here we go...
Guess in the next one will be the one where we'll be waiting for the first kick! hooray it's the weekend! i haven't had any stretchy stomach feelings, maybe a quiet period pain rumble (!? is that what you mean?) well what a beautiful day i'm lying on sofa under a blanket, laptop on lap and sky baby channel on in background (i've just shed a few tears of happiness for a manchester mum who has just screamed her head off and given birth to a baby boy).

can't remember who asked - cads? re: measurement of c to r . i had one scan at 11+1 babe was 4.5 and another at 12+2 and it measured 6.0 cm.

have good sats jen

Evening girls, just popped on for a quick read & buger me that poor girl 5 babies at once, Busy cracked up at your 15 year old - something you need to tell us? I think perhaps your story should be in the papers instead!!!

Am about to be kicked off by impatient dh who wants to carry on with his game so can't messenger in the evening I'm afraid, as this is dh's lone pleasure in life these days so I'd better let him back on the pc - he's regretting the day he introduced me to mumsnet!!!

HK that thread is yuck and no I didn't look at any of the links. So did you look afterwards? I'm not telling!!!

Rodeo is there something you need to tell us about the dead fish obsession, I'm seriously beginning to wonder about you, next you'll be telling us your craving for tuna sandwiches

By the way the names are Sam or Andrew for a boy and possibly Isabella or Cerys for a girl but to be honest haven't got a clue.

Got to go dh is starting to huff, speak to you all tomorrow and lets all be grateful for small mercies that it's not any of us carrying 5 around it makes our worries about two look like a breeze Cads!!!

Sorry to gatecrash again, but thought i would update on the maternity allowance situation which Chacha was wondering about a while back. Haven't read the whole thread for a while, so apologies if I am repeating what has been said already.

I have found out that when I get my MATB1 form from the midwife (around 20ish weeks) then I take it to the HR department at work who will sign it saying that I am not entitled to Statutory Maternity Pay as I will not have been long enough in the job by the qualifying week. I then send my MATB1, SMP form and application for maternity allowance to the DSS (no earlier than week 26) and then they will pay me £106 per week (not liable for tax or NI) for 26 weeks starting when I stop working. My contract is likely to be extended to November meaning that I would officially leave the employment of the company during my maternity period, but this makes no odds whatsoever as the maternity allowance is paid directly to me and not through my employer. Even if you are unemployed at the qualifying week, you will still be eligible as long as you have worked for 13 weeks out of the last 60 (approx).

And £106 per week for 26 weeks is certainly better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick!

Hope this is of some help to you Chacha.

Besk- Yep did peek at mine. As I put in that thread, the first time it looked like the black hole of Calcutta! Ha ha ha. Soon snapped back into shap though. The second time it looked totally normal though? Very odd.

HellKat · 26/05/2005 07:40

*Beks. God my spelling gets worse

ChaCha · 26/05/2005 09:13

LOL @ Rodeo What is it with you and dead sea creatures? Dread to ask what's for tea at your house tonight!? (Walrus chops? Seal pie?) Oh, i feel sick!

Hi to everyone, hope all is well and good luck to Jenjam today - we're all thinking of you here.

HellKat · 26/05/2005 09:34

Good luck Jenjam!

Diddle · 26/05/2005 12:37

Diege · 26/05/2005 13:44

wow, I miss a day and there's so much to catch up on! Must get computer at home, rather than using it at work (they 'tolerate' sme personal use, but it's a grey area).
Beksmum: yes, slightly panicky about having a 4 yr old, to be 3 yr old, and newborn in Nov, but at least eldest starts school. At least I have the escape of work to go to! (a doddle compared to SAH!) Have proper bump now (well, slope), though when I sit down more like overhanging fat! Clothes problems serious now - I'm a real shopping addict, but there are only so many elasticated waisted peasant skirts I can buy!. Want some under the bump maternity jeans (not with panels) that don't reach my neck, so have asked DH for them (if they exist) for my birthday which is tommorrow (big 35!!)How sad!
Felt some bubbles of movement last few days - seem to be on track with our due date Beksmum!
Will be really thinking of you Jenjam for tommorrow.

JenJam · 26/05/2005 14:17

i feel dreadful, still no news, crap sleep, adrenaline rushing through my body, i'm shaking, i have butterflies, i feel sick, i have diahorreah type feelings in my gut, headache, heartache. dp and i shared a bath this morning before work, and just cried and cried and cried. i don't know what we will decide/do if it comes back positive.

ChaCha · 26/05/2005 14:25

Jenjam - how much longer do you have to wait? Are they phoning you the results at some point this afternoon? Hang on in there Jenjam!

Hellkat - Just read through that seriously scary thread on 'bits' after birth. How the hell do women manage it? Do your bits just kind of give way..oh my gosh, i think both DH and I will be unconscious throughout the birth if its a vaginal one! I did have a good laugh at some of the posts though. Oh..all this still to come!

JenJam · 26/05/2005 14:34

don't know they said yesterday that the lab would try to report back by end of day thurs

OP posts:
ChaCha · 26/05/2005 14:42

Fingers crossed Jenjam - could you call them if they haven't called by a certain time. I can appreciate the waiting is a nightmare.

Diddle · 26/05/2005 14:43

oh jemjam - you must be beside yourself. Thinking fo you, we're all here to talk if you need us

JenJam · 26/05/2005 14:46

james just called fetal medicine and the result is in, but he didn't want to know it until we get home to be together. will let you all know. thanks for your kindness. i hope it's all okay.

OP posts:
Diege · 26/05/2005 14:48

Oh Jenjam, I do feel for you. I know you can't really compare situations, but I did have the wait myself (ended up ringing the lab in the end!)and know how horrendous the waiting is.Not able to eat, constantly crying, wishing I had never bothered with testing at al, etc... My midwife said she would only ring if it was 'bad' news, and then do so between 5 and 8pm. You can imagine what I was like every time the phone rang! Do you have an appointment to go in and get the results? Probably totally irrelevant, but my friend who had bad results (Edward's syndrome) received her results after 24 hours from FISH amnio. She thought it would be 4 days, but apparently major chromsonal 'errors' are reported earlier with some labs. Please know you are not alone. We are all thinking of you, and will be here for you whatever the result, and whatever you decide to do.

ChaCha · 26/05/2005 14:54

Hi Diege and Hi Diddle!

Jenjam - You're half way there now, just have to wait for your other half to get home. Hold on girl!

CADS · 26/05/2005 15:15

Jenjam - Can you and dp get off work early? Surely, they will understand. Your 1st post, today, has me in tears. Lots of hugs.

ChaCha · 26/05/2005 15:42

Which is worse...A glass of coke or a cup of coffee? I'm seriously craving coke more than ever and just polished off a lovely cold can. Do feel a tad guilty now though but would not allow myself a coffee as had drunk the coke instead. Which is worse then? I don't drink tea anymore (have the odd coffee if i'm craving caffeine) and that's about it.
Am i bad?

Diege · 26/05/2005 15:56

LOL ChaCha . I'm also really into (full fat) Coke at moment (having always been a diet coke girl). I am presently (this second) really wanting a toasted cheese sandwich. I'm so hungry, but still at work (canteen a joke)...Coke makes everything better. Apparently the cola is known to ease nausea, and well it just tastes nice anyway!

ChaCha · 26/05/2005 16:11

Oh my goodness Diege! I had a toasted cheese sandwich (x2) for lunch with some olives and the lovely can of coke! I've found the coke does help with the nausea but boy can i burp!!!! Sorry for TMI he he!!!

Enthusia · 26/05/2005 16:39

JenJam, what time does your DH get home? It can't be much longer now, thinking of you!

ChaCha - Also love Coke at the mo, but only if from a pub's tap machine, otherwise is too fizzy. How fussy can you get?
