That does sound like quite a drop in weight Jules. What did the paediatrician say about Dd1 when she was referred?

What's he done now Bumpy?! Send him round to me I'll break him have a word. Did you enjoy the Febbers meet up?

STT glad you had a good trip to see Nat

dd2 slept from 8-5 again, fed, then back to sleep until 8am, think we are finally getting somewhere with this no-cry-sleep-solution.

sorky · 25/06/2009 14:04

Thinking about it Jules I think I would write and complain about your HV as she is giving you crap advice.
She's advised early weaning when all the guidlines she should follow states that the gut doesn't seal itself until 6 months. She has advised changing the milk from Aptamil1 to 2 which if anything will cause Bracken to lose more weight as level 2 milk isn't any better than 1 it just sits in the tummy for longer and Aptamil 3 is for over 6 months.

She's crap Jules, is there no other HV you can request?

julesisindahouse · 25/06/2009 15:26

hi sorky

dd1 dropped from 25th centile to 2nd centile. paedatrician just said that we as parents are small and that was it.
hv advised same for atlanta starting 2nd aptimal and weaning @ 4 months.
when i go to get her weighed there are only 2 on duty, i usually see a better one the one i did see is crap.

sorky · 25/06/2009 16:16

Hopefully she's just following a similar pattern Jules

Kayzr · 25/06/2009 17:07

STT, I meant they've been discharged from the SCBU nurses. I've just got back from gp and he also thinks its normal tiredness but i'm having blood tests for anaemia, overactive thyroid and diabetes. Bit worried now. I'm using my phone so might have wierd spaces.

julesisindahouse · 25/06/2009 18:46

kay - glad u had tests sure it will be ok

bumpsnowjustplump · 25/06/2009 19:27

Sorky it was ds screaching not dp (for once).. He would not be put down today not even for a second without screaming the house down.. However he is now asleep (early I know) and all is right with the world again....

Kay lets hope it is just normal tiredness as they say!

Hi to everyone else its been really quiet on here today...

SesHasFinallyBecomeAMum · 26/06/2009 04:57

DS woke me 20 mins ago with a really screaming cry. I'm worried I started to roll on top of him. Something was really upsetting him. It wasn't his nappy or wind and it was a more distressed cry than either of those. I feel awful as I can't think of another explanation.
I've calmed him down and we're lying down feeding again now. He just won't sleep that far away from me. I want DH to try taking one side off his cot and moving that next to my side of the bed. It will involve moving a wardrobe too. Don't know if I'll be able to get back to sleep now...

SesHasFinallyBecomeAMum · 26/06/2009 05:11

Well he just did it again but the scream didn't last quite so long. He's done 2 little burps so I'm sort of hoping it was bad wind and not me rolling. Not totally sure though and will still ask DH to move cot and wardrobe at the weekend.
Sorry but I was really panicked there.

Kayzr · 26/06/2009 07:23

Morning,

Terrible news about Michael Jackson. I really love his music so quite a sad day for me.

Bump, TBH I hope there is something wrong with me. If it is just normal tiredness then I will probably feel like this until my DCs have left home.

Ses, those screams are terrible aren't they. DS2 once cried so much he actually stopped breathing. It was terrifying!!

I'm meant to be going to playgroup with my next door neighbour but I'm going to have to give it a miss. DS2 had us up all bloody night for no reason. He refused a bottle, we changed him a few times. We think he might be teething.

Hope everyone is ok.

glaskham · 26/06/2009 08:13

just seen about MJ too... very sad news!!

Sparklytwinkletoes · 26/06/2009 08:16

Morning guys, sorry you've both had rough nights - got this all to come haven't I!

Ses, I'm sure it was more likely to have been wind than you rolling on him, its really unusual unless the parent has been drinking or takes drugs - nature takes over and prevents you from lying on them. Do you know you can get little 'inserts' for them to sleep in bed with you or you could even make one with a towel? Like this

Kayz - is DS2 old enough for some calpol if it happens again, poor little soul...

Kayzr · 26/06/2009 08:30

Yes he is STT. I thought of that when we got up this morning. But not at 1,2,3,4!!

How are you doing?

Sparklytwinkletoes · 26/06/2009 08:39

I'm good - really busy trying to sort out the house, slow going with a hoarding husband and both DH and DS undo the tidying I do during the day!

I keep finding yucky patches, like strips of skirting board, thick with dust and just seem to have no time to do it all!

I've got quite a lot to do today before some friends arrive for the weekend - I need to vacuum all upstairs and downstairs (the dog is moulting, more than usual, due to the heat), I also need to strip and change the bed in the spare room, now that I can actually see it . I've also got an awful lot of dusting to do in there!

I've convinced DH to chuck out some of his crap so I've got a hall full of bags and boxes that I'm going to see if a local charity shop would like to take.

I've just had a box delivered from Miele, to arrange for my Meile vacuum to go for repair - wish I'd sorted it months ago, the cheapy replacement I have is bloody crap by comparison but all I've got for now.

DS' hours at nursery are being cut from next Weds - he'll just be doing Weds - Fri, with me picking him up at 2 so I'd like to get as much done today, Monday and Tuesday as possible.

In reality, it feels like I'm trying to put the house back into the state it was in when I finished my maternity leave last time round, and since I've been back at work, its just descended horribly, nows my chance to get it all nice again ready for the new baby.

We haven't even started on stripping out the double room to decorate for DS yet either.

Ho hum.

Christ, whoops, rambled....best go dive in the shower if I'm going to get anything done!!!

Kayzr · 26/06/2009 08:46

Gosh that does sound like a lot. We're thinking of hiring a skip soon and just chucking everything that we don't want and that is no good for a charity shop.

Sparklytwinkletoes · 26/06/2009 08:51

Oh, I dream of skip hire.... !

Actually, I really did dream about cleaning last night - I was scrubbing a kitchen with jif cream

glaskham · 26/06/2009 09:03

sorry- can't stop- lots to do...

Have a leak in our emersion heater upstairs, which caused a massive leak into the dining room yesterday... its only dripping now, but the ceiling has crumbled from all the water yesterday, and we obviously need something fixed/replaced... then to re-plaster the dining room ceiling and walls from the water damage... the plumber is coming between 12 and 1pm... hoping its just a small job as if its too much we wont be able to save enough between now and our holiday for spends.... so we may have to cancel our holiday instead.... fingers crossed it doesn't come to that!!

We were discharged from the SCBU nurses yesterday- as Kayz said- DD2 now weighs a massive 9lb 4.5oz!! she'd put on 1lb 3oz in the last 2 weeks- little porker!!

DH is off today so if the plumber comes on time we're hoping we can get to take the DC's swimming this afternoon.... give us some peace and relaxation (of sorts) away from the stress of the house!!

Kayzr · 26/06/2009 09:07

Blooming hell Glask, Hope it all gets sorted out soon.

I might take the boys swimming tomorrow morning. Bit unsure about taking them both on my own though.

Diege · 26/06/2009 09:11

Morning! LOL at skip-hire dreams STT, but can understand as have fond memories of the one on our drive when kitchen was being done
KAYZ, just a thought but have you been tested for for intolerances? A friend who I saw yesterday had the same symptoms as you and (after testing positive for certain intolerances and eliminating some foods) has been transformed. Would usually be quite cyninical myself about it all, but she is a changed woman! Also, if you're a bit run-dwon anyway things that you might have been able to tolerate usually can effect you, so they say, and often it's when you have a new baby/move house etc etc that allergies can manifest themselves.
All fine here. Supervisor of midwives rang to rearrange yesterday as she couldn;t make appoint and is coming on Monday instead Was good to see doula again, and she had some photos she's taken when Jacob was brought in to see dh while I was still in theatre. Really brought a lump to my throat as he was covered in vernix and the first time I saw him had been dressed etc. Really good to fill in a few gaps, as it will be to go through notes on Monday. Want to get a copy of them - wonder if I'll have to pay??
Sister over this morning so better get place straight. OK night last night - J waking once for feeds at moment about 3ish, so really can't complain there!
Hope everyone is well - anyone else watching Wimbledon?? Has anyone seen Murray actually smile yet???

Diege · 26/06/2009 09:13

Bloody hell Glask!! . Hope it's not worst case scenario - what rubbish timing.
Great news about Ruby though

Kayzr · 26/06/2009 09:17

My lovely neighbour has taken DS1 to playgroup!!! YAY!!!! Peace and quiet!!

juleshaslostheridol · 26/06/2009 09:31

i am devestated have lost my idol was so excited about seeing him in august i am still in shock so upset
r.i.p michael i luv u

Kayzr · 26/06/2009 09:33

Jules, you poor thing. I had completely forgotten that you were going to see him.

SesHasFinallyBecomeAMum · 26/06/2009 09:48

I'm still not commpletely sure what happened at 4am but we're fine now. It could have been wind and I hope it was. It was just such a sudden, strong piercing scream.

Jules - whatever anyone may think about the controversy around MJ, I don't think anyone can deny he started off in a v mixed up family and wasn't given a sound start in life from his dad. Also his music will stand the test of time and I'm sure ultimately that's whatt he'll be remembered for.

Glaskham - that's great news on Ruby's discharge and weight gain Well done!!
Hope the leak isn't as bad as you fear.

Diege - how frustrating your appointment was postponed!
I'm watching Wimbledon - loving it and filling in my grid of results

Kay - yay for neighbour!
