I hope I've done this right - here is the new thread...and hopefully the last in ante-natal

Naat - Hope that is your waters!

Congratulations to MrsMJnr - How wonderful to be born at home delivered by grandparents! What a fab story! And nice and quick I see too which helps eh?

Congratulations to help too!! More great news! More gorgeous babies! Sounds like you also had a wonderful birth experience (and at Jurassic Park no less!) which is fab.

Can't wait to hear more about our two new girls!

llynnn - Poor you eight days over!! You're a trooper! I hope it happens for you very soon, tonight!

Good luck to everyone else and I hope all the new mummies (or old mummies with new babies) are coping well!

Alexander has actually gained weight (3oz) so the huge breasts plus constant feeding is obviously having some impact...

LittleSarah · 10/06/2009 21:53

Effie - Cross-posted! Glad to hear wee Rupert is doing well, I really hope you get the chance to breastfeed soon, I can only imagine how uncomfortable that is!!

You are a very strong lady.

lauraloo09 · 10/06/2009 22:17

congratulations help and mrsmcjnr* and again what lovely name combinations! Can't wait to see photos

effie so glad to hear rupert is doing better x

naat any news from birthing centre? I hope it was your waters going

llynnn poor you being 8 days over heres hoping something happens very soon for you x

Here's hoping there will be more june babies arriving soon

Well today with mum was good, but felt so bad when i took her home as my dad had been drinking and i hate leaving her on her own like that! I have been having on and off cramps again all day but nothing serious

Mrsmc What excellent news :D:D Congratulations! Gosh you had to deliver the baby with dh, can't wait to hear the story when you come back. Wicked name choice!

Thanks questions for pointing the post out! Hope your pg has been good so far and you're not getting too imptatient.

help Congrats!! Yours sounds like a really nice birth story, we need some of them! Really lovely name too.

naat Is it leaking too much to not have a pad?

I spent the afternoon sleeping. (Feeling a bit pathetic about that but it must have been needed as I'm sill tired and going to bed before midnight.)

I think Tee is having the section tomorrow, she went in today to stay overnight.

louise what a bitch an inconsiderate mw, they're supposed to be nice and supportive aren't they?
Sorry the bfm (=babyfathermother ;) is so inconsiderate. I've given up on my mil, not one phone call or a text since she knows I'm pregnant. Her one gesture: she gave me a pg book which she apparently nicked from a pub (I mean...wtf?)

Anyway, been reading "the horse whisperer" and I hope looking after a newborn all turns out as easy as she makes it sound ;)

Night night everybody, let's get some babies out!

silkcushion · 10/06/2009 22:26

congratulations MrsM and hello to Aaliyah Rosemary - what a cheeky little girl making such a dramtic entrance

Good day for babies.

Tomorrow it's the turn of Tee. Nemo and Llynn thinking of you two (last day tomorrow before induction Friday I think) hope something happens overnight but if not then definitely by the weekend

effie good news re Rupert

June2009 · 10/06/2009 22:34

laura sorry xposted, it's a really sad situation for your mum, I feel really sorry for you . Mil started drinking heavily since this divorce started and it's just awful. You just don't know what to do or where to turn without exacerbating the problem. She doesn't think she has a problem so won't get any help.
If you are worried about her you could maybe try and post on another thread, some people may have been in the same position and have some practical advice?

lauraloo09 · 10/06/2009 22:42

june thank you. with the depression mum had last yr she still sees a psychiatrist which helps her a lot just wish i could do more for her but i'm sure in her own time she'll decide to do whats best for her

Down under check in, no baby here yet, although slightly less emotional after MW did a sweep last night and I was 2cm dilated! It's a start!

Have had a small show this morning too! . Now just the pressure of trying to have bubs before monday when all my MW group practice go away for a conference for 4 days!

Mrsmac what fantastic news- excellent way of avoiding all unnecessary monitoring at the hospital . You must be so proud of yourself, really delighted for you

helpive Congrats on Polly's safe arrival. So glad you had a brilliant experience at the birth centre.

Effie wonderful to hear Rupert is doing so well. Of course he will know his mummy- he has been listening to you for months. Hope you get the breatfeed v v soon.

bigcar, ineed, littlesarah, doris hope you are all doing well with your little ones. I think the rest of us are doing our best to hurry up so we can start a post natal thread!

daisy and laura glad to hear you are both feeling a better. laura sorry that your mum is having a difficult time

loouise at the 'thank god she is not' your MIL. Honestly!

tee Hopefully you are settled into hospital and sending safe baby arrival wishes

lynn Hope something happens soon for you and makes all the practice ctx worth it!

bunny hope you had a good curry. I am also working my way through SATC. Up to season 4!

silk any of those chocolate chip biccies left? Have made another cake so might go and munch on that!

june glad you got a rest in and hopefully you got to bed early

Choccie sending sleep vibes to you too. Good luck sorting the UK trip

ermin How you doing? Thanks for the tips, bubs has been posterior for weeks so I have done wonders for my bum muscles going up and down the stairs sideways!! At least we have got out of our transverse lie and are back to being posterior! At 38+4 no hope of a postion change except during labour. Bring on the labour, I am sooooo inpatient to birth this little one

dreamy hope you had a nice walk. I just had a lovely wander home from the hospital this morning. Only 7 degrees in Sydney this morning and I have sent all my warmth stuff back to the UK! Silly girl!

naat hope that is your waters!!

Hi rose, questions2008 and everyone else.

Naat · 11/06/2009 07:20

Morning ladies!!

Well, no more trickling after I posted, so those weren't my waters. I had two spots during the day so I thought they might be, but no. Everything quiet here, just the usual cramps, ctx but no baby tomorrow is my due date and feeling a little low now as I want baby to come and I can't believe early labour is taking soooooooo long! Then I feel guilty for feeling like this so it's a vicious circle

Right, let's catch up.

Silk, busy bee yesterday! Cookies! Yum! My mum baked a cake yesterday she loves baking and DH doesn't complain at all!

Daisy, hi!!

Bunny, how was the curry?

Hi Llynn, Ineed, Ermin, Choccie!!

Effie, so glad you might be able to BF soon!!! xxx

LittleS, glad Alex is doing great and that BF is going well

Laura, for your mum, honey. Hope her psychiatrist can help, as you say, and that she's able to take the right decisions in the future. xxx

June, hope you got a nice rest and are feeling better.

Snow, hope the sweep gets things kicking!!

Tee, thinking of you!!!

Hello to everyone else!!

Blue, thinking of you! Hope to hear from you soon!!

Have a lovely day, ladies!!

(((Waves)))

silkcushion · 11/06/2009 07:37

morning all - checking in - have had neither a baby or any sleep overnight [exhausted emoticon]

bunnymother · 11/06/2009 08:06

Morning ladies!

You know the drill - no baby and no real symptoms. Am now 6 days overdue - where is my baby?? However, have my prolonged pregnancy appointment tomorrow, so will see what they say there - any takers on a bet that its "oooh, what a healthy little one, no need to induce - she will arrive when she is ready"?

Tried shopping walking till v tired yesterday, inc to meet DH for dinner (no curry, ladies - Indian restaurant looked a bit formal and there was a more relaxed pub nearby) and was eating dried pineapple. No baby. Today's approach - watch more SATC!

Ermin - loved your deforestation description! I need to do some logging, too...

Naat - you poor blossom, hopefully your LO will arrive soon, esp since they are sending you all these signals that they might be ready!

Effie - delighted to hear you were holding your little darling Rupert - wonderful!

LittleSarah - great to hear that Alexander is putting on so much weight - hopefully he will have those chubby little wrists and dimpled hands soon - I swoon over those!

Lynn - am thinking of you and hoping your LO is getting ready to emerge!

Laura - feel for you w your mum's situation, but sounds like you are nicely philosophical about it ie she is getting help and has your support so hopeful that she will make the right decision for her. Think that's all you can do - make sure they are getting help and just support them. That professional help is vital.

Looouise - imagine you are gritting your teeth re babyfather's mother, what a "delightful" way she has!

June - your MIL sounds like an absolute nightmare - I remember your posts about how she would try and drag your DH into the prize fight that is her divorce .

I have to say, my MIL is a dream - v sweet and loving and minds her own business. Prob so grateful a grandchild is finally on the way! . But I will never forget how my grandma (who I really loved) terrorised my poor mother - she was the MIL from hell. Problem was, my dad never told her to pull her head in. So she didn't. God, no one upsets like family, do they?!

Silk - hopefully you can rest up today! Poor thing not sleeping last night!

Oh, and I hope we hear from Tee soon re her little one!

Hello to all you other lovely Juners and wishing us all great days and good labour vibes!! Yesterday was so exciting w 2 births, hopefully we get another couple today! ((waves))

snowwombat · 11/06/2009 08:58

Hi girls, checking in after my Drs appt. Booked for an induction Saturday as I have cholestasis.

Very very happy to know the baby coming soon but just a bit sad that i can't have my lovely midwife led water birth with no monitoring.

MW going to do another sweep tomorrow and see if we can get things moving sooner. Fingers crossed.

So sorry for everyone overdue, feel bad I am sneaking in a week early.

Will keep you posted. Sending baby arrival vibes. Hope there will be some arrival news today

daisy5 · 11/06/2009 09:41

A little bit of light humour to start the day?

PREGNANCY Q & A

Q: Should I have a baby after 35?
A: No, 35 children is enough?!!!!?

Q : I'm two months pregnant now. When will my baby move?
A: With any luck, right after he finishes college.

Q : What is the most reliable method to determine a baby's sex?
A: Childbirth.

Q : Is there any reason I have to be in the delivery room while my wife is in labour?
A: Not unless the word 'alimony' means anything to you.

Q: Is there anything I should avoid while recovering from childbirth?
A: Yes, pregnancy.

Q : Do I have to have a baby shower?
A: Not if you change the baby's nappy very quickly.

I'm off to the hospital appointment today as by their dates am 7 days over (I say 4 days - so it may be an interesting discussion, although with dh working Mon, Tues & Wed next week maybe I should just keep quiet), I imagine for another sweep and possibly scheduling an induction for next week. Ho hum .

Hello to you all naat - may it all be over soon-ish, snowwombat - sorry to hear you are being induced but nice to now they picked up on it quickly, erm - more cramps today? laura - has your dad stopped drinking in the past or is has it been an ongoing problem? lynn & bunny - we are all over our dates now and playing the waiting game, do your neighbours look at you with that look of suspended animation? naat & bunny - I hope you don't mind but made a note of your mobile numbers in case something exciting happens with me choccie - hope the ds's are not playing up today june - the second hand pregnancy book from MIL is quite a grim present. At least your expectations of her aren't too high . Is dh quite understanding? tee - today must be your day.

louise, dreamy insy, silk, bigcar, littlesarah mrsmc helpive Ineed - Top of the morning to you ladies.

re-induction - Oh, just a quickie, has anyone there already had an induction and can tell me what it was like. Just in the remote chance that when I go into the hospital today (at 2pm) I am offered an induction for tomorrow, especially in light of dh's work commitments next week (which could make tomorrow really ideal), what are the real concerns with induction. I've read the bit in 'What to Expect' but the only person I know who was induced didn't have the best experience, although it sounds as if for plenty of people it is perfectly fine. Prostroglandin brings on the contractions, often within 2 hours and kicks off labour naturally. I read that it can make labour a bit stronger and therefore monitoring is important, but don't really know much else. I guess the big issue is if my dates are accurate and I am only 5 days over tomorrow, should I really be considering induction? Thanks.

See ya
daisy

lauraloo09 · 11/06/2009 09:57

morning juners - just checking in and no overnight baby

daisy good luck with your mw appointment, here's hoping they can get you in for an induction before your DH goes away next week x

naat sorry to hear it wasn't your waters yesterday but surely you can't be far away from 'popping'

snow sorry to hear you can't have the water birth you wanted, but at least the docs got you in for an induction pretty soon x

Big hellos to the rest of the lovely juners - and hopefully wont be too long until we hear tee's announcement

Today I am going to go for a long walk again and try and bring this baby out, been having normal twinges and cramps but as usual nothing major. Got midwife appointment tomorrow and after another night of not sleeping due to 'visitors' hopefully they might be able to suggest more things to get rid of them - absolutely dreading labour now due to the piles

OP posts:
chocciedooby · 11/06/2009 10:11

Hi everyone

Just checking in. Slept well last night (only 2 trips to the loo).

Have back ache today and belly has dropped again. A few people have already commented on how I have started to waddle differently.

Going to go have a shower now and a rest as MIL collecting kids from school today so a nice easy day for me

ermintrude13 · 11/06/2009 10:13

Morning all!

Effie, so glad Rupert is doing well. And don't worry, you'll still be the only person who smells, sounds and feels like where he wants to be - especially with full bozooms

LittleS you're obviously doing a grand job with that feeding. I'm so looking fwd to the first few days with this baba when all I'll be doing is sitting there mooing contentedly.

lauraloo I am sorry things are so tough for your mum. But I bet she really appreciates having you around and will love being a grandma.

June Are you having a foal?

Snow my sister's 2nd DD was posterior and was born that way - 'to pubes' as they call it, or 'stargazing' as she preferred . She had had backache throughout the latter weeks/months but used the birthing ball a lot during the labour and had a pretty quick natural birth that she actually found easier than first time round when her baby was in textbook perfect position. I've heard of women instinctively gyrating their hips during labour in response to the baby turning anterior - like hundoing a jar with a screw thread. Could be interesting .

Naat try not to get too low - you're only just at due date and first ones are often a bit late - although 'late' only means according to some average maths calculation which doesn't apply to us as individuals. Conserving energy is the important thing - it'll all kick off soon enough and the better rested you are the stronger you'll be easier said than done with these uncomfortable nights, I know). Chin up! .

bunny and lynnn I know how you feel; DS was 10 days late and I was extremely keen for him to come out. Hope you get something happening very soon.

Daisy lol @ jokes, good to hear you sounding so upbeat. I've never had an induction and personally would only do it if there were no other option - in fact I'd push the 2 wks overdue a bit further if I could (I know women who deliberately put their LMP a week later to give themselves til 43 wks). I think they work best when your body is as ready as it can be whereas if they're enforced it's much harder to get things going and makes things like forceps more likely.

But I'm sure there are people with induction experience who can give you more detail. Hope the appt goes well and that you find out what you need to know.

Hi silk, dreamy and all you new mums and expectant ladies I haven't mentioned.

Naat · 11/06/2009 10:15

Ladies!
I'm a slightly happier heavily pg woman now: I have internet!!!

Daisy, of course I don't mind! Store it just in case Let us know how the appt goes, fingers crossed for you!

Laura, sorry you had a crappy night! HOpefully MW will offer some advice or help re "visitors". If not, naaaaaaaaaaaaaaag

Snow, so sorry to hear you won't get the water birth you wanted, but glad to hear you'll have LO in your arms soon!!!

(((waves)))

Naat · 11/06/2009 10:20

xpost!

choccie, yay!!! hope you have a restful day!!

ermin, thank you for your kind words I'm actually sleeping a lot during the day, makes the hours go by faster

daisy5 · 11/06/2009 10:23

I completely understand what you are saying erm - my big concern is becoming what if I give birth while dp is away and can't be with me. I don't want to 'mess' with my body, but on the other hand am extremely uncomfortable with the idea of doing it alone. Difficult isn't it! Anyway, I might not even be offered the choice, I just wanted to take a view on it in case.

ermintrude13 · 11/06/2009 10:31

daisy I really do see the dilemma. It's such a bind that your DH can't drop everything and rush back at the first sign of labour . Although we ended up with v limited paternity leave with DS, at least DH was there for the birth itself and it would have altered my thinking if it seemed likely he wouldn't be able to make it. Can't remember if you've tried a sweep yet but they might suggest that - and it worked for me at 9 days late, but of course there's never any guarantee.

Choccie enjoy a day of R&R. DS is going to a friend's house for tea so I don't even need to waddle to school for him, hurray!

loooouise · 11/06/2009 11:12

Congratulations Help and MrsMcJnr!! Both fantastic birth stories and excellent name choices.
Welcome little Polly and Aaliyah.
MrsMcJnr - surely there's script fodder in your tale!

Dashing off for reflexology; I've heard good things re labour stimulation. Will let you know June, Daisy, Bunny, Lynn and Naat if it's a reliable way of getting things moving! (I shouldn't complain, not due til Sunday, but I want to meet and hold baby now now now)

silkcushion · 11/06/2009 11:12

I just whacked my bump

Pulled the car boot down and hit myself quite hard with the edge of it! Have a bruise already - what a dickhead I am!

Hope you lot are ok

dreamydowler · 11/06/2009 11:35

morning everyone. Still nothing here apart from a sore ear Been to the doctor this morning for some ear drops as apparently both ears are totally bunged up. Anyway have done lots of walking around town again this morning in the hope of getting this baby moving down. I was induced two weeks late with my last baby It wasnt too bad as I tend to go very quickly once things get going anyway just make sure you keep as upright and active as possible or if you have to be attatched to monitors ask if you can sit on a birthing ball at the side of the bed

June2009 · 11/06/2009 11:43

Just checking in quickly to say there's still no baby here for us. I had a fairly good night sleep apart from trips to the loo.
I still feel like I could sleep for a couple more hours.
(tmi for am ->) I think my plug may have started to come off slowly, there was some slight discharge yesterday which I would have described as "elephant sneeze", albeit more on the "mouse" size than elephant (really small in fact, may be clutching at straws...or late pregnancy is making me delusional/paranoid), it happened a couple of times but then nothing.
Either that or it's just "regular" discharge.
40+4 today and all of a sudden sunday's sweep seems really soon.
My boobs have definitely gone up a size in the past couple of weeks.

I'll try and catch up on your posts later!

DorisIsAPinkDragon · 11/06/2009 12:19

Hi all, just checking in to see if there any more babies

Daisy- one word of caution with waiting for a "natural" start. dsis lives in Scotland and they left her till 40+14 (she was hoping for a homebirth) on the day she was due to be induced she did start spontaneously but when she delivered her placenta it was most grey with one tiny bit of healthly red stuff to support the baby (the mw said that it was the placenta of a heavy smoker!!!). So although an induction is not great, it may still be positive. Good luck with your decision whatever you go for!

Effie- so pleased Rupert is doing well, the picture of your first cuddle brought tears to my eyes.

Naat- lovely to have you back

Help and MrsMc- Forgot to say huge congratulations to you both yesterday, Mrsmc will be in for a few days I would imagine because of her GBS?? enjoy your LO's

LittleS - well done with Alexanders weight gain!!!!

Silk - ouch!!! do you have any arnica to help with the bruising ? and no doubt you'll be keeping an eye out for LO's movements (at least s/he should be head down at this stage)

I am struggling to keep up with you all atm- but you are making me feel much better for being soooo miserable in my last few weeks of pregnancy (I'm obvioulsy not alone )Just a little bit of postivity for you all, Annabelle is now 5 days old and in terms of my body being my own again it feels like 5 months since I was pregnant ( ok not the boobs but thats a whole other story) it is such a wonderfully light feeling moving around and not feeling like a ten tonne truck! (I know that doesn't necessarily help today but you too will feel like this in the VERY NEAR future )

Well not been on properely for a couple of days as Annabelle chose to stay awake for 2 nights in a row non stop feeding however my milk has now come in (ouch!!!!!) and last night she woke twice which was great. It also gives my poor poor boobs a bit of a rest!!! Will try and post a picture on my page later if I get the chance.

right that's all i can think of for a mo

have a lovely day juners
