Hello everyone.
Our cat is off to live with someone else today, leaving us just the old girl now. He keeps peeing on the kids' toys outside and then the bath panel and the sofa yesterday, that sealed his fate. Mucho cleaning today

Well I didn't know MJ had died yesterday, until it seemed to be on fb a lot. I switched the tv on and it was flippin hysterical!!
Can I just add a MEH to the whole thing? Got better things to think about than some crazy fella snuffin' it.

Speakin of which Moos, I've just ass-whopped you, hehe x

Back on later to do a catchup when I've sorted the cat I think.

Have a lovely day everyone

Morning... DH apologised when he got in from collecting DS. He took the stuff to the charity shop and then we had lunch before taking the DC's swimming to sandcastle- it was fantastic!! DS was crying when we were leaving and we'd been there for over 4 hrs!!

Then when the older DC's were in bed DD2 was in her pram trying to get to sleep, then she woke with a piercing scream then stopped breathing- i was rubbing her chest and she was doing nothing, she didn't breathe for about 10secs... went purple and just as i was about to start helping her breathe she took in a massive breath... i was in tears, DH was stood in the middle of the living room crying, it was soooooooo scary!! Never had that happen with any of the other 2Dc's...

dont think people need to air mean thoughts about mj - he was my idol and a ledge

sorky · 27/06/2009 09:43

god Glask is she okay now?
You must've got such a shock. What do you think caused it?

Jules it's the beauty of MN I'm afraid, not everyone's bothered he's gone. I can admire his talents, but can't mourn him. The news reminds me of the passing of Diana, it's ridiculous.
There are servicemen dying who deserve the airtime imho.

glaskham · 27/06/2009 09:47

yeah- she's fine- i was awake most of the night watching her sleep... dont know what caused her to do it, but it was just as scary as when she was rushed to hospital when she had hypothermia!! She likes to keep us on our toes that one!!

OP posts:
Diege · 27/06/2009 10:05

Morning GLASK, that must have been so scary. Have they told you it's something you need to expect/look out for?? I have heard that breath-holding is quite common, but obviously very, very scary when it happens
JULES, as has been said I think on public forums you will get a mix of responses to things like MH's death; as SORKY says part and parcel of mumsnet. Please don't feel that your feelings aren't valid though - I'm sure many people feel the same xx
Good luck with cleaning SORKY - we had a dog like that and I have to say it was a relief when they passed away .
KAYZ, that's not bad one waking. Do you feel ok? Oh meant to say on allergy testinbg front my friend has had to cut out loads - dairy, wheat the biggies, but has felt so much better that she says it's worth it. The only thing she misses is chocolate, but has found a few places that sell dairy-free types.
Slow start today - ok night, but J woke 6ish rather than 7 so that little bit more tired. Really can't complain at 3.30am waking though; don;t know how I coped with hourly feeds with dd1! Aim of today is to wash my hair and change our bedding!

SesHasFinallyBecomeAMum · 27/06/2009 10:07

Morning!

Glask - that must have been soo scary I can't imagine. Glad your DH realized the error of his ways!

Sorky - poor cat but also poor toys. Sounds like the best thing though!

Diege - I don't know how you do it! He's less than 2 weeks old and you're managing all 4 DC on your own!!

Jules - I'm afraid Sorky's right about the beauty of MN. Everyone will have their own opinion. In RL I have already heard quite a few jokes though that were too distasteful too soon. Whether you like his music or not it has influenced many though and I'm sure that will remain.

Talking of people deserving of attention though, did anyone know it's Armed Services Day today? First I knew about it was yesterday!

glaskham · 27/06/2009 10:12

I knew it was ASD there's a massive family day for armed forces family's at the local parks...

Diege- no- it was never mentioned- but as part of our disgharge i had to be shown the actual baby recusitation procedure.... so i expect it may be common/expected in prems?? Though it all went out the window last night- i was just way too scared and panicked!!

OP posts:
sorky · 27/06/2009 10:15

How is she today? Are you seeing a doc, just in case?

Morning girls

SesHasFinallyBecomeAMum · 27/06/2009 10:16

I've just had a message on FB from a friend who gets married next Sat. One of her bridesmaids has swine flu! Fortunately she's not too I'll but she's on tamiflu. They really want to keep her as a bridesmaid but hoping that's not irresponsible and doesn't freak out the guests. Not easy!

Kay - meant to say I think following up the allergies is worthwhile if the tiredness is affecting you that much. You never know, it may mean cutting something out you didn't really like anyway!!

glaskham · 27/06/2009 10:16

I'm not sure... considring phoning the outreach nurses just to see what they suggest- she's been fine since- so i feel i'm making fuss over nothing... but would hate to have missed something...

OP posts:
sorky · 27/06/2009 10:18

It's a tough call isn't it, spesh with you just being discharged. Hopefully its a one-off

NatalieJane · 27/06/2009 10:25

Morning

Jules, sorry didn't mean to offend you, I do feel bad for his family/friends/fans, and as I said, the first thing I thought of was you, just in my own opinion, I'd rather not have to keep channel hopping to avoid hearing about how great he was. (Having said that channel 4 had a good thing on last night, just his music and videos, we bopped away )

Glask, it is very scary, DS2 used to do it all the time, I found the best thing is to blow on their face, just a short sharp blow, they don't like it at all, but it does get them breathing again. Hope it was a one off.

Gruff, glad you had a good birthday

Sorky, sorry about your cat. I've done nothing but moan about ours for years, but when we move if we can't take her with us, I will miss her in an odd way. Won't miss her jumping up on the kitchen sides, or legging it up the stairs if we haven't remember to shut all the doors, or letting other cats come in and eat her food and spray all around the kitchen/back door/porch, but we've had her since she was a baby, will be sorry to see her go.

I have a question, Mikey is 6 months old today, he is having 5 or 6 8oz bottles a day, sleeping through no problem, doesn't seem to be getting hungrier, can't sit up on his own (or he can but only because his big belly keeps him up! He ends up leaning that far forward he can't breathe!) do I go ahead and start weaning because he's hit the magic week or do I wait until he is showing signs, or is at least sitting up, or something else?

SesHasFinallyBecomeAMum · 27/06/2009 10:28

Glask - I know it's cliched but follow your instinct. If it's going to worry you or you think something underlying is wrong maybe give them a ring. Otherwise if you're not concerned about it now, it was probably a one off.

We're off to the local Farmers Market in a bit and then I'm looking forward to watching the tennis this afternoon.

NatalieJane · 27/06/2009 10:31

Sorry cross posted again with loads of you

Morning Ses

Sorry Glask, didn't even think about it being a complication of being prem Just remember DS2 doing it a few times. Best to call them just in case. If I were you I'd rather call and seem to be OTT then not call and miss something.

Diege, good luck with hair washing, it's my shower of a morning I am still finding difficult to get done before school, most morning I end up in yesterday's clothes hair pinned up till after DS1's out of the house

glaskham · 27/06/2009 10:37

Well thats my thing ses- she's fine now- and has been fine since about 20secs after she did it!! I was scared last night but just stayed up watching her and she's been normal.... so i'm happy not to call them- BUT i know if it happened again i'd feel i was stupid not to ring now...

On the other hand- I've been told its common for a baby to hold their beath sometimes and i've never known another premmy- so its always been healthy full term babies... so i'm just thinking it as that... I'm on my own with all 3 DC's and if they told me to take her to hospital i honestly dont think there's much point in it as she's fine and it'd be sooooo much hassle for me to get her there on my own...

OP posts:
Kayzr · 27/06/2009 10:52

Glask, both of my boys have done it before. It is really scary but the blowing in the face does work. I rushed DS1 to the out of hours GP at 3am in my pjs only to be told it is fairly normal.

DS1 is quietly sitting watching Fireman Sam and DS2 is asleep. I've done the washing up, put some washing on, ironed loads and put it away. What is going on?????

I'm not going to cut anything out until I have had the blood tests. Then if they come back normal I will try cutting stuff out. But I have been told it could be a vitamin B12 defincey(rubbish spelling) so going to get some vit tablets.

Hope everyone is ok.

P.S has anyone noticed just how naughty Norman Price from Fireman Sam is???

Moosy · 27/06/2009 10:55

How scary for you Glask, DD2 used to hold her breath ALL the time, but as you say, she wasn't prem so not the same, but still worrying. She didn't do the scream with it though.

Kayz, could the tiredness be hayfever related?

Well our dinner out last night was a bit of a disaster. I had a bit of toast when the DDs had their tea to keep me going as I figured we'd eat later than normal, but in the end we didn't sit down to eat until gone 8 and I was staaaaaarving. I'd had some apple juice to drink before the meal was ready and felt ok, but like I needed savoury. So anyway she brings out a big casserole dish and I can smell garlic. That's ok I thought, I'm ok with garlic now, I can eat most stuff these days. She takes the lid off and I see olives (which I hate at the best of times!). Still ok I think, lots of people don't like olives, they won't think I'm weird if I leave them. Then she says it's Moroccan lamb

Kayzr · 27/06/2009 11:01

I've never had hayfever before so not sure if it could be that. Strangely enough I don't feel too bad today. I wonder if it is too much sleep.

Moosy that is quite funny!! Not for you of course. Hope you feel ok now.

bumpsnowjustplump · 27/06/2009 11:29

Morning all. Sorry I have been away alot but both little ones are really ill. Just got back from out of hours docs to get them checked out. They both have urti but nothing on the lungs (thank god)... DS was up all night crying and wasn't feeding at all. After calpol at GP he is now having a feed and has even managed a little smile

Glask what did they say at hospital? How scary for you. DS stopped breathing and went blue the other week if you remember very very nasty.

Moosy glad the night wasnt' a total right off. I am just wondering who would put olives in a lamb caserole anyway, I love olives but bleugh......... Hope you db is ok now has he no fear???

Well i must say that I am a real MJ fan. I loved his music and fancied the pants of him when we were growing up (I used to have naughty dreams about him as he was in smooth criminal) , I went all the way to Milton Keynes on the train with friends to see him in concert when we were 16!!! He was the king of pop. BUt Jeez he isn't god!!! He was a pop singer fgs! He didn't end world poverty or stop all the suffering in the world!! I do feel sorry for his three children though (although i feld sorry for them when he was alive as well) because lets face it who will look after them now? A mum who basically sold them and who they dont even know?? And what about the monkey? Who will look after the monkey???

glaskham · 27/06/2009 11:52

Right- have just been looking on FB and i am so slim in some of them!! I'm defo going on a BIG diet.... can anyone suggest how to go about doing it while i'm BFing still?? i dont wanna be a biffa until i stop BFing!!

OP posts:
Kayzr · 27/06/2009 11:57

You can do weight watchers while BF Glask.

Some of the Dec girls think I am pg. Extreme tiredness and strange movement like feelings are not symptoms!!

Starshinetiger · 27/06/2009 12:25

No comment on MJ really - liked his music, feel bad for his children and family.

But, all I've got in my head now after your post Bumpy is tha song that choruses with "...and what became of the monkey, monkey, monkey..."

Yes, i know you all think i'm mad!!!

Starshinetiger · 27/06/2009 12:31

btw bumpy, sorry dc are ill, really hoping for some good luck for you soon.

have posted a q on wall on fb group if anyone cares to take a look.

right, must concentrate on dc!

Kayzr · 27/06/2009 12:31

Bumpy, I think the monkey went ages ago!! I wouldn't like to have a pet chimp. We once watched a program about them and they are really quite psycho!!!
