Tee2072 · 26/05/2009 09:03

I just realized effie hasn't posted her or on her Facebook since Saturday...I wonder...

LittleSarah · 26/05/2009 09:08

Tee - Yes indeed that is a mystery about Effie! Perhaps....

Ineed and Doris it's funny hearing you guys who just want baby out, I still want mine to stay in for a week or so. This time next week though I'm sure I'll be the same!

Bigcar is getting induced on Thursday I believe so hopefully we will have at least one baby before the month is out!

Right, dd and I are off to the park while the sun is shining!

Have a great day all!

Naat · 26/05/2009 09:23

Morning ladies,

Well, it was her dd's bday on Sat, maybe that had her quite busy... OR...

Sorry to hear silk and daisy couldn't sleep well at all last night.

daisy the same thing happens to me every single day! I wake up thinking "oh, well, that wasn't so bad, I managed to sleep", and it's 4.45 or 5am and the sun is shining!!

silk how are your ankles? Hope the swelling has come down.

litteS enjoy the park and the sun!

ineed oh, he'd better go that mobile DH and I now have a new code, I won't call him, only send him msg through the mobile messenger, unless it's important/urgent for him to pick up the phone. I also keep having dreams where you all are It'd be so great to have a "Juners' reunion"

mrsmc everything crossed for you today!!! Keep us posted

tee did you finish all the baby laundry yesterday? I saw on FB that your DH helped you, how sweet of him

effie thinking of you, girl, post if you can

Not a bad night here, I woke up at 4.30 to wee and then managed to go back to sleep again, miracle! No plans for today except mum's going to help me pack LO's clothes (the ones I have + the ones she brought ).

Have a lovely day, Juners!!!

bunnymother · 26/05/2009 09:40

Morning ladies!!

Had rubbish night's sleep - so fed up w it!! A friend in Oz who had her baby suggested I take 15 mls castor oil as she went into labour 3 hours later. Only thing is, DH asked me not to tamper w Mother Nature this week as not v convenient for work (if she comes, she comes, but please don't try and lure her out was the message). So... sounds like I start googling pineapple curry w RLT sorbet for dessert, all served in bed for every night from Sunday night onwards. Perhaps w a nice aperatif of castor oil in orange juice?

There were some things I wanted to say, but now can't remember!!

Naat - so good to hear your DH is in your corner!

BigCar - not long now - Thursday's the day, isn't it?

MrsMcJnr - good luck today!

LittleSarah - did you get a dress for the ball?

Inned - agreed that a Juners reunion would be fab!

How many of us are in London or could v easily / would want to travel to London?

Who said they are jealous of/impressed by the rather sizeable cup sizes some Juners are filling? Me too! I went and got fitted and the Mothercare lady seemed to think I would remain DD (which I am NOT normally BTW!!) even w milk. Lady at Selfridges much more realistic! But have to order from the internet as hard to buy nursing bras in the store, I find. Have discovered the Le Mystere Florence nursing bra (has lace AND an underwire to lift these puppies up up and away!), so now trying to source (its a US brand). In case anyone else looking for underwired nursing bra...

I think someone else is having MIL problems (choccie?)? My sympathies!! I have all my fingers crossed that this week a sea of calm and happiness will wash over us all (have been overdoing the hypnobirthing CD listening me thinks ), and produce at least one of our elusive Juner babies!!

Some good news - we now have one first name that we like! Which doesn't sound like much, but believe me, this is progress!!

Off to the dentist and to find something to help my memory!!! ((waves to all the lovely Juners!))

Tee2072 · 26/05/2009 09:44

bunny at my last antenatal class they said very specifically the only thing caster oil will do is give you runs during labour. It is very much not recommended!!!

I could travel to London very easily, after the baby is about 3 months or so. My SIL, who is due 22nd June, lives there. So I could see her and meet up with you guys!!

ermintrude13 · 26/05/2009 10:28

Ooh yes where's Effie I wonder!

Daisy yup, any time from tomorrow and I can have my HB, touch wood (tho if it started today I'd just lie on the phone to be honest . I did throw up this morning and feel like the babe might be engaging - certainly lots of low burrowing going on - but nothing really pre-labourish so it's just wishful thinking on my part.

bunny castor oil plays havoc with your bowels, don't do it!

Good luck at the hosp MrsMc!

Got to take DD ou to H&M to spend birthday vouchers - not looking forward to it - so had better get it over with.

Have a good day ladies

Naat · 26/05/2009 10:34

bunny great idea! Yes, we can easily go to London

June2009 · 26/05/2009 11:16

Heya!

Re: Meeting up in London, count me in when the time comes.

We never got round to organise the nursery but I'm starting to really picture it now and getting restless that it's not done yet.
For some strange reason dh is really busy with the car's gps, how long do I leave it before I start naging about moving furniture around?
I'm due Sunday next week, I think he's got his priorities wrong (unless he doesn't know how to get to the birth centre!).

LittleSarah Same here, I'm not in a hurry to have the baby, she's due on 7th and I'm quite happy being 1 or 2 weeks overdue in order to get everything ready.

I'm going to be measured this week, probably M&S, I didn't like mothercare last time they measured me. (That's not really fair to be honest, it's not her fault I find my back size too big and my cup size too small LOL.)

Bunny I think I read somewhere underwired bras are generally not recommended for breastfeeding (may be damaging to milk ducts or may not allow comfortably for breast changes/growth or something along the lines), maybe that's why the shops don't stock them as much.
I'll ask the shop about it when I go this week.
Pre-pg all my bras were underwired and I do miss the support and structure it brings, without it it feels like I'm all "spread out" iyswim. I've had to stick safety pins to most of my V-neck pg tops otherwise my bra is showing because my boobs are pulling the material appart :S

I am a chicken though, if they so much as hint that it can compromise bf (which they will do to cover their arses) I'll have to pass.

Right well today I want to finish the labour bags and have them ready to go, maybe even put them in the boot!! Despite showing dh several times already, he's mentionned twice now that he doesn't know which ones or where they are: "the ONLY bags on the spare bed, fgs."

Very excited to hear that some Juners are feeling closer to labour, I've not had cramps since last week and really no signs that baby is coming anytime soon.

Ineedmorechocolatenow · 26/05/2009 11:28

I'm only 30 mins on train away, so definitely up for a meet in London. I'll ask MIL to watch DS for the day (not sure I'd cope too well with a toddler in London as well!), then come up with this LO... ooooo, how exciting!

OP posts:
bigcar · 26/05/2009 11:36

morning all

loooouise, sorry to hear about your babyfather being a right royal pain! I suppose at least he has the excuse that he doesn't spend that much time with you, not something some of our dhs can claim Hope you're feeling better, doesn't sound like you had a very nice week. Your trip to yorks is sounding much more positive!

MrsMcJnr, hope all's well today

ermin, hope todays shopping isn't too bad! We all went out Sunday for ds to spend his birthday money, I ended up finding myself a nice bench in the shopping centre and fairly much staying put, just couldn't do the walking so ended up being bag monitor Dh let ds get guitar hero on ps2, something else big to find a home for never mind the volume they both want to play it at, I don't think ds was the only person that wanted it Then of course dd2 just HAD to go to Primark to spend her pocket money

naat, sounds like you have mil sorted, must be a huge relief! If all else fails, turn the lights off and pretend you're not in

tee, your sounding very organised now, sorting out all the baby clothes and getting everything washed is one of those lovely chores

bunny, have fun at the dentist let us know if you find something to improve memory, I'm desperately in need now

littlesarah, enjoy the park, hope you have better weather than we have here, not a great looking day!

ineed, so long as your dh remembers to bring his charger home again Must remember to put my spare charger in my hospital bag, and charge the camera, at least your dh has reminded me of something I need to do!

I can't believe none of us has popped yet and it's already the 26th! 2 more days for me, beds permitting, but I really don't think I'll be the first, I have a really strong feeling So come on ladies I need to check my bag, it seems really empty, I must have forgotten stuff, either that or I'm being really over optimistic on the length of my stay I'm hoping that my blood sugar being well controlled won't mean an extended stay for me or lo, didn't seem to get much of an answer out of the doctor last week

I'd certainly be up for a meet in London if that's looking possible. tee, I think when our los are about 3 months would be good timing, hopefully they'll all be in some sort of routine by then and won't be feeding every 2 seconds

Don't know what's happened to the weather today, not nice, where did all the sun go?! Waves to all

lauraloo09 · 26/05/2009 12:03

morning all

I sympathise with those not being able to sleep. the past couple of nights i've had a good sleep still up a few times for toilet trips but able to get back to sleep immediately and for some strange reason i can never seem to get out of bed until after 11am!!

RE the meet up I can easily get to London by train, trains are very regular from Glasgow and I'd def be up for meeting...oh getting excited lol

I was also wondering where effie has been could this be our first baby??

Well I was hoping to have popped soon but the severe pains i had last week have subsided to minor pains and niggles now but never know they might start again.

Will try to catch up soon

daisy5 · 26/05/2009 12:35

ermintrude - me too, I was nauseous and trying to vomit this morning, but there was nothing in my stomach, so nothing came up. I see it is another Pre-Labour sign, but how long is this pre-labour going to be? A week of pain so far - it is as painful as early labour last time but never ending!!!

Nothing from doris this morning. I wonder if every morning we should do an 'all present and accounted for' role call to determine who disappeared off to hospital in the night?????

DorisIsAPinkDragon · 26/05/2009 13:14

Sorry, guys I'm signing in now pains definitely gone overnight I did have this for a full 24 hours with dd2 so this one might go on for longer.....

Uneventfful night apart from both dd's waking went I went for a wee at 0430, but everyone went back quickly and didn't wake til 0700

Been out this morning with dh (he had an extra day as is civil servant and they get holiday for the queens birthday) so have been making the most of it.

I will repeat again I am soooooooo fed up with this pregnancy malarky just not fun anymore (oh and 39 weeks today)

June2009 · 26/05/2009 13:57

oooh Doris, 39 weeks I'm 38+2.
I didn not realise it's the quenee's bday, wish I had an extra day off as well.

Today I keep going from feeling really energetic and wanting to sort loads of baby stuff out (nursery/labour bag) to feeling really low cause I can't get on with this stuff because work is getting in the way.

Dh is going to move some furniture around (and there isn't much to move really, just can't do it on my own) when he gets back so we should be pretty sorted by tonight :D

We had a lovely day out yesterday with our friends, but once again I really wanted to stay in and do "baby stuff", like put my "labour positions" and all the nct and antenatal classes paperwork/advice/leaflets in a neat little plastic folder to take to the birth centre with me for dh to read and remind me while I'm in labour.

The other reasons I'm in no rush to get the baby out are that:

  • I really like having her inside me, I love the sensation of her moving around, the fact that I know she is safe in there. I'm afraid of how much I will miss her when she is out.
  • The more I read "what to expect the first year" the more it dawns on me that I haven't held a baby in more than 20 years and I start to worry that I'll be completely overwhelmed.
Especially since dh is not doing any reading about it and I think the baby and the amount of care she will need will come as a shock to him iyswim.
  • I know this is stupid but I don't want anyone else (bar dh) to touch her when she comes out. (precious first baby, right :D)
I am dreading having ILS people critising the way I have chosen to handle her/clothe her/name her/feed her.

I will have to remind myself to just "nod, smile and ignore".

I think I will be off to take a pic of my bump to cheer me up!

Tee2072 · 26/05/2009 16:35

june I am with you on your first point. I am so going to miss having the baby inside me. As much as I can't wait to have it in my arms.

silkcushion · 26/05/2009 16:39

ok so I've caught up on the thread but am literally so tired i can't remember a word of it

Been for my final session of hypnotherapy this morning - feeling very relaxed and chilled thank goodness - just need to keep practising the techniques for labour.

Big pile of ironing done then saw the mw. Showed her my feet/ankles and she looked worried but my bp was the lowest it's been this pg (think it's the hypnotherapy tbh). We agreed it was just due to the heat - ands are better today - I've managed to get my rings on.

MW coming over Thursday to bring hb kit. I go on the on call list on Friday - she said it was unlikely no one would be available as there are only 2 other ladies on the list at the moment and they are due soon.

LO is 3/5 engaged but lying slightly sideways so I've been instructed to do lots of hanging about on all fours to shift her a bit. MW terribly non commital about whether all the crampy signs mean anything will happen early.

Hope someone pops soon!!! And that you've all enjoyed your days. I'm off to Tesco to get something tasty for dinner (trying to be a proper wife whilst on mat leave) and then to pick up titch from nursery.

silkcushion · 26/05/2009 16:41

Tee x posts. You won't have time to miss your lo being in your tummy - you'll be too busy snuggling your scrummy little bundle and sniffing his/her fuzzy head

bunnymother · 26/05/2009 16:51

Afternoon ladies!

Oh dear, for the sake of everyone within a 50 m radius of me, I will step away from the castor oil. Thank you for the warning - very undesirable side effects!!

How fantastic at all these enthusiastic responses to meeting up in London! Tee, I agree that a 3 month settling period first sounds like a good idea
. Think of how adorably chubby our babies will be by then!

Now I remember! Loouise - your baby father sounds like he had a complete lapse in concentration suggesting you meet him at St Pancras! And thanks for the offer of lady friendly accommodation - I lived w my sister and best girlfriend and it was FUN! Ermin - hope you H&M was OK and not too heaving! I ventured into Primark (again) for a bigger top - can't fit into any anymore! The sales assistant was v shocked at me being out and about w a week to go. Did she think it was the 1800s and I was to be confined?? Sorry to hear you having such a tough time w your pre-labour.

June - if you follow my advice, if in doubt nag away! Won't tell you DH's views on my approach... Although it did get him moving on the weekend re final things for baby. Apart from a name!! [steam coming out of rabbit ears]. I also read that underwires are usually not recommended. "Luckily" this bra has special patented underwires that were designed specifically for breastfeding (blah blah, marketing speak for "you are going to have to pay more for this bra" IMO). Agree, that underwired nursing bras are as rare as hens teeth. Left to their own devices, my bazooms leave a lot to be desired... Deary me re your DH's domestic blindness and the labour bags. Perhaps he could share a guide dog w my DH? Hopefully you get all your baby things sorted out tonight, so you can feel more relaxed about it. I am also wanting, more and more, to hibernate at home and finalise things. And as a first timer, I can def relate to feeling a bit daunted about becoming a mother and certainly v apprehensive/aggressive re any "constructive criticism".
Wonder if that's why am not keen for parents or ILs to visit for the first 2 months so I can get a handle on this parenting caper? Given how much you care about your LO and all the reading you are doing, can only think you will be a beautiful mother and that your LO will be so lucky to have you.

Bigar - hope that PS2 game came w some nice noise cancelling headphones for you!! I don't blame you for staying put - am fast slowing down myself IYKWIM. Not sure there is much on the market that could kick start my memory, but if I find anything that helps at all, I will be posting it here!! Apparently the DHA in fish oil tablets help, but frankly I am living proof that they are of limited assistance.

Daisy - oh, that's really not good that you are having such a difficult time w your pre-labour. Perhaps that means your actual labour will be a dream? [hopeful emoticon]

Doris - how nice to have date day w your DH! And I certainly hear you re being fed up w pregnancy! 39 weeks - not long for you!
I tick over on Friday.

silk - I think hypnotherapy is amazing! I am also v chilled about labour (think docile cow) and can only attribute it to that. Ooh, sniffing beautiful baby heads - bliss!! (smile)

God, what an essay! One final thought, sometimes a v heavily pregnant lady has to ask an able bodied man sitting in the priority seats 3 times if she can sit down before he will give up his seat on a London bus. . Luckily he moved as am not sure I wouldn't have started kicking him in the shins if I had to ask again...

June2009 · 26/05/2009 17:16

I just wanted to add that I'm not actually going to stop anyone from holding the baby, that would be ridiculous :D

dh came back and put the cot in the right room, then we realised we havne't got any fitted sheets for the cot mattress.
Not a massive problem since we've got the moses basket (and the fitted sheets for that!) but it's kind of stopped me in my tracks of getting things all tidy.

silk you mentionned your ankles and I just looked at mine as Ive beensitting at my desk for a little while and they are really big too.
The mw knows about it from our last appointment (and the one before) and said that the ankles were likely to be swollen until birth now (they go down if I put my feet up for a while). BUT to watch out for any other swelling (fingers/face etc) and let them know if I notice anything else.

Baby has been very active today, and after telling you guys and my auntie over the phone that I'm getting no signs of anything happening anytime soon I've just been feeling a bit crampy and dizzy and getting BH like I did last Thursday. Hopefully this too shall pass for now (I do want to meet baby, I'm just not ready yet.)

I probably need to eat something! (mmm chocolate biscuit and tea would be nice)...

ermintrude13 · 26/05/2009 17:32

Tee and June It is odd when you realise your tummy is empty, even when you're holding your LO. Especially when you get afterpains which feel like there's still something in there. But as silk says, the compensation of having the real wiggly LO in your arms more than makes up for it

June feeling protective of baby and of your maternal abilities is completely natural. I never liked handing babe over to ILs because they mean well but are quite 'cold' people, so I tended to hand him/her to DH first and go to make a cup of tea. Nothing wrong with sensible avoidance techniques if you know something's potentially difficult, and your babe will be back with mummy in no time. Any criticism, just go lalala not listening - or if it's from someone older, suggest that the thinking has changed a lot since they were parents .

bunny shopping was exhausting! I must have looked bad, because the Big Issue seller stopped shouting when he saw me and said 'You alright duck? Mind how you go, now'

chocciedooby · 26/05/2009 17:33

Blimey this thread is moving moving moving...
Read it but can't remember who said what. My concentration has gone...sorry.

I am getting about 5 calls a day from dh now. He must be getting nervous. I am also getting an almost daily call from MIL to see if I am ok. They are all convinced that I will go early...I am not so sure.

I am feeling ok, tired but much better than the 32 week mark. Not getting the best sleep last 2 nights as having to go to the toilet every hour which is a pain.

It was DS1's sports day today and I felt fine standing around with all the mums and dads.

Having a few crampy pains and stronger BH during the day but no signs of pre-labour yet.

Funny how as soon as I start to talk about it I get butterflies in my stomach.

lauraloo09 · 26/05/2009 17:47

afternoon everyone hope you are all ok

choccie MIL has been texting me constantly everyday now since last week she is sure i'm going to go within a week and a half...wish i was that certain. I hope your DS enjoyed his sports day

erm at what the big issue seller said, suppose he was trying to be nice lol

tee & june I am the same about the feeling of emptiness when baby arrives but I cannot wait to hold her I have been looking at the 4d scan photos since 25 weeks and now desp just to finally meet her

bigcar hope guitar hero keeps your DH and DS occupied, I'm a bit of a console geek (have a nintendo wii) and i absolutely love guitar hero, maybe its the thinking of playing guitar when i have no musical talent whatsoever lol

daisy sorry to hear pre-labour is really painful for you right now hopefully you'll have baby soon. at your suggestion of signing in every morning so we can keep track of where everyone is

I went into town today and finally got my hands on the proper rasberry leaf stuff from Holland and Barratts (i have been using tea bags since 32 weeks) the stuff i got today are capsules and i opened on and made tea with it...oh my goodness it is awful but started to get BH as soon as i started drinking it so here's hoping it works better than the bags. Going to make DH his dinner so it's ready for him coming home from work will catch up with everyone else later x

Naat · 26/05/2009 18:04

Hey ladies!

choccie I can see your DH feels this LO is coming soon

ermin I'm totally with you on the shopping thing! The last two days we did so much sightseeing and walking today I felt like doing nothing at all! HOpe you can get a rest now...

june glad the nursery is almost done! I also feel I need LO to wait, although I'm really excited about seeing her and holding her!! I'd also heard about underwired bras not being good for pg or bf women and I'm also a chicken like you, I don't dare try otherwise

bunny stay away from that oil! Oh, so at that man on the bus! Once I overheard a man saying "well, they wanted to be equal before, all that feminism and all, and now they act weak when they want to sit down" Absolutely shocking.

silk glad you're feeling calmed and relaxed and that you're getting all the things for your home birth soon

doris wow, 39wks today!! Hope you have a great day with DH.

laura so glad to hear you've been sleeping well these days

bigcar Oh, absolutely, the game was not for your DS alone My DH once told me never to get him a console as I'd see very little of him as of then

effie thinking of you

mrsmc how did your appt go?

An indoor day for me, although it's lovely outside and the sun has been shining all day. I just feel soooooo tired after walking so much and going out two days in a row that I needed to do nothing. My mum helped clean the kitchen and some other bits so that we leave the flat shining and they don't come up with "oh, we had to hire cleaners and your deposit just went down "

LO is stil moving all day long, she's severly claustrophobic in there

Anyway, hope you're having a great day, Juners!

(((waves)))

Naat · 26/05/2009 18:07

Oh, I forgot

daisy sorry to hear you felt so queasy this morning HOpe you're feeling better and that LO decides to arrive soon!

blueberrysorbet · 26/05/2009 19:16

june2009, feel same way about this baby as I did ds1... hate the fact that people want to touch/hold. have invested in insect net for pram as got v fed up with people leaning in pram and touching him. also people must wash hands in hospital and at home before holding. if asleep, no holding, and baby is supposed to be bonding with me, not with the "helper" i sound awful don;t i? but i remember last time...

no chance of getting to london, not even if still in uk.. thought of toddler and newborn on train/ in car..noo, but v of a meetup!

stem cell collection v popular here, cost about £2k. didn;t do it with ds1 (i have no dd 8 as per the list!) as not available/ not mentioned in uk. i want to, but dh is balking at cost. i would like to though.

really hope baby stays in til next week, but ds1 keeps me so busy that baby probably wants to come out for a rest
