Good morning troopers

God, have been rushed off my feet this week, not least with STT's visit It was so lovely to meet you both, thank you so much for coming all that way, hope the journey back wasn't too bad? J is absolutely gorgeous, and you are right to be so proud of him He is going to be just fine with his baby sister

Am trying to remember things (have been reading, but not had chance to post, so I have forgotten a lot!)

Glask, being discharged is great news, huge great big 'well dones' to the both of you! Sorry about leak, DS1 caused a big one when he was about 3yo, put plug in the sink in the bathroom, left tap running, no over flow, straight down into our, then, new kitchen, straight through the new ceiling and new plaster on the walls, all through the electrics on the boiler and extractor fan, was a nightmare! Hoping it is something simple to fix for you.

Diege, I think there is an admin fee for a copy of the notes, it differs from hospital to hospital, but from what I've read it's somewhere between £10 and £50, I think they put a cap on it so they couldn't charge more than £50. Must have been really lovely to see your Doula's pictures, can you ask for copy's of them as well? How are you feeling physically now? Any improvments?

Ses, it's scary in the night, but really the chances of it being you rolling on him are very small indeed, all three of ours have spent differing lengths of time sleeping with us, the only one time either of us did anything that could have been slightly dangerous was when DH fell asleep with his arm cuddling DS1 when he was about 6 months old, DH woke up, moved his arm and heard DS1 sigh like a 'phew he's finally moved his arm' sort of sigh, whether he woke up because he knew his arm was around him, or if DS1 had started sqirming or something, I don't know, but he woke up, DS1 wasn't hurt or anything, so no danger, though he never fell asleep cuddling any of them again!

Jules, We had the news on last night when it first came through he'd been taken to hospital with CA, first thing I thought of was you.

OK, my memory is shot, I KNOW there was other things I wanted to say....

House is almost done now, a few more cupboards need going through, but I think we are very nearly almost at the point, where everything that is in the house will be coming straight to the new house, along with the stuff in the storage, and all the junk is gone gone gone. DH is going to be cutting the lawns at the weekend, and doing a genral tidy up outside, sweeping up, cutting bushes, cleaning all the windows and the porch etc. etc. etc. and then next week am hoping to get the estate agents in to give us the valuations and so we can decide who to go with. All a bit nerve racking and a lot scary but we have to do it. (Although now the house is almost empty, and we have room, even though it is 'false' room, because we couldn't live like this forever, I sit here looking around and remember all the good times we've had, playing with the boys, bringing DS2 and 3 home for the first time into this living room, christmas' birthdays, they all know this house like the back of their hand, DS2 was grumping about this morning, covered his face with both his hands and marched from the kitchen to the sofa in the living room, and didn't need to look where he was going once! Will be sad to leave - never thought I'd say that! )

We still need to sort through the garage, it is jam packed full of rubbish (old furniture, boxes from toys and stuff, DS1's pram is still in there I think!) garden toys, gardening equipment, a spare fridge/freezer, and another freezer, the dryer, the old dryer, and I think even the old old dryer we had before that ) And at some point, the house needs painting outside, but whether we get that far with it, I don't know!

DH has hurt his arm, it's been playing up for a few months now, but getting worse and worse, it's got to the point where even when picks Mikey up, I can see him wincing in pain, so I finally got him to go to the doctors last week (DH is not one for going to the docs for anything!) he had an xray on Monday, it's going to take 3 weeks for the results of it 3 weeks for someone to look at a picture! And then, when they have the results, they'll want him to book an appointment so they can tell him, which could be goodness knows how long! I said to DH, if it's something fairly serious, i.e. I don't really see how it could be a strained muscle or anything because firsty it's hurting above and below his elbow, that's two different muscles, and secondly, it has been going on for so long. I'd guess it's either ligiment damage or that he's actually chipped his elbow or something, but things like that un-treated can cause serious long term damage. And I know if he wasn't so bloody bullish he'd have gone to the docs a lot sooner, but I still think 3 weeks to look at a picture is bloody ridiculous!

Sorry, will get off me ol' soap box and shut up now! Have warbled on like a bloody warbler again

NatalieJane · 26/06/2009 10:14

Blinking 'eck, that was humongous, just ignore ignore ignore, was all a load of old tripe anyway!

Starshinetiger · 26/06/2009 10:45

Hmm - internet connection just went totally caput while I was typing post

Am so not in touch with real world at the mo - yesterday didn't have tv, radio or PC on all day! Wouldn't have heard about MJ if it weren't for you guys

Ses - sorry for screaming in night - in my experience, screaming with wind can be very loud in these early weeks, especially if it is of the bottom, rather than oral variety! They do get better at bringing up wind!

Glask - yay for discharge - well done both of you!

STT - glad you had a good time at NJ's

Diege - long may your sleepy baby continue.

NJ - yay for house clearing.

Sorky - yay for napping baby! Hope teething is improving for both.

Kayz - good suggestion by Diege. Is worth getting it checked out properly (Watchdog did rather disparaging piece on uselessness of home tests), but you can just try food exclusion diet instead - bit like when you wean a baby, you cut out all most common allergens and then introduce one by one. If you start to feel better and then get worse when you eat one of them is a good indication you have a food intolerance. This site might be useful?

Kayzr · 26/06/2009 10:51

What would I have to cut out though? I'm not keen on cutting out loads off stuff.

glaskham · 26/06/2009 11:08

Argh- need to rant!!!! Bolldy DH has really really gotten to me this morning!!

I've had a few plans of things that needed doing today and as the plumber is coming i can't put it off as the house looks a mess...

Anyway- this morning DH was on the PC and was just about to start playing his Xbox after already spending half an hour on here looking at mobiles he might like... plus had sat doing naff all while i got up got a shower and got myself sorted, got up and sorted all 3 DC's- fed them (inc feeding DD2 twice!!) , took night-time nappies off, dressed them, put a load of washing out... all while DH either led in bed or sat on the sofa, or sorted his own breakfast out...

As he was about to turn his Xbox on i said 'dont think about playing on there yet- there's lots to do this morning'... he says 'i was only gonna have half an hour' to which i replied 'on top of the half hour you've just spent on the PC, i NEED these jobs doing now not later'....

So he gets in a strop, goes into the dining room and starts putting the clothes that are on the dining table onto the dirty (hoover broken for 4 weeks now and he's not fixed it yet) floor 'sorting them into who's is who's he says... i pick them up and explain the floor is dirty as i've not been able to hoover it... I then say i'll hoover and sort the piles if he takes them upstairs afterwards... cue strop again saying 'whats the point in asking me to do stuff if you're gonna make me feel like a twat for doing it wrong'.

I then told him there was loads of bin liners full of stuff to take to the charity shop that needed going in the boot while i sorted clothing, and then i also had some parcels he may aswell take to the post office for me as its only across the rd from charity shop, then while he was out i also needed him to go and get a new belt for the hoover to fix it today- have been crippling myself for the last 4 weeks using the hand tubey bit to hoover the living room floor only as it takes 45mins to hoover just that room!!

Cue him saying he never gets any time to himself to relax on his days off and if i did more round the house he'd be able to have more time to himself.....

I mean WTF??? Do i not cook and clean the whole house- at least the dining table was all clean clothes- he'd be able to say something if i wasn't washing!! He doesn't cook, doesn't clean, doesn't do much of the childcare at all...

Yes, he's lovely- and kind and generous, and is a complete walkover so i wear the trousers- but would it kill him to accept that i dont just do fuck all every day?? I look after all 3 DC's EVERY day!! even when he's off i do all the childcare... he'll sit on the sofa/PC/Xbox or he'll play the wii with DS... the only proper time he spends with DS involves playing computer games or taking him to nursery on his day off.

The kids want attention so will climb on him on the sofa and he'll ask them to get off as they're 'smothering' him... i mean i know the feeling as DD1 does it to me all day every day- BUT- it happens to him 2 days a week- he should make the most of them wanting to play with him.

He's out now and i'm fuming- i want to walk out for the day and leave him to cope... i'm so angry with him i wanna scream... oh and on top of everything else i do all the night feeds etc (as i'm BFing yes, but he sleeps through) and DD2 is having a growth spurt feeding 4x a night and 2hrly at least during the day ATM so i'm also very knackered....

sorry just wanted to rant....

Morning Star, when will you get the telly/radio back? I think I'd take to my bed and just not move if I couldn't listen to music!

Glask, deep breaths, when he get's back, go, sod the plumber coming, take Ruby with you, and go. Don't go back till after tea time. I would!

lastboxoftampons · 26/06/2009 11:33

Hello everyone:

Wow, what a news night - MJ and Farrah Fawcett Tink have you had any news from O2 about what will happen with your tickets? I assume they'll have to refund everyone?

Glask - well done on being discharged and Ruby's weight gain! So sorry your DH is being a jerk though Has he ever been left on his own with the 3 dc's for a day? He'd probably find going to work a lot easier. Glad he's gone out to run the errands, I'm not sure what else to say other than he'll get over it. Don't worry about your post being a 'jumble' I think all of us have been there and know EXACTLY what you mean!

Ses - poor DS Glad to hear he's better now. That scream must've been frightening though.

NJ - Must feel nice having had a massive clean out!

Kay - I also second Diege's recommendation. I've also had a friend with the same issues - turns out she had a wheat/gluten allergy. As for cutting things out, unfortunately, if it that's what makes you better... My friend has treats once in a while, but generally tries to avoid when she can.

Had a really nice appointment with the mw yesterday - gosh, never thought I'd say that! In fact, when I arrived at GP, they gave me a letter that they were giving to all pregnant women saying that they were revamping their systems because so many people have complained about the availability of the midwives! All fine and baby's head is down, but not engaged. Have to see the GP in two weeks time. I asked the mw if they'll be able to tell the position because I'm slightly wary of the GP's ability and she said if they're at all unsure or if the baby is not definitely head down, they're to send me for a scan - she gave me the referral form all filled out so that all they have to do is sign it, check one box and call in for an appointment. She said she didn't want them to have any excuses at all! Would've been lovely to have had her throughout the entire pregnancy!

Ordering the pram, carseat and monitor today! It's all real...!

juleshaslostheridol · 26/06/2009 11:34

hi cheers nj hun glad u r getting oragnised

juleshaslostheridol · 26/06/2009 11:35

lastbox - my dad purchased them

glaskham · 26/06/2009 11:48

Nat- i can't really go as it'd mean we can't take the DC's swimming and they're all exited to go....

LBOT- he's never had all 3, but when i was in hospital when PG with DD2 he had the older 2 DC's, which they can be left alone for a little while to do housework, unlike DD2 who can't be left alone with the older DC's in case they try to pick her up etc... and when he had them he did nothing at all- i was back-logged with washing until just a couple of weeks ago... and it all started because he'd not done a single load in the 2 weeks, and then i had another 2 weeks with DD2 in SCBU so couldn't really do it myself... then while she's been home i've been catching up, and trying to adjust to an extra persons washing aswell!!

Argh... he came home, had been to the post office and got the spare part for the hoover and has just fixed it finally... but he never went to the charity shop... so we have a boot full of stuff to take there, the plumber could be here any min and then we need lunch before hopefully going swimming.... he's a nightmare- he'll complain about going out again when i ask him to take them- but i'm not having them left in the dining room for another month (thats how long it is since i sorted them all out!!)

OP posts:
lastboxoftampons · 26/06/2009 12:33

Glask - I've had the same! Just last weekend, we were having friends over for a BBQ on Sunday. Was mental cleaning/getting ready on Saturday, then Sunday morning I managed to get up early while DH was still sleeping to get a start on preparation, he wakes up an hour and half later and starts playing games on the computer. I thought we were done with all of that when his Xbox was stolen, but I guess where there's a will there's a way! And mine's soon-to-be 37 years old! Maybe you arrange to be out all day on one of his days off just to give him a taste of what it's like to look after 3 kids! He won't truly ever know what it's like because I'm sure the house work will all get neglected, but he needs to know just how much work 3 kids are! I hope it gets better for you. I know what it's like to have a day ruined by similar behavior. Just try not to bottle it up - give him a list of things to do that you think he can't really screw up this way he has a clear understanding of what's expected of him. And try to have a good day with the kids!!

Do you remember my unicycling brother? The daft one? Well he's made the (local) news.

Sigh

Sparklytwinkletoes · 26/06/2009 16:02

Lol Moosy - glad he's OK, he'll have a great 'scrapbook' to laugh over when he's old and grey!

Kayzr · 26/06/2009 16:18

LOL Moosy!!!!

Having a Michael Jackson filled afternoon. My best friend rang earlier and we both cried for about 10 minutes. We loved him so much growing up and we tried to get tickets but we were unlucky. I keep bursting into tears.

NatalieJane · 26/06/2009 16:28

Hello Again Am so bored, house is squeaky clean and organised, DS1 has a friend over so kids are taken care of (am assuming Mikey is OK, haven't heard a peep out of him for the last hour, not unusual!)

LBOT, glad your MW appt. went so well, kind of restores your faith when you get the nice one!

Glask, hope you've managed to calm down by now, and sorted it with DH. Enjoy swimming

Moosy, he was very lucky! Could have turned out so differently.... He got a ride in a helecoptor I'd get myself caught up in a sticky situation to be recused by of them!

What's for dinner?

Kayzr · 26/06/2009 16:31

Takeaway Nat!!!! DH is at work until 8pm so I just can't be arsed!!! Lazy? Moi?

NatalieJane · 26/06/2009 16:40

Sorry Kay, x posted, DS2 cured my bordom with a tantrum half way through me typing!

I think it is sad that he's died, sad for his kids, his family, his friends, and his fans, but at the same time, well, if anyone else had have done the things that he did to all those children... well, imagine the day Gary Glitter dies. I loved his music as I was growing up, nearly every song takes me straight back to something or other that happened then, it's sad that he won't be doing that again, but I won't be losing any sleep over him dying

NatalieJane · 26/06/2009 16:43

We had chinese last night.

Don't know about anyone else, but I don't feel like eating anything hot when it's so warm, and I certainly don't feel like cooking anything when it's hot, but we've ran out of cold food ideas, have eaten enough salad over the last few weeks to last a rabbit a life time.

Kayzr · 26/06/2009 16:47

I feel like that too. But we've had loads of salad too. Lavender the rabbit doesn't mind though!!

Moosy · 26/06/2009 16:58

I agree Nat, I heard it on the news this morning and said 'oh!' and that's about as much emotion as I can muster

Yes it could have gone horribly wrong for DB, he said that the person on the shore who heard him shout and saw him wave wouldn't have seen/heard him if he'd waited any longer before trying to get help. He got swept away by the current and tried to swim sideways to get out of it, but even when he was swimming flat out he was only just staying still. He was lucky, but is ever so embarrassed that he had to be rescued!

I don't know what we're having for tea as we're going out to one of DH's customer's so I'll have to wait and see. I really don't feel like it though, I got woken up 3 times last night. Firstly by a huge thunder storm directly overhead (I jumped out of my sleeping skin!), then by DD2 as she'd lost Jraffy, then by DD2 as she said she needed a wee on the potty!

GruffaloSoldier · 26/06/2009 20:30

Hi all

Had a lovely bday yest - thanks for all the messages

Went on a picnic with the NCT ladies and then my sister and her husband came down from London and treated me to a curry. DH surprised me and came home early from work Got lots of money to spend - going to buy a wii and wii fit and guitar hero wanted one for xmas but didnt get it so all the talk on here spurred me on!

LOL at bro Moosy - thank goodness hes ok! My DH is a keen unicyclist! A couple of years ago he unicycled down snowdon - he also competes in road races (he came 1st last year ) in the last 2 weeks he has done a unicycle marathon and competed in a 24 hour race called 'mountain mayhem' which is off road with 1400 ft climb, 9 miles laps. He also has 5 unicycles the biggest being a 36 inch wheel. It sounds like your DB and he are two of a kind

RE MJ its a shock when anyone that big dies but echo what Nat and Moosy say. Oh well. People die every day that are much more deserving of my sympathy. However I can understand if youre a big fan that it would be upsetting. Especially if you were about to see them in concert - thats a bummer Jules! Hope your Dad can get a refund!

So has anyone got anything nice planned for the weekend?

Diege · 26/06/2009 21:28

Evening! I seem to manage a post first thing these days, then the day just disapears!
Glad you had a good birthday GRUFF Sounds like you had a very full day and wii plans are very exciting.
MOOS, at your brother!!! It does sound like he and Gruff's dh are very similar what with having such an unusual hobby (full admiration at cycling down Snowdon!!!).
GLASK, hope your dh is eating humble pie by now (and your's last week LBOX!!).
Hi NAt! Wow, does sound like you have everything sorted there for move, how exciting!
Heading up for bed soon, though will have to stay awake really for 11pm feed. Dh out tonight so had to sort out the 4 of them for tea and bed etc for first time. Feel a bit at really screamed at dd2 who was being a total PITA, but still I should be able to hold it together. Must do better tomorrow!!!
Right, night all, and hope we all have good ones tonight!

Kayzr · 27/06/2009 06:45

Morning,

DS2 woke up just the once tonight. Both boys have got colds so we think that is what is wrong with him.

Hope you are all ok.
