DS is now screaming as, god forbid, I put him down for 5 mins.. So will be back soon!!!

NatalieJane · 07/07/2009 13:10

TBH with the neighbour situation, am just going to play it by ear. If she speaks (nicely) then I will, but anymore snide comments or if she doesn't speak then that'll be it, I'm not spending the last few months we have here walking on egg shells.

Bumpy, I really don't know how you are managing. Wish I could do something to give you even just a few hours break. It is always scary when they react to the injections.

Ses, glad Owen coped OK with the treatment, bless him gurgling at the lights

Kayz, glad the washer is sorted, and don't worry about the hazard perception stuff, most of it is really obvious (kids right next to road kicking ball, lorry about to turn out of a tight corner etc.) even with no driving experience it is just mostly common sense. A lot of the theory test questions are just common sense, remember one of the questions was:

You are approaching a Zebra crossing, you can see pedestrians waiting to use the crossing. Do you:
A) speed up to get past the crossing before they start to cross.
B) stop at the crossing, rev your engine and sound your horn to let them know you are waiting for them to cross.
C) Put your hazard lights on to warn the drivers behind you that you are about to stop.
D) Slow down and stop, giving plenty of time for them to cross.

I went for B

IDOB, glad your boating w'end went well, sound's very relaxing

House is a deffo no go, it is advertised as being on a 'private road' which it seems is actually a bridleway, but it's used as a rat run, is also known for fly tipping and where they dump stolen vehicles, and on top of all of that, it floods!

So that's why it's so cheap hey?!

Still.... That Kitchen!!

NatalieJane · 07/07/2009 16:10

Sound's like a good afternoon Tink

Well, we've just been struck by lightning, well near as damn it. It's getting a bit scary out there now, we had a strike put down last week that's knocked our surround sound out. And now this one tonight, sounded a lot closer, could even hear 'bits' falling after the initial bang, car and house alarms going off all over the shop, all 3 of mine crying their hearts out. I like storms, but not really very much when they get like this! It was really loud, sounded like a gun shot out the front. Oh the drama

Am waiting for DH to get home now, only a couple more hours, and then I've got to bloody drive in it. We should have a

GYo · 07/07/2009 18:15

Sorry IDOB, that was my fault- think I didnt copy the latest syndicate

Where abouts is your boat? sounds like fun

Nat- we have similar rain/ thunder here the small giraffe is a bit small to be too scared but then we havent had claps of thunder overhead!! Hope your boys are ok...

Sorry to hear about your neighbour.. no real advice im afraid, im crap at dealing with that kind of thing!

ooh lightening!!! >

Tink clarks shoes do sound good as does price in sale! Im shocked how much kids shoes cost!

I've just branched out in my baking and tried to make american style (sorry LBOT- sounds awful!!) chocolate muffins (rather than my usual brownies)... They are ok but not quite right, not really chocolaty enough... Anyone want to try one?

Am waiting to speak to a BF counsellor about my thrush, as I am not sure thats what it is... still really aching and Im worried it might be early mastitis now...

Has anyone had any of these? Does it mean I ghave to give DD formula for a while if it gets really bad?

SesHasFinallyBecomeAMum · 07/07/2009 21:02

Hi!

Heavy rain, thunder and lightening here too. Victoria station in London is closed due to flooding!

GYo - sorry no expert in mastitis. BF counsellor is a good idea though. I've only ever heard good things and it took one to spot Owen's tongue tie.

I'm feeling really drained, tired and tearful this evening. No really good reason, just a few things building up. I'm going to offload about it though...
(You do have permission to laugh if you manage to wade through it all!)

Started off well as the surveyor came round at 12.30 and so DS and I headed off into town. Got the essentials in Boots and then went to look round M&S and Burton for a birthday present for DH. Within a couple of minutes of being in M&S, I heard DS's bottom. He has a habit of exploding poo at the moment so decided to head off to Costa as I knew they had changing facilities and I needed some lunch. Before I got chance to leave M&S, I could see he needed changing. Leakage coming through the leg of one of his shorts . I grabbed some baby wipes from the change bag to cover and stem the leak and headed outside the shopping centre to Costa.
It was then that I noticed it was chucking it down with rain. I had a choice of going outside and nipping round the corner in the rain to Costa or going upstairs to the other end of the shopping centre in the hope there were decent changing facilities in the centre toilets. I went for legging it round the corner so put the sun parasol up on the buggy to shield DS, ran past everyone who was sheltering from the rain and burst into Costa. There were 3 girls waiting at the counter to serve with no queue so I explained I was just going to use the facilities and promised to come back and order.
The toilet was engaged so I waited patiently outside although DS was using his lungs to show how uncomfortable he was by this point. We waited and we waited. I tried the handle twice, no joy. After nearly 15 minutes, I decided to go back down the front and ask the girls to check if all was ok with whoever was in there. I passed 2 elderly ladies on the way who stopped to fuss over DS and sympathise with his tears. In the meantime an elderly man appeared from the toilet so I went in and stripped DS and changed him. Fortunately I had a change of clothes for him - he needed it!
Once changed, he still was not at all happy. I tried to calm him down in the toilet but decided the best thing to do would be to sit and feed him and ask one of the girls serving to get me a hot chocolate. I left the toilet and saw the two elderly ladies again. DS was still screaming so I tried to get away from them politely by saying I needed to feed him and was going to ask one of the girls to get me a drink.
One of the ladies then showed such kindness and generosity. She told me not to worry and to sit down so I could feed him and she went and got me a hot chocolate. Bless her, it was so thoughtful and then she refused to take any money from me.
He fed and started to settle after about 20 mins so I put him back in his buggy and headed back to M&S. He wasn't happy though and started crying again. I'm convinced he had got a load of wind from all the crying he did whilst we were waiting to change him. So we headed home.
He then cried (except for the 2 lots of feeds) until about 8pm. DH came home and I was trying not to cry. I'd never got my sandwich in Costa and I think my blood sugar levels were too low too.
All seems so pathetic now. Sorry, just wanted to get the rollercoaster afternoon off my chest.

Even whilst typing that, DS has done another huge exploding poo!!! Another change of clothes needed!!

Just feeding him again and going to watch Torchwood.

bumpsnowjustplump · 07/07/2009 21:21

GYO I had mastitis quite bad recently. Had to have AB to get rid of it in the end. It hurts like hell, but you just feed from it as much as possiable. I had flu like symptoms and when I fed it felt like glass coming out. no need to give formula but try to offer the boob as much as possiable so you clear all the tubes......

I also changed poss for a while and adopted the football hold. Look at the boob is there any redness on it?

If it just aches then doesn't sound like mastitis as it is bloody painful even touching the boob killed me....

Ses ds is also an exploder in the poo department. He only goes once every 5 days but when he goes boy does he go!!!!

GYo · 07/07/2009 22:02

hello

Ses- sorry. For your bad afternoon not suprised you wanted to cry too. Hope you and DS are ok now. I personally find shopping alone with DD stressful without the poo and crying additions. Not to mention todays rain. Did you manage to get DH a present? Faxing you a choc muffin. Decided they are good after all now they are cold.

Hi Bumps, think you are right, there isn't any redness. I also phoned the bf lady who said to get some oral fluconazole (?) as if it is deep thrush cream won't touch it. Going to get emergency appt tomorrow as its v painful now.

Hi everyone else !

SesHasFinallyBecomeAMum · 07/07/2009 22:17

Thanks GYo and Bumpy.

He did a couple of good burps (finally!) about 20 mins ago so we're both feeling a bit better now.

GYo - don't know how you find time to make muffins or brownies. I'm not complaining and will gladly have one!

Didn't get DH a present. I have already got him some aftershave and a book from Owen called "Why I love my Daddy". We're going to try and go for a meal at our nearby pub on Thursday evening too - the 3 of us for the first time!

Hope we all have good nights.

Kayzr · 08/07/2009 06:10

Morning,

DS1 has just woke us up by being sick. We think he drank his bottle that had been there all night. DH forgot to take it out of his room last night. We're hoping it was the milk and not a bug.

Ses, that does sound like a stressful day. Hope today is better for you.

Gyo, hope you feel better soon. A lot of the December girls have had mastitis and they say it feels like they have the flu and the boob is very hot.

Hope everyone is well, using my new iPod touch. It's surprisingly easy to use.

NatalieJane · 08/07/2009 07:03

Morning

Ses, hope you've managed to wind down from yesterday's ordeal? Have been in similar situations myself with DS1 when he was a baby, always knocked my confidence for six. What a lovely kind thing for that lady to do for you though (No one bought me hot chocolates! )

GYo, hope you are feeling a bit better this morning, and if not that the doc get's you sorted ASAP.

Kayz, hope DS1 is feeling better soon.

Have been awake since 4.15, Mikey woke up about 3.30, which was very odd for him, got him settled back down but think because it was already light he had other ideas, so I gave up at 4.15 and bought him down, gave him a bottle, and of course he went straight back to sleep! He is waking earlier and earlier. Am wondering if it's now time to start weaning? But, he's still not able to sit up properly (he kind of does but it's more the size of his belly that keeps him up rather than the strength of himself!) and have passed him the odd piece of toast and a few pieces of veggies/fruits, but he just looks at them, hasn't once tried to put it in his mouth.

Driving went well I think. Instructor said he thinks I'll be test ready well in time for October, somewhere between 10 and 20 hours he reckons, which since you do two hours at a time, it's hopefully going to be a bit quicker than I expected It's strange because before the lesson I was trying to remember everything I'd learnt 3 or 4 years ago, could barely remember a thing, but after 2 minutes in the car we were out on a main road doing 50mph! Did the reversing round the corner and the bay park (which I wasn't shown once last time!) Gear changes were a bit chuggy, but were improving as the lesson went on. And yes, I managed to be the PITA learner driver, in front of a queue of cars at the lights, stalled it Luckily the lights were on red anyway so I didn't hold up all the traffic! Ah well, was better than when I was learning before, I stalled it on one of the worst juctions in Blackburn, in a yellow box no less! And I did have an excuse, thought I'd be sensible and wear my trainers, except the clutch had ridges on it, and my trainer soles had ridges on them and they kept locking together, that's why it stalled, nothing to do with me at all, ohhhhhh nooooooooooo

Right, it's finally come round to 7 o'clock, been waiting for it being time to get going for bloody hours, now it's here, and I don't want to get going now!

See you all later no doubt xx

Kayzr · 08/07/2009 07:42

Argh!! Just failed another 2 theory tests! I hope there isn't a limit to how many you can do!!

I do have a book and some cds somewhere so must hunt them out!!

GYo · 08/07/2009 07:49

morning

Nat. Glad the driving went well. Sounds like you will be wizzing about in no time!

Must be night for weird wakenings. Dd woke twice at 12,30 and 4.30 rather than her usual once at 4. Tried to get her back to sleep at 4.30 without food but think she was hungry. Either that or she knew I have it on tap! Was feeling rathered annoyed by DH sleepng next to us with duvet over his head. He could at least offer to help soothe her in the night. I'd probably say no but the offer would be appreciated!!

Kay, hope DS is ok now.

Got to go and play phone roulette trying to get through to the doctors surgery for an appt!

SesHasFinallyBecomeAMum · 08/07/2009 08:24

Morning!

Feeling a bit drained still from yesterday but onwards & upwards! DS has already had half an hour in his bouncy chair this morning so thete's a load of washing in the machine and I'm up, dressed and breakfasted

Nat - driving lesson sounds like it weny v well!

Kay & GYo - sorry for disturbed nights.

SesHasFinallyBecomeAMum · 08/07/2009 08:27

Have added some photos of our NCT bbq to my FB

Kayzr · 08/07/2009 08:38

Ses, those pics are great. I love the ones of the babies all lying down with all the parents with them! So cute!!

Diege · 08/07/2009 09:21

Morning! Poor you SES - I think everyone with children has had lots of days like that, not that it's much consolation at the time! Sounds like you coped really well actually. I think it can be tempting to scale things down with babies, but my philosophy has always been just do it and if things get mega stressful just abandon ship. Knowing I can just come home always makes potentially stressful trips doable, although still quite stressy! Will have a look at you fb piccies now x
Sorry for odd nights everyone - just when you think you know what's what. J also had an odd one last night, waking 1ish crying, but I knew he wasn;t hungry after feeding at 11 and he settled after a few mins. Then awake at 4ish, so fed, then awake at 6 . Not so bad as night's go I suppose!
Great about the driving NAT! How are you finding reverse round corner etc?? That (and parallel parking) was my nemesis, and probably stopped me booking in for test. Sounds like you are a natural!
Hospital appointment was good yesterday. Felt really odd being back there, but J behaved himself on the bus and during the appointment. Physio says my mw was a bit OTT as the separation is only 2 fingers width, and hardly the scaremongering mw made out it to be Have exercises and a very fetching tubigrip to wear...also ordered a book off amazon that details the Tupler method, that I've heard is good. Am determined to get my flat tummy back!
GYO, that does sound painful Hope you can get an appointment x
HV here at 11, then out for lunch with frined and her 4 week old baby. MIL wants to come round this afternoon to see J, but will have to limit her to an hour or so (sounds awful I know!) as will be wiped out by that time...hope she can take the hint!
Hi to everyone else

Diege · 08/07/2009 09:33

Oh SES those piccies are great . LOve the way that the babies look so calm with the (very glam) mums, and seem to be screaming their heads off when pictured with the dads . Felt a stirring of broodiness looking at the babies , which is nuts as I have one just the same asleep upstairs

Kayzr · 08/07/2009 09:34

Don't say that Diege!! Still terribly broody here. I keep trying to avoid looking at any pictures of babies at all!!

Diege · 08/07/2009 09:40

At least you know that this time next year you will either be ttc or pregnant! It's the end of the road for me!

NatalieJane · 08/07/2009 10:18

Kayz, don't worry about the theory test, one read through the book, and a few more practises you'll have it. I did get really worked up about it first time round, have no idea why, passed no problems, was 100 times easier and simpler than I thought it would be! It's barely crossed my mind this time! Have you done any driving at all ever? They say with the theroy test/hazard perception, that although obviously you have to pass it before the practical, it is better to take the theory after you've had some experience of driving. And if you have your car sorted now, it might just be the carrot and the stick thing, I know after my lesson last night, I am raring to have a go in our car! We'll be learner driver buddies! and a slight ! C'mon Diege, we'll get you going as well

Ses, take it easy today, time for a relax methinks!

Diege, well, at least it's better news re. your belly! Think mine are about a mile apart, have been since after DS1 so can't see it ever going back now!

And you two, no more talking of broodiness please (have had baby programs on telly since before 6 this morning ) Am not broody for another one, but am definatly feeling the 'never again having a tiny baby' thing rear it's head every now and again, especially because Mikey seems to be growing up so quickly. And, I think even more so than the baby thing, I am really sad that I'll never give birth again The pregnancy on the other hand, is a whole different story! 'Bout time DH got his bloody referal through!

Kayzr · 08/07/2009 10:23

Yes I've had about 7 lessons. Hoping to go out with Mum this weekend.

Kayzr · 08/07/2009 10:51

My friend(and supervisor) just text me. I need to go and see my manager about going back to worksad I really don't want to go back at all. I am really upset about it.
