Hi SKK! Great to hear that work has sorted itself it - must be a huge weight off your mind! Let us know about your consultant's birth plan talks, then we of the wagon can rip them to pieces advise

Diege · 08/06/2009 16:04

Oh and I can finally focus on my 'to do' list - I've finished my final piece of marking for work so am now officially a lady of leisure until January!

SesHasFinallyBecomeAMum · 08/06/2009 16:10

Hello Diege! Is that bag packed??!

STT - great to hear from you. I'm pleased things are sounding a bit more positive.

Diege · 08/06/2009 16:43

Hi SES! How are things? Yes, bag(s) packed, although I keep on adding things as I remember them. I have just written my birth plan too, so all ready now!

julesisoneyearolder · 08/06/2009 16:46

kay - toy boxes r great both dds have wooden ones in there bedrooms

sorry for pram trouble

sparkly - sounds like you are very organized

dd1s school teachers just visited us to see dd1 in her home enviroment, we filled out forms. have rest of uniform.

Sparklytwinkletoes · 08/06/2009 21:25

Diege, bags packed?! Crikey - where did that time go?!

Jules - not sure 'organised' is a word my hubby would use to describe me, I started off the day soooo well, but it deteriorated somewhat around mid afternoon - I think I had a big wilt!

Oh well, I'm going to start up a 'to do' list and at some point, I need to have a think about how to plan my time during a week, especially as having spoken to job agencies, it looks like the way forward is going to be a complete change from FT WOHM to SAHM.... am a bit nervous, which probably seems odd to everyone who does it normally, but its a whole new way of life... think that's probably what's scared me into my 'to do lists'!

I've not got time now, have to scoot, but will pop back on tomorrow to 'chat' about what the consultant said v what the midwife said v what I want if anyone's around!

Night all x

Diege · 08/06/2009 21:53

Just doing the evening wagon check! Off to bed in a minute, and shattered because of my new regime of getting dds bags done for school, all clothes ready in pile, packed lunches done BEFORE I go to bed, just in case anything starts in the night. That way I won't have the worry of trying to locate socks etc mid way through a contraction!

SKK, looking forward to hearing about the birth plan tomorrow. FWIW I can understand how scary the move from WOHM to SAHM must be - I've never considered giving up work myself, but could sort of imagine how it would change things on so many levels (not least being more knackered!). Do you plan on staying at home until something turns up, or is this a permanent change?
Right, just the drink bottles to do then bed I think! Night all!

Sparklytwinkletoes · 08/06/2009 22:42

Lol Diege, I must be tired, after reading the first paragraph I had to have another couple of goes to work out why you were putting socks in the children's lunchboxes !

Provided this DC is fit and healthy, the general plan is to go back to work after the previously booked 'maternity leave' has ended, so around September next year. Which hopefully will be a better time for job seeking anyway. But, so much could change between now and then anyway, who knows!

I haven't exactly been missing work since I finished, and that was six weeks ago!!!! I can't believe that much time has passed! I suppose the first three weeks or so I was really busy, at least mentally, working out what to do, sorting out solicitors etc and also doing loads of long overdue jobs around the house - although you wouldn't believe that from looking around the place now . I think I need to spend some time on the 'good housekeeping' threads, trying to pick up some tips on how this is all supposed to work, without doing so much that I get bored or so little that we descend into a pit.... .

Ho hum....

I'm rambling aren't I - bloody insomnia, I'll be cream crackered in the morning and I'm supposed to be going swimming, but am I bloody tired now - am I heck!

Oh the joys of pg! Actually, I still seem to be getting off lightly compared to last time, except that Braxton Hicks seem to have started (will be 23 weeks tomorrow and didn't get them till 30+ last time) and they are quite niggly. Seem very frequent too - anyone got any thoughts on that? I have read that it can be a sign of doing too much?

SesHasFinallyBecomeAMum · 09/06/2009 08:43

Morning!

DS is having his tongue tie snipped this afternoon. I really hope it does the trick as my nipples are getting really sore again as he's constantly hungry and keeps slipping off the breast and nipple feeding. Frustrating for both of us. I've just smothered myself in Lasinoh and I've just about got through one tube in the 4 weeks since he was born.

Diege - glad bags are packed! Also appreciative of your evening check-in! Could the wagon request an hourly check-in? (Maybe not!)

We're waiting for our last NCT baby. It was due on Sunday. So far we have 3 girls and 2 boys. This last mum to be was having curry last night...

How's everyone else this morning? Hope good nights sleep have been had?

Diege · 09/06/2009 08:47

Morning! Feeling knackered today (for a change) after waking at 4 and not being able to get back to sleep - so annoying! This is my first day without any 'work' work to do, so have a tidy of the utility room planned...

STT, don't worry about the bh. It's normal for them to start earlier in each subsequent pregnancy. I think this time mine started at about 15 weeks, and like you I got a lot and they were very frequent. I remember 24 weeks being a 'peak', and since then they petered off a bit in terms of how many I was having an hour. Having one now as I type actually, and a lot more painful these days!
Hope everyone is well and some of us have had good nights!.

Diege · 09/06/2009 08:50

x-posts SES! Good luck for this afternoon - think you've def made the right decision. In my sleep-induced haze I misread initially as something to do with your dh (the 'snip' that is ). On sore nipples front, I always found kamillison (?) cream very good when bf, although does pong a bit! On the issue of cream etc, can I ask you if it's ok to use caneston pessaries during pregnancy, or just the cream?

SesHasFinallyBecomeAMum · 09/06/2009 08:57

They are only licensed to be given on prescription during pg (ie not sold) however there is no logical reason why they would cause any harm unless you've lost any show or waters.

LOL at DH having the snip! Not if either of us have annything to do with it! We did have the conversation the other day about age gap. DH said about 3yrs. I'll have to see how I can persaude him to make that nearer 18 months to 2yrs...!

Diege · 09/06/2009 09:13

Thanks SES! That's interesting - will get a prescription rather than send dh to Boots then! On age gap, I found my 16 month gap the best, in terms of me still being in 'baby mode' plus dds 1& 2 are so close. People often say they seem more like twins in their closeness, and even at 6 and 7 will instinctively hold hands when walking down the street etc. From what I've read, a gap 22 months or under, or over 4 years, is said to guarantee the least sibling rivalry, but my 3 yr gap between dd2 and 3 was good too - very much down to the individual situation and personal choice, as with most things in life!

Kayzr · 09/06/2009 09:28

Morning,

Meal went well last night. I made far too much though so we are having it for lunch too!

We had a huge row this morning though Work rang and asked him to work this morning despite this being his only day off this week. So the only day he can spend with the boys, he has also been asked to work next tuesday which is his day off so I have told him that he has to tell them he won't work it now.

So a bit pissed off this morning.

julesisoneyearolder · 09/06/2009 09:32

morning glad meal went well kay
oh no sorry for row

Diege · 09/06/2009 09:47

KAYZ, I would be cross too . Is there anyway he can swop his day off, or are they expecting him to drop it altogether?
Morning TINKS!How are things? Did you get the contraception dilemma sorted out?
Off to do a bit of internet shopping - some big support knickers and bf vests for after the birth!

Kayzr · 09/06/2009 09:49

They will expect him to drop it all together. They are like that. We were meant to be going to look at rabbit hutches. I might go alone as DS1 is really playing up this morning.

SesHasFinallyBecomeAMum · 09/06/2009 10:05

Kay - v frustrating! Are you looking at rabbit hutches for a rabbit you have or are you thinking of getting one? I used to have a rabbit - v cute

Diege - LOL at support pants I need to graduate to those as still in big granny knickers that don't sit on my scar and are nice and roomy!

Kayzr · 09/06/2009 10:09

We're thinking of getting one. DS1 loves Mum's rabbit so we thought it would be good fo him. Especially as he still goes round looking for our puppy like 4 months after she left!!

SesHasFinallyBecomeAMum · 09/06/2009 10:18

Aww! They are v good pets. If you want DS to be able to stroke it then just make sure you pick it up and handle it lots from the beginning and it will then be quite happy. The other tip I'd give you is to use a mix of fresh carrots/lettuce and pellets for food and not the nice looking multi-coloured flakes/seed mix. The latter isn't so good for their teeth and may risk having to get their teeth filed.

Kayzr · 09/06/2009 10:27

Thanks Ses, I am really looking forward to getting one.

Our trip to look at hutches has been cancelled by a monsoon!! It is chucking it down here!!

lastboxoftampons · 09/06/2009 10:55

Morning

Glad your dinner went well, Kay, but so sorry for your argument. It's so frustrating when work gets in the way of life, IYSWIM?

Ses good luck with Owen's snip today. Hope he doesn't even flinch! Did they say it might take some time for him to recover or should you seen an improvement right away?

I like the idea of a 2-year age gap - I tried to talk to DH about it one day and he was slightly overwhelmed at the idea of talking TTC when #1 is still cooking and wouldn't have the conversation. But I think starting TTC when the first is a year old is ideal. It's just so unpredictable though, isn't it? When all was said and done it took us 10 months to conceive and stay pregnant, so I suppose there's no planning!

Hi STT - you sound very on top of things. Can imagine the idea of being a SAHM is daunting - we're still not sure what we're going to do.

Kayzr · 09/06/2009 10:56

I think I might have upset a friend of mine. I post on FB about being annoyed about DH going to work. He then said I could use the money for computer games(I admit now I love love my games). I then said I am more interested in my boys seeing their Daddy. His DD lives in Australia and he never sees her. Ooops

idreamofbeanie · 09/06/2009 11:01

Morning all,

Kayz - that's really irritating . Does this happen a lot? Good luck looking for a rabbit and hutch. We had rabbits and guinea pigs as kids and loved it.

Diege - how exciting to be officially finished work. I hope you got everything you needed on the net.

Ses - good luck for today. I hope DSs tongue snip makes things easier for him and your poor sore nipples!

Hi STT - I'm glad you got everything sorted out with work and can now relax and enjoy being a pregnant lady of leisure.

Hi Jules - what do you have planned for today.

Well I am off to my 24 week midwife appt in about 30min. I'm looking forward to hearing the heartbeat again but it's not such a big deal now that she is kicking and wriggling away so I'm sure she must be fine. I must ask her about my stiff back - I keep waking up and my lower back and bum feel really tight and a bit stiff. I don't know if I am sleeping awkwardly as I don't really like sleeping on my side or if it is a general lack of fitness/flexibility + growing bump? Did anyone else have this? Any tips? It eases off once I am up and about but I don't want it to get any worse.

idreamofbeanie · 09/06/2009 11:07

Morning LBOT - x-posted. DP is the same, he won't even think about number 2 until this LO is here. I'm not really 'planning' our second but I don't want beanie to be an only child so I have thought about age gaps. I think a 3 year age gap would be nice but that could just be because a couple of friends had LOs who were VERY challenging at around 2yrs old (still lovely kids but very hard work with loads of tantrums) so the thought of having a newborn too is scary. Like you say though you never know how long it will take so I don't want to leave it too long.

Kayz - don't worry, I'm sure he will understand you didn't mean anything by it.
