Hi all,

back from appt and, apart from the midwife running 1hr late, everything was fine. She felt my tummy and said "hmmm, growing well" which either means the baby is a good size or she's noticed my new addiction to raspberry ripple ice-cream . She had freezing hands which set beanie off wriggling and kicking like mad - she was trying to listen to the heartbeat but she couldn't manage for more than a couple of secs as she said the baby kept wriggling so she kept having to chase it probe/microphone thing.

She has given me a number for a breastfeeding workshop for mums-to-be they run on a sat morning - do you think it will be worth going? I do want to breastfeed but won't they cover that at NCT classes?

Sorry for me me me post . Back later.

sorky · 09/06/2009 14:22

I would go IDOB. Is it free?

Kayzr · 09/06/2009 14:29

IDOB I've been meaning to show you this please come. Please!!!

idreamofbeanie · 09/06/2009 14:49

Hi Kay,

that looks like fun - will be lovely to see you, Freddie and Dylan again. I'm sure I can skip a day at work so I've put a quick post on the thread asking if I can come along. Have you met any of the others?

Kayzr · 09/06/2009 14:59

No I haven't! But it should be good fun!!

Diege · 09/06/2009 16:21

Hello! IDOB, sounds like you have a very active bean in there, and that she may be a good size too!GLASK, long may the nap continue! I've never had one of mine carry on with naps after 18 mths or so, even though I sense they still needed one. I know a few 4 yr olds who still have them, so pefectly normal.
Arghh, my thrush is driving me mad!!! Sorry for tmi, but on top of my achey hips, period cramps and piles this is all I need!!!
Oh and have just spoken to the rudest man on the health in pregnancy grant helpline. Has been 10 wks since I sent my form in and while they've received it can't say when I'll get the money.. At this rate the baby will be here well before the grant!

Diege · 09/06/2009 16:23

Hi TINKS!

SesHasFinallyBecomeAMum · 09/06/2009 18:13

Just back from the hospital. I felt absolutely awful handing him over but DS was v brave and it was all done v quickly. I was feeding him again within 5 mins.
It's difficult to say for certain if there's any improvement but he certainly seemed to feed better and seem more satisfied. I also don't seem to be feeling as sore when feeding - I think he has been clamping his gums against my nipples to stimulate flow instead of using his tongue. I guess I didn't know that it wasn't meant to feel like it did!

Here's to it working for Friday's weigh in!

Diege · 09/06/2009 19:00

That's great news SES - must be a relief that it's done now. I'd give it a few days for both of you to get used to it - don't get too anxious about Friday's weigh-in - it's early days yet!

Moosy · 09/06/2009 19:08

Glad it went well Ses, I hope it makes a difference to you both.

bumpsnowjustplump · 09/06/2009 20:59

Evening all. So pleased it went well for owen today ses, how is he this evening...

I have found a way of getting ds's meds in him wihtout him spitting it back out again. It is barbaric and makes me sad but I have noticed a small improvement with his sickness so it must be working..

Sleep (or lack of) is still an issue and he doesn't sleep during the day either so I never seem to catch up!!

ses are we still on for Thursday or do you want to do it another time?

Hello to everyone else I will try to be on more but just concentrating on ds at the moment as I dont want him to be admitted and messed with!!

Oh yes I saw that NJ of FB at the weekend and managed to speak to her. She is fine and her and dh are trying to sort things out which is why she is awol... I am sure that once she and dh are back on track she be back.

Moosy · 09/06/2009 21:04

What's your trick LB? You can't tease us like that and not tell! Glad the meds are working though

SesHasFinallyBecomeAMum · 09/06/2009 21:04

Thanks Moos & Diege!

IDOB - just to second what the others have said,I'd go to the BF workshop. I tried to absorb as much info about BF as possible and I'm sure it helped with my expectations and mental preparation. I'm really pleased I've done 4 and a bit weeks now and - all being well - hope to continue to at least 6 months. I'm sure I wouldn't have persisted without all the info.

SesHasFinallyBecomeAMum · 09/06/2009 21:09

Ooh! x-posted!

BNJP - Thurs is still fine. I have nothing planned until my cousin comes over about 5pm so come at whatever time suits you - even if you text me on the day. I'll post my mobile no. on FB.
Congrats on getting meds down DS!
Thanks for the NJ update - that sounds good.

bumpsnowjustplump · 09/06/2009 21:14

moosy I lay him down on the floor, so he is flat. Squirt it into his cheeks and physicaly hold his mouth shut and blow on his face until he swallows. I have to do it in small squirts but it works. He screams and it isn't nice but at least he swallows

Moosy how are you feeling now? Do you have a bit more energy now.

Ses great I am really looking forward to it!!!!

Moosy · 09/06/2009 22:15

Sounds like a good plan LB, I remember waiting for DD1 to cry really hard each time so I could squirt it down her throat whatever works!

Feeling much better today thanks, I'm awake past 9pm!

bumpsnowjustplump · 09/06/2009 22:18

I feel really mean moosy but am so determined that they will not be sticking any tube down my babys throat in 5 weeks time.... And the only way to do that is to make sure he takes the meds eats well and puts on weight.... I am also dairy free at the moment so hope this will help him!!

Kayzr · 10/06/2009 07:54

Morning,

I hope you all had good nights, DS2 woke at 6 instead of 5 this morning!!

We're off shopping in the next town which is a bit bigger. Mum works there so we are getting a lift. I'm hoping to find a nice rabbit hutch.

Hope you are all ok.

Sparklytwinkletoes · 10/06/2009 08:05

Morning all... am struggling a bit at the moment, with pg hormones. Possibly not struggling as much as DH is . I'm fed up of feeling fed up and keep bursting into tears - I'm assuming this is all par for the course at 23 weeks? I don't remember this stage particularly from last time (and it was quite a long time ago).

Most of the tears seem to revolve around my home, I'm desperately trying to get it clean and tidy, and whilst I feel like I'm constantly cleaning and tidying, every room looks like a small whirlwind has been through it. Even when I get all mine and DS' stuff straightened out, there's just soooo much of DH' crap everywhere, that I can't complete it - if I touch his stuff, he goes nuts and it seems it doesn't matter how many times or in how many different ways I ask, he's really not interested in clearing it up. And I just don't understand it, the not tidying I mean, can't he see its a mess? and if he can't, can't he see its upsetting me? Surely at least one of these should spur him on.

Now he's starting to spin out 'but I've been at work all day, didn't have time for a lunc break etc'... Great. I wonder how long this will go on for.

We need to decide by tomorrow what hours we're going to keep DS in nursery for July, he wouldn't even talk about it last night. Guess that's a decision I'll be making on my own.

Don't get me wrong, everything else is fine - its just the bloody house and housework that's really getting to me. He stopped contributing as much when I started paying for cleaners when I worked full time, even though it all still needed tidying I'd be the one that did it all. Now that I'm not working the contributions have fallen off the radar altogether. Grrrr.

Sorry.

Morning all, as you were .

sorky · 10/06/2009 08:56

I would like permission to rant please? I don't do it very often but I'm going nutty over it and it's so small a thing it's ridiculous!

Right....
I watched a tv programme (I don't watch tv usually, at all) on "why won't my child sleep?" It's a pertinent topic for us atm

Anyway, I ended up shouting at the telly at all the weak-assed simpletons who "can't cope anymore"
Dh looked me absolutely stunned that I was shouting at said tv, only to receive a foul-mouthed tirade himself.
Don't poke the angry bear, is the lesson he learned.

Why do these people need to go to specialists to be told actually the problem is you, you're crap! (in so many words)

With the exception of the little boy who had narcolepsy , they were just shit at putting their kids to bed.

They had a sleep-walking 3 yo, who had the gate on her bedroom door open! She had just moved to a new house and was waking several times a night. JUST TAKE THE BLOODY CHILD INTO BED WITH YOU!!!! She's frightened about the changes, she's stressed that you're both fighting over her, SHE"S THREE FFS!

and don't even get me started on the 7yo who didn't want to sleep until 1am
useless feckers!

Sleep, as you may be able to tell, is rather pre-occupying me atm

i had to apologise to Dh obv , whilst he phsl at me.

as you were, I just needed to get that out.

....sleep deprivation, my arse!

sorky · 10/06/2009 09:16

Happy Birthday GYo !

Diege · 10/06/2009 09:19

Morning! Wow, some wagon salve needed today
SORKY, I also saw bits of the programme you're talking about, but got stressed out with it that I turned off so never saw the end. I think you're right, it is parenting technique that's to blame, and I don't think parents realise sometimes that for routines etc to be established you can't just give it a couple of days. Can see how all the issues are heightened when you're in the midst of a sleep crisis yourself! Dare I ask how last niught was??
SKK, bleedin' hell give me that dh of yours for a few hours and I'll get him trained!! Sounds like the problem stems from him seeing the household stuff as fundamentally your responsibility, even when you're at work (I notice you say YOU paid for a cleaner). I feel for you, as sadly it's something that will come back again and again, esp when baby is born, and needs nipping in the bud now if possible (sorry to sound so negative). He's got to stop behaving like a kid and recognise that you're a team. OK, rant over, but is a subject close to my heart. We're pretty much 50/50 at home, but still haven't sorted dh's hoarding and piles of clothes in bathroom/top of stairs etc etc
KAYZ, enjoy your shopping trip! I have noticed they sell hutches online at Pets at Home - might be worth a peek? There is something nice about seeing one first though and buying all the kit.
Feeling a bit ropey here - bad tummy (again) so much so that dh has done school run and is coming back from work early to pick them up because heavy rain is forcast and I don't have a waterproof coat that fastens!!! (obv dh is at 'final stage training' SKK ).
Hope I don't feel worse as meeting friend in town, and I will see her twins for the first time!
Take care everyone!

Diege · 10/06/2009 09:21

Ooh yes, Happy Birthday GYO!! Will try my best to go into labour today . Have you anything nice planned?
