Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Nemoandthefishes · 07/06/2009 05:55

aww Ineed I can totally understand. We have been told we are having dd3 but semi hope they are wrong dont get me wrong of course main thing is happy and healthy baby but feel sorry for poor ds being over run by all these girlies...even the dog is a girl..pmsl
hope you manage to get some good rest later and yes milk coming in is always very very emotional

Ineedmorechocolatenow · 07/06/2009 06:01

Thanks Nemo. How long does the engorgment usually last? It's not too painful and can keep it under control at the mo.....

Nemoandthefishes · 07/06/2009 06:16

If I remember rightly I had it really bad for about 2 days then it eases off. I always found wearing a bra and a smaller size crop top over helped as less movement for the pain

Tee2072 · 07/06/2009 09:09

Good morning Juners!

Well, up from 1 - 3 with a combination of heartburn and tiny little cramps. Am I silly to wonder if LO will arrive before CS date of Thursday? I guess its possible!

Everyone enjoy their day and I look forward to hearing about more babies!

dreamydowler · 07/06/2009 09:34

Morning ladies Had a fantastic birthday celebration for my daughter and nephews 18ths last night went very well. I brought the younger children home at around 10 30 but poor dp didnt get in until 1 30 this morning and there is still clearing up to be done this morning too. Ive also been tossing and turning a lot in the night lately and am also hoping not to go 2 weeks over like last time. Congratulations to Dorris and family cant wait to hear all the details Hope everyone has a good and restful day today. My dd age 6 has a birthday party this afternoon and they are all back to school tomorrow so a busy day as always for me.

bunnymother · 07/06/2009 09:43

Morning ladies!!

Dreamy - so glad you made it to your DDs birthday party and that it went really well! Hope you can take it a bit easier, despite your DD's friend's birthday party.

Ineed - great to hear your little girl is feeding well so soon! Hope you can't read this yet because you are happily in the land of Nod...

No news here - no baby and no new symptoms, but am hopeful being "unplugged" leads to something soon. In the meantime am going to be super lazy and sit around all day "conserving my energy" !

llynnnn · 07/06/2009 10:30

CONGRATULATIONS DOris on the birth of ANnabelle Rose! another beautiful name!

Still no signs here, i'm seeing the consultant tomorrow to discuss induction and have a sweep so hopefully something will come of that!

Dreamy - pleased your daughters birthday party went well and you made it through!

Ineed - good to hear from you. i remember the engorgement feeling, its not nice, not sure how long it lasts though, i was rubbish at bf last time! hope to do better when this little lady makes her appearance!

Hope everyone else is well, i will be back later hopefully!

MrsMcJnr · 07/06/2009 10:48

Hey ladies nothing happening here either? that said, today would not be a good day, I am exhausted, weirdo neighbours had some kind of party again, loud music, singing and stomping from 1am until 7am, asked them twice to be quiet and they were very nice about it but said ?just come back if it gets loud again? hum, no just don?t disturb us again that?s twice in 3 weeks they?ve done that next time I?m going to call the police (they are really strict here on things like that ) maybe they are into some kind of moon dance?..there were only 4 of them there and they are all in the 40s, very odd. Why didn?t they go to a club? Surely that would be more fun? Maybe they are swingers making sure that DS does lots of screeching near their bedroom window today as revenge

Nemo & Choccie ? I should have joined you online instead of lying in bed wide awake fuming!!

Ineedmore ? I remember the milk coming in well it was a tearful day hope you are more comfy today yesterday sounded like fun I can imagine exactly how you feel about the whole putting the blue clothes away thing, I cried when I found out I was having a girl at 16 weeks (although given your experience I am now trying to think up a boy?s name just in case?.) I was delighted too but I mourned the idea of 2 little boys and I guess a boy was what I knew so that made me want another? might still have another, who knows!!

How are things this morning Tee? Take it if you went into labour naturally that would be ok?

Dreamy ? yay! You are free to have the baby now having enjoyed the celebrations

Bunnymother ? like the sound of your day sending you labour vibes for tonight

Llynnnn ? I so hate the whole induction chat (and the idea of it) am hoping something happens before my next appointment on Tuesday although a little voice is telling me that if I was induced maybe it would be better from the Strep B perspective but then again it still doesn?t mean I?d have 8 hours to have the right amount of antibiotics and it could lead to a section and all sorts of other interventions? shall go and cut up more pineapple and brew more raspberry leaf tea . I hope the full moon or that failing; the sweep gets things moving for you

Hello to everyone else

LittleSarah · 07/06/2009 11:07

Morning ladies!

Here is birth story, bit long for a two hour labour but hopefully you won't mind!

Alexander?s birth story

Evening of Friday 5th June 2009

I did begin to wonder if things could happen tonight. The mucus plug had been coming away for a couple of days and when I went to the toilet ? which took a while! ? I did think I may have had a show. Still, couldn?t be sure what with the other stuff?

12.45am (Saturday 6th June 2009)

I woke up to the feeling of a mild contraction. Didn?t sound the labour alarm immediately as I thought it could be a false alarm but in the back of my mind I was sure this was it. Pretty much right after the contraction I felt my waters go; I jumped up and headed to the toilet feeling more waters trickling out on the way. After a couple more contractions in there I went back to bedroom to inform Mike that things had kicked off. I had a couple of more contractions on my hands and knees in bed and then we decided to get up, it was 1.15am, and contractions were already 3 minutes apart and strengthening quickly.

Then, a number of things happened. I asked Mike to do dishes and put away washing first of all. Couldn?t bear the idea of baby arriving amongst clutter! He also started to run a bath and made me a hot water bottle. We made up labour area in bedroom with plastic sheeting, old cushions and towel. I leaned over the table during these contractions which were strong but bearable (I also posted on mumsnet). The receptionist at triage said they would send a midwife out. (I was relieved at labour timing as I knew who was on call, having seen midwife in the morning, and knew both midwives were ones who could stitch which mean I definitely wouldn?t have to go into hospital post labour if I tore).

Midwife arrived about 1.45am and I was quite labour-hazy, often getting down on my hands and knees for contractions. Mike was great, rubbing my back and telling me I was doing wonderfully. About 2am I was examined; baby?s head very low, and I was about 6cm dilated. I wasn?t surprised to hear this as I felt things were moving fast, contractions very powerful now, every two minutes or so.

I got into labour area, on my knees, leaning the bed, getting in the bath seemed pointless as things moving so fast. (After the midwife mentioned she thought that might have ended up breaking the rhythm). Mike was in front of me on the bed and I held onto his hands hard as now things got really hard, contractions very very strong. I moaned my way through them this time; two main thoughts were I don?t know if I can do this and come on woman, you can do this!

I felt the need to bear down before I knew it was wasn?t sure whether to go with it, the midwife noticed however and said if I felt the need to push to just do it. On the next contraction I did just that, couple of big pushes and head was out! Heard midwife say that baby would be out with the next contraction and indeed he was, another big push and whoosh (it really felt like whoosh too I think because a lot of water came out too), he came out. It was 2.46am, just two hours since first contraction. I knew immediately he was a boy as midwife handed him up to me between my legs and I could feel testes with one hand!

After a lovely cuddle I gave the wee man to Mike (for some skin to skin) and I reassumed ?the position? for stage 3. Decided latterly to do this naturally after hearing many good stories about it. Went well. About another 15 minutes later after a couple of contractions the placenta was out and Alex was on the breast.

(Small tear on labia but no stitch needed!)

Midwife went to get the scales from the car and when she was gone it started to hail! In June! We three snuggled in together.

By 4.30am we were back in bed with clean sheets and I managed to sleep not a wink through excitement, adrenalin some fairly horrendous after pains!

The End!

Since then I have been ecstatic but exhausted! Wee man is feeding brilliantly but like ineed last night I barely slept he was up so much. Managed 2/3 hours from about 7-10 when dh got up with him.

CONGRATS to Doris on Annabelle Rose! So exciting!

And Naat, hope things are kicking off for you!

Sorry not to catch up more now, hello to you all and I hope too see more babies soon, especially from you poor overdue lasses!

Pics later I promise!

silkcushion · 07/06/2009 11:23

quick post to check in

Fab story LittleS - I'm feeling really inspired for my hb

chocciedooby · 07/06/2009 11:37

Littlesarah - that is a great birth story
So pleased for you that it all went so smoothly. Only as few pushes and he was out. And no stitches!!!!Lucky girl. Enjoy lots more snuggling and I hope you manage to get some rest.

Nemo - hope you are catching up on some much needed sleep. I returned upstairs to check on DS1 at 4.40am and he was still awake. I told him I would check again in ten mins but went to my bed and fell asleep. He woke at 8am

Been a lovely morning for me. DH got up again with the kids and gave them breakfast, dressed and washed them and has taken them to the park I caught up on some sleep, had my breakfast and shower and now feel normal again.

Ineed - I remember the engorgment. I also looked like Pammy with DS2. My boobs just didn't look like they belonged to me . I hope the pain goes away soon.

Mrsmc - You are sooooo patient with those pesky neighbours of yours. I would be furious having to listen to their parties when you are so close to having a baby and really in need of some rest. They are being very inconsiderate and tbh I would have to go and have a chat (or send dh) to ask them to keep things down as baby due any day and you are exhausted. You don't want to have to contact police etc but ....

Good Luck with the sweep tomorrow Lynnn. Dreamy - glad you enjoyed DDs party

Have there been any more babies yet? Naat where are you????

MrsMcJnr · 07/06/2009 12:27

Fabulous birth story Littlesarah I am so happy for you that it all went so well Interesting that you just knew it was about to kick off, I felt like that to some extent with DS. Like you I plan to re-assume my all fours over the bed position for stage 3 this time as I was on my back last time cuddling DS and it would have been easier if I?d let gravity help and if I'd been paying more attention to finishing the job

Choccie ? thanks for the empathy, we are going to have to say something to them, it is incredibly selfish, funnily enough they are still asleep, DH has some hammering to do so I have asked him to start that as soon as DS wakes from his nap

Hey Silkcushion

snowwombat · 07/06/2009 12:57

attending for roll call from the southern hemisphere .

38 wks today, bubs has dropped, occasional contractions but no real action yet.Sewing cot sheets tomorrow, maybe that will help .

Have started the curry and shag routine in the hope of encouraging things along .

Bubs moving from transverse to OP position but never OA and trying all sorts of positions to try and encourage a turn in the right direction! Anyone have any other ideas???

Congrats to littlesarah and doris, gorgeous names too!

Hope blueberry and effie and babies are doing ok?

Just back from a weekend away with DH and bunch of girl pals. Was such gorgeous winter weather that I went for a swim at the beach-water was warmer than the outside temp but felt great!

Off to bed, thinking of you all and hoping for more baby news in the morning.

June2009 · 07/06/2009 13:13

Due date: Today
And no labour signs.

Great story LittleS, dunno what my story will be like :S

MW appt this afternoon at 4 where hopefully they won't put pressure for sweeps/induction etc.

snow very @ "winter weather" and "swim at the beach-water" in the same sentence D

mrsmc Happy hammering!

Quick question: What happens to our notes after birth, do we keep them or do the mw keep them? I kinda want to keep a copy the blood tests results.

Tee2072 · 07/06/2009 13:29

june hospital keeps them. If you have another baby, they take them out for comparison. You are allowed a copy, I think (I think that's the law, actually) but they may charge you to make the copy. According to my MW, after a year they go into storage for, get this, 28 years! How's that for an arbitrary number?!?!

loooouise · 07/06/2009 14:07

LittleSarah, that's a glorious birth story, a real pleasure to read. Thank you for sharing it with us and congratulations again.

Ineed, your post made me a little tearful! Of course you feel you have to mourn 'Harry', yet feel delighted with darling Emily Rose. Sooooo cute to think of you both enjoying a doll's house. Hope the engorgement pain fades soon - hang on in there!

Very curious to hear what Naat's been up to all morning.....

silkcushion · 07/06/2009 14:07

hello all

June/Tee - iirc I think I brought my notes home from hospital and the first mw who visited read them all to know what happened and then took them away. I might be wrong though as I can barely remember my name.

MrsM - totally get the police involved. from what I know (parents have a place in Spain) the Spanish police are very quick to clamp down on anti social behaviour.

Choccie - glad yr dh got up with the kids and you had a relaxed start to the day after yr crappy night's sleep.

Hello to snow/bunny/dreamy/ineed/littleS/llynn/nemo and everyone else who's around and about today

Naat is suspiciously missing - hope it's exciting news.

I'm going to have this baby soon or we'll become bankrupt. I'm so task orientated I can't bare sitting around waiting for things to happen. Last week was car hunting/buying. (necessary as the car was a gonner) I've now gone and ordered new carpets for our bedroom and both the girls rooms (being fitted Friday when I'm 39 weeks - am I mad?)
Also have arranged for man to come and move a radiator for us and someone to quote on putting a gas fire in our lovely but empty fireplace in the lounge.

Is this extreme nesting? Or lazy girl nesting as I'm not actually doing any of the work?

Off for a nap now whilst dd has hers

silkcushion · 07/06/2009 14:09

x posts hello Looouise

loooouise · 07/06/2009 14:13

hey silk! Lol at baby or bankruptcy. I hear you sister. Off for a nap too x

June2009 · 07/06/2009 15:28

Well, it's been a productive sunday here, I was hoping for more of a relaxed feet up in the garden type of sunday by nevermind.
After tying up a few loose ends for work I've been busy putting my labour folder together for dh (who worryingly doesn't seem one bit interested in it whatsoever...)
I'm now off for my mw appointment, and just realised I haven't had lunch yet, didn't pee in the tube and I've just been to the loo. Last time I did that I got there and could not come up with the goods.
I'll check back later to see if there are any more babies :D

chocciedooby · 07/06/2009 15:50

Good Luck at the MWs today June

I love all this nesting stuff. It comes and goes with me though. I have just cleaned out the food cupboards in the kitchen which I haven't done in ages .

DH and I got a few things together that needed to go to the dump and thats all gone now . There were old moses basket and cot matresses (all replaced with nice new ones), old clothes for the clothes bank, books, broken garden pots, old broken sandpit lid etc etc. AARRHHH it feels so good to clear things out

Now I am looking for something else to do as I am having a "nesting" day. I am sure tomorrow I will be having a tired and sleepy day

Silk I think its great to get organised and get a few things done before baby arrives because all hell will break lose soon for some of us and then everything will go on the back burner .

Naat · 07/06/2009 16:27

Hi Lovely Juners!

Well, ctx yesterday from 6.15 until 11pm and apparently my little baby just has a knack for teasing her parents... After all that time, nothing! (oh, and we called the birth centre and they were at full capacity and closed, which didn´t help, I think, as I started sort of praying for LO not to come until they had space there

Aaaaanyway, I woke up at 3am, with complete insomnia and some odd contractions here and there and could finally go to bed at 5.30! Good Lord... This was the third false alarm... I feel like The boy who cried Wolf (Pedrito y el lobo) You won't believe me next time I say I'm having ctx

Let's try and catch up now.

Choccie and Nemo, I see I'm not the only one up at night Hope you manage to get nice naps today. Choccie, lovely what DH did today!

Silk, LOL at the bankruptcy alarm. I can completely understand, though. I've been eating my hands these days

June, hope you have a great MW appt and that things happens soon

snow, at the lovely weather Hope you had a full night's sleep, not like some of us

mrsmc, at your neighbours!! from 1 to 7!!! That-s just wrong wrong wrong. next time, call the police, do not hesitate!

Ineed, glad to hear things are OK there, hope you feel less engorged soon, I imagine it's quite unfomfy.

Bunny, hope the unplugging works for you better than for me Or quicker, actually

Llynn, good luck with the sweep tomorrow!! Hopefully things will come along quickly after that!!!

Dreamy, glad your DD had a lovely birthday yesterday and that your LO behaved

LittleS, what a lovley birth!!!! Oh how proud of you we all are!!! So happy for you!

Hi to everyone else who I've probably missed!

I'm at MCDonalds and my mum and DH are looking at me with a nice 'let's go' face now So I'd better go.

I promise to keep you posted, hopefully with better news!!!

Lots of waves!!!

ermintrude13 · 07/06/2009 18:04

Hi all

LittleSarah thank you for lovely birth story, hoping mine will follow the same sort of pattern. Do get ready for the point when the euphoria dips though - as mentioned by Ieed and others the milk coming in can make one a bit weepy and even worse (I scratched DH in the face when he tried to take screaming milk-mad 4-day old DD off me ). Have a lovely time nesting with your new family.

Ineed I think your feelings about the baby's sex show how 'what might have beens' always haunt us a little. Once you've imagined yourself in a certain situation and it turns out differently, some readjustment time is necessary. And the relationship between bro and sis is not the same as btwn same-sex siblings, even though 'one of each' is supposed to be some kind of standard aspiration. I've noticed that people are more surprised to find I'm having a 3rd LO 'despite' already having a boy and a girl than if I had 2 boys and wanted a girl, or vice-versa. There are lovely things about all combinations, and no such thing as perfection. I'm sure DS1 will dote on her as much as you do and be a super big brother

Dreamy glad you made it through the party - and another one this afternoon! After all that organisation I expect having a baby will give you the perfect excuse to take a well-deserved rest!

Knowing full well nothing is going to happen till at least due date (if I keep saying it it might not come true we drove the 1.5 hrs up the motorway to visit my parents for lunch today. Sis and BIL were there with their DC and BIL cooked the most perfect medium-rare sirloin for me so I'm a full and happy girl

Hope all you new mums get some sleep, and to hear about more bumps going pop in the night..

Tee2072 · 07/06/2009 18:16

littlesarah lovely birth story! I hope mine is as easy, even with the CS.

effie hope things are okay, haven't heard from you in a bit. Lots of hugs to you and Rupert.

Well, today if I lie down I get heartburn and if I sit up I get swollen feet. Really glad they are delivering me early!

Lets have lots more babies ladies!

Oh, and don't forget, tonight, 9pm, Apprentice finale!!

LittleSarah · 07/06/2009 18:25

Hey

Photos should be up!
