another one - sorry! which would any of you go for - bumbo or door bouncer? DD is desperate to be upright and rolls to front pretty much immediately when on gym, but then not so keen on staying there - anyone got any views? ta muchly!

Kayzr · 27/06/2009 12:38

DS2 loves his door bouncer!!! Would probably spend hours in it. We have a bumbo but we don't use it after DS1&2 have both fallen out of it.

NatalieJane · 27/06/2009 13:05

Oh Star, now that's all I can bloody sing! Grrrrr!

Moosy, dinner sound's erm.... interesting Poor you, at least it turned out alright in the end!

LB, hope both DC's make a quick turn around, have no idea how you are staying upright.

We have had both the door bouncers and a bumbo, DS1 and 3 love love love the door bouncer, DS2 wasn't into either of them, but I didn't buy a bumbo this time, DS2 fell out of his, he never actually sat in it for more than 2 minutes, and he didn't 'alf'en look uncomfortable in it.

I am going to buy DS3 one of those entertainer station thingy's when I get round to it, DS1 loved his, didn't get one with DS2, we plumped for a jumperoo which he loved for 5 minutes, didn't last long, but think DS3 would love the entertainer thingy as much as DS1 did. (Will also hopefully come in handy when I'm packing the rest of the house up and he's under my feet, he is shuffling around the floor on his belly like a soldier in the grass, using his arms to pull himself along, very cute, but quite dangerous with DS2 running around behind him!)

juleshaslostheridol · 27/06/2009 14:16

hi

it wasnt aimed @ u nj it was lovely of you to be thinking about me
i just meant if say some other pop singer had died who was very famous and i didnt like them i would say in here as i know that other people really like them

princess dianes death upset me too another very kind person

nj - i would start weaning him if he is 6 months then he can start getting used to different textures.
go for it
wouldnt worry about himn not sitting hv advised me to wean both dds @ 4 months when they obviuosly cant sit and dd1 didnt sit till 9 months if i had waited for her to sit would have been ages.
i feed bracken in her bouncer.
i am using th gf weaning book which seems to be working.

regarding door bouncer or bumbo - dont get on with bumbo dd1 pushed herself out and bracken doesnt go in door bouncer very often so fiddly to put her in and doesnt use bumbo.
find activity station much better we have leapfrog learn and groove station really good for somewhere to put them got it cheaper on ebay.
they stand in it and has lots of musical activitys to do seat spins around is from 4 months or when they can hold head straight.
she goes in that lots and under her activity gym plus in bouncer.

lol @ mikey sounds cute

have ordered dds more books on amazon have just been in town and bought 2 pairs of cropped summer trpousers mum gave me the money they are a size 12 under flab was running out of bottoms

juleshaslostheridol · 27/06/2009 14:18

hadnt forgotten you glas hope all ok your end poor you take carex

SesHasFinallyBecomeAMum · 27/06/2009 15:42

DS has just slept for half an hour in his moses basket! DH sat with him and I went and tidied up the kitchen and then played with the dogs in the garden

Can someone enlighten me? What's a bumbo??!

Farmers market was good. We bought some olive bread (sorry Moos!), strawberries, tomatoes, eggs and burgers&sausages for BBQ tomorrow.

SesHasFinallyBecomeAMum · 27/06/2009 16:47

Aah! Thanks Jules!

DS is in really good form today! Lots of proper smiles and he just had fub un his playmat

I'm watching Wimbledon. C'mon Andy!!

sorky · 27/06/2009 17:20

Bumbo's are rubbish.

Nat if he can sit up in a high chair and grab food and put it in his mouth then he's ready.
6 months is the minimum to wean, it's perfectly okay to wait a little longer if you want to.

Glask Im still holding the half a stone I want rid of, but know it's because I'm BF. I'm hoping it'll be the same this time as with the others and I'll lose it as soon as the night feeds have stopped.

Bumpy you made me lol about the monkey

sorky · 27/06/2009 17:24

Star will have a look now on fb.

Kayz I meant to add, is he tiredness worse by the afternoon because it could be Chromium deficiency. I have to take a supplement for that and it's brilliant, but I understand you wanting to wait for the bloods.

sorky · 27/06/2009 17:33

Have answered Star

GYo · 27/06/2009 18:52

Hey
Sorry I've been absent, just not had time to do a full catch up but been lurking

Glask- hope you are ok and over shock.

Sorky- got to ask, why is it that BFing makes you retain weight?

I've had no luck shifting half stone to get back to pre preg weight. Didnt realise that could be reason. Am not bothered really except none of my decent clothes do up and Im too tight to buy loads of new ones.

Head is fried today from heat and DH is doing up the bathroom so dust and crap everywhere... not so good but will be great when done.

sorky · 27/06/2009 21:32

I have no clue GYo, it is BF though.
My sister found that she held onto 1/2 stone too until she fully weaned her kids.
Mine is all around my middle irritatingly. My tops don't fit because my boobs are so big (compared to normal), and my jeans are too tight (regular) so I'm in my chunky jeans, still small, but not back to normal iyswim.

I know dieting and exercise will make little difference now until the night feed is dropped. My weight during her growth spurts went up to 1 stone over pre-pg weight

It does come off within a week of weaning though
This is the hardest part of pregnancy and the early months for me

Good news about your bathroom though

SesHasFinallyBecomeAMum · 27/06/2009 21:55

Hi! I thought your body hung onto a bit extra in weight so that it had some reserves to be able to continue BF incase you are unable to eat properly due to illness or famine.

Moosy · 27/06/2009 22:33

Hmm, mine does the opposite. I waste away in early pg, slooooooowly get it back in the last few months, then lose it all in the first week after birth. My finishing weight 2 weeks after having DD2 was a whole stone lighter than my starting weight before having DD1.

Moosy · 27/06/2009 22:33

Mind you, I think I'm odd and my body's just a bit shit.

Kayzr · 28/06/2009 07:41

Morning,

Thanks for that Sorky. I will look into it. I'll see if there are any multi vitamins that have B12 and Chromium in.

DS1 wants to walk to the castle!! Still in his pjs, refusing any breakfast and just wants to go to the castle. We were planning to go for a walk anyway but trying to persuade him to wait a while and get dressed first.

Watched Andy get through to the 2nd week of Wimbledon last night. Kept yelling at the tv when he dropped a point.

Hope you are all having good weekends.

bumpsnowjustplump · 28/06/2009 08:31

Sorky or Glask if you are lurking HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!111

Went to neighbours birthday bbq. And think I might have drunk nearly a bottle of wine over the evening. Not sure didnt feel drunk and dont have a hangover. Should I use my frozen milk today just incase.

DS stole the show, DD had a lovely time. It was a really lovely evening DP wondered back in at 4 this morning and is still in bed.

I also ate dairy, A man was handing out nibbles while we were chatting I took a sausage roll and bit into it. It had cheese in it. I couldnt spit it out and scream "NO dairy is the food of the devil" so just ate it saying yum!!!!! How long do you think it will take to get a reaction star?????

Hi to everyone else, hope you are well... DD is much better today but ds is still very poorly. No screaming last night though he was awake a lot!!!!

Star I am going to look on FB now...

GYo · 28/06/2009 08:52

Morning

Party sounds good LB. I know you werent asking me but I'd be tempted to use ebm this morning for first feed then go back to BFing for the alcohol thing. No idea about the dairy thing.

Kayz- Not sure if it would help but if you wanted to keep a food diary for a week or so I'd be happy to look at it for you. I have a nutrition background and worked in the area for a few years before going into my current job. Happy to help. Dont worry if not, I've offended people in the past by suggesting this so sorry if I offend you.

Trip to the castle sounds fun

Kayzr · 28/06/2009 08:55

GYo, if the blood results come back normal then I'll do it. But I just want to get them back before I start making changes to my diet.

sorky · 28/06/2009 08:56

Bumpy you'll be fine to feed him as normal today. Alcohol leaves the system as normal so a unit an hour. There won't be any left in your system today, I don't think.
I would continue as normal.

Boo to the dairy!

Enjoy the castle Kayz , actually which castle is it?

You've reminded to go shopping online for my Vits as they're getting low and I'm feeling a bit run down atm

Ses that makes sense I guess. Are you hanging onto a bit more too?

Moos goes without saying

Miserable day here, allotment must be visited today
I'm watching telly this morning It's the triathlon, fantastic! Feel a little inspired....

bumpsnowjustplump · 28/06/2009 08:56

GYO thanks for that I think i might as well. He did have a couple of feeds in the night so it might be pointless but i think I will give him a big bottle this morning...

I cant believe I drunk so much. I took a bottle of rose bubbles with me. DP said he had a glass but everyone else said they were leaving it for me. I looked at it was empty. I am sure I didnt drink that much and not feel drunk (I would have been drunk before i had ds) but everyone swore i must have had it as they hadnt... how bad is that!! No more for me for ages now..

juleshaslostheridol · 28/06/2009 09:03

morning

bumpsnowjustplump · 28/06/2009 09:04

Oh and a quick question for you all. DS is now rolling all the time he has gone from back to tummy and onto back etc from one end of the room to the other all morning. He has been doing this a lot and I am worried he will fall out of his mosses basket, is it time to move him now?

Diege · 28/06/2009 09:15

Morning . Sounds like a good night LB! Sure you'd be fine bf today - as SORKY says alcohol leaves the body pretty rapidly, but can see why you may prefer ebm too.
GYO, didn;t realise you used to work in nutrition (is that right?) - the 'skill bank' for the wagon is growing!
KAYZ, trying to think which castle you might mean that's local to you?? Enjoy anyway!
Weather here lovely again, though difficult to find flattering and cool clothes with my tummy! My stomach muscles have separated due to big baby they think, so have attractive dome effect
Odd night last night! Jacob was asleep all afternoon, so wasn;t ready for bed at 7. Put him up as usual, but grizzling all night so brought him down where he dozed on and off on my chest. Gave him a bottle at 10.15, back in basket, and he slept until 5.45am . Due to being awake so long, but so nice not to have that night waking, even if it's just the once!
Have people coming to see the house later, so trying to get straight (impossible) and then this afternoon will be taking dd3 and J to costa coffee for a cake while older dds go swimming with dh. Quite nervous, which is silly I know!
Right, better get dressed. Oh and am pleased to say that I have been keeping one to two bf in a day after all, and seems to be working ok alongside bottle feeding. Midwife thinks it's worth keeping in, so will do for now .
Hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine (sorry SORKY!) - a hot one next week apparently
