fternoon all.... Had weigh in today it was at a different clinic as my usual one was closed yesterday but he now weighs 14lb 8oz so has put on 7 oz in 2 weeks!! Which is great.

He is not feeding very well today though only taking a couple of sips every now and then. Havent been able to express either as we ha$ve been out all day, just hope it will not mess with my supply. He is also being really sick so think the dairy I had may be hitting him either that or it is the stinking cold he has!!!

Anyone with older children how are they sleeping in the heat. Jessica (also has a stinking cold) was up till 10 last night when she is normally so good at going to bed. Could it be the heat???

Right i am going to try and force feed ds now wish me luck.... $

juleshatesalltheheat · 30/06/2009 16:09

hi

puffs and pants in the heat [hmmm][hmmm][hmmm][hmmm]

yummy.
atlanta had a great time in the class playing

glask - oct hol sounds great we are off to centre parcs in 3 weeks atlanta cant wait asks every day if we are going yet we went last year and she luved!!

the fast flow teats are working great now with bracken she drinks it so quick now an oz a min
and she has started cow and gate number 2

Diege · 30/06/2009 17:27

Hello! TINKS, centreparks sounds good; never been myself but my sister goes regularly and says it's brilliant for little ones.
LB, same here with older dds. Both dd1 and 2 were awake until 10 last night complaining of the heat; think it was gone 11 by the time the talking stopped, which doesnlt give them much rest as they're up at 6 Good going on weight-gain too, that's brilliant

Going to try out the grapeseed oil on J's dry skin now, as recommended by hv. She has also rung back with some info' about special pants, pilates and oesteopaths for my tummy and is chasing up my physio appoint'. Am shocked by this sudden efficiency I am encountering from the NHS

Kayzr · 30/06/2009 19:26

Hello!!

Whitby was absolutely GORGEOUS!!! It was lovely and warm but there was a nice breeze. I took DS1 on Elizabeth the steam bus and he loved it. I've caught the sun which is nice but my legs are still pasty white despite being in shorts!!

Hope everyone is well!!

SesHasFinallyBecomeAMum · 30/06/2009 20:57

Whitby sounds like it was a great day out Kay!

Diege - I'm in amazement at NHS efficiency! Also great that your HV seems supportive and sounds like J is doing really well!

Far too hot for me and DS today. He's been v restless and wanting to feed a lot. Hard to keep him cool when he wants to be cuddled the whole time! I've changed his vest 3 times to tryand keep him refreshed.

GYo · 30/06/2009 23:33

Evening all

Wow what a lovely day, if not a little warm!

Diege- so glad things are going well and the supervisor of MW meeting was ok. Good to get some answers on the subject. Hurray for a good HV! Mine is great and I thought I was in the minority. Glad J is gaining weight nicely too.

Hi Ses, think hot weather is very hard on the babies, glad that your DS is doing ok though. Im struggling with how much heat im transfering during breast feeding!

Are we up for a Priory meet then? (LOL Kay, does sound funny) did you have any idea when you fancied it? Will be great to meet you LB

Kay, day out sounds fab. A nice breeze must be lovely at the beach.

IDOB- hope you are ok today.

Hi Cosmo, glad to hear you are lurking

Hi to everyone else lurking Star, Jules, Moosy, Sorky, LBOT, and MINM have safe trip.

We've had a good day, went to see Gruff and the GC this afternoon. Was great, GC is such a handsome boy, with a gorgeous smile and the Small Giraffe loves his play gym She has been ok in the heat until this afternoon when she got all in a lather so she had an early bath and went to bed at 6.30pm. Rather unusually she has just woken looking for food, so wondering if this is the start of a growth spurt or just heat related.. will see how the night goes but usually an 11ish feed spells for a rocky night ahead

NatalieJane · 01/07/2009 07:01

Good morning everyone

Busy busy busy here still, have been lurking, with little sucess...

Diege am so pleased the meeting went well, are all of the questions/doubts/worries answered? J sound's like he is doing wonderfully well - well done you!

Gyo, glad you had a nice afternoon with Gruff and GC

LB, you never fail to impress me, you've been so strong through all the troubles, I'd have just crawled up into a ball by now. 7oz in two weeks is a good gain, so at least you don't have to worry he isn't getting enough with all the sickness.

Kay, Whitby sounds lovely - we tried to get to Southport on Sunday, it was lovely and sunny and warm here, drove all the way there with it getting greyer and greyer, by the time we got into Southport it was raining, so we came the long way home and drove through some of the areas that I've seen nice houses in! Kids weren't happy one little bit. By the time we got home, it was lovely and sunny again

Am sure there was more I wanted to say, sorry if I've missed anything important.

Am back on the cleaning bug, got estate agents coming tomorrow for valuations. Got the new car last night, am quite impressed, it's a lot older than we're used to at 8yo, was expecting it to be a bit rough around the edges so to speak, but it's actually very comfortable, more so than our Zafira, and it is very nice being able to look out the window and see a car that is paid for and is completely ours and it's saving us best part of £500 a month! Except I keep seeing it parked on the drive out of the corner of my eye and for a split second thinking "Who's that parked in our drive? And where's our car gone?" before the penny drops

Other big news, my sister went for her 12 week scan on Monday, first baby, everything all good, except there are two first babies There are twins on our side of the family, but a fair way away (Mum's Aunt had twins years and years ago). Am stuck half way between really pleased for them, and thanking my lucky stars it wasn't me think I could have handled twins as a 'first' baby, but if Mikey had have turned out to be Mikey's, think I'd have ran away to the circus!

Kayzr · 01/07/2009 08:01

Morning,

Nat, Congrats to your sister!!! I have always wanted twins Great news on the car. I know what you mean about seeing a new car. MIL got a new car about 2 years ago and I would go to collect DS1 after work and see her new car but not her old one. I'd then wonder where they were.

GYo, Glad you had a nice day with Gruff!!

It is to bloody hot!! Our room thermometer shows 28.7 degrees at 8am! That is with the window open!!

Hope you are all well.

juleshatesalltheheat · 01/07/2009 08:29

morning

too hot again is supposed to be cooler tom

kay - your day sounded great

nat - hi glad u got car good luck today with valuations
wow to your sis how exciting

gyo sounds good

Kayzr · 01/07/2009 08:32

Pics Just a few pictures. Whoever last used the camera didn't turn it off so there wasn't much battery.

Moosy · 01/07/2009 10:06

Nat, glad the car is good, and that it waves you so much money each month, that must be a huge relief for you. And for your sister too! I would happily have had twins the first time and maybe even the second, but was terrified of it happening this time!

Diege, glad your meeting went well yesterday and lucky you getting a decent HV too!

I did read eveything else, but it's all gone whoosh out of my blonde pg head sorry if I missed anything important.

DD2 is doing really well without nappies, she's been wearing knickers for 2 days now and only had one small accident just before bedtime yesterday We even went out for a bit yesterday (only to the barn and to see mum and she carried herpotty with her the whole time!) and she was fine - phew!

The barn is coming along nicely too, 2 rooflights went in yesterday and the other 2 are going in this morning so then it can rain all it wants as the roof will be waterproof!! And the electricians were in doing the 2st fix yesterday and 1 RSJ is in, it's all happening rather fast now!

bumpsnowjustplump · 01/07/2009 10:58

Well after a fab night (DS only woke twice) we have have a crap morning!!!! He hasn't kept anything down this morning and both ds and dd have a rash all over them. I have no car as we are unable to tax DP's (because the insurance certificate hasn't arrived yet) so he has taken mine which means I can not take them to dr to check it!! I am sure it is the virus that they both have but I hate rashes and they worry me!!!!

I have dont the glass test and all fine with that, is there anything else I should check?

Mossy glad the barn is coming on you will be in there in no time!!!

Kay glad you had a lovely day

lastboxoftampons · 01/07/2009 11:00

Hi everyone

Moos - LOL at your blonde PG head! I've been meaning to look at your barn pics on FB. Waterproof is a huge step! Well done! Do you have a move-in date?

NJ - yay for new car! £500 a month! That's like mat pay all over again!

Bump - weight gain is fantastic! Woohoo!!

Glask - enjoy your holiday! Sounds liek so much fun and a good one to look forward to. I love Disney, but DH is against it for some reason ! I've already told him that when we move back to the States I'm taking the kids to Disneyworld with or without him - there's no way I'd deny my children Micky Mouse!

Ses - I've been thinking it must be hard to hold/cuddle them in this heat. Poor little bodies must get so sweaty, but they don't understand that, do they? Baby monitor arrived yesterday and I plugged it in and the warning "temp too hot" kept flashing! and that was after 11pm!

Kay glad you had a nice day at the beach - I'm jealous!

Bee arrived yesterday too and we had fun putting it up (there's not much to assemble at all). It's currently parked in the baby's room and I've put a rugby ball in it so that DH will smile when he sees it! Car seat should be arriving today! then just need the moses basket and we're ready for this baby!!!

Sparklytwinkletoes · 01/07/2009 11:49

Morning all - really struggling in the heat, feel quite poorly, my throat has swollen up, my nose is blocked (assuming hayfever) I have a headache despite drinking lots. I also can't face eating in the heat, and so now feel quite queasy.

Baby won't stop spinning in my tummy either, which just adds to the nausea.

Also, can anyone tell me, without laughing at me for being crap, what exactly do you do with pooed on pants (DS seems to have the hang of weeing on the potty, just not poos ).

At the moment they are in a bowl in the kitchen, filled with water, splash of washing liquid and a sprinkling of vanish powder.

Please tell me I don't have to scrub the poo.
I will be sick.

Today is his first 'short day' and I pick him up at 2. The transition from FT WOHM to FT Housewife and PT SAHM is hard going and I'm hoping that it'll be alright, for DS sake more than anything else.

DH and I had a row last night, not over anything major, but was quite a big falling out, it seems to be happening a lot at the moment . His last comment before I moved into the spare room was that the reason he doesn't do anything (i.e. talk to me) in the evenings other than watch telly is that he "has to use his brain all day".

Thanks. I needed that. Great boost to my confidence.

bumpsnowjustplump · 01/07/2009 12:16

Oh STT it must be so hard for you in this heat. DH is a nit for saying that but I bet he didn't mean it!!!1

As for poo could you buy really cheap pants and throw them away? Sorry Jessica has not pood in knickers YET so dont know!!

Kayzr · 01/07/2009 12:18

Sparkly, your DH is a pest!! Honestly you should get him to spend a day at home with DS while you go and get pampered!! Then see how he likes it.

Well I have iced the cake but it looks bloody horrible. I don't know why I ever thought I would be able to do anything remotely good.

bumpsnowjustplump · 01/07/2009 12:21

pics please Kay I am sure it is not as bad as you think

Moosy · 01/07/2009 12:27

How did you ice it Kayz and what's gone wrong? It might be rescueable, what sort of icing did you use?

STT when knickers get pood in here I tip the poo out and if it's a just a few skids (TMI?) they go in the wash as normal. If it was a messy one (DD1 had diarrhoea in hers once) then I rinse them off then put in the wash as normal. I haven't thrown a pair out yet [too tight!]

bumpsnowjustplump · 01/07/2009 12:30

bump prays that DD doesnt go backward or I will be skint

Sparklytwinkletoes · 01/07/2009 12:30

Thanks guys - I like that you weren't too hard on DH, you're right, he's just a pest and doesn't think (I hope).

I'd like him to be pregnant for a little while, and spend all his day doing washing, cleaning, washing, dishes, washing, putting clothes out to dry, washing, getting clothes in and put them away, tidying.... did i mention washing???!!! God damn how can there be sooooo much? Lol, its my own fault, I keep 'finding things', like rugs and dog bedding etc - but it does all need doing. Oh well, gets the nesting out of the way good and early

Thank god I'm not ready to have this baby yet - I think I'd have to spend even more time in a cold bath if I was 8/9 months gone.

Kay, have you got piccies of the cake? I'm with bumpy, I bet its not anywhere as bad as you think, we're always super critical of our own work - my mum always says (bless her) that home made things have their own 'charm' and I have to agree.

Kayzr · 01/07/2009 12:33

I used regalice to cover the cake. It just kept sticking to the table despite using loads of icing sugar. So in the end I had to do the top and sides seperately instead of all together. I haven't done the decorations as I am doing them on Saturday. So I am hoping to rescue it.

Here it is.

Sparklytwinkletoes · 01/07/2009 12:35

x-posted, Moosy, its a fairly hefty skid, not lumps, but ..you know, like, thick enough to get under your nails

Hence I thought perhaps if I soaked them long enough - then shove them through the washing machine it might work!

At least it sounds like I'm not missing any obvious tricks which makes me feel less ignorant.

I'm hopeless at housework and domesticity - although I AM trying.

I'm quite pleased with myself this morning, I've got quite a few jobs done (still a few left to do before getting DS) but the biggie was sorting out all online banking stuff - we've moved bank accounts and had to wait till I got the internet details through to shuffle the lumps of money around to the right pots as it were. One step closer to organising myself into having a monthly 'salary' rather than just a huge pot which seems to be getting smaller a bit too quickly.

I've also contacted jobseekersplus and they're sending me a form to claim for maternity allowance as I won't get any SMP. Can't seem to get any other benefits as DH 'earns too much'.... although I feel that's a matter of opinion... kind of depends on what you're used to?

GYo · 01/07/2009 13:17

Quick post

LB- could rash be heat rash? DD has had it on her body.

Hi STT hope you are feeling better soon
