Hi IDOB
Good luck at your appointment. Even though i can feel him, I still find hearing the HB reassuring/soothing. In fact even more so, because there's no panic while the mw is looking and possibly not finding the hb right away. I know he's fine, IYSWIM, and last time I actually helped her find the hb because I could tell her where he was kicking (actually she could SEE where he was kicking! )

When you say stiff, do you mean achy or numb? I get sore from time to time and I just put that down to stretching/growing pains/added pressure on joints. But a few times various bits have been numb - I was only on the train for about 15 mins the other day and when I got off I could hardly walk as my bum cheek was completely numb! I think that might be down to circulation being slightly inhibited by the extra pressure on your lower arteries?? TBH, I find it difficult enough to find a comfortable position to sleep in that I dont' feel I can even worry about whether or not it's the 'recommended' position for optimum whatever - I figure if I'm asleep then I can't be doing much damage

Kay - I agree with IDOB, your friend will be fine. He's probably worried he offended you instead!

sorky · 09/06/2009 11:27

it took us 10 months to conceive dd1 and we were advised by OB to try within the first year for another baby as fertility is meant to be higher.

We fell pg when she was 11 months, after that we never had any probs.

I think there's pros m cons for all age gaps depending on how many children you want and how old you are, diege said.

idreamofbeanie · 09/06/2009 11:31

Hey LBOT, that's just how I feel. I can just enjoy hearing the heartbeat without any of the worry. My back is more stiff and achy than numb - like your legs feel after a long bike ride, just tight and like it needs to warm up and relax a bit. I think it's probably just sleeping in a bad position.

Kayzr · 09/06/2009 11:32

I quite like my age gap. It is 21 months and it has been hard but I imagine any age gap is hard. My cousin has 4 years between her 2 DDs and she said it was really hard because her DD1 was so used to having her all to herself.

Plus DD2 was born at the end of August and then DD1 started school 4 days after her sister was born. She thought that her parents were trying to get rid of her.

Diege · 09/06/2009 11:34

Hi IDOB! The stiffness you describe sounds a little like the sciatia I got, but then the pain travelled down to back of leg too - sure LBOX is right in saying it's just circulatory/adjustments to growing pressure on nerves etc!
Hi LBOX! I've also goven up on 'optimal' sleep positions, as sleep is so elusive. Usually end up on right side, which I know is the 'wrong' one . Goodness knows how women got on with their pregnancies before we knew about this useless information!
KAYZ, agree with LBOX, he's probably worried that he's offended YOU!
Internet shoppiong very frutiful, although feeling a little nauseous over how much I've spent . In the style of TINK I got...2 bf vests, 2 high-waisted pairs of support knickers (come on SES, dump the grannies!!), then had a bit of an 'Oilily' moment (my secret crush) and bought a changing bag, baby outfit and soft toy for pram. Finally onto topshop and bought shoes (for me!), and also a cute baby suit and hat.
Phew! Actually waiting in for delivery from Bbaies R Us - moses basket mattress and sheets. Think this is my equivalent of nesting

Diege · 09/06/2009 11:36

x-posts SORKY! How are things? Any imrpovement on the sleep front?

lastboxoftampons · 09/06/2009 11:42

Kay - my aunt is 21 months older than me and I'm 21 months older than my brother and we all grew up/played together and we're still all pretty close. I guess that's why I think starting TTC when #1 is a year old is ideal - 12 months + 9 months = 21 months

Kayzr · 09/06/2009 11:47

Well DS2 was concieved on DS1's birthday!!

lastboxoftampons · 09/06/2009 11:48

perfect!

sorky · 09/06/2009 11:57

getting a bit better Diege thanks
Shop sounds good

20 mo gap is the best for me, hardest until ds reached 15 mo but they are very close. I have a 3 year gap between ds's and it's not as good. We chose a close gap between ds2 n dd2 so they would have the same closeness

Did Davina yesterday and god do I hurt today!!!
Still if I want my abs back I'm facing some pain

Kayzr · 09/06/2009 12:02

Sorky, get wii fit!! It is brilliant. I did it yesterday and I really ache today.

sorky · 09/06/2009 12:20

I have seen the advert for it with louise redknap, post-baby, and have been thinking about it Kayz, but I've promised Dh I'll cut down my spending.
Last month I got through £500 with very little to show for it and he pays my credit card every month so he wasn't thrilled.
I have to reign myself in until I go back to work. Davina will have to do 'til then, I'm running 3 miles alternate days too, so it should see me back in my full wardrobe soon.

My birthday is in July, so maybe he'll spring for one then

Kayzr · 09/06/2009 12:26

Is Davina any good? Been thinking about getting it.

sorky · 09/06/2009 12:39

Very!
Easy to do, kills the next day. 3 times a week, def results in a month. I guarantee it!

After I'm fit with davina I'll move up to Nell McAndrews DVD, not for the faint-hearted.

glaskham · 09/06/2009 12:54

sorry- still awol a fair bit- trying to keep up but not getting much time to post.

DC's are keeping me very busy... aswell as listing loads of bits on ebay too. Have had a massive clear-out of the house and wanna empty it asap so did car-boot at w/end, and listing lots of clothes on ebay.

will get back on asap.

sorky · 09/06/2009 12:59

Ooh what are you selling Glask?

glaskham · 09/06/2009 13:04

nothing too exiting... mainly clothes... my maternity clothes that no-one on here wanted, some next clothes, and DD's premmy clothing. Have taken 3 bin bags of stuff to the chairty shop today, and still have another 3 to take... also have a fair amount of shoes to decide wether to sell or give to the charity shop....

sorky · 09/06/2009 13:11

Must feel good that she's outgrown the preemie stuff

glaskham · 09/06/2009 13:14

yeah she's currently between new baby size and newborn... so she's definatley grown. when i was ironing the premmie stuff this morning it was actually hard to believe she ever fit into half of it!!

Though now she's the average size of a newborn at around 7lb9oz (as of last friday) everyone keeps thinking shes a brand new baby when she's actually nearly 4mths old!! Its really irritating having to explain to everyone!!

glaskham · 09/06/2009 13:19

right- (as usual for me right now) i'm off to get the DC's a nap. DD2 had me up every hour from midnight onwards for a feed which she's been like for the last 2/3weeks...

and on top of that DS is missing his nap for the next 2 days as he's on a nursery trip tomorrow then on thursday we're taking them to blackpool tower for my birthday. He's currently throwing stuff round his bedroom screaming as he's so 'over-tired.... is it normal for a 4 and a half year old to still need a nap?? without it he'll be so angry and unbearable to deal with come 5-6pm!! so he needs a good hours nap to keep him going till bedtime....

glaskham · 09/06/2009 13:24

he's starting to calm himself down now... and i think i can hear him putting his mess away... normal routine for him before he climbs into bed to sleep...

I have tried changing bedtime to earlier but then he gets up even earlier in the morning... and he will sleep from 7.30pm (goes to bed at 7pm) till 6.30am (but stays in his room playing till 7am)... with an earlier bedtime he'd only see DH on his days off, so 2 days a week which isn't enough really... and it doesn't make for better sleeping at nights, plus i then have to deal with an unbearable little boy for a couple of hours in an afternoon which really tries my patience...

he's always needed his nap but in the last couple of months (dare i even say since DD2 arrived) he's been like the child from hell....

glaskham · 09/06/2009 13:25

how many tiems can i post to myself without looking insane??!!

right i am off now. will probs come back later as i still need to do some more listings on ebay.

sorky · 09/06/2009 13:41

All of mine have dropped their naps before 2.5 yo! So I think you're doing really well to have a 3yo still napping.

Getting ready for swim lessons here. Got to prepare veg for tea tonight as I won't have time when we get back.

Good luck with ebaying

Kayzr · 09/06/2009 13:44

DH has just home and nope he hasn't been given another day off!!

Kayzr · 09/06/2009 13:47

Glask, DS1 occasionally has a nap but more often than not he goes without.
