BNJP - oh no! Awful night for you
Hope DS meds stay down today and start to help.

Morning Kay & Sorky!

Jules - let us know how Britney was. They said on the news she mimed.

Diege - hope meeting with doula goes well.

Well I'm glad I Sky+ed The Apprentice as I had d&v last night. Came on quit suddenly and violently but was gone by bedtime although still got a bit of a sensitive stomach. Think it must have been something I'd eaten. Probably won't have helped with my calorie intake for DS weight gain but at least it seems to have passed.

DS has us GP appointment this morning. Diege, I agree -don't know quite what all these appointments achieve and it's a different GP to Monday so yet again no continuity. Just hope she does a quick check over and lets us carry on as we are.

GYo · 04/06/2009 09:06

Morning all

Sorry for bad night LB, hope you can perahps get a lie down during the day today.

Ses- sorry for D&V, really hard going when feeding during the night. It wont affect your milk at all. What you eat/ drink has no effect on quality of milk.

I was cross having found this out after I ate SHED loads to help DD's gain!

Kayz, yay for the car!

Hi Sorky, how was your night ?

OP posts:
Diege · 04/06/2009 09:07

Morning . Oh LB that sounds horrendous I don't know what to suggest really, other than trying to take naps if at all possible, just to get yourself throguh the day. Perhaps the LOs will be tired themsleves after the goings on in the night? I won't spill who's through...
SES, poor you with d&v At least you've got apprentice taped! (small consolation I know).
Morning SORKY! Have been wondering about Nat too - have you heard at all KAYZ??
All ok here - had almist constant bh yesterday eveining, until about 10, but themn slept from midnight till 6.30 without wee break or gaviscon!!! Have doula here at 10, dh here too (wfh ). He's stressed out about work and isn't half taking it out on the rest of us...Anyway, is a lovely day and dreading looking forward to finding out the position of LO this afternoon at midwifes!
Oh and we have decided at last on a boy's name that we are both happy with - Jacob, so that's another worry ticked off the list!

GYo · 04/06/2009 09:07

that is calorie content of milk. Clearly some foods affect the milk etc!

OP posts:
Diege · 04/06/2009 09:09

Sorry LB that 'I won't spill who's through' ref was for SES re the Apprentice!! Bloody moveable mouse!

GYo · 04/06/2009 09:09

Ah lovely name Diege!
Great for good stretch of sleep without heartburn etc. Hang on til next wednesday so you can give birth on my birthday!

Good luck with the doula and birth plan.

Hi GYO!

GYo · 04/06/2009 09:14

We are having trouble keeping DD in her swaddle at night she tends to get her arms out, not sure if this means she is ready to go without.

Those who've swaddled what age did you stop and did you just go cold turkey?

OP posts:
Diege · 04/06/2009 09:16

Gyo, re: swadding I took my lead off gf who suggests doing the underarm swaddle from about 12 weeks (I think - would need to check), so they still feel secure but have some freedom of movement. I think I gave it up all together and had dds in baby grobags from about 6 months.

GYo · 04/06/2009 09:19

Thanks Diege, think we need to get her into her cot first as she will bang her arms on the crib bars as it's quite narrow.

Maybe one thing at a time!

OP posts:
Diege · 04/06/2009 10:00

That sounds a good idea GYO. Thinking back I think the dds were in their cots from about 12 weeks, and that's when I changed the swaddling from over shoulder to underarm. Agree, the arm thing is a pain and it was the thrashing about against the bars that would wake mine up!

sorky · 04/06/2009 10:04

If she's regularly getting out of her swaddle you can try swaddling under her arms or just switch to a grobag. If she's banging her arms on the crib and waking up it's time to lose the crib GYo.
Can you move the cot into your room?

sorky · 04/06/2009 10:10

Diege our kiddies are the same ages aren't they?

What bed routines do you have for yours because since the light nights came in mine are going later and later and it's all gone to pot. They're 7, 5 & 2.
Do they go at the same time?

GYo · 04/06/2009 10:19

Thanks Diege and Sorky

She only escapes swaddle when in vest only under the swaddle as her slippery arms get out very easily. She seems to only do it once awake before I wake up anyway, but agree its time for her to move on up to the cot.

We cant get the cot in our room but planning to move her to her room v soon. We are just waiting to sort out the temperature and black out blind in her room as its like a furnace at the moment. Will be very odd not having her next to me anymore but equally I cant wait to have our room back, miss not being able to cuddle up with DH in bed and chat before we go to sleep

I know the guidelines are 6mths to keep baby with you, does anyone actually do this? Everyone in my NCT has moved their babies to another room already.

OP posts:
bumpsnowjustplump · 04/06/2009 10:26

I have to day I kept dd in my room till 6 months and will be doing the same with ds as well... DS wont stop crying I am getting to the end of my tether today...

lastboxoftampons · 04/06/2009 10:54

Oh BNJP, Is there any way you can get some help today? I'm so sorry you had such a crap night. {{{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}} Here have a brownie.

LOVE the name, Diege! adorable!!!

Ses, poor you! Glad you're feeling a bit better, good luck at the GP today - hope they leave you alone from now on!

Hello everyone else

SesHasFinallyBecomeAMum · 04/06/2009 11:32

Aaarrgh!
Saw GP. I've always thought this particular GP too thorough and after today she definitely is!!
She's acknowledged he's put on 1.5oz in 48 hrs and seems healthy in every other way but she's referred us to the paediatrician at the hospital and said they'll probably suggest formula top up. On way there now.
If they do suggest formula I'm going to tell them I want to hold off til next weigh in on Monday.

sorky · 04/06/2009 11:48

Ah shite LB!
What are you going to do?
Is he perhaps overtired as well? I wonder whether a FF would do anything? Perhaps not, but I guess anything is worth a shot when it's misery all round

A very nice, strong name there Diege, glad you agree

GYo my first 2 slept in a separate room from 3 weeks old.
Ds2 co-slept (in our bed) for 1 year, major sleep probs.
Dd2 co-sleeping atm but in a crib, then next to me after 3am feed.
Once she drops her night feed she'll have her own room. Nothing to do with SIDS btw, I'm simply lazy

I can honestly say I've never paid the slightest bit of attention to any SIDS guidelines/advice. I do what I think is best, sometimes it's the same, sometimes not.

Good luck with the Paed appt Ses. If they give him the all clear I would stop getting him weighed, in all honesty.

lastboxoftampons · 04/06/2009 12:17

Ses ! If he's gained 1.5oz in last two days, what is the problem!?!?!? good luck at paediatrician, and if you're happy with his progression, I think you should just take their advice with a grain of a salt and continue as you were. Good luck.

Kayzr · 04/06/2009 12:20

GYo, I had DS1 in our room until he was 7 months and DS2 will be going in his room soon. But it is full of junk important stuff!!

Diege, I love the name!!! Brilliant!

Sorky, DB doesn't have a family. He has a fiancee and she lives in Macclesfield. We've said that once we have both passed we will share it until one of us can afford to buy a car.

Not heard from Nat, I have sent her a few texts but no response.

Ses, Hope it goes well with the paed.

BJNP, Hope things pick up this afternoon.

Hope everyone is ok!

GYo · 04/06/2009 12:27

Thanks Sorky, good to know. I am also lazy at thought of having to go and feed in spare room rather than just lifting DD out of crib into my arms doesnt make me thrilled but it will be better for her.

Ses- im really feeling for you. I really second Sorky's comment- if he is given all clear consider stop weighing him for a fortnight or so, or even longer.

DD and I were visibly better after I was discharged by the MW and the constant worry of the next weigh in was hanging over me went away. I was v fortunate and have a v relaxed HV who was in communication with a doctor who was sensible and said she trusted my instinct that nothing was wrong with her.

Sending lots of non wagonesque hugs and extra nice batch of warm brownies from the oven.

FWIW, think DD was finding her own weight. She was almost twice the size of some of her NCT peers but now they are bigger despite being only a week or so older.

Have you considered cranial osteopathy? I found it very helpful and the lady was lovely to chat to whilst she was treating DD

Sorry getting off my soapbox

Hi LBOT!

OP posts:
bumpsnowjustplump · 04/06/2009 12:36

I can second osteopathy have done it with both mine and helped with colic etc. Doesn't help with reflux though unfortunatly. DS is finally sleeping in his chair which i have put infront of washing machine. I have had to put the washing machine on with no washing in it as I have done it all!!! Still anything for a bit of piece.

DD has done her best to annoy me as well, she has had two wee's today one on the kitchen floor and one on the lounge carpet... needless to say she is now in a nappy... I cant cope with that right now.

Ses the paed will not take any crap and if he belives that the HV is being over cautions he will say so and get him to put it in the red book... Let us know how it goes... Cant believe I had to wait two months for a paed appointment and you get one in a few hours

julesluvedbritney · 04/06/2009 14:32
