Came on expecting pages and pages to catch up on, but it's so quiet. Like febes I assumed everyone must be in labour! minimenace and belgian do hope you will be soon...

Dandy sounds like interesting things are happening! Hope all goes well if so. And thanks for adding me to the fb group too. A few lovely pics there but when I get time I will be sending friend requests to others too, so I can see your beautiful bumps & babes on your own pages too.

Well off to bed promptly now after what turned out to be a lovely evening eating dinner in the garden for dh's birthday. Exhausted myself cooking it but so nice to do. Blotted your bakewell cake went down a treat. Early start tomorrow but should e a blissfully easy day - dd at nursery, lunch with other mum friends and a free afternoon - so looking forward to finally chilling out a bit!

Jennster · 10/05/2009 21:34

Still pregnant. No more contractions.

Belgianchocolates · 10/05/2009 21:35

chocbunnies That happened with me when I was pregnant with DS. Don't worry, it'll get fixed soon .

I'm a bit restless at the moment. Can't concentrate on doing 1 things. Don't know what's the matter with me .

flippineck · 10/05/2009 21:39

It is quiet tonight!

Still getting laods of tightenings...really beginning to wonder now if this is the start of something!! Not regular or consistent, but a lot more than up til now. Probably going for a bath soon, after I've finished my cup of raspberry leaf tea.

Momino · 10/05/2009 21:43

it has been a quiet day on here. i'm just here to say good night. luckily, i'm still in my pyjamas so no effort there.

family has returned including dog who barely even acknowledged the new baby. better this way. and when he started barking loudly, Harper didn't even flinch.

girls had been at MIL's party last night so we got the aftermath this evening from lack of sleep, too much cake... took them ages to settle tonight.

chocolatebunnies, that is bad timing. any chance of fixing or do you need to get a new one?

sounds like tonight may be a good labour night for some. I'm hoping to wake up to some good news .

hope everyone sleeps well. x

Phew! stopping sorting for the night.. I now have a huge black bag for the charity shop.. lots more for ebay.

i also got all of ds's snuggly/rattly little baby toys unpacked [awwww], unpacked the stock pile of nappies and little mobile amongst other things into the now almost ready baby room.. quite excited as it's now starting to look like a proper nursery again

I too am now the most pregnant I've ever been.. my cs with ds was between 38 & 39wks.. I'm now 39+2 so now in completely uncharted territory.. got app with mw tomorrow and hoping still no sign of pe as it was after my 36wk app that it appeared with ds.. so keeping my fingers crossed.

I've no signs of anything atm .. quite depressing in a way.. but due date isn't until friday so a little time to go. sods law I kick off on sat and end up in labour on my birthday!?

daizydoo · 10/05/2009 21:52

Hi there,

All the best Cote and Pula. Glad you're feeling better Jael and sending lots of labour vibes to those niggling or overdue!!

You might remember that I was really worried about giving birth as ds1 was 10lb and the labour quite difficult, well all I can say is that this labour was COMPLETELY different!!

I went to bed about 10.15pm on Friday night (Dh was in the spare room as apparently my snoring was sooo bad ) I read and a few mins later I felt a pop in my pelvis. I thought it was my SPD, but now believe it was my waters, although there was no gush! Then I started getting contractions every 7mins or so. It took me a few goes before I realised what it was. I then decided to have a bath and take some paracetamol, but that did nothing, so I came downstairs and used an online contraction monitor. I then realised that the contractions were every 3-5mins, by this point I had the Tens machine on. I phoned the labour ward who told me to go in, so phoned my parents and dad stayed to babysit and mum took Dh and I in (she used to work in this unit). It was only about 5-10min drive to the hospital! The midwife began clerking me in, but I wasn't a happy bunny - the contractions were really strong and I wanted an epidural!! Eventually the the midwife examined me and said that I couldn't have an epidural as I was 10cm and ready to give birth . Jasper was born not long after. I have to say I didn't cope well with the pain and was rather loud. So much so that mum told me later that I'd upset one of the other ladies giving birth in the room next to me I tore, the midwife thinks that its along my old episitomy scar. A couple of hours later I was upstairs in a single room (the perk of having my mum around!!)

I feel like I've been hit by a bus, but feel much better than after ds1's birth. Struggling to breastfeed, but it's getting better. My grandmother is telling all and sundry that she's disappointed that Jasper isn't a girl I'll let her off as a. she's 95 and b. she's not often wrong about the sex of a baby!!
For all those who haven't decided on a name - don't worry neither had we. Well we had a girl's name, so had to decide a boys one after he was born. I'm not 100% sure about his name, but was the same with ds1, I think it takes time to get used to!! Anyhow off to try and get some kip - good night all.

Jennster · 10/05/2009 22:00

Lovely to hear your story Daisy. There is still hope I'll be 10cm dilated without realising it...... [desparate]

Jennster · 10/05/2009 22:01

desperate even

FiKelly · 10/05/2009 22:08

Wow daisydoo that was quick and no wonder you feel hit by a bus! hope your stitches are not too uncomfy and lol about upsetting the lady next door.. you gotta do what you gotta do.. I may well be the same ;) jasper is a lovely name and IKWYM.. it took me about a week to decide yes finn was the right name for ds..

minimenace · 10/05/2009 22:14

Wow what an amazing birth story Daizy everything happened so fast for you. you were truely astounding to get through it without the epidural, well done. I hope I am as brave and as lucky to get to 10cms that quickly.
Good luck with the Breast Feeding - keep popping back for support here and hope all the soreness subsides soon.

Belgianchocolates · 10/05/2009 22:22

I do love a good birth story and yours was definitely one of those, daisy. It looks like this is slowly turning into a thread of quick labours. I'm in the queue for one of those too! LOL at your grandma. I suppose at 95y, you can forgive her. I'm sure she'll come round to the idea pretty soon

I've discovered that I've got to start every phone call I make nowaday with: Hi, I'm not phoning to announce the birth, I'm just phoning to x,y,z. Funny when you think about it really...

My strongish b/h's have worn off now. I think minim's calculations might have been wrong

Belgianchocolates · 10/05/2009 22:30

I'm wondering whether it's better to go to bed now. Or whether I should just sit here and wait for some more tightenings? I'm sure lying down will make sure nothing happens at all, but if I stay here upright maybe it might trigger something. Oh, I don't know. I should get some rest really, shouldn't I. DH is snoring away on the sofa, so I'm not going to get any more baby inducing action out of him too.

Belgianchocolates · 10/05/2009 22:30

See, just typing that made me have another tightening.

Belgianchocolates · 10/05/2009 22:32

No, I'm going to bed. I think I'll sit and read in bed for half an hour and then see if I can sleep, because I feel tired, yet awake for some reason .

detsy · 10/05/2009 22:36

hi all on phone in bed. belgian notes say partially effaced. Had lots of backache today and some grip the chair, fence, dp, pelvic pain and of course more gloop... chocolatebunnies · 10/05/2009 22:54

It seems to have lost the ability to spin Hopefully we'll be able to get it fixed as we cant afford a new one!

Good luck dandy thinking of you!

flippineck · 11/05/2009 05:44

Anyton there yet? Morning!

dandy - waiting for news...

daizy - another quick one, well done! Lovely story.

Well, I don't think I'm going to be one of the quick ones, but I think this might be it! Lots of what felt like BHs last night, so had my bath and went to bed. Slept ok, but woke at 4:40 this morning by a contraction (definitely not a BH). When I woke they were about every 8-10 minutes, but that is dropping. Not hugely painful yet though, and only lasting about 30 seconds. And I've had show! Using contraction master website to geta better idea. When DD wakes I'll have another bath.

flippineck · 11/05/2009 05:47

Oh, and chocbunnies - have you tried all the tips that were talked about earlier, can't remember if it was this thread or the old one, someone else (sorry, can't remember who) said their washing machine had stopped spinning too. If none of those work, hope you can get it fixed.

Momino · 11/05/2009 06:00

morning. this seems to be a regular time of the morning for Harper to want a feed so good time to check in for new babies.

wonder how dandy got on?

daizy, great story. i hope you feel better fronm the bus that hit you . that's a good description of how it feels after giving birth. i felt same way next day and hurt in upper body muscles (neck, arms) as well. Jasper is a gorgeous name. he'll grow into it and you'll be assured as you hear more compliments about what a lovely name it is.

also, i hope you really don't feel you didn't handle the pain because you DID! being loud is ok and a way to cope. don't worry about the lady in the other room, she'll have been fine. can't believe you arr at hosp at 10cm! that's amazing. sounds like you had a great birth. hang in there for bf, mine was painful but got better when milk arrived and LO had something to suck.
