Evening . STAR, just seen your thread and while I have no advice to offer as such it must so hard and tiring feeding like that through the night. Some useful advice there though - fwiw the hush pat thing worked for me too, if you start it the minute they start crying.
STT, agree with MOOS, are you sure your mw didn;t just walk in off the street??!!! Duff advice there def re: anaemia I'd say for sure - nothing to do with bleeds etc Also agree MOOS that 9.8 needs treatment!

LB, can;t really put it better than others have done, only to add that I am in full admiration of how you have coped up to now, and really take my hat off to you. Also, be assured that aptimil is pretty good stuff and that you have given ds the best start xx

GYO, glad you got your meds; I think all gps say the same re: meds in pregnancy and bf, just because there have been no clinical trials. Was the same with my strong pile cream Hoping you get some relief - sounds horrendous!

Well J doing well - has put on 12 oz this week so is now 10ib 13oz, back on 91st percentile. She has also confirmed that he has reflux , but after observing him (and looking at weight gain)doesn;t think he's bothered by it, at least not in terms of acid reflux at the moment. He does bring up at least an ounce or two after each bottle feed, enough to have to change him, and it''s often over an hour after the feed and not at all curdled (the key to diagnosing it she says). Not too concerned as she says 50% of babies have it - just been lucky with the other 3, and certainly no-where near LB's experience...just more of an inconvenienece regarding his clothes and bedding etc..
Right, must do kitchen before torchwood. Anyone else watching this week's episodes?

bumpsnowjustplump · 08/07/2009 22:13

Well DS refused the bottle and after an hour of trying I eventually offered the breast which he took. I really hope today is a blip and he will feed as normal tomorrow because I dont think my supply will cope with just feeding in the evening and night time.

He has just gone down and fed for over an hour so hope we get a couple of hours rest at least...

Do you think it could be teeting? Jessica never really suffered with her teeth so I have no negative experiance of teething!!

Star I will go over to your thread now...

GruffaloSoldier · 08/07/2009 23:51

Hi all

Really busy with my mum here but have tried to lurk when possible!

Bumps - with GC I use Dr Browns and Avent - however I am just switching over to Avent copletely now as I find Dr Browns too faffy like moosy said and also they leak loads. However I do think they work well, but think that Avent are really good too.

Re Easy Digest milk from Aptimil I had to switch back to normal aptimil as ED gave GC terrible wind in an already colicky baby! They also say that expect for babies wind to increase at first - doh! ED is actually meant for reflux babies as the formula is much thicker so supposed to be harder to bring up.I am on the aptimil forums. there is a helpline you can ring for advice.let me know if you want it.

GC is back to normal aptimil milk and does seem to have 'silent reflux' now and again, tonight he was really choking on it!Its horrible.I am happy with the milk though. All my nieces and nephews used it too.

Bumps - you have to do what you have to do to feed your child at the end of the day. You are doing a fab job and there is no way you could ever break that bond between you and DS. I gave up BF at 10 weeks and was heartbroken but I had to do what was best for him and he was hungry and I couldnt feed him myself. I was so stressed out as it wasn't working. It was a very difficult decision but I don't regret it.

Gyo - is it Nystan Nystatin that SG is on? If so beware!GC has had two courses of this and we are going back to the docs tomorrow as he still has thrush! The poor thing is still struggling with feeding its awful!

Right I have rambled on enough! I will try get back on tomorrow

Do what you feel happy with (he took it tonight so you are doing fabulously!!!!!)

GruffaloSoldier · 08/07/2009 23:58

also meant to say re reigate meet up it is going to be difficult for me as DH may need the car as its his summer hols and we take out a girl we look after with autism in the holidays so he may need the car. (it is usually everyday) What time is it likely to be? If we say what date everyone else can do and then I will try and organise it so I can have the car! Sorry its so complicated !

SesHasFinallyBecomeAMum · 09/07/2009 05:21

Re: Reigate meet up, I can do 27th, 28th July or 3rd August. Bumps - which is best for you? Gruff - is one of those going to be easier to try and arrange?

Bumps - everyone else has said it really. I hope too that yesterday was a blip for you. If he ends up taking FF though, please don't feel bad. You have done amazingly well and I'm sure you won't lose that bond as you've got an established bond with him. I think it would be a bigger change for you than for him tbh.

GYo - if SG is on Nystatin then just remember that once she's swallowed it, it won't be effective. Keep it in her mouth as long as possible and wipe it around the inside of her mouth with a clean finger.

Gruff - don't know if that helps you at all too. Hope your mum staying is helpful and going well.

Diege - J is doing really well!! Hope the reflux doesn't become a big problem.

LBOT - hope you and DH had a better evening. We found that we argued loads more in the last few weeks before the birth.

Star - how utterly exhausting for you. Hope the other thread has helped.

STT - another one here that thinks youvshould persist with your iron levels

Kayzr · 09/07/2009 06:04

Morning,

DS2 woke at half 5 so I had to get up with him. Tried to make DH get up but I am wide awake now.

Ses, I've got a question to ask you. I've got some iron tablets that I was given about a week before DS2 was born. MW said to stop taking them as Anaemia would sort itself out now he was here. Do you think they are still ok to take? I can't find a date on them. Just thought if they make me feel better then I can just keep taking them.

Bumpy, Please don't think you have failed him!! Perhaps he was just having an off day. I hope he didn't keep you up all night. Everyone is right, you won't lose your bond with him. I have a great bond with both of my boys and they were/are both FF.

My teeth are killing me. I don't know what is wrong but can't be seen until 2 weeks time!!

Hope you are all well.

Kayzr · 09/07/2009 06:06

Ooops meant to give you a link to Mums Piggy business!! Here if you ever want a whole pig for a spit roast!!

Starshinetiger · 09/07/2009 07:52

Sooo sorry Bumpy - DD did not settle til 10.30pm last night, so didn't manage to get back on. Also, my first post (which never materialised) said what everyone else has said - you are doing an amazing job with DS, you will never lose that bond and you will be able to still comfort him. You've done far better than I did with DS - he was on top-ups from 11 weeks and then went full ff by 5 months. I also worried that I wouldn't be able to comfort him without offering the boob, but he was so much happier/more comfortable, he was fine. Does your DS take a dummy or suck his thumb? DS had found his thumb by that stage, so he was able to comfort himself.

I hope you didn't think by me posting my thread last night that I was pushing bfing. In my lost post I had said I really think that whatever makes you happy will make DS happy, but if you wanted some support from the other angle - thought you might find it helpful to see the links people had put on my thread about sleep regression in 4-6 month olds and the info about bfing.

Going to get a urine sample from DD today (getting practised at these!) and take it up to HV - she is going to test it, so if it is a uti she can be treated, if not, guess I need to get tough on the whole sleep business with DD!

Right, she has done her early morning business (another thing that suggests to me that she's not 100% - she normally poos every day, but last week has been going 48 hours or more without and then having really runny ones - sorry if TMI and you're eating breakfast!!)

"See" you all later.

bumpsnowjustplump · 09/07/2009 08:17

Star I didn't for one min think you were pushing bf please dont worry...

well i settled ds at 10:30 he then woke up at 2, 3:15, 4:30 and 6 for feeds.... He fed everytime!! I have just tried to feed him now and he wont take any.... I give up!!!!!!!!!

I am so fed up and tired I am seriously thinking about giving him to the gypsys....

Starshinetiger · 09/07/2009 08:18

Oh and Bumpy - formula we had was Nutramigen (hypoallergenic formula), but it's about £12/tin over the counter - we had it on prescription.

Starshinetiger · 09/07/2009 08:21

Just cross-posted. Empathise totally with you LB. DD finally settled at 10.30pm, then was up at 12.50, fed for 15 mins - realised that I was just so shattered I didn't even have energy to wind her properly when she woke up 10 mins after I put her down, with wind, so gave up and got into bed in her room and then was on and off all night . Am so exhausted and didn't get any time to express yesterday, so in danger of not having enough milk to leave on Sat.
On plus side, am getting my hair cut this morning for first time since before she was born, so might feel more human then (although will probably fall asleep at basin)!!

Diege · 09/07/2009 09:23

STAR, LB (and Kayz!!) those nights sound horrendous . Really hope you can getb through the day ok - remember that horrible dragging tiredness all too well xx
Not a great one here last night either; J unsettled, grunting all night with constipation, and waking 11, 1.30, 3.00 and 6. A bad one for him, but should stay asleep for his morning nap so I can get dressed etc. Doing the school pick up for the first time since his birth today!!
Hope everyone is ok - it really helps to be able to off load/empathise with everyone about feeding etc on the wagon, as the early days can be so isolating when you think it's just your baby that is not being 'good' (hate that 'is he good'? thing )

Kayzr · 09/07/2009 09:31

Right I am offically mad!! But I'm going to book a holiday for next July so I have to be able to drive!!

SesHasFinallyBecomeAMum · 09/07/2009 09:34

Morning Diege! I totally agree about that "Is he a good baby?" question. He's not old enough to be naughty is he?! He's just a gorgeous little newborn!!

Owen is 2 months old today - how scary is that!! Maybe not such a newborn!!

SesHasFinallyBecomeAMum · 09/07/2009 09:34

LOL Kay!! Nothing like piling the pressure on yourself eh?!

bumpsnowjustplump · 09/07/2009 10:14

thanks for all your messages. he isn't feeding agian today..... he fed every hour last night but just wont feed now.... i am getting so stressed. he wont take a bottle either......

people are telling me to not let him feed in the night but he is only 4 months surely i can not starve him.... (well i wont do it anyway)....

I am going to go to gp tomorrow i think for some advise and may ask for prescription for a dairy free formula...... i have just tried to express and got nothing out. is it possiable to only produce milk at night? if that was the case though wouldn't he be hungry and screaming for food rathing than refusing to feed iyswim!!!

NatalieJane · 09/07/2009 10:29

Good morning

Really sorry for all the crappy nights sleep. We did OK here, except me waking up, seeing a huge spider coming crawling up the bed towards me, jumped out of bed screaming at DH that there was a huge spider in our bed, he jumps up, throwing the covers everywhere to find said spider, by this point I am starting to realise that actually I dreamt the spider thing and so got back into bed, and told him off for making a mess of the quilt... DH wasn't impressed

LB, am really trying to draw on the info I was given while BF'ing DS2. As you're finding, what they don't eat during the day, they make up for at night, BFC always really went OTT on offering the breast at least every 3 hours even if they don't seem interested.

Ses, can't believe Owen is 2 months already, time is whizzing by.

STT sorry you are feeling so crap, deffo push for those bloods.

Star, I haven't read your thread yet, will do as soon as I can.

Kayz, you'll be on the road well before next July Where have you booked for?

Diege, sound's like J is doing really well

Have I missed anything else? Sorry, am still zombified from yesterday's early start, it always effect's me the next day, no matter how much sleep I had.

Phone lines have been down since that lightning strike on Tuesday, although t'internet is still working, and not everyone's have gone down, only 3 or 4 of us int he street AFAWK so far. DH tried ringing BT from mobile at 50p a min, was on hold for half an hour so gave up, DS1's school is down, he was supposed to have board games yesterday after school, they cancelled it at last minute, couldn't get hold of me (though they have both DH's and my mob numbers and they didn't try them ) so in I walked at 4 o'clock to pick him up and he'd been sat there for an hour with the HT Wouldn't mind, but we only live across the road, someone could have walked him over the road. The school receptionist has been here twice this morning, first time to see if our lines were working yet, second time to say she's managed to get onto BT and they've told her there is a line down and it will be either today or tomorrow it's fixed, so that probably translates to next week if we're lucky knowing BT.

Neighbour spoke to me this morning, seemed absolutely fine, so whether she's had a few days out and realised what she was doing and has calmed down or not, I don't know. I suppose time will tell.

And, had some news yesterday, not really sure what to make of it. My dad, who I haven't seen since I was 14, and that was the first time since I was 8, had his leg amputated on Saturday. I knew he was probably going to have to have it done for a while, and I have to say, it didn't upset me, or play on my mind or anything, I don't know him, but knowing he has actually had it done, I don't know, it just keeps popping into my head. Am thinking that was what was behind the spider dream, only ever remember dreams when I've got something going round my head.

Anyway, I have a load of washing to put away, a load to put in the dryer, another load to go in the washer, got to clear up and hoover, have done the bedrooms, bathroom and most of the kitchen, could also do with some food at some point, belly rumbling.

Sparklytwinkletoes · 09/07/2009 10:44

Kayzr · 09/07/2009 12:04

Not booked anywhere yet. Still not sure on where to go. Probably somewhere near the peak district.

Going to go and see Glask soon which I'm really looking forward to. Her Internet has been down since a big storm cut it off last week and broke something on their pc.

Sparklytwinkletoes · 09/07/2009 14:58

Hi all, am back from my MW appt. Baby is lying with its back to my front RH side, which I kind of think I knew, just from where I've been feeling movements.

Blood pressure OK, measuring 27.5 at 27+2 so that's about spot on really. She's given me my MATB1 form and HiP Grant form and taken bloods.

I asked if she thought it was possible that I was anaemic and she said 'anything is possible, but your iron levels were so good at the beginning of pregnancy that I'd be surprised'. She said best to wait till the results come back. So I'll just have to take it easy till then.

DS is very clingy again this afternoon, which is fine by me, I far prefer cuddles on the sofa to charging around like a loony!

Sparklytwinkletoes · 09/07/2009 15:00

Kayz, can I be slightly cheeky? How about instead of booking the holiday to put the pressure on to pass your test, why don't you just promise yourself that you'll book a holiday as soon as you have passed.

Its just that you do seem to have a lot on in general, and I worry that you might put to much pressure on yourself and end up being stressed...which isn't a good environment to be taking a driving test or holiday in.
