New thread for you as it was geting a bit big...

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
southernbelle77 · 30/05/2009 20:33

Oh my god, I've only been away for a few days (very hectic and busy half term!) and there is not only a new thread, but it's over 100 posts long! Sorry I've not had a chance to catch up with everything but will try and do more so tomorrow when I'm doing the housework and dh and dd are going out

pavlovthecat · 30/05/2009 21:18

southernbelle catching up on your thread is housework. It is essential maintenance!

pinkfizzle · 31/05/2009 08:41

At 4 am yesterday I puked over the bedroom floor (luckily we have a hard wood floor).
Got out to enjoy the weather but then came back and had nasty nausea from 10pm til 2am this morning. 18 weeks pg and the ms returned.
Cream cakes are behind my weight gain but perhaps the cause of my ms, so I'm going to try avoid empty calories.

I'm planning to hit the pool, inspired by the mention of swimming but am scared to get up out of bed in case a puke session follows...

As to work I have for now managed to keep my supportive contractor for now - Yay (through no help from HR) but I'm not posting about work when there is gorgeous weather out there.

Love all the chat about names, and thanks to the poster who posted the reusable nappies site - cute cute cute (as long as you don't think about the fillings)!

Lovely to hear from Brighton Baby.

Hope bedtime was not too traumatic for pavlov.

tigger32 · 31/05/2009 08:49

pav sorry to hear your DD ruined your day out, I hope she went to sleep for you without too much trouble! How old is she? My ds1 can be dreadful sometimes (he is 5) it really gets you down when they play up big time doesn't it?! I hope you have a better day today.

Ds1 has been poorly since friday, he has either wanted to be carried around or slept, he is covered in a rash this morning, still has a high temperature and sounds like he has a swollen throat, so am thinking of taking him to the out of hours surgery.

southernbelle I hope you enjoyed your break away and good luck catching up on the thread!

Off to wake Dh up, have a good day all

turtle23 · 31/05/2009 08:54

Sunday morning and I have been up since 5. Yawn. Scary thing is I decided to clean the house instead of lounging about...what is wrong with me?!

OP posts:
pavlovthecat · 31/05/2009 09:11

turtle I have decided to clean the house too. Well in a few minutes eh? Mainly as we have work being started on our loft in a week. DH has promised to sort the loft out, all he has succeeded in doing over the last couple of months is move all the stuff we are throwing out into a pile, create a pile for a boot fair. Not done the boot fair, or taken the millions of trips worth of stuff to the tip. But thats how he tidies and cleans anyway, he moves things from one place to another. God knows what we are going to do, the whole point we are getting it done is we have no space, which means there is nowhere to put anything! I had wanted DD to come in with us and use her room as storage, but no DH does not want that, so everything is coming in with us for storage, which he does not want either. But he wont come up with a solution. He has not even been in the loft for weeks. He just refuses to do it and now this week I am back at work [arrrrrgh].

DD went to be after an enormous tantrum, woke up in a bad mood. God knows what is wrong with her. Possibly not well? She seems fine as in no temp or runny nose or anything. Will keep an eye, she is probably just playing up. She is almost 3.

I had a day in the sun yesterday so can cope without going out today.

Have a good day everyone. Hope you enjoy your day x

ldeeanna · 31/05/2009 14:05

Hello, haven't been here for a while and really upset to hear such bad news with Brightonbaby, Laugs and Kasters friend-so sad.
Everyone alright? Cant beleive MS is still going for some of you! Hope it goes soon-you must be really thin now!! Im a whale! Noticed a bump now-its weird coz its different throughout the day-gets bigger and smaller!!
Any first timers felt any movement yet? Im eagerly awaiting mine!
Heard the babys heartbeat the other day-amazing!
Dont know whether to find out the sex of the baby???? DP is desperate to find out-so am I really but I also like the idea of anouncing whether its a boy or girl after the birth-makes it more exciting-maybe I should find out and then keep it a secret???!!!!

Anyone thinking of names yet-im struggling with girls names!! People are really unkind to your suggestions too-the misery who works for us was going on about our names being too old fashioned and we cant possibly call a child that! But the old fart doesn't seem to realise that old names are coming back!! My hormones were barely holding back towards her-wanted to tell her its because she is infact old and coz her grandmothers were possibly called names like that but as WE are YOUNG we dont associate the names with senior citizens!! Rant rant rant!!

Just to add-much calmer these days-thought I was going to give myself a heart attack in first trimester!!! Hope no one else is feeling worried?

Trikken · 31/05/2009 14:13

Argh, am so annoyed. Hubby booked off 19th June so as he could come to the 20 week scan, and tho he booked it five weeks ago and it was approved by his manager he has now been told that he cant have it off. (also means i cant get there, but possibly mil could give me a lift if necessary) He reckons he's gonna just go, but when he asked if he could use his lunch break to come to see the MW with me last week he was told outrightly 'no'. not even on his lunch break. I know he doesnt have a 'right' to come to these things but I feel as the baby is his too he should be able to come to these things.

Sorry for the outburst, im just so peed.

ldeeanna · 31/05/2009 14:53

Trikken There seriously are some monsters around aren't there-i'm sure that stupid boss would be very different if it was his baby! I think your husband should talk to them-be firm because this is a once in a lifetime thing-and surely an hour of his time wont be that disasterous to the company! What a load of absolute bastards-i want to go and tell them off for you-i reckon I'd be quite good actually with these hormones!!!

So here are my name ideas so far.......
Pearl
Olive -Both of these names have caused massive uproar in Truro would you believe?!!
Jessica
Patsy
Bridget
Poppy
Daisy

or boys
Alfie
Jack
Ja
Jamie
Freddy
Jimmy

pavlovthecat · 31/05/2009 15:07

Trikken - awful that your DH can't come, what rotten employers. Some employers just don't realise what they need to do in order to keep staff happy and therefore more productive for you. When DD was born, DH was 1 min late to work. He left after 1 hour as I called him to tell him I was in labour. He was disciplined due to 3 incidents of lateness (defined by when they log on to the computer), one was when DD was born, one was when DD threw up over his shirt and he had to change, thus missing the bus (dd was about 3 weeks old, so he was not used to taking this into account) and once when the bus did not turn up (he worked for the complaints department for said bus company ffs!) Anyway, the fact that they were taking me being in labour into account and not given him any paid holiday for leave with DD being born - his attitude to work was shite. He worked the minimum he could get away with, for as long as he was able until he could get a better job. He refused overtime to help out, he did nothing to go the extra mile. If they had been supportive, he would have worked his ass off and he would be cos effective.

Ideeanna - I have lost weight due to sickness so am still able to wear my pre pregnany clothes, the ones that re hipsters anyway! I do have a bump though.

Trikken · 31/05/2009 15:27

Ideeanna unfortunately he has, hubby tried to raise the conversation about it and asked about his own kids to be told that he missed all their birthdays and the suchlike. The manager has also told him that he spends too much time with the family and not enough at work even tho he only gets one day off and is usually there longer than he gets paid for and does the job of a manager for GA wage. Think he is just unsympathetic git. It is a BIG well known company, so its not like there is no-one to cover even.

katster37 · 31/05/2009 17:16

Ooo just trying to catch up on everything after being away for the weekend!! CAn't believe the weather here, so lovely!

BeckyBL hope you are having fun at the seaside - your boys sound absolutely lovely. I hope mine is as nice!

Some lovely names... Ideanna love all yours - a lot are on our list too. I really like Jack for a boy, but it is always top of the list in popularity which puts DH off. But it is lovely. If we were having a girl we were going to call her Tessa. Which I still love.

Had a nice weekend in Manchester, although felt pretty rough most of the time Really sick, fainty, tired... But then cos I wasn't in my own house, it's much harder to do what you want really, like have a lie down / eat dinner ridiculously early! Had a bbq last night then spent ages worrying about whether I should have eaten a beef burger or not! It was decent beef and looked properly cooked, and haven't felt dodgy 'cos of that so I'm hoping it's ok!

I'm really sure I've been feeling movements too. Feels like a feather tickling from inside, and seems to move around where I detect it! Is that normal? I'm just over 15 weeks but it's my first, so not sure if it's too early.

Right - off to catch up properly!

pinkfizzle · 31/05/2009 21:02

trikken just want to add that I am in re your husband unable to get the time off and the other shocking employers out there.

Ideanna cool names, esp pearl.

Fruitpastels · 31/05/2009 21:14

Just bookmarking. I now need to catch up!

BeckyBendyLegs · 31/05/2009 22:07

Oh my! You lot! What a lot of stuff - mostly about headaches, names, tantrums, more names, puking on the floor, and more names.

We've just got back from Wales today and had the BEST time ever. I even swam in the sea today despite feeling really frumpy and lumpy in my swimmies. It was sooo hot and sunny: my arms are on fire despite wearing the DSs sunblock. Oh we had such a good time we just spent all day for two and a half days on the beach doing nothing except messing about I didn't want to come back.

Katster sorry you've been feeling so rough And sorry for anyone else still suffering - I'm definitely in the 'I don't feel so pregnant' camp.

ursigurke · 01/06/2009 07:41

Good morning ladies!
Had a very nice weekend, went twice to bed around midnight, very proud about it
But I was constantly dressed too cold so now I have a cold.
Trikken I'm really sorry for your husband and you. This is so unfair. There should be a law that the partners can come to a certain number of appointments. I guess it is not necessary to go to all of them but at least the scans!
Katster - I hope you still enjoyed seeing your friend. And I think it is possible that you have already felt the baby. I felt mine at least two weeks ago and it didn't even feel like soft feathers or butterflies. It was more like a twitching muscle. I seem to have a rather strong baby.

sleeplessinthecity · 01/06/2009 09:07

Wow! Tantrums are a nightmare...sorry pavlov..DD is a bit like that at the mo so am thinking of you..

Sickness still there too and it SO should be over by now...am so depressed..

Trikken its absolutely monstrous what your DH's work is like..so so unfair...what will they gain by this behaviour???

katster it sounds like what I felt like the first time around..does it disappear and come back a day later or is it constant?? I'm sure I feel mine now..but very rarely..

Now...I have to tell you lot..my new shoes are GORGEOUS and they all fit!! DH has outdone himself..not only did I get 4, yes 4 pairs of shoes, I got tonnes of make up too..woo hoo!

sleeplessinthecity · 01/06/2009 09:09

ideanna my DD has an old fashioned name..and we love it..and it really suits her.

weston · 01/06/2009 09:38

for the last week my dd has decided to wake up at 5:30am.....7am i can live with but 5:30 is soo early....for those with little darlings any tips or is it just another phase...are those alarm clocks things with bunnies that wake up any good? she was 2 in march so might be too young to get the concept...zzzzzzzzzzzz

Laugs · 01/06/2009 10:29

Morning all. I've been away in London for the weekend, so just catching up on the news. We had a great time, but sooo much travelling between my aunt's house in Finchley and my brother's in Kingston. A bit of a nightmare with the pushchair, but I did get offered a seat on the tube twice, so I'm obviously looking pregnant.

weston I feel for you. DD has started getting up at 6am quite regularly now that it's so light in the morning, but anything before 6 is just hell. I think it might be too early for those alarm clocks. Have you tried blackout blinds? While we were away DD was refusing to go to bed before 10pm. On sat I was out for a hen do, and she was still up when I got in at 11.30. So glad I'm pregnant and so hadn't been drinking - I would really hate her to see me drunk. On the plus side, this morning she has been catching up and slept til 930 - yay!

Love all the names being suggested on here! I made a list at about 5 weeks pregnant, but DH thought it was too early and we haven't really thought about it since. Like everyone else, I have quite a lot of girls names, but less for boys. I sort of feel like you have to be a bit more conservative with boys names, but I don't really want to be! DD is Belle, so we need something to go with that.

sleepless - was it you? - how were the shoes??

Laugs · 01/06/2009 10:31

oh, just seen you've posted above. Want to swap DHs?

Laugs · 01/06/2009 10:38

trikken, so sorry your DH's boss is a tw*t. Have you got anyone else who can go with you? I do feel sorry for men with the whole paternity rights thing, this country just seems so backwards. It may be your body, but it's just as much his baby, so it's ridiculous he should'nt be involved in its ante-natal care. It's like those bosses that call men into work while on paternity leave too, as if they are so indispensible the whole company can't function without them. They can manage to make time for women to have 9 months off, but can't afford to let the man out of the office for 10 days. It makes me mad!

sleeplessinthecity · 01/06/2009 11:05

Weston mine is doing the same.. waking up way too early, but not 5.30am early.. plus I have to leave the door to her room open as its soooo hot here..does she sleep during the day..if so it may be worth cutting this by 15 mins and see if it makes a diff. Also I find if she is very tired at bed time she wakes earlier. Try putting her to bed 15 mins earlier.

laugs....found my DH after a long time..He was the only one to deal with my craziness...so think I'll keep him! BTW I love Belle..it is very similar to mine so think it will be vetoed.

scarlotti · 01/06/2009 11:09

Morning all

sleepless 4 pairs and make up - lucky you. I was feeling quite hard done by but then dh came back from a weekend away with a beautiful amber necklace am a lucky girl.

weston is your dd still sleeping in the day? If so, maybe shorten the nap or if she's still on 2 naps then drop one and move the other to after lunch. We have blackout blinds and now shut ds' door tight otherwise the sunlight in the hallway wakes him up at 6!

tigger32 · 01/06/2009 11:28

Morning all,
Well I've just got back from the midwife after having my bloods taken etc, I'm a bit concerned about my weight now though as the midwife said "oh you don't look like you should weigh that much!" she reweighed me and said "oh, its right" I have put on a fair bit since my 12 week scan I'm going to be huge this time I guess, I'm only half a stone away from what I was full term with the other 2

I really pleased those who have been away have had a good time.
trikken thats a pain about your Dh's boss, I hope you sort something

sleepless glad you are enjoying your shoes

I'm loving all the names suggestions, I'm really stuck for names this time around as we've used all the names that I can think of, unless of course we end up with a girl....

weston My Ds1 used to be a terrible sleeper right up until he was 3 then suddenly he became an angel, we tried so many different techniques, in the end we put a stair gate on his room and told him we would get him when it was time to get up, he used to play then in his room or sometimes would just get back into bed and go back to sleep!
He is now 5 and I have to wake him at 7am most mornings for school, on a weekend he usually wakes between 7.30 and 8am.
I hope you can sort her out soon as you need your sleep!
