Tee2072 · 25/05/2009 09:31

Good morning juners!

Had a fab nights sleep for real, once I finally got comfy around 2am. Just got up, actually. I never sleep past about 8, so sleeping to nearly 9:30 is amazing!

doris keep us posted! [hopeful smiley]

Ineed enjoy your BBQ. I completely forgot it was Bank Holiday, as DH is at work, so I was all, BBQ on Monday?!?!

naat honestly, if she can't be considerate, why should you be? at the book. Do not let her take an inch, you are what matters right now. Glad your DH agrees with that.

Better start my day with some breakky and then its time to wash baby clothes! I am hoping to have the baby's room all set up by the end of this week! Maybe sooner!

daisy5 · 25/05/2009 09:37

Hi everyone,

doris & Ineed - Me too. Glad to hear you describe your pains like that as that's what I had all last night and kept waking. Like you say dull heavy pains in pelvis and back that are not contractions but feel as if they mean something. I don't remember getting them last time. I wonder!!

I am sorry, I am a bit tired after difficult night and struggling to read all the sites. Glad you like the guessing game. choccie - so pleased dh took the initiative - did the boys come home happy? mrsmcjnr - did your dh, MIL and son come home in a better mood?

laura - I bet your little one arrives earlier than that.

naat - huge sympathy with your MIL. After all your efforts to get everyone arriving at good times, she turns up. Is she rich - can she stay at a B&B nearby? june - you too in MIL hell!!

Silk - my dd 'helps' with the nursery too. Lots of playing with the baby toys. I feel strange because most of them were gifts to her, so in a way, they are her toys!!

dreamy - I struggle to get my head around how you feed, wash, iron and cloth 8 children. I find one child and a partner hard work at times (ironing shirts is the killer), where do you begin with 8. Interested to hear about their arrival dates. Clearly when the last one came doesn't mean much.

bigcar - wow - maybe you will be the first - 28th May - that's Thursday isn't it. How exciting.

Hi to everyone else.

ermintrude13 · 25/05/2009 10:20

Morning Juners

Doris I had so many braxon hicks yesterday night, with cramps and backache, I was thinking it would be just my luck to miss the home birth deadline by 3 days and have to go to hosp. But then I fell asleep and nothing happened, so I suspect I'll be like this for at least another 3 weeks!

Hope something is moving for someone. Come on girls, drop those mucus plugs

choccie wow, your DH really doesn't like the idea of counselling does he? Good move there, long may his thoughtfulness continue

silk your DH sounds like my BIL - when they come to stay with us my sis might be helping me in the kitchen while he 'keeps an eye on; their 4 and 2 yr old DDs. Invariably we'll find him in front of the teletext for the football while my nieces are either up to no good or he's dumped them on my 11 yr old DD who loves them dearly but doesn't want to be his nanny!

bunny your day out sounds lovely, and I like the idea of snarling at these unhelpful mothes and MILs. That would surprise them .

Naat we have friends in York and it's so pretty, you can walk about and see beautiful buildings everywhere - v good place to take a mum!

blueberry I'm v that you know your due date and that it's so soon. I'm so ready for this baby to come out and say hello

Hi to June, llynn, dreamydowler, LittleS, MrsMc, Looouise and everyone else who 'knows' me

loooouise · 25/05/2009 10:33

Hi Ladies!

I can't believe not one of us has delivered yet and it's already the 25 May! These June babies are clearly too comfortable.
Sorry I've not been posting of late - I'm so anaemic now and had to spend a day in hospital last week when my bp plummeted to 70/40. I barely have the energy to log on. It's so horrible being so inactive, I hate it.
Mum coming down on Weds to help me pack up the flat, then that's me in Yorkshire for 10 weeks. I had a tour of the delivery suite there last week, and I have to say, it's an absolutely gorgeous maternity unit (much nicer than my local in Hackney), so I'm feeling more optimistic about my temporary return to the family home.
Babyfather being a bit of a dick; he still only rings about once a week and had the cheek to ask if i could meet him in St Pancras last night as he had an hour before his Eurostar en route from a wedding in Cornwall. I explained that St Pancras probably wasn't a good place for a 37 week pregnant woman with severe low bp and anaemia to hang around in, merely to fit in with his social arrangements.
Men, eh? I honestly sometimes feel that I'm incredibly lucky to be single, and should bloody well keep it that way.
Going to catch up on all your posts now

lauraloo09 · 25/05/2009 10:39

morning my lovely juners - before i forget i hope everyone has a nice bank holiday monday and that sun stays out for everyone, even tho it is very dull in west of scotland today

doris i was very crampy last night again and was up for a couple of hours with pain and also feeling terribly sick but i hope this may be the start for you keep us posted

naat & june and everyone else with MIL problems I really feel for you as this is the last thing you need in the run up to baby being born. i must admit i have been lucky with my in laws but sometimes they are a bit much to cope with...but hey they are taking me to buy the moses basket today so i can't complain too much

tee so happy you got yourself a good nights sleep at long last, here's hoping it continues for you x

silk your DD sounds adorable 'helping' you with the nursery I dont have any kids (yet lol) but my niece who is 2 is such a lovely girl and always asks me if Siobhan (her) is my big girl which of course i have to say yes, dreading when my baby arrives and Siobhan wont be my big girl anymore not only that she walks up to me pulling my t-shirt and asks if she could kiss the baby...how sweet is that

bigcar my brain is like mush too at the moment has taken me around 1 hour to catch up and i keep forgetting what everyone has been saying...oh and what a guess and only 3 days away!!

ineed here's hoping you have a lovely time at the BBQ or that you need to cancel due to things starting which ever of the two you would prefer

daisy here's hoping LO arrives before my guess it would be nice if she made an appearance on my original due dates of around 31st may 1st june...MIL thinks she will arrive within the next week and a half!

BIG HELLOS to everyone I have missed

chocciedooby · 25/05/2009 12:34

Bank Holiday Monday there!!!!You lucky lot. Mind you its our Bank Holiday next MOnday

ineed - I think it was you that asked where I was based. I live in Ireland but I am originally from Leicester. been in Ireland 11 years now and do miss my family.

Naat - Poor you having to deal with nasty MIL so soon after baby due.If she really has to come make sure she doesn't stay any longer than you have said. You will have your hands full and the last thing you need is an interfering old so and so......

Dreamy - I take my hat off to you having 8 kids. You are super woman

Loooouise - sorry to hear you were not well last week.Poor you. Hope you are a bit better now. So pleased you are happy with the maternity unit up north. Sorry your baby father is being a dick! If you look back on some of my recent posts you will see that some men just don't get pregnancy at all and it is infuriating. At least you aren't married to that dick .

My DH must have taken stock of everything yesterday as he was ace but like you have all said, I must make sure he continues this way or we will be on a downward spiral. He is such a good man and I feel bad for having a bitch about him on here but I really have to let off steam at times.

For those of you that had a night of cramps -same here. I don't think I will be wolfing down a cold Heineken again anytime soon .

Will try to catch up properly later on with everyone else as have to fly and get kids from school.

Happy Bank Holiday

silkcushion · 25/05/2009 14:57

I've had to lie on the bed with my legs up

Been out for lunch with Dd and Dh which was nice, then finally went to Boots and got some cooling leg stuff. Planned to walk to the local church where they are doing a fun afternoon with a toddlers corner but I suddenly felt very faint and dizzy.

So DH has put me and dd to bed for an hour or so to recover - he said he might watch the cricket if that's ok

I can't even see the bones in my ankles anymore they are soooo swollen

Sorry for the self pitying post

Tee2072 · 25/05/2009 16:13

silk if you are that swollen, you should probably call the MWs. Could be something could be nothing!

I've been washing little baby clothes all day. So.Very.cute!

lauraloo09 · 25/05/2009 16:19

silk i agree with tee i would call midwife if they are that swollen x

tee very cute washing baby clothes my in laws bought the moses basket and stand (wasn't expecting the stand) so DH is assembling the stand can't wait to see it all together thats nursery finally complete

LittleSarah · 25/05/2009 16:25

Hello people

My cousin has had her baby! On Saturday night, four days early after being nine days late last time!! Also a wee boy (Angus) when she was sure it was a girl as she has had - again - a very difficult pregnancy! So very pleased and excited for her. She and her partner are having a quiet week this week so hoping to go and visit Sunday/Monday sometime.

Naat - Urgh about your mother-in-law! Jeez Louise. Some people can be really inconsiderate, and I see she is even worse than some people, not hard to read between the lines there! I hope she behaves herself!

We are guessing due dates I see?? I shall do mine later when I get dh's guess. However as I was four days early last time and my cousin has been four days early this time I feel slightly worried I'll go 9 days over as she did last time!

Loouise - Sorry to hear about babyfather and illness issues. Certainly being single has a lot to be said for it, even with a baby, I had a great time! about my email thinking you were in Scotland, oops! Glad Yorkshire is treating you well.

Ermin - 'Come on girls drop those mucus plugs' - great line! I don't want to drop mine until after this ball on Friday!

I don't know if I'd describe the pains I've been getting as cramps (last few days). I don't remember it from last time. Basically it is a heavy tightening feeling low in the pelvis, okay I'm sure that sounds exactly like cramp! (It just feels different from period cramps). I seem to get it mainly when I am walking... anyway I know it's not labour-related and that is the main thing!

Really pleased also to have finished my 'heirloom shawl' (well that's what the knitting book calls it!)! It really is rather lovely, and worth all the work, I'll get a pic up later. You'll see it is very BLUE, partly because I didn't want to do something else cream, partly because everyone else has me convinced this one is a boy and partly because I liked the colour!

Silk - Hope you're feeling better after your rest.

Oooh skimming back I see Daisy and Doris have had some similar heavy pelvis pains! Also not noted before... strange isn't it? I did wonder if baby was engaging but still not much bladder pressure here, still no night-time weeing! Madness.

Dh and I had a lovely day down at my mum's friend's in the Borders yesterday. Lovely weather and they live in a gorgeous converted schoolhouse in absolutely beautiful countryside. Went for a wee walk but not for long - pelvis pains! Made dh more desperate to move to countryside of course! Is a possibility next year but we need me in work first! Also we were given lovely abstract painting (mum's friend is an artist) as a late wedding present and she is going to frame it for us.

Anyway, hello to everyone! Hope all is well!

PS Ermin and co are right, it's about time someone had a baby!

Right

Hello to everyone

LittleSarah · 25/05/2009 16:28

Oops... that 'Right Hello to everyone' should have been deleted!

DorisIsAPinkDragon · 25/05/2009 17:47

Hi all,

False alarm here if I get up and move around they start (much like early labour last time) with intermittant back pain (again like last time). Have been for a couple of walks to to see if I can try and get them a bit more regular (ended up spending a whole day walking around the hospital last time, before going home. But nada ended up sleeping for about 4 hours this afternoon which I obviously needed.

Just want this baby to come NOW!!!!

Hi to you all, have had a quick read through but woolly brain from sleep means that responses are completely out of the question

Hope you're all having a lovely day

loooouise · 25/05/2009 18:19

Finally, I?ve caught up on your posts?

Dreamy, I think it?s so lovely that you?re planning your daughter?s 18th while waiting for no 8 to arrive. If I were younger/married/not anaemic, I reckon I?d want 8 kids too! I love being one of four; it?s a great, tribal feeling being out with them knowing that we?re clan. Your house must rock!!

Choccie Thanks for your sympathy re dickhead babyfather. Very relieved to hear your DH has improved his behaviour of late!

I have noticed that many of you have had DH issues of late, (hello and hugs MrsMcJnr) so fear not, if they carry on with this dickhead mentality, you?re all very welcome to come and live with me, where women control the remote control, there?s always ice cream in the freezer and the loo seat is permanently down. And no football on the telly, bar occasional anthropological interest in bare chests during the post-match ?commentary?.

Naat, am outraged about MIL?s intrusion. Will DH not intervene on your behalf? Is there anything she?s allergic to that you could suddenly acquire? Cats, lilies, feather pillows? Honestly love, she?s bang out of order.

Tee my first post-natal meal will some lovely Thai prawns in chilli followed by blue veined stilon and a large chilled Chablis (although I have been following Royal College of Obs and Gynaes?s advice and ignoring the Dept of Health and having 1 ? 2 glasses of wine a week).

LittleS no worries about your confusion of my whereabouts, I wish I were coming back to Scotland! Alas my parents are in Yorks, but I will definitely be visiting Edinburgh with baby, so let?s meet up some time in late summer.

I tried to describe how the last weeks of pregnancy felt to a male friend and came up with ?like your all-time worst hangover, coupled with the impossible knowledge and excitement that you?re just weeks away from meeting the greatest love of your life.?

Your second/third/eighth timers are of course all too busy with your Dcs to indulge in all this swooning?.

Oh ? and anybody had complete u-turns on their names? I have TOTALLY gone off both my chosen boy and girl names and have picked two others. Now in dilemma about whether or not to run them past babyfather, or just announce on post-natal ward. Is that terribly unreasonable of me?

blueberrysorbet · 25/05/2009 19:37

Looouise, we changed minds on names last time after ds was born - the names we had picked didn;t suit him. we plumped for one we hadn;t even considered in the end! think you should choose, he can just go along with it tbh.

naat, is she still coming to visit? or have you moved to a secret location? you could get a friend to pose as a midwife and come round for a concerned home visit saying that you need complete seclusion and rest

is anyone going to be collecting stem cells?

silkcushion · 25/05/2009 20:11

Had a good sleep this afternoon but feet still v swollen. Have a MW appointment tomorrow afternoon so I'll show her then.

Loouise - this utopia where the toilet seats are always down seems evry tempting - of course it'll all be wrecked if you have a boy.

Yr right there isn't much time for baby swooning during the day but my broken nights of sleep give me plenty of time to think. Have just realised I'm about to have a tiny baby again and feel all broody (thank god). I love it when they've just had a feed and seem to be in a blissed out milky trance.

For those of you not having yr first I read this in 'what to expect when yr expecting' this afternoon - might explain what we're all experiencing

prelabour symptoms - sensations of increasing pressure in the pelvis and rectum. crampiness (similar to menstrual cramps) and groin pain are particularly common in second and later pregnancies. Persistent lower back pain may be present.

Hope you've all enjoyed yr bank holidays and are feeling refreshed and ready for the week ahead

Naat · 25/05/2009 20:12

Hi Juners!

I have read everything but feel I've already mixed everyone's posts up I'll have to read again as I write.

blue We thought of collecting stem cells but can't afford it right now. Are you doing it?

loouise we're still struggling with the name decision DH changes his mind so often Sorry to hear about the baby father's "plans" for you to meet him at St Pancras. Men are in a completely different dimension sometimes, huh They think things are completely doable and OK and have NO idea...

doris false alarm, I can see... But LO can be well on its way anyway I can't wait for the first of us to pop!!!

littleS lovely that you got a painting for your home! DH also likes the countryside, but I always tell him the same thing: I don't drive, so I'd be completely isolated I know, I should learn soon, esp. with a LO Congrats on finishing the shawl!!!

laura yay on having the nursery all done!!! Ours is mum's room for the moment and full of suitcases and bags for the move

silk hope your ankles are not as swollen now... If they get toooo swollen, I agree with the girls, call your MW, they usually prefer to check on those things.

choccie fingers crossed for your DH to keep on like this!! Yesterday was a really lovely day for you and the DC had a great time!

ermin you made me choke on my tea this morning while reading your "come on ladies, drop those mucus plugs" OH my!! I laughed so hard of course DH said "what? It's one of the Juners, isn't it?" Fingers crossed for these 3 days to fly by so that you can have your home birth

daisy sorry to hear you had a rough night yesterday. Hope you managed to get a nap today...

tee so glad you had such a great rest last night!! Sounds like you woke up renewed!

dreamy fingers crossed for LO to arrive after your DD's bday. I'm with the other Juners, it's amazing how you manage 8!! Super mum!

bigcar 3 days!!!

ineed any sudden cramps in the middle of the BBQ???

Right, today we had lovely sunshine in the morning so we went to Hawarth, lovely tiny town, my mum went nuts with the souvenirs And she tried fish and chips

DH spoke with MIL last night and explained the "ground rules" of her "parachute visit" ("no problem" to welcome her as it's ONLY for the day and that she had to know that she was running the risk of not seeing us at all if LO decided to come that day as we were going to be at the hospital, not knowing for how long of course, with our mobiles off and that "no visitors were allowed up to 8hs after the birth". OK, that's a lie but we had to tell her that, if not she'd be banging the birth centre's door demanding to go in just while LO is crowning, believe me). She accepted all this, didn't complain and was actually glad, DH thinks it's because she was expecting a "NO" for an answer so this really took her by surprise. Anyway... rules have been established, if she doesn't comply with them DH has vowed to "protect me and LO" against any type of scene or drama. Please, God, let that be the case!

Today it's her birthday, so we have to call her again tonight.

Hope you've all had lovely days. Come on Juners, let's see those LOs!

(((waves)))

LittleSarah · 25/05/2009 20:39

Naat - Glad to hear those ground rules! I also don't drive and when were talking about moving he was all we'll have to get you driving asap. Yes Sir! Lol. I do want to learn though but am very nervous about being in charge of such a massive and speedy contraption!

Silk - Hey, well done on finding that explanation of the crampy pain, sounds about right to me!

Blueberry - I didn't even know that us civilians could collect stem cells! How does it work (although am sure we couldn't afford it either)?

Okay, will update the guessing game list. Dh forbids baby to come erlier than 4th June and has gone for then, I have absolutely no idea but am optimistically going for 7th June.

MrsMcJnr - Oops! Read properly woman, I see you are due on the 4th and guessing 7th! Oh well at least that is the same!

MrsMcJnr · 25/05/2009 22:16

Hey ladies just a quick post as haven?t time to catch up tonight sadly off to the hospital tomorrow morning for monitoring so no doubt I?ll have lots of weird dreams tonight reflecting the irrational fear that they won?t let me leave? DH is feeling better and went back to work today, his temperament is no better though. MIL is driving me a bit crazy she?s lovely and I know she?s here to help but she is still driving me crazy (and DH too I think)

silkcushion · 26/05/2009 05:01

Have been awake since 4am! And at 2am and midnight before that (went to bed late as well).

Really crampy and uncomfortable in my pelvis and lower abdomen. Actually thought I had a contraction earlier but clearly not as it was half an hour ago and nothing like it since.

Fed up and wondering how to get back to sleep - 4 dreadful nights in a row now.

Hope you're all either slumbering peacefully or in labour producing our first baby

daisy5 · 26/05/2009 05:14

No baby here - even though I was convinced I would go into labour overnight after all the cramping and pain yesterday.

I woke a couple of times in the night to pee but not in pain and managed to get back to sleep immediately, so that was good. Woke up this morning thinking 'ah, a good night sleep' and came downstaires to discover it was only 4.30am!!! The birdsong does start early at the moment.

silk and other crampy.girls - I just read that same bit from 'What to Expect' at 11pm last night and realised that exactly explained my pain. I can't believe I'll last for more than 3-4days with almost continuous BH and cramping, but who knows in this business Interesting that it is more common for second or third pregnancies as that explains why doris, littlesarah and I etc never felt it before. Sorry to hear about your swollen ankles. Ouch - that sounds quite severe.

littlesarah - I learnt to drive when I was 12 in the middle of a flood out of sheer necessity, but the nice thing about learning in NZ, is that there were so few cars, and plenty of room on the roads that it never seemed scary. I completely sympathise with you not wanting to drive - there are just so many cars here (by comparison) and you have to be so focussed all the time, and some country lanes so tiny (and parking spaces). It doesn't feel so leisurely.

louise - glad you like your hospital unit and you've made it up north ok. Birth daddy being fairly demanding and irrational. I sometimes wonder if the downside of feminism is that men think we should be invincible at all times!!!!!

naat - glad to hear you have a few groundrules in place and dh is onside. You most probably will just want to rest and sleep for the first week after birth and do not need to feel like the air traffic controller at Heathrow!!!

choccie - hope all well with you.

mrsmcjnr - I do hope your day at the hospital isn't too much of a trial and you get in and out quickly.

ermin - I hope junior is still holding out for the homebirth deadline. Is that tomorrow?

laura - are things looking better? are you a bit less worried now?

Better do some work now I am up early.

All the best for Tuesday 26th May girls - maybe our babies will all come in a huddle!!

daisy5 · 26/05/2009 05:21

blueberry and louise - I'm having a mini name crisis too, although we have called the baby the same name since 20 weeks so it would feel a wee bit odd to change it.

With our first, the name seemed so obvious and we both had always loved the name. With this name, it is a recent affection for the name, but not such a passionate attachment and I waiver some days.

Tee2072 · 26/05/2009 08:29

Good morning all.

Lots of sympathy for the not sleeping. I've actually had two good nights sleep in a row, which is amazing even when I am not pregnant!

Off to do more nesting today. I hope everyone has a lovely day!

Ineedmorechocolatenow · 26/05/2009 08:32

Hello all. I actually slept last night, which is a miracle as I was laying wide awake at 11.30 thinking 'this is going to be a long night.....'

Daisy and silk - sorry to hear about your lack of rest. How frustrating. I went through 5 nights of it last week.....

I'm also having all those cramps and pressure pains silk - thanks for posting the section that explains the reason. I certainly don't remember it from last time, but it would explain why if last time was my first. Hope your feet have calmed down.

Naat - glad you've established some ground rules for MIL. I really hope it doesn't add to your stress too much. What a PITA!

MrsMc - Good luck today

LittleSarah - Glad to hear that you had a nice day yesterday.

Doris - I'm with you 'I WANT THIS BABY OUT NOW!'

I had a dream last night that we all met up with our LOs after they were born. I'd love to meet some of you guys, though I know we are spread far and wide... not expecting flights from Oz, NI or Spain!

I had a lot of swelling yesterday, all on my right hand side. My foot and hand really swelled up. It's just my hands this morning though. I think it's the heat.....

DH has left his phone charger at work (he's now on half term) - honestly, he only has a few things to remember and one of them is a fully charged phone in pocket at all times. Jeez. He's going in today to get as much marking and prep done (and charge his phone!) so that he's free the rest of half term in case anything happens. I'm dreading him even travelling the 40mins with a dread phone in his pocket. MEN!
