here we go...
Guess in the next one will be the one where we'll be waiting for the first kick! hooray it's the weekend! i haven't had any stretchy stomach feelings, maybe a quiet period pain rumble (!? is that what you mean?) well what a beautiful day i'm lying on sofa under a blanket, laptop on lap and sky baby channel on in background (i've just shed a few tears of happiness for a manchester mum who has just screamed her head off and given birth to a baby boy).

can't remember who asked - cads? re: measurement of c to r . i had one scan at 11+1 babe was 4.5 and another at 12+2 and it measured 6.0 cm.

have good sats jen

jenjam will be thinking of you today. I remember clearly how traumatic it was to have a midwife turn up on my front door at 4pm on a fri night to tell me about the high neural tube reading,it felt like the world had ended. Try and stay positive as your nuchal readings were excellent. One question to ask is how many amnios does the consultant perform a month/year?? the more they perfrom the lower the rate of misccariage for patients generaly (it drops as low as 0.5%)
Anyway let us know what happens all my love twinkle

twinkle1 · 24/05/2005 08:33

welcome tessasmum!! your very welcome to join the thread and congratulations on the wedding
twinkle

BEKsmum · 24/05/2005 08:36

Tessamum congratulations and welcome aboard, there are a few of us 30+ (that's age not dress size before I offend you) so don't worry and none of us act our age I don't think.

I'm due 13th November and I'm 15+2 I think but then again I have an extra long cycle, this week thing is very confusing this time round, sure I wasn't as confused with no. 1

Congratulations on your wedding too how wonderful, is it a church or civil wedding? you'll have to tell us all about in in minute detail afterwards. Are you going somewhere nice on honeymoon? Cor listen to me with all the questions what a nosey old bat.

Welcome aboard again, we're a friendly lot and if you look down the antenatal listing you'll see we've got a stats list on there too for November so just add your details and have a fun wedding and pregnancy.

Enthusia · 24/05/2005 08:58

Hiya

Don't think I mentioned it yesterday, but I have been signed off of work with stress and exhaustion, I now have a lovely 2 week break before I go back. Had a major telling off from Docs about doing too much and she has given me strict orders for when I go back. She is the best doctor I have ever visited and kept giving me hugs and pats on the back, she really seemed to understand, wish they were all like that!

Anyway, I am just trying to rest now, as well as doing a little work from home so am not snowed under when I go back.

JenJam, thinking of you today, can't really add anymore to what the others have already said, but we are all here for you.

Tessamum - welcome, how exciting about your wedding, I'd love to do mine all over again, loved the attention and getting to dress up for the day!!!!

My bump is now showing quite a bit, but still feels quite 'wobbly' esp at the top, when I sit down I just look fat, anyone else's bump similar or have all of you got those lovely neat bumps that are firm and just at the front?????? Saw a woman shopping on Sat who was a size 8, saw her from the back first and thought, ohh how slim, but when she tuned round she was heavily pg, but just in one area, the rest of her was so toned and slim, she just looked like she had a basketball up her top

HellKat · 24/05/2005 09:55

Looks like mc no.5. 99.99% sure it is. Heavy bleeding, clotting, agonising pains. EPU won't be able to do anything as so early on. Making dr's appt for the morning and then hopefully going for tests to see why this is happening so much. Feeling really crap atm. Though I'd better let you all know.
Hope everyone's well. Take care.
xxxxxxx

Xena · 24/05/2005 10:08

Oh HK i'm so sorry take care I'll be thinking of you.

HellKat · 24/05/2005 10:12

Thanks Xena.
How are you doing now?

twinkle1 · 24/05/2005 10:20

oh Hellcat im so sorry try to take it easy and put your feet up. let me know how it goes at the drs
twinkle

Xena · 24/05/2005 10:20

I'm feeling ok still abit shaky. Will they start investigating(sp?) for you now? I don't remember if you have any DC's? Or has there only been the sad m/cs?

HellKat · 24/05/2005 10:27

Thankyou Twinkle.
Had a d&c last month. The rest were mc's. Hopefully, because our gp's good, he'll sort out some tests.

Diege · 24/05/2005 10:44

{sad} oh Hellkat, so sad about your news. We're all thinking about you.
Jenjam - best of luck for today. Didn't realise you had nuchal too - it's much more accurate than the integrated. My consultant advised one, and I cancelled my triple test, as he seemed to think that the nuchal is such a superior test (though still false positives)that you don't need to bother with integrated if you have a better than 1.250 from nuchal (which you definitely have!). By the way, number for ARC (Antenatal results and choices is 020 7631 0285, www.arc-uk.org. They are brilliant.
By the way, on a much lighter note, who was it mentioned the battered fish fingeres a few days (?) ago? Had bad dream about them last night, and was violently sick on waling (really, not dream sick). Who's to blame!!

BEKsmum · 24/05/2005 12:18

HK sweetheart so sorry to hear your news, don't know what to say this time , can only think of an expletive to show my frustration for you. Look after yourself and I'm here if you want to chat, on here or on hotmail just shout. Love to you and your family and take care of yourself, you never know third time lucky and maybe you'll be a Valentines mum.

Hope the dr can shed some light on what's happening, let us know won't you.

BEKsmum · 24/05/2005 12:22

Diege I'll grass her up, it was Rodeo that was on about fish fingers and come to think about it it was her with the dead seal too!!!

Poor you how horrid, to throw up when you haven't even had the offending food, did have to lol though!

Hope all is going well with you, better go as just popped on here for two minutes peace & quiet as ds is driving me crazy today by just going on and on and on. He's just like his mother really.

JenJam · 24/05/2005 13:52

just back from hosp. taking rest of day off to lie on sofa with feet up and hope baby does not self-eject due to amnio. consultant was very nice. scan did not show any DS markers at all...so that lifted our spirits a bit although was quite scared when they read out all the measurements and i could see the computer operator's screen showed yellow blobs that were off the 'average' scale....consultant reminded me several times that it is the bloods that gave concern and these superior to today's scan; i had two nuchals...a good one (private) and a less good one (NHS) quite big discrepancy between the two.
anyway will get ultimate answer on friday. still worried and upset. dp and i both up and down, tearful, then buoyant. now starting to think we may continue whatever, as we can't bear thought of stopping his/her life having seen him/her again on screen. anyway, if we do get through this without a miscarriage we are going to find out the gender. life is too short. fingers crossed.

btw my sister in law became an auntie for the first time today! strange how someone else somewhere else could have such joy while we experienced such worry and upset today. anyway will be back on when i have some more news for you all. need to get my mind on other things for next two days

Diege · 24/05/2005 14:03

Wow Jenjam, you've really been through it. So hard to do, but try to take it easy. At least you don't have 2-3 week wait - I presume you are having the FISH analysis?

Talking of FIsh, thanks for grassing up that Rodeo, Beksmum. It's not the fish itself, but the 'coating' (can't even type it)that caused problems. Having a major thing about mash (can't get enough) at the moment, though upset by inclusion of peppercorns in Sainsbury's 'luxury' variety! My (youngest) toddler is an absolute nightmare at the moment - full blown tantrums, including self-induced vomiting in public. Nearly lost it the other day when out as she wouldn't sit in buggy or stand up. Had to resort to under the arm carrying, while pushing other one on buggy board. Was 3 of 4 45 miniute tantrums that day, and ended up losing my temper and smacking! (I know, I know, it doesn't work, and v.bad mum) How can two children be so different! Having said that no.2 was a lot more active inside me - don't know if this means trouble ahead! Suppose it's just normal twos, but have been spoiled by no.1 being so angelic(ish!). How old is your little one Beksmum?

hamster · 24/05/2005 15:56

Hey there,

HK, so sorry to hear. Be strong xxx

Well, I hope everyone else is ok-ish. Read through today, and it seems a bit of a down day.
Hope there is a little more sun shining down on everyone tomorrow.

I was going to go to the midwife today for my 16wk appointment, but ended up cancelling till next week. DP has been called away through work, and insists on coming too(bless). I don't mind, just the suspense is killing me!! I wanna hear that little baby! Got new appointment next Tuesday.

Enthusia-yes you are not the only one with the belly problem. I think ALL of my stomach muscles have given up way early this time. I look like one of those fat bus drivers. I sit down and it's more fat than baby!
My best mate is 29 weeks pg, she is only just fitting into size 12 normal clothes(they hang off her). Doubt she'll need maternity wear, the bump is sooo compact.

Welcome Tessasmum. Congrats on baby and wedding-you're in for an exciting year aren't you! Sounds wonderful!

Hope you're ok Jenjam, can't imagine what you're feeling. Keep strong. I know I haven't really talked to you much, but I am thinkin of you. xx

BEKsmum · 24/05/2005 17:01

Jenjam thank goodness, from your message I think it's ok for us all to be optomistic isn't it? If there was no d/s markers lets hope that it is going to be all good news on Friday. Rest up and take care of yourself get your partner to pamper you and to make a huge fuss of you for the next two days, we'll all be waiting on tenterhooks for you to post on Friday. Congrats to your sil, but it is hard to hear good news when you are going through such a tough time isn't it

Diege I'm not a huge fan of mash myself but my ds loves it so I made a compromise yesterday and we had bubble & squeak, what a great way to get toddlers to eat there veg!.

What a nightmare, your little one sounds like she's really finding her feet at the moment, self induced vomitting is my worst nightmare, ds's little buddy can do it and it really irritates me. I know people say you shouldn't smack but sometimes it's just completely unavoidable and the most irritating thing is it doesn't work and you feel worse for it but after three tantrums like that in one day ds would have got a smack too.

I thought the two's were hard but I'm beginning to think the threes are going to be a lot worse as ds has a very good vocabulary so constantly argues the toss with me. I said something to him yesterday and he turned round and told me "I was a pain in the arse" I was so shocked I laughed so he then kept saying it and of course then I had to be cross, but he has heard it from me when I've been really cross and now it's coming back to haunt me!!!

I take my hat off to you with three under four by the end of the year. There is no way I could manage that, I'm already dreading have another one in the house just because I'm not sure how I'll split myself in half when ds is used to so much attention. I'm trying to stop this a bit but then feel mean.

My ds is 3.2 years old and has just gone through the nightmare from hell stage but is back to being lovely again now. He has three month cycles where he alternates between angel and satan and the worst thing is I never see the end of each period coming so he goes to bed nice one night and wakes up satans sporn the next morning.

Lets hope the weather improves soon so that we can get them all out in the garden to get rid of the excess energy they save up for tantrums.

Have a nice evening

BEKsmum · 24/05/2005 17:02

Hamster sorry meant to say aren't you good waiting like that, hope this week goes quickly for you. I've got my 16 week scan next week too, I think it's on Tuesday but could be thursday, suppose I should check really!!! we'll have to compare notes. Here's to hearing very noisy heartbeats next week.

ChaCha · 24/05/2005 17:14

I'm really thick! Would someone mind explaining all the tests to me? All i know is that i have had a standard dating scan at 12+5, am due to see m/w for booking type appt at 15+ and then there is a 20 week scan (this one involves signing a form as they check for abnormalities). What else am i missing? Sorry first timer and haven't the energy this week to sit and read through the books.

Jenjam - wishing you all the best.

Hellkat - I'm really, really sorry. Please give yourself some rest. Can your kids stay at a relatives while you take a break with DH? Thinking of you xx

Hamster - Bet you're counting the days! (Well maybe not everyone is quite as sad as i am) If I don't have another scan till 20+ can i ask the m/w to let me hear it at 15+ or is it a case of waiting till then?

Tessasmum - Hi there and congratulations on your wedding.

After half a Chicago type take-away pizza think i need to excuse myself ahhhhh

HellKat · 24/05/2005 17:24

Thanks all for your support.
Sorry Chacha, no chance of a break away with dp.
I've just been shutting myself away, tucked up in bed.
Jenjam- Fingers crossed for you on Friday.
Take care all, will let you know what the dr plans on doing.

rodeo1 · 24/05/2005 17:32

Oh HK, how sh*tty, can't type what I would have liked to type as I've got a 5 yr old hanging over my shoulder I'm glad your gp is good, I 'm sure he/she can give you the help and answers you need. Love and hugs to you x x x x x x x

Oh I knew you'd grass me up, Beks!! Although I have been dishing it out lately, it's kama isn't it. Promise to be much nicer to you all and don't worry diege, won't mention them again (or their coating)!

jenjam, hope you're feeling more positive and I'm sure everything will be fine, pregnancy is a worrying enough time as it is, without problems like this, but you'll be that much more delighted when you've got your healthy baby in your arms!

I know exactly what you mean about the under arm carry method!! I've carried this out a lot recently usually when I've got a load of heavy shopping to negotiate too. My ds has a very annoying habit of wriggling his hand out of mine by the side of a busy road or refusing to walk while in the middle of crossing one!

Well bye for now x x x

Laylasmum · 24/05/2005 17:38

Hellkat - so sorry to read your recent posts , thinking of you.x
Jenjam - thinking of you too, the days seem so long when you're waiting for results or something don't they? Really hope all is well with you and bubs in the end.!!

rodeo1 · 24/05/2005 17:44

Chacha you should get offered a blood test after 15 weeks which gives you a risk factor in having a baby with downs or spina bifida. It's called the triple test here, but can be slightly different around the country. My midwife didn't advise me to have one so I've not had it.
It can be unneccesarily worrying and give out a lot of false positives, I think there is a few of us who have had the false positives (me, twinkle are 2)Also it won't pick up all downs/spina bifida babies. And jenjams going through it at the mo. Talk to your midwife to see if she thinks it is worth it - you don't have to have it.

Enthusia · 24/05/2005 18:26

Rodeo

My old MW booked me in for an appointment too early so I had my 16 week visit at 13 and a half weeks. My next appointment won't be until I am 26 weeks, will that triple test therefore not be done? It was not mentioned at my last appointment at all, and it is only because of this conversation that I even knew of them. I will also have had my 22 weeks scan by that point too.

Jenjam - thinking of you, keep those feet up and relax if at all possible.

Hellkat - Hugs coming to you!

tessasmum · 24/05/2005 20:10

Enthusia, I think the triple test has to be done around 16 weeks. Had it at 17 weeks first time round but didn't know I was pg until 15 weeks (another story entirely!!) Gave it to me begrudgingly as they said it would come back high risk because of my age and were trying to book me in for amnio that I was resisting. Luckily it came back low risk so I was able to do a very satisfying "Yah boo sucks" to grotty registrar!
This time, at a different hospital, the consultant was great, very much of the opinion that you really need to consider if you want to know. We have decided against any tests this time even though the DS risk is much higher (1:55 at 42 compared with 1:110 at 40). Personal choice but right for us.
