here we go...
Guess in the next one will be the one where we'll be waiting for the first kick! hooray it's the weekend! i haven't had any stretchy stomach feelings, maybe a quiet period pain rumble (!? is that what you mean?) well what a beautiful day i'm lying on sofa under a blanket, laptop on lap and sky baby channel on in background (i've just shed a few tears of happiness for a manchester mum who has just screamed her head off and given birth to a baby boy).

can't remember who asked - cads? re: measurement of c to r . i had one scan at 11+1 babe was 4.5 and another at 12+2 and it measured 6.0 cm.

have good sats jen

Rodeo - Do boys bounce around more in the womb than girls?

Hey Enthusia -

BEKsmum · 22/05/2005 08:52

Chacha glad the scan went well and that baby gave you a wave, you must have been thrilled, it's defiitely a day you'll never forget.

Enthusia poor you, are you feeling any better today? Has the marking gone down? Sorry no advice to give.

Rodeo glad work took it well.

Right better go as I'm supposed to be amusing ds while dh has a lie in. Speak to you later.

BEKsmum · 22/05/2005 19:26

Where is everyone today? the weather here has been great but I've been too busy doing the housework to get outside. Hope you all had a great day.

Rodeo just looking at your stats and your daughters birthday is the same day as mine! Is she a typical Cancerian, I am!!!

Have a nice evening all and I'll speak to you tomorrow

Diddle · 22/05/2005 19:47

beksmum - i'm here, lousy weather here. just had torrential rain, hale and thunder. it seems to have passed now.
have a good evening

BEKsmum · 22/05/2005 21:07

Evening Diddle, How's it going? Your weather sounds dreadful, just popped on for a second as ds & dh both have lousy colds and ds has just woke up having a coughing fit and is feeling very sorry for himself!

Daddy is now sorting him out and I suppose I'd better go and iron dh some shirts for work tomorrow. Speak to you later.

twinkle1 · 22/05/2005 21:19

diddle we appear to have the same weather as you up here in the peak distict, I suppose i should be grateful its not snowing. Hope you are all well
twinkle

Diddle · 22/05/2005 21:22

beksmum - i'm ok thanks, ironing shirts too.

twinkle - i'm in the midlands, the rain has finally past but its been a miserable day.

rodeo1 · 22/05/2005 22:18

Well just a quick check on you all, just watched 24, had a nice day today, we took the children to the beach at Anderby in Lincs, wasn't sure about the weather, but it was really sunny (well between clouds)! We had a brill time

But.....went to sit down next to (well not right next to, about 10 metres away) this abandoned bag, children and dp heading towards the sea at this point, and there was a bit of a funny wiff, abandoned bag on closer inspection was a dead rotting seal! With it's head torn off! Managed to steer children away without them seeing it!

Well enough of my news, not long to go til your birthday then Beks (well that's what dd KEEPS reminding me!),

Enthusia, I sometimes get these round the base of my neck, but I think I get them when I've taken medicine, surely nothing to worry about. Oh also I got them on my boob the other day when I was scratching it , so they are very delicate and doesn't take much to bring them out, esp when your pg and have loads more blood to pump round.

Chacha, yes boy's do move more, boy's umbilical cords (on average) are longer than girls for this reason. Although I'm sure loads of women have had bouncy girls too. My ds was more bouncy than dd though!

Speak to you all tomorrow

hamster · 23/05/2005 10:04

Morning all,
Where is everyone?
Hope you all had a great weekend, Chacha and Twinkle sounds like you were both on cloud 9! Glad scans went well!

Well, I am back on my food again-to say the least. I actually can't stop eating, I s'pose I have the best part of 4 months to make up for though!

I have midiwfe tomorrow, first appointment since I was 11 weeks(or even before that). Can't wait!
I really want to hear baby's heartbeat, and make sure everything is still ok. I'm not sure what else she will do though this time. Does she need to take any more blood? They took some at the hospital at 12 weeks. Does anyone know?

I'm rhesus negative too, so I'll have to have those horrible injectionsfrom 28 weeks. 12 weeks to build up the courage(deep breaths!)

Boobs are taking on a whole new life of their own. DP is amazed! I have had to buy new bras as they are expanding so fast. Mind you with DS, they went even smaller than their original size afterwards. Gutted, I hope it's not the same this time! Bras aren't cheap!

Enthusia, I have had like burst blood vessels on my legs, like bruises. I have no idea what causes it. Luckily they go after a few days, hope yours are the same. I have one on my nose too, looks like a have a huge spot up my nose from a distance-thank God for makeup!

KristinaM · 23/05/2005 10:40

Hi Hamster. Hope the Mw appointment goes Ok. No i dont think they take any blood now, if they did them all before. Did you get blood taken for all the test they do - rubella, syphilis, hepB, etc etc. I thinks thats all until they check your antibodies at 35 weeks. Unless they think you are anaemic or something. Sorry to hear about all the nasty injections for your rhesus status - guess you have a thing about needles then? Must be horrid in preg as you cant avoid it

Glad to hear your Dp is so excited about the amazing pneumatic boobs! Just tell him they are a reward coz he has to do most of the housework now

hamster · 23/05/2005 11:30

Hi Kristina.
I don't mind needles too much, just the ones they use on for the antiD jabs aren't what one would call small! lol

I think they took all my bloods at 12 weeks, but what puts doubt into my mind is that my friend, who is 3 months ahead of me in pg world, told me they take more at 16 weeks I hope not...my midwife is a bit of a butcher!

How have you been anyway Kristina? I've looked back and haven't seen you on here for a bit.

ChaCha · 23/05/2005 11:36

Good morning Hamster and Kristina..

So they take blood at the booking appt? I had a kind of booking appt at 10 weeks, the m/w wasn't there but my GP gave me my PG file, filled in all the forms, took urine sample and checked blood pressure etc.. there was no blood taken! I have another appt at about 15+ so am assuming that is when they take blood etc. I am really worried about this as i am the world's worst when it comes to needles - no joke! I fainted when my obstetrician tried last and in the end he just gave up Same happened after operation - the nurse was losing her patience.
I feel sick...

hamster · 23/05/2005 12:07

Oh Chacha! You're that bad-poor you. I have to just look the other way.
They took my blood when I went for my 12 week scan, that's how they've started doing it here now. Last year was different (when pg with ds), I just had blood taken at 16 weeks.
Oh well you have a couple of weeks to pluck up the courage. And you'll be more than used to needles by the end of your pg!

Where's everyone else today?
Ah well, I had better do some housework......zzz

SharonTW1 · 23/05/2005 12:14

hi girls, feeling really tired today , thanks for all your good wishes about my scan it really is fab, hello to the new girls I haven't spoken to yet. It's so exciting isn't it ?
My baby was 75mm long at 14weeks and head 26mm, sure we're all normal.
Anyone else on here in the north east ??
Is it too early to be counting down to when I leave work ??
take care and keep smiling, we are all miracle workers remember !!! xx

ChaCha · 23/05/2005 12:29

Hi Sharon - when do you stop work? Long to go?
As a teacher, last working day is 22nd July and I shouldn't complain as have cut my hours down to 3 days a week since being PG but can't wait for the holidays, there's a lot i want to do without having to focus on work.

At 14 weeks the baby is 75mm!!! Wow, they must grow much faster 2nd trimester. I must get reading.

Hamster - just about to tackle yet MORE washing after a quick lunch - eating machine strikes back! Happy houseworking.

Diddle · 23/05/2005 13:37

chacha - how are you doing with the investigating childminding, sorry i've been no help, never have time to post a long enough message about it. are you still considering it?

alfiesmum · 23/05/2005 13:44

Hello everyone,

chacha - I have just had my first blood tests done today and i'm 16 weeks. I saw a midwife at my scan and she gave me the forms and told me where to go. She also gave me a booklet listing all the blood test that are done during pregnancy. My normal midwife that I saw last week also checked that I had been given the forms.

Quadruple test - 15-16 weeks

Haemoglobin, blood group and antibody sceening - 28-30 weeks

Hamster - did they tell you what they were testing you for? they must do things differently in each region x

ChaCha · 23/05/2005 13:45

Hi Diddle - was wondering how you were and managed to stalk you on other thread! Glad all is well
TBH, think i will just concentrate on being a SAHM for a while. Friend told me that i should receive some money for the last 10/11 weeks of pregnancy which is great and thereafter normal benefit of i think £17 a month so hopefully will be okay for a while. I need to have just under £200 a month income though come January 2006 - not sure what i'll do but have looked at after school hours - you know clubs and the like. Have also heard you can work from home (Vodafone was home) if you've a laptop and phone...any info on anything always appreciated..

ChaCha · 23/05/2005 13:46

That should read £17 a week! Crikey, imagine that a month...

Diddle · 23/05/2005 13:53

glad you're sorting yourself out, stalk away, i'm not doing anything interesting.

Diddle · 23/05/2005 13:54

apart from finally BD i'd forgotten how much fun making babies is.

ChaCha · 23/05/2005 13:55

LOL
Childcare just seems such hard work, i have great respect for those of you who do it. I think i should personally concentrate on how i'm going to be able to look after my own during the early months let alone anyone else's. Maybe its something i can do later. Best of luck to you Diddle xx

Diddle · 23/05/2005 14:05

thanks chacha - i need luck, its only monday and i'm knackered

twinkle1 · 23/05/2005 14:09

twinkle

JenJam · 23/05/2005 14:59
