What a strange morning. I have just booked a nursery place for beanie which feels really weird when she isn't even born yet. Several of the nurseries we saw have a 1-2 year waiting list so even though we visited when I was only 12 weeks pregnant they can't guarantee a place. Its mad! This place isn't in the nicest location (on the industrial estate behind our house) but I really liked the nursery and the staff and there is a big park and playpark less than 2 mins walk away that they visit most days.

Jules - glad you enjoyed sports day, did Atlanta have fun?

Ses - which sling do you have? It sounds as though DS is very comfy in it.

SesHasFinallyBecomeAMum · 29/06/2009 15:46

IDOB - It's the Babasling. I got it from Boots. Costs about £35. He sleeps v well in it for an hour or two at a time but often wakes up unhappy as he's not sure where he is. I'd recommend it though. Bumpy has one too. V exciting to be looking at nursery places!

Jules - sports day sounds great!

Diege · 29/06/2009 16:08

Hello! Thanks for all the bedding advice - pretty much what I'm doing, though J has been dosing on and off all day in his chair and not wanting to know the gf routine at all. Think it must be the heat! He's also growing out of his 1-2 month stuff, and getting red marks on his legs where the suits are digging in etc...think I'm due another shopping trip
LBOX, it's hard when dh's change track about plans. I'm sure as others say that there will be times in the week when baby is up/around for dh to spend time with, but it is tough when the fantasy doesn't fit the reality. I must send you that hypno-birthing cd of Sorky's too . If you could e-mail me on [email protected] with your details I'll get it sent out this week
IDOB, pram sounds great, and as you say wear and tear shows on new prams after a few weeks - certainly has done on mine. Sort of wish I'd got a bee now as dd3 doesn't use buggy board anyway .
Well supervisor been and gone, though popping back to get her badge that she dropped outside the house. She seemed really nice (though a bit like the mw in psychoville if anyone watches it )and also looked through my past labour notes with dds. She's convinced (as are her colelagues who she asked) that the problems this time were caused by a true case of celphalic-pelvic disproportion, as judging by my others labours my second stages had been very quick, but that she thought I'd been quite lucky to get the dds through my pelvis . In other words, I was ok with my 7/8 pounders, but that 9.5 pounds was too big for pelvis, and while J's head was engaging and descending, it couldn't rotate due to lack of space and hence head was 'side on' when I was pushing. It's a relief really, as it means that I nothing would have shifted it (active birth etc) and that any attempt at ventouse etc would have been out of the question as head was too high. So am feeling better about it all as had been getting upset about it being something about the way I'd laboured etc that had caused the problem. She says next time they'll give me a trial of labour first, but would have in a mind a section . I just laughed and gave her a look - 'next time' my arse
Gone dull here but still so hot!! Hope the pregnant wagoners aren't suffering too badly!

SesHasFinallyBecomeAMum · 29/06/2009 16:14

Diege - sounds like your meeting went well. Must have been hard but what she said seems to make sense.

Is everyone getting ready to cheer on Murray?!

idreamofbeanie · 29/06/2009 16:15

Cheers Ses - I think thats the one my SIL gave me so hopefully it'll be good for the LO.

Diege - I'm glad you feel better after your meeting. LOL at 'next time' - can just imagine the look she got .

Cosmogirl · 29/06/2009 16:30

Hi Ses - am indeed lurking tho am not getting a spare second to catch up or post these days ...

Meet up would be great but not sure on logistics of getting there from Kings X. If it would be fairly straightforward would definitely be up for it. Can you take prams on the tube? Completely clueless about this stuff!

Diege · 29/06/2009 16:48

HI COSMO! How are things? Are you feeling ok?
SES, yes waiting for Murray match - they're just putting the roof on as I type!

Cosmogirl · 29/06/2009 16:51

Hi Diege, am watching too Am doing good - DD is 12 weeks now and sleeping very little during day so it is pretty full on! DH also been away a few evenings working so been holding the fault and gaining massive appreciation for single parents! I guess when she is able to entertain herself a bit I might get a bit more time to get other things done....[wishful thinking!] Hope you are ok and resting lots.

Cosmogirl · 29/06/2009 17:09

Holding the fault?.....I meant 'fort'! Sure Dr Freud would have something to say about that!

lastboxoftampons · 29/06/2009 17:11

Hi Diege! glad things went well with the mw supervisor and that you feel better about things. That's what's important! And Oooh, yes, I need to email you my address! Will do right now! Thanks about DH - it really was a strange night...he was even talking about getting a tattoo to commemorate Nugget's arrival Not that I have anything against tattoos, I actually have one - but I never would've imagined him wanting one! Maybe he's having a midlife crisis!?!?

IDOB - well done on booking for nursery. If you're comfortable with the place, then that's all that matters. And the proximity will mean that you can pop in if you're home.

I probably won't make this one, but I'd love to meet up with the Southern girls! Cosmo I can probably help to get you from Kings X! But I've still got three more weeks of work left, then a week before my parents arrive and they're staying for 2+ weeks, so I'm pretty booked up until mid-late August.

Cosmogirl · 29/06/2009 17:22

Thanks LBOT Wow you are so close to meeting your little one now! You must be so excited....Would be great to meet some of you wagoners for real and put faces to nicknames!

GruffaloSoldier · 29/06/2009 22:18

Hi all

Tis far too hot for me! Gruff cub is sleeping in nappy and no covers! The last week or two has been in just a vest and no covers. Our room is 28 degrees tonight, with the windows open.

Ses/Gyo I am definitely up for a meet up at the Priory. Count me in!

Diege - our birth difficulties sound very similar! GC did not descend either. Although he was only 8lb 2 his head was right back when trying to engaged, so face first and would not descend. All my hours of pushing only succeeded in squashing his poor little head. Have been told only c sections if I have any more.

Cosmo - nice to see you on here again! I have a wooden play gym from ikea that GC will spend ages playing underneath so that I can get things done. I hang other toys and things from it to keep it novel. He will easily do an hour under there aslong as I keep talking to him/singing to him now and again. I also have a fisher price kick and play chair that has lights and music which keeps him amused for about half an hour.HTH

LBOT - That is a shame about your DH's job but I am sure their relationship wont suffer. Like Bumpy said its quality not quantity that counts. Infact it will probably be much harder on you than either of them as you wont get a break. Do you have family and friends nearby who could help out? Even if its just in the early weeks?

Gyo - not sure about boob pain but even though I had no visible symptoms of thrush they did feel uncomfortable from time to time so I was treated anyway. It will def be worth keeping an eye out and get it early if it is. I know it sounds obvious but have you checked SG's tongue? Even right at the back? Hope you havent got it!

Sorry to anyone Ive missed!

Kayzr · 30/06/2009 07:22

Morning,

That Murray match was so good last night!!! Really hoping for a Federer Murray final!

Gruff, Lovely to hear from you. It is too hot isn't it. Your post made me laugh where you put 'Ses/Gyo I am definitely up for a meet up at the Priory. Count me in'. Just made me think that you were meeting at that celeb rehab place

Cosmo, Hello!! Glad you are ok. I can't believe your DD is 12 weeks!! Seems to be going so fast!

Diege, Glad the meeting went well. Are you sure you don't want number 5!!??

IDOB, I hope your DP can find a job soon. We'll have to meet for coffee(or tea don't like coffee) soon.

Well I did the marzipan on the cake yesterday and just need to do the icing now. I have got some light blue icing, hoping it goes well.

Kayzr · 30/06/2009 07:37

I also forgot to say-

MINM, hope the move goes very well!!! Hope you get settled in quickly.

SesHasFinallyBecomeAMum · 30/06/2009 07:47

Morning!

Priory Park in Reigate sounds like a plan then!
Bumpy - hope that's ok with you.
Cosmo - if you can get to Redhill or Coulsdon South or Reigate train station I can easily pick you up but understand getting across London to get a train from Victoria may not be appealing. Would be really good to see you and April but we could always do a London meet late August/ early Sept which LBOT and others may be able to do too. Actually lets do that as well anyway!!

Definitely too hot for DS. I have him in a nappy and vest day and night at the moment.

We've noticed a real change in DS in the last week. We're getting some lovely big twinkly-eyed wide smiles. He's also making some lovely baby noises that's not crying or whinging. His legs are finally starting to show signs of chubbiness too!!!
OMG! My little baby is growing up!!!

The Murray match was a bit of a nail biter wasn't it! DH wasn't that fussed about watching it and asked me to Sky+ it!!! DS and I watched the final set upstairs in bed!

SesHasFinallyBecomeAMum · 30/06/2009 07:49

Morning Kay!
Lol at us going for sleb rehab!!

Kayzr · 30/06/2009 08:14

Think I might do the cake icing tomorrow. Might pack the kids up and go to the beach!!

juleshaslostheridol · 30/06/2009 08:51

morning

glad u got some things sorted diege re birth

diege go go with shopping

beach sounds good kay

is dull here @ the mo

Diege · 30/06/2009 09:10

Morning! Agree SES a real nail biter that Murray match last night! Really glad he got through, as it makes the tennis a bit more interesting to have someone to support (in place of Rafa, natch ). Mini-SES sounds gorgeous btw - it's lovely when they start to 'do' things.
KAYZ, def no no.5 We have been looking at house and I mentioned they'd be room for another one and his face was a picture . Was my aim to complete family by 40, which I've done, although I suppose you can never say never and I might do a Cherie Blair mid-40s... Enjoy the beach today!
GRUFF,same here in heat, nappy and no covers last night (he pulled sheet off). Agree, our births do sound similar. I wouldn;t necessarily say you'd need a section next time though, only 1 in 250 chnace of the position thing happening again apparently, though I'm no consultant . Our Trust would try normal birth first in your situation after just the one section.
Morning TINKS! Dull here too, though expecting sun later. Waiting for delivery of a changing bag (last one too small), another sling , and some mini-boden clothes
THanks for e-mail LBOX - now I just have to remember the 'safe' place I put it in
Expecting hv at 11. A new one so I live in hope. Think I'll just make the right noises and mentally say goodbye anyway, don't think I'll be doing the weighing this time!

glaskham · 30/06/2009 09:14

Its dull here today, but still way too hot!!

Stupid plumber still hasn't been... but it looks like the leak has stopped for now... he's supposed to be coming today... but then thats what he said about friday and yesterday!!

DD2 slept much better last night, went from 8pm till 2.30am, then till 4.30am, then woke up at 7am... thats much betterthan being woken 5/6/7 time a night like it has been the last 4 nights!!

Morning,

Thanks for the offer Ses - would love to come but think I'll prob hold out for the central London meet as still a bit nervous of tube etc with pram.

Gruff - thanks for tips. I do put her on the play mat but she isn't batting toys that much yet so seems to get frustrated after 15 mins or so. I guess I just need to get a bit more inventive and try different things until she is able to play alone a bit. High maintenance baby!

Kayz - hello. I can't believe she is three months either - now I'm no longer pregnant and feeling sick the time is just flying past.

What a match last night! Can't wait for Wednesday's now.

Hi Glask, Diege, Jules.

glaskham · 30/06/2009 09:44

oh and shockingly all 3 DC's passports arrived yesterday!! we only sent them off about 2 weeks ago... and guess what i'd forgotten to sign mine apparently!! so we're just waiting on mine coming- i expect it mid-late next week... an expencive spend though just on 4 tiny little books!! haha!!

OP posts:
Diege · 30/06/2009 10:24

Wow that is quick GLASK! Agree, the price you have to pay for them really adds up. When are you going away?
Hi COSMO! Don't blame you about the tube! Have always wondered what happens with prams - is there a lift in the tube stations? Presume there must be for wheelchair users etc..
Jacob booked in for nursery yesterday. We had had a few concerns about the new nursery that dd3 and J will be starting at (just over the road from us)based on info' from our current nursery when we told them we were leaving and where we were going to . Have been open about our concerns with the new nursery manager, have spoken to childrens services too, plus work experience girls who we know, and am happy that it's a good place (well, as sure as you can be!). I'll still be working 4 days a week, but am starting J off with 3 days, and will see if I can work from home on the Thursday with him at home - may not work but would be great if I could. Not back till Jan anyway

Trying to stay off the biscuits today - find it really hard being tired and mostly in the house. What is it about chocolate digestives!

glaskham · 30/06/2009 10:32

Disneyland holiday is booked for the week begining 11th october. When the guy came with them i said 'really, you sure they're passports?' he said 'well thats all i deliver'.... DUH- i was so shocked it was them already!! I was expecting a 6 week wait or something and was so worried that we'd be waiting on them still the last few weeks before the holiday due to needing different photo's or something!!

OP posts:
Diege · 30/06/2009 13:09

You are organised GLASK! Great to have an October holiday to look forward to after the summer
HV has been, and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised! Very informed, interested etc, and also very much into gf/routines, and encouraging of mixed feeding J weighs 10Ibs 1.5 ozs, so is doing well, although has technically dropped off the 91st percentile and into the 80s..not worried though, nor is she, so all good.
Need to have a nap now otherwise I'll never last till tonight! Back later x
