Welcome ruddynorah! Tamlin I am terrified by the 'extremely nasty emergency measures'... OMG you poor thing. did it take you a long time to recover??

Ninja, what a lovely summer - I am so jealous!!

Just got back from meeting DH for lunch (aaaah, half term!) which made me get ridiculously emotional for no reason other than we were walking through central london feeling sad that we would be leaving soon-ish - think it made me feel all like my 'youth' was over, somehow. Ridiculous, I know! We are planning to move up to the Peak district once I have gone back to work for long enough to mean I wouldn't have to pay back Mat pay. IYSWIM.

Bought a gorgeous dress from Zara, really pleased with how nice it is! Will see if I can find it on the website...

tigger32 · 28/05/2009 16:27

Hello all!

Sorry I've not been around for a while, things have been a bit mad and I've been feeling quite poorly (not to mention the fact that my pc takes too long to open threads over about 700 posts)

Anyway i've spent the last 2 weeks having my blood pressure checked loads (due to lots of headaches) and yesterday I had another scan as I've had more bleeding and pains.

Everything is fine though and I've got some lovely pictures of my baby, we can even see the brain! I have an area of blood at the top of cervix (sp?) which needs to come away (hence the bleeding) the midwife has said that it will be checked again at 20 weeks but should have gone by then so fingers crossed

I have finally felt the baby moving today which was lovely, (had so much wind gurgling about before)

On the subject of finding out the sex, Dh and I have decided not to, we didn't with the others and loved finding out at the birth.

ninjacat your summer does sound good, enjoy!

I'm going to read through the thread now to see what you have all been up to!

Koumak · 28/05/2009 16:34

Another thing to add to the forbidden list ? firm stomachs thank you very much!

Welcome Ruddynorah

Scarlotti it happened to me at work last Friday. God that was good to hear as I look like an elephant already. Dh says come summer I will have Greenpeace pulling me back to sea as will definitely look like a whale by then. AND Colleague at work said to me today that he will be spraying me with water come July? When I told mw that I have been putting on too much weight too quickly she said not to worry as long as I stay a ?healthy whale?! Can this get any worse?

I think energy is coming back. Actually can stay awake past ds?s bedtime which did not happen in the v. beginning. I managed a proper swim before work this morning, you know proper front crawl instead of leisurely breast stroke?

Have a massive Sainsbury?s shopping arriving tonight after I get home from work as voluntarily and stupidly offered to organise sort of hens lunch at our place (bit of house warming party since we moved a month or so ago). So have to start on prep tonight and tom night so have sat morning to clean! Also have agreed to hen weekend in Kent in early July. Remind me why I am going to two weddings in the middle of summer? What was I thinking?

Pedalmonster it looks like Dorisdaily is having boy - right? Is that two boys now on this thread?

Thandeka sorry about your bean but hey congratulations to another one!

Koumak · 28/05/2009 16:34

sorry about the long post no wonder this thread keeps moving fast will do some work now..

katster37 · 28/05/2009 16:53

Tigger it sounds like you have been having a tough time of it lately. Hope you are feeling better now that you know exactly what the bleeding was caused by.

Koumak I feel big too, and it's my first! Have put on 4lbs but my stomach is huge. So I think it's 4 lbs on my stomach, great! Hope the prepping for Saturday goes OK. Atleast you are organised!!

BeckyBendyLegs · 28/05/2009 17:00

Ohhh ninjacat at Saint Etienne. They sing my theme song (I was born on Christmas Day). I annoy everyone every Christmas by playing it over and over so I don't get forgotten in the festivities.

We've been out all day at Cosford Museum (fantastic place and free to boot) and you lot have virtual verbal diarrhea! Takes me ages to catch up! We met up with an old friend of mine at Cosford who is desperately trying for her second baby (has been trying for over 2 years, 2 MCs, still trying). I thought it would be awkward me being so obviously with child number three but she was really happy to talk about it and we talking about how awful TTCing is. She's 38 and she says that if nothing happens by the end of the year they are going to stop I really, really, really want her to get pregnant and have a healthy pregnancy soon.

Fantastic idea - 220 week scan! The child will be about 3 1/2 by then!

brightonbaby · 28/05/2009 17:38

Hi, I've just found this new thread. Am glad I didn't lose you all.

I just wanted to say a huge thank you for your lovely, kind messages of sympathy last week. They really helped, I can't tell you! It has been a very sad time and the timing on the day of my wedding couldn't have been worse. I'm sure if you'd read about it in a magazine, you'd have thought it was made up!

But (sigh) it's all over now and I'm starting to feel a lot better, much more positive and at peace. I came into contact with some very caring nurses and doctors. My fiance, family and friends have been very loving and supportive. I now feel very indebted and so lucky to have such lovely people around me.

So, thank you again for posting those messages. I'll log in from time to time to see how you're all doing and I hope to be back on here in a few months.

Lots of love, bb.

Tamlin · 28/05/2009 17:51

Koumak, my DH went swimming with me at the very end of my last pregnancy (since we were both under the happy illusion that I might suddenly go into labour immediately at the pool, as women do in the movies), and then dove under me making whale song noises. So helpful!

Becky, it is tricky when friends are having fertility problems - DH's closest friend and his wife have just given up treatments, and two of my uni friends are currently undergoing grueling cycles of IVF. Everyone's in their late twenties, too, so you think the odds would be on their side... I try not to send them loads of baby pics, but then they comment when I don't - hard to know when to be tactful.

brightonbaby, again, I'm so sorry. The miscarriage boards on here are great, I hope they're helpful to you... And I very much hope your next pregnancy is a sticky one.

sleeplessinthecity · 28/05/2009 19:12

brightonbaby thanks for coming back and letting us know how you are. Hope you're on here very soon..

Hi Ruddynorah welcome to Nov..

I'm trying to look pregnant so dress in loose clothes and stick my belly out..just look flabby rather than preggers so am going out of my way...silly isn't it!

Names are great!!! I love Sally Cinnamon..
DH and I make a list of 5 each then we swap and veto three so then we have a shorter of four to choose from. Then we wait for baby! I am so finding out if, first its healthy and ok, then the sex..I just have no will power. Roll on 30th June..

pedal you crack me up...

I treated myself to a pedicure..so have beautiful pink toenails..am in a good mood as DH is back soon.. with my three pairs of shoes...(hope they fit)

katster37 · 28/05/2009 19:32

Brightonbaby so good to hear from you. Had been thinking of you and your DH. Really hope you are on a new ante-natal thread soon, and that your next pregnancy is as stress-free as it can be.

Sleepless lucky you, waiting for new shoes, AND your DH My DH is working late but I am meeting him at the station and we are going for a walk.

I am going away tomorrow to stay with my best mate and am irrationally scared! They eat really late (like 10 - 11pm late) and I HAVE to eat at 5 or 6pm at the minute, or feel dreadful. She doesn't have children yet so I think she might just think I'm being a total wimp, but staying up 'til 11 would be no mean feat, let alone eating then!! OMG! Am going to ring her now and explain all about my fainting dramas in the hope that she will catch on...

ursigurke · 28/05/2009 19:48

tigger - great to hear that everything is fine. Must be a relieve to know the reason of the bleeding.
Ninjacat - thanks for showing some interest in my name options. I really like Antonia for a girl, I think it sounds like a strong and smart woman. My husband hates it. We both like Paula for a girl and Paul for a boy. I just think, they are too short. We will probably only go for one name as we both don't have middle names (it is less common than in the UK, even if I always wished I had a second name) and we are already having problems to agree on one as it seems.
And for girls I also really like Sarah, Mirjam and Judith. For some reason I am really focussed on girls names even if I think it is a boy.
There are also lots of very beautiful names but as someone has mentioned before, in the end, we will chose a more common one. I think it has to fit well with the surname (which could actually be a normal German word) so nothing foreign or too exceptional.
Tamlin - I think you mentioned cloth nappies. I am seriously considering to use them as well (maybe not all the time). I was almost shocked when my sister started to use them but I saw that they have really good stuff now, not what we used to wear (not that I remember). Can you recommend any brands?
Well, sorry for the long post but I have missed about three pages since this morning!

ursigurke · 28/05/2009 19:52

Katster - Agree you should tell your friend, she can't know.
When I stayed at a friends house she really cared about me and I realised that I hadn't done the same with her when she had been pregnant. I just had no idea how important it is to get enough food and early enough or to take a rest. I'm sure she will understand (or at least accept)

tigger32 · 28/05/2009 20:02

brightonbaby I've just looked back on the old thread and am so very sorry to hear your terrible news, and such dreadful timing. I'm so pleased to hear that you are getting the support you need though.

Tamlin · 28/05/2009 20:05

ursigurke, I think the type of cloth which will suit you really depends on a bunch of factors - do you have a dryer or will you be drying on racks? Do you have hard water or soft? The cloth nappy board will probably be more help than me... I use a mix of Motherease and Totsbots (bamboo for absorbency, Fluffles for quick drying) but we don't own a dryer (have heard that Totsbots can shrink for some people). I do love the website www.kittykins.co.uk, they do terrific reviews and I've always had great service from them...

hobnob57 · 28/05/2009 20:46

I'm with forgottenhernamealready in that I can't possibly remember a whole days' posts to reply to them! But brightonbaby stay strong, you sound like you're doing a good job already.

I use motherease onesize nappies on my DD. They dry really quickly and I've never had any leaks with them, despite DD having food intolerances that resulted in explosive diarrhoea. Ace nappies.

We've been potty training DD since Christmas, and she cuaght on really quickly. However, she does go through phases of accidents. At the moment she seems to be a bit poo-phobic (Have no idea whatsoever what set that off) and refuses to acknowledge she needs one. She'll say she needs a wee, then won't do anything on the loo and will do all she can to hold it in (and gets sore tummies as a result). Pretty frustrating. Most of the time she ends up doing it before going to sleep in her nappy and then has a really sore bum in the morning . Tonight, it all came out on the trampoline after tea . I wonder if leaving them to it when they are older really is a better option.

katster37 · 28/05/2009 21:00

Usigurke I think Antonia is lovely too, and Mirjam. One of best friends at school is from Germany and her little girl is called Anja which I love as well. I like girls' names ending in 'a', although it seems this time atleast, I don't have to worry about girls' names! Can only find about 2 boys' names that we can agree on!

Just watching Britain's Got Talent, oh the shame....

Ninjacat · 28/05/2009 21:22

ursigurke I love Antonia (I know one, she's a doctor). I also like Antonio for a boy.

claired21 · 28/05/2009 22:53

Evening all

Re cloth nappies - my local council offers an incentive scheme for parents to use washable nappies. I've asked for an information pack but haven't decided yet. There seem to be a lot of options including cloth nappies which have disposable flushable liners and also laundry services, although paying to have your nappies washed would probably bring the costings up to rival the cost of disposables!

If anyone has used them before I'd love to hear of your experiences. Trying to consider the fact that with a Nov baby we won't be hanging out washing and I don't currently have a tumble drier.

Being bottom of the list (29th Nov) I haven't felt any movement yet and being a Glaswegian I'm not entitled to a 20 weekscan. Feeling very hard done by!

helips · 29/05/2009 07:46

Hi everyone, my internet gave up the ghost again after my last post and I've only just caught up, very annoying!

brightonbaby thanks for letting us know how you are and good luck for the future. Its great that you have such supportive dp and family and that you were treated well by hospital staff. All the best for the future.

Am thin king of potty training ds in the next few months. He will be 2 in August, does this sound too soon or about right? I have bought a potty and just left it lying around for him to get used to but know idea how to begin potty training. Any tips?

Got my 20 week scan on 23rd June, not going to find out sex as like surprises although it is tempting! Also, have huge baby bump, already had some twin comments which is so not funny!

As for names, quite like Matilda for a girl, Tilly for short, and Charlie for a boy.

Right better go, ds is clambering on me and trying to log me off, maybe thats why my laptop keeps breaking! Hope everyone well...

BeckyBendyLegs · 29/05/2009 08:04

Hi all

Brightonbaby good to hear from you xxx take care of yourself and hope to see you pop in soon with more news xxx

Me and the DSs are off to my dad's caravan for a few days - until Sunday - so please no hundreds of posts while we're away or it'll take me hours to catch up when we're back!!!

Can you believe it I am here up and ready to go and the DSs are still asleep. Sigh. Aren't they excited enough??

ursigurke · 29/05/2009 08:08

Good morning all! Hope you will all enjoy the sunshine (I might not, will make work really hard and probably make me work on the weekend too)
Thanks for all those nice comments about Antonia. I wish my husband could change his mind.
helips - very nice name choices. My nieces middle name is Matilde. I found it rather unusual at the time but I really like it now.
sleepless - I am trying to look pregnant too. (And I am watching myself in every single window). I think in loose cloths I just look like having had too many pies so my favourite look are maternity jeans (would still fit in normal ones from fatter days if I wear them really low which makes me look like a teenage boy) and a tight T-Shirt. And in this combination I look sooooo pregnant.

Tabbykat · 29/05/2009 08:11

Morning all, hope everyone has lots of sunshine where they are?

Have woken up v tired and grumpy - had big row with DH last night as he promised to be home from work by 8 (early for him, the b@~*&& workaholic) No sign of him by 10, despite me repeatedly calling his mobile and office, to just get answerphone. Finally rolls in at 11 saying "Oh, I couldn't find my mobile phone and you know I can't remember our number." Nevermind that we're in the bloody phonebook - grrrrr!! Had a massive go at him along the lines of "What if I was in labour? I thought there'd been an accident!" etc, etc. Now feeling v guilty for being childish but just so BLOODY cross!

Sorry for ranting - think it must be these flipping hormones as am definitely being v overdramatic and constantly imagining the worst.

Helips - love Matilda for a girl. Also v keen on Daisy, Sadie, Tabitha and Lola. Think it's a boy though. We've pretty much decided to find out at the next scan. We didn't with DD, mostly as we were so sure she was a boy, but it means we can go through all the old baby clothes and see if we can reuse the pink stuff or if we need to treat baby to a few new things of it's own!

Anyway, will stop moaning and go and do something constructive! Hope everyone has a good day, xx

katster37 · 29/05/2009 08:30

Tabbykat I LOVE Daisy, it's one of my favourites!! I love all our girl name choices, we had decided before I was even pregnant but we are not quite as struck by any of our boys names, and it looks like we're having a boy. Boo.

Usigurke hope the sun doesn't make your work too bad. I am also trying to cultivate the pregnant look! Yesterday afternoon after lunch I was walking around town and I DEF looked super pregnant - loved it!

Am also away this weekend, at my friends in Manchester. I did ring her last night and she was really sweet about it. SO - don't be too chatty or it will take me ages to catch up on SUnday night!! Have lovely weekends in the sun everyone x

BeckyBendyLegs · 29/05/2009 08:40

Katster how about you read Saturday's posts and I read Sunday's and we summarize for the other to save time

Boys' names do seem to be harder to think of - each time our girls' names list has been twice, three times as long as the boys names. If this one is a boy we're going to be stumped. But boys may be harder to name but they are so lovely: you should see the DSs now brimming over with excitement about going to the seaside today - they have packed their little suitcases with toys. DS2 was so excited he took off his jammies this morning, forgot to put any clothes on, and I found him just now looking for toys around the house to take in the nuddie.

sleeplessinthecity · 29/05/2009 09:23

Tabbycat you have every right to be grumpy.. I would be FURIOUS.

Got to go..feel rubbish today
