, must get on, J will be awake soon. Have had to have a packet of custard creams for brekkie as no milk for cereal

glaskham · 14/07/2009 09:52

Morning- had a mini scare this morning- mum was sent home with suspected swine flu (3 others at her work have confirmed cases) but she's got the all clear... i worried that ruby may have caught it from her.... but luckily all fine!!

Tink- as for xmas and birthday's we go way OTT!! i probably spend around £100 on birthdays and xmas is a nightmare... i always say i'll spend no more than £200 each, but last year ended up spending over £700 between them both!! My problem is that i start really early (already have a stash of xmas presents) and carry on right through the year.... i've owrked out that i have a 'budget' of around £1200 for this xmas but thats to include our xmas tree, xmas lunch and presents for me, DH and all 3 DC's..... something tells me i'll end up spending more as i've been buying bits out of my normal spends already- so the stash i have doesn't count in my 'budget'.... hopeless eh!!

Though, i always have a massive clear-out of all their toys in november as we have DS's birthday and xmas all within the same week... need to make enough room!!

Nice to hear both Owen's are making good progress.

Also DD2 is now going into her 0-3 clothing!! How exiting!! I have a friend who is expecting, but she doesn't know what she's having... she's asked if i'd sell her DD's newborn clothes.... but i dont actually want to part with them yet if that makes any sence- i mean she didn't get to wear anything more than once, and i bought her lots of bits from next and the designer shop too.... want to keep them forever as i love them!! I spent all pregnancy and while she was getting bigger building up that wardrobe and after a couple of weeks they aren't needed.... i'm upset because she's my last baby i think- i wanna keep everything for sentiment value!!

hi

glas - glad all well with ur mum and ruby!!

wow about going into her 0-3 mnth clothes bless her bracken is in 6-9 mnths and 9-12 mnth clothes ones that dd1 wore there is loads of summer dresses and tshirts they look abit big but wont get worn when she is 9-12 mnths as will be winter then dont want them going to waist.
i am like you with spending i have already bought dd1 one of her xmas pressys as in sale in tesco like to be organised

idreamofbeanie · 14/07/2009 11:13

Hi, I have written to the NCT class organiser to ask whether she could squeeze us on to another course but her autoreply says she works part-time and takes up to 7 working days to respond so no idea when we will hear. Fingers crossed she comes up with something.

We have always had huge xmas celebrations and my parents still go OTT on buying pressies for my DN and cousins so I imagine I won't be able to help myself doing the same . I love xmas shopping! DB and I both have birthdays in early January though so we don't really get anything for that - as kids we usually got a book and had a small party. We won't need to buy anything for the baby for xmas this year as she will only be 3 months old but I bet we can't help ourselves and we'll get a few bits. I'm already excited thinking about our first xmas as a family.

Glask - glad your mum doesn't have swine flu. There have been quite a few people in my parents village diagnosed with it and, although I know it's usually mild, I can't help worrying what would happen if I caught it while I'm pregnant or when I have a newborn (the second wae of cases is meant to hit in October when the kids go back to school).

lastboxoftampons · 14/07/2009 11:24

Hello everyone
I'm off today and had all sorts of painting/DIY planned but the rain is sort of ruining my planst

IDOB - about your NCT class! Is it the condensed/weekend one or are you meant to go every week? Can't see why they wouldn't postpone and/or find another instructor Do you have any contact details for the others who were meant to be on your course? Possible to get together and complain? I wouldn't let it go if I were you.

Glask about your mum and possible swine flu! Glad to hear she's okay. Right now I'm more worried about baby catching it in hospital than anything else! At that point I'd be okay to take any kind of medication but baby probably not so much

Bump - great about Owen's weight, but about your mum! She must be devastated - both at having to have an operation and also at her dogs fighting. Would she be terribly offended if you asked her to put the dogs somewhere else (outside, in another room, etc) when you were visiting with the kids? I'm sure they're perfectly fine normally, but even the sweetest of dogs can be unpredictible and I really don't think it's a good idea to take any chances.

Impressed with all of your Christmas shopping - I would love to get started now, but the problem is we have zero storage! I wouldn't be able to hide gifts for DH at this point.

Ses - would be lovely to have a little singer on your hands! But don't become a stage mum!

idreamofbeanie · 14/07/2009 12:28

Hi LBOT, the course was over 3 weekends but they said she was seriously ill and wouldn't be able to do any of the dates. It is annoying though - surely they can offer some alternatives.

What a shame you can't do DIY and just have to relax instead .

essenceofSES · 14/07/2009 12:50

We were back at GP this morning for O's granuloma. This was the 4th treatment of silver nitrate and she said it had been one of the largest she had seen. It has now shrunk right back so today's was the last treatment

DH's appointment was this morning too. He had blood taken to test for diabetes, cholesterol and thyroid disorders as well as full blood count. He also has to have a 24hr heart monitor at some point and was told he'll probably have to take medication to control his blood pressure. I'm pleased that at least he's doing something about it now.

LBOT - make the most of the rain and don't do too much!
LOL at me being a stage mum!!

Glask - Phew for your mum!

tinkisback · 14/07/2009 13:10

glad o all finished
glad dh is getting treatment

regarding bday and xmas i usually ask family members and friends for money so i can have fun choosing things for dds

just received next autumn/winter cat already[shcok] have made a list of clothes for dd1 will buy mid sept

such a shame about nct i did it when pregnant with dd1.

Moosy · 14/07/2009 14:07

You'd all have been so proud if you'd seen me today, I went to the Monsoon sale and I've bought a pair of pink baby shoes! The lady at the till said "ooh are you having a girl?" I replied "I don't know.... hmm, now I feel a bit silly " I've got a week to return them, but the scan is in 8 days. They are pretty though

Glad the 2 Owens are doing well, Ses both DDs had small granulomas that didn't need treating, DD1's has vanished now but DD2's is still a bit visible but her tummy button is still a little bit outy although it is getting inny-er.

LB, I hope your O carries on getting better, I weaned DD1 early because of her reflux and sometimes I wonder if I should've waited as her guts have never been right, but then it might not be connected, who knows? TBH it didn't actually make that much difference to her sickness either, it just varied the colour of it!

Glask, I have a box of baby clothes that are never to be passed on, my mum has the same too.

Diege · 14/07/2009 14:41

Afternoon! Good news that treatment has worked well SES - was it the same GP as yesterday??
TINKS, have also received new Next directory this morning - nearly broke wrist picking it up . Went straight to baby boy things and there are a few nice bits, but really like the brighter colours of H&M and also mini-boden.
LBOX, how are you feeling today - any more cramps etc?
Well we've sold the house!!!! Now need to look seriously at getter a good offer on the one we love - an old 1850s house with a massive garden but bang in middle of the village, but we would have to get quite a bit knocked off to give us scope to modernise etc. Don't want to get drawn into increased offers, as know from experience that old houses can become a millstone if your budget is squeezed. Have another one we like too in reserve, so trying to keep calm!
Ds on baby gym for first time and is actually awake! Trouble is minute I put himin pram he zonks out - that's the downside of gf - goodish nights, but a prisoner until 4.15 when I'm 'allowed' to go out

idreamofbeanie · 14/07/2009 17:10

Well someone has called from the T and told us we can transfer to a course running on 2 Saturdays in Hull. It's not ideal but at least they have found something for us.

idreamofbeanie · 14/07/2009 17:11

Oops - not sure where the NC part of NCT went.

tinkisback · 14/07/2009 18:30

oh moosy - good shopping

idofb - glad u have found another nct course
diege - next books are so heavy i always shop in there have an account
ye for house

GruffaloSoldier · 14/07/2009 19:09

Hello all,

Tink/Diege I also received Next directory today! Have seen a few bits I like but not sure whether I will be buying anything yet

I went to see GYo and SG today and it was lovely!Have took some pics of SG and GC so will try get them onto FB wagon at some point this evening.

IDOB - that is a shame about the NCT course. Good that they have found an alternative for you. How far is Hull from you? I really enjoyed NCT and meet up weekly with the ladies from our group and monthly for Sunday lunch with the menfolk

Diege - house sounds lush - I love old houses. I really want a house. We are trying to pay off as much of mortgage as poss each month at the mo so that we can be in a house in the next couple of years. The house prices around here are not cheap!

Moosy - dont't worry re pink shoes. I have a lot of girls stuff and I had actually found out it was a girl only to have a boy!So if baby turns out to be a boy just keep it for the next one

ooh mum has just rang - back in bit

Ses - glad Owen

GruffaloSoldier · 14/07/2009 19:36

whoops...

meant to say Ses glad that Owen is all sorted

LB - glad your Owen is all sorted too, sorry to hear about your mum and dogs. I was away at weekend at my sisters and her dogs were shut out of the room when DS was on the floor etc. They are good tempered dogs too!

Glask - hope your mum is better soon. My best friend who is pregnant had swine flu last week, but she is ok now.

Sorry to anyone Ive missed!

GruffaloSoldier · 14/07/2009 19:40

Oh and I now have three pushchairs

Will be selling one of them (mountain buggy which is too big for the car) bought a quinny buzz off ebay. It is in great condition - looks new and got it for £80. DH wants to sell our first pushchair, a bebe confort. But I dont want to as its so light and I have to say I'm too attached as its my PFB. Precious First Buggy

sorky · 14/07/2009 20:23

My NEXT directory arrived today. All the kids are in bed, I have a glass of wine, Dh is at the gym, so I'm all set.

I'm ordering tonight if there's anything I like though 'cos Spring/Summer good stuff shot out of stock by the time I decided to buy, grr!

Yay for pink teeny-tiny shoes Moos

LB sorry to hear about your mum It puts you right between a rock n a hard place doesn't it?
My mother breeds dogs and I'm allergic! She would keep them out of the way I think.. I hope her op goes okay. Was the fight out of their nature? Is she thinking of maybe rehoming one of them to prevent it?

Great news about Ruby's weight Glask She'll be huge before you know it!

Glad the Owen's are all mending nicely ;)

Diege I'm pleased to hear you've sold the house, we'll need the online details of any houses you're thinking about to Wagon-vet them

I'm trying GF again today and so far so good, she's made all the sleeps or thereabouts and all the feeds per schedule. She's in her cot (first time) and will wake her at 10.30pm.
I thought my milk supply might be on the decrease, but that's because she wasn't going longer than 2 hours during the day. This morning, with some grumbling, she managed 3.5 hours and took a huge feed from both sides (unheard of), so hopefully she'll stay in this groove

The directory is calling me.....

GruffaloSoldier · 14/07/2009 20:39

hi there sorky

good about GF! my DS seems to be doing well with it too.

ooh thanks for NEXT ordering tip - maybe i will after all

good idea re diege houses! come on lets see them please!

Diege · 14/07/2009 21:02

ooh I'll try and put some links up of the house(s) but will have to find out how these links work first Bleedin' buyer is now wanting out dishwasher and washing machine too so thinking how to deal with that one..
IDOB, I thought 'the T' was some sort of shorthand for the truly NCT affiliated . I actually thought 'get her with 'the T'', it'll be all Michel Odent and burying the placenta next
SORKY, great going with the gf . Also had a better evening here with J settling 7ish and still asleep..it helped that he was awake for an hour and a half this afternoon, so was actually tired at 7. I even risked going at at 3.35 rather than 4.15 and seem to have got away with it...
Hello to everyone else - off to watch that drama about the recession, so night all and speak tomorrow xxx

bumpsnowjustplump · 14/07/2009 21:09

Hello all. Thanks for all the nice messages. My mum is still in hospital. They have opperated on her wrist but have not stitched it up yet so she has an open wound. Once they confirm that everything inside is all ok they will stitch it up and she will be aloud home (hopefully Friday

I am getting more scared by the day about swine flu. It is rife around here and I am so worried for dd and ds...

i still have no routine for ds, he doesn't sleep during the day hardly at all and feeds at totaly different times. Speaking of feeding my supply has dwindled a lot I no longer feel full if he does't feed for a long time. I also dont feel any let down!! He tends to feed for only a few mins at a time then comes off.... I am worried he isn't getting enough food but at the same time he isn't crying for food and is very alert and awake all day so think he must be... What do you all think?

Kayzr · 15/07/2009 06:24

Morning,

Bump, I'm not really sure but like you I would think that if he wasn't crying for food and was alert and happy, then he isn't hungry.

It is our 3 year wedding anniversary today. DH wasn't allowed to have the day off work so is at work at 2

Hope everyone is well.

NatalieJane · 15/07/2009 06:59

Morning

Am bloody shattered, DS2 and 3 both full of colds, coughs, runny noses, high temps (DS2 has me running in circles every time his temp. rises, he fit's if it get's too bad, and am watching Mikey like a hawk in case he does it as well) DS1 is still full of hayfever, wouldn't mind but it's been raining most of the week so far so how he is still reacting to it so badly I don't know, always thought the rain dampened the pollen down so it sticks to the floor, instead of flying around?

Also really pleased that both Owen's are doing so well LB, you'd know if he wasn't getting enough food, and your milk supply is probably just responding to his feeding pattern, it's that supply and demand thing, now O is in his routine (might not be the routine that you like, but he is in one at least!) the milk will be produced according to that routine. And FWIW, DS2 only ever fed for 5 or 10 minutes at a time, he wasn't a bad sleeper, he was the size of a baby giant (Mikey is pretty huge, but DS2 was in a different league!), and he didn't need/want weaning till just over 6 months, so even 5 minute feeds can be more than enough. Think he was described as a "very efficient feeder" by my BFC!

Glask sound's like Ruby is doing really well - well done you!

Diege, that is great about the house I wouldn't be too sure about leaving the appliances, I suppose if the whole deal depended on it, I'd have to, but seriously, I'd never dream of insisting the seller left anything like that! I mean fair enough you'd like to think they'd leave the light bulbs and the windows and doors, (), but appliances, that's like asking someone to leave their bed, or the sofas, or a child (hey, that's an idea!! ) Did you get them when you did the kitchen? Do they match in with the style of it or something? Are you're appliances very very very special? Are they made of solid gold with diamonds for knobs?! ...Or chocolate?

What is it about the Next Directory? You can see the same thing on-line and in the store and think "no, there's nicer things somewhere else" but you see that exact same thing in the book and you have to get it, that day, in 3 sizes because it's free returns and 15 colours just in case Can you tell why I closed my account a few years back? Hate to think how much I'd owe them by now if I hadn't have made myself close it! Think I've mentioned before am pretty shit when it comes to money, cash in my purse can stay there for days at a time, whereas give me a bit of plastic and I'll only come home from town when I can't carry any more....

Sorky, sorry I also missed your birthday, glad you had a good day ...And a good holiday We had the holiday talk again last night, both of us are desparate to get away for a couple of weeks, we've so nearly talked ourselves into it a few times now but then the sensible head get's in the way, we've two in nappies, one on formula, how we'd manage the airport with four suitcases (which we'd need for all the nappies and formula!), a couple of flight bags, 3 kids, and the buggy, I've no idea, and then we've got the driving/moving house/moving schools thing, which next month is going to very much take over our household (unless swine 'flu get's us first ) it wouldn't be a holiday, it'd be a nightmare!

Right I am away before I ramble any more, and to dream of distant shores where there's sun and wine, and kids clubs

NatalieJane · 15/07/2009 07:05

Morning Kay

Happy anniversary, shame about DH having to work it though.

NatalieJane · 15/07/2009 09:00

Just seen Argos have got 15% off all nursery and baby things if anyone is interested? It's on their homepage, you have to enter a code at checkout, code is also on the homepage in one of the flashy ad's

Kayzr · 15/07/2009 09:09

DS2 has a tooth!!! He's just bitten me and there is a tooth. He hasn't been crying or doing any of the stuff DS1 did.
