bigcar · 21/05/2009 12:49

good luck littlesarah, I have every confidence in you you've certainly put the work in!

I'm totally addicted to the apprentice, although I can never remember any of the candidates names I don't think I've ever seen Margaret laugh like that before, demonstration of a birthing pool was certainly one of the highlights last night. Oh, and watching the performance to put that pushchair up...... great!

ermintrude13 · 21/05/2009 12:51

I can't watch The Apprentice - makes me cringe. Then again, I used to leave the room when Mastermind contestants did badly on their Special Knowledge round - I'd get so embarrassed for them . DH can sit there enjoying the ludicrous things the Apprentice people say - and that includes Sir Alan - but I can't bear it.

Ineedmorechocolatenow · 21/05/2009 12:52

Oh and the LEA have completely cocked up my SMP and have been paying it to me, despite sending me all the paperwork to say they wouldn't.

When I got the paperwork I claimed it through DWP and they've been paying me for the last month. I phoned the LEA three weeks ago to say that there had been a mistake and that they had been paying me by accident, they confirmed this, and would send a pack out to reclaim the money from me.

No pack sent, so I phoned this morning and apparently I am entitled to it and I shouldn't be getting it from DWP and need to pay it back. I'm so . Why the f*ck should I be sorting this out when it's the LEA's big old cock up in the first place? I get told something different every time I phone. I don't trust anything they say.

I'm not cancelling any payments until I have it in writing that I am going to be paid SMP for 9 months from the LEA.

AAAAAAAAGH!

I feel better now!

OP posts:
June2009 · 21/05/2009 13:32

ineed I think SMP is totally confusing on purpose. I left it to my book keeper to sort out back in February/March and and we still don't know how it will work out. We have also been told very different things everytime we have called.
Definitely get something in writing from them.

Hey bigcar yeah sorry, was gonna add something about free prescriptions, baby showers, free meals delivered, Uni end of year balls, new shoes, spa treatments and having nails painted

btw I read somewhere we can get lansinoh nipple cream on prescription, as well as gavison and E45.

daisy5 · 21/05/2009 13:49

I don't usually watch the Apprentice but having been to the Baby Show, I had to see how it went. Some of them came across as soooo arrogant. And what about that girl trying to sell the expensive rocking horse who offered her services for the week to make up the shortfall of £214 (I mean, what use is she going to be for one week, when he has 34 employees already), and then when he still insisted that it should be reduced a bit she pretty much told him to shove off if he wasn't seriously interested. I was climbing the walls with horror and astonishment. No softly, softly there then!!!!

MrsMcJnr · 21/05/2009 14:06

What a day, everyone seems to be in a really aggressive mood out an about . Didn?t sleep well as my fears of going into labour and having to do it all alone because DH is ill somehow manifested their way into a dream about smuggling cocaine into the country in a stereo that I had when I was 10 probably because I saw the stereo in the garage last week but I don?t know where the cocaine bit came from! Got to the health centre to get an appointment for DH at 8am, was given one for 12.15 and then when we got there the Dr told us that they?d swooped my appointment at 1pm for his and vice versa. Poor DH couldn?t sit there for 45 mins for fear of an accident so after some argy bargy he managed to see a Dr at 12.45 poor thing. Anyway, they think he has a germ in his intestine and has now been given antibiotics to clear it up and has been told to drink tons of rehydration and sports drinks to replace all the electrolytes he has lost. Hopefully he?ll be feeling much better soon. As for me, well I got the results of the Strep B test ? positive but at least now I don?t have the dilemma of should I/shouldn?t I on the antibiotics front which I would have had had the swab come back negative due to the earlier positive result in my urine. So that?s that if I don?t have 8 hours worth of antibiotics in labour (highly unlikely given DS?s birth) my baby girl will be given antibiotics when she is born. I know GBSS is a terrible thing and fatal but I am so sad that my poor newborn will be inflicted with those drugs when she is so tiny; it breaks my heart . Eerily, I have just had a call from the head of midwives at the hospital in response to me lodging my birth plan with him. He didn?t understand my email address to respond to me and I tried as hard as I could to pronounce the letters out clearly but I just couldn?t get the ?UK? bit over to him I have now emailed him so that he can respond but I hope I haven?t enraged him with the direness of my Spanish alphabet. Anyway, how are you all?? MIL has taken DS for a walk so I have some me time

MrsMcJnr · 21/05/2009 14:31

Wow Laura! Sounds like your labour has started ? sounds like a show you had! All the very best, very excited for you I hope you heeded Daisy?s advice and sought help soon after your 5am post. I remember crying for joy when I got a show with DS as he was so late already!!

Daisy ? you sound very organized in case of a quick birth I must start carrying my birth notes around with me wish I could move to the spare room/B2?s room but MIL is in there sounds mean but it is horrible crawling into a hot bed that someone sick has been in all day and frankly smells Glad DP is being nicer

Thanks for your kind words Ermintrude. Apparently he?s to eat bananas, white rice, white bread and cheese ? a bit baffled by the cheese sometimes Spain is so foreign!

Doris ? hope you are finding enough energy to get through the day after your bad night.

Naat ? that feeling is odd when they bury down deeper isn?t it? MIL is doing her best bless her but she is exhausted after 10 mins with DS ?at play? she is just not used to kids.

Littlesarah ? hope you are enjoying the end of an era

June ? tell your DH to keep well away from the business end and to concentrate on your head/face LOL at your summary, you forgot ? overgrown lady gardens, massacred ?bits?, ?unwanted visitors? and a whole lot of nesting going on

Tee ? nails sound great

Hey Nemo wow, things sound manic with you, you sound in control though in case you don?t get back to us before the big day, all the very best and we look forward to hearing your announcement

Hey Bigcar thanks for the support sorry the sweep didn?t work, I remember my NCT tutor telling us to do them DIY, no thanks!! I think that the word ?induction? may well be mentioned to me next Tuesday especially as it would be a way of ensuring I get the antibiotics necessary to protect the baby against GBSS

Hello Ineed how infuriating about the LEA and the SMP ? money issues are not what you need right now

Thinking of you Effie

lauraloo09 · 21/05/2009 15:26

afternoon all!
Thank you for all of your kind wishes!

Just back from hospital and it felt like a total waste of time!

i was examined by 2 people giving me 2 different answers consultant told me cervix was still closed and no sign of bleed so couldn't have been a show or onset of labour. However midwife advised me that my BP was high 144/81 and protein was found in my urine so i immediately thought of pre-eclampsia but then midwife told me protein can be found in urine and BP can be high after a show, they took a swab and a urine sample for tests. I described what i found last night and they did say that it sounds like part of a show.
They then measured my bump, consultant measured it at 34.5 weeks and the midwife measured it at 36 weeks. They then felt my bump and midwife advised i was 4/5th engaged and the consultant said i was 3/5ths. Midwife did say that even if i am only 4/5th engaged it is still a bit early for that to happen in a first pregnancy.
i am still very VERY crampy, not sure if that is because of the doc and midwife pressing on my stomach. so if i continue to feel like this should i go back to hospital to the midwife unit or should i go to consultant unit 30 miles away (dont mind the travel)

I also have to go back next week for another GTT

Naat · 21/05/2009 15:42

Hey Ladies!

laura just read your post. How annoying!!! Two different things at the same place??!?!? I would go back to the MW, should you continue feeling crampy, and not to the docs... It sounds like she "got" you better...

effie thinking of you! Hope to get some news from you soon xxx

mrsmc glad to know you managed to get a doc's appt for your DH. I guess if your DH was suffering from diarrhea, that's why they told him to eat cheese, esp. with rice, as that helps "solidify" things I guess here they don't do the same Hope that now that they gave him meds he gets well soon.
Sorry to hear about the strep b result but at least now you know what you have to get for LO to be fine. Don't worry about your Spanish! (but just in case you have to do it again, U K in Sp would be "u" (as in "uma"), "ka".

daisy I completely agree with you re. the girl from the Apprentice. Oh my!! I know nothing but nothing whatsoever about business but sometimes, seriously, are those supposed to be the "best of the best" of the country's candidates? (As it says on the presentation) Sometimes it's a question of common sense

ineed I had some screaming-at-the-tv episodes So sorry to hear about that mess the LEA are making out of your SMP Hope they get it sorted soon.

hi ermin!

littleS thinking of you!! xx

bigcar the sun has come out!!! as if nothing!! This morning it rained soooo much, I can't believe this, really

Aquanatal was brilliant!! The water was warm (I hate hate hate feeling cold) and the exercises were nice, LO was having a great time, I guess, as I had BH during the whole thing with the occasional protrusion of limbs Oh my...

(((waves)))

June2009 · 21/05/2009 15:48

ooh laura, how frustrating, could the consultant hazard a guess at what the bleeding was if it wasn't a show then?
I'd probably call both if you're still crampy later on tonight.

I'm going to the mw this afternoon at 5, fingers crossed that it is a nice one who has time for me.

lauraloo09 · 21/05/2009 15:53

june he never said what the clot of blood was which frustrated me even more if i walked out with clear answers i would have been happy. DH is starting to worry esp when i mentioned about protein being found in my urine sample...at least there was no glucose this time lol

Just wish cramps would go away tho just feel totally horrible the people at hospital didn't seem concerned about the cramps even tho I have had them now since friday night/saturday morning, might try a bath later but that didn't work the other day...on the plus side DH and BIL are setting up the cotbed

lauraloo09 · 21/05/2009 15:58

updat from effie

Hi Everyone I'm home baby still a wriggling lump inside!! We are under strict instructions that I am not allowed to do ANYTHING ho hum!!! I am to be re-admitted at 36week for observation, until baby is born! Unless the tinker decides otherwise. Thanks for all the lovely messages I have some lovely friends xxxxxxxx

Naat · 21/05/2009 16:01

oh laura Maybe some more experienced Juners will come in and say something wiser but it's so strange they didn't think anything of the cramps! You shouldn't be in pain, hon. If they go on, call them again, don't doubt it, nag nag nag... you and LO are the important thing here.

june good luck at the appt! Fingers crossed for a nice MW!!

lauraloo09 · 21/05/2009 16:05

june sorry forgot to say good luck with your appointment

naat i think i will be calling if this keeps up.

Sorry for another TMI Alert: Just went to loo for like the 15th time since 10am and there was more thick clear mucus this is really starting to bug me i know the mucus is probably nothing but could it be related to what i thought was my show??

MrsMcJnr · 21/05/2009 16:08

Poor you Laura ? what a carry on. Please do go back if anything else untoward happens won?t you? Hope you are taking it very easy. Thanks for updating us on Effie seems as if there will be no babies for this thread today?.!

Naat ? interesting about the cheese thanks for the alphabet help that?s what I was saying so that reassured me sometimes on the phone people get confused between my 3 and 6 too glad aquanatal was so good

Effielou · 21/05/2009 16:38

Hello Juners--- Back home at last.

I want to say a massive thank-you for all your kind messages!! I have been really touched and glad to have you guys as my friends.

Well what a week!! On sun, I was feeling weird and in the end decided to ring delivery and they said to come in. I felt daft and assumed I'd be sent home again ) we didn't take my bag either) On examination they decided to admit me then the contactions started-- over the next couple of days they were on and off coming every 3-5mins and quite painful. cervix was still closed- had it started to dilate then i would have been delivered. I had steriods just incase, to strengthen th babys lungs.

They also discovered I have GBS- which as I'm having a c-section s not too much of a problem, but if its in my wee then i need anti biotics I had a sample sent- but cae back inconclusive so another ones gone off!!!!

The contractions have now lessened, to strong BH-- but only 5ish a day. I was getting anxious, as its DDs b'day this sat and didn't want to miss it.

So they have let me home on the basis that I don't do anything and if any worries i am to go straight back in. I'm also going back in on the 2nd to be monitiored and observed for a week, before mu section. Its good be home and away from the builders that were working outside my window all week!!!

Thanks again for all the lovely messages and will catch up properly tomorrow xx

Love to you all
Any other Juners popped yet?????

Tee2072 · 21/05/2009 16:53

Hi effie! Glad you and LO are okay. Put your feet up and relax!

No one else has popped yet! We thought laura might be, but she got sent home as well!

I think bigcar will be first, as aren't they doing your CS next week, bigcar?

Hope everyone has a lovely evening!

chocciedooby · 21/05/2009 17:28

Wow what an interesting day of posts!
Effie - glad to hear you and lo are ok and back home. Please make sure you rest rest rest.We have all been thinking of you.

lauraloo - You poor pet. You are having such an up and down time and seemingly not getting any real explanations. Keep an eye on those pains and if at all worried get back in touch with MW. Did they not mention doing a scan or anything like that?
Sounds to me like you had a show. My pal was over here this morning and she said she had a show 3 days before labour began, I have never had one but I believe they can occur sometimes a week or so before.

I have been having a lot of strong BH these last couple of days and last night was beginning to think I was going into labour.DH didn't sleep well all night for worry. Anyway, I am fine and really don't think anything will happen for me until my EDD.

My stomach seems to have settled down today too.

Had a mad afternoon. Took the kids to the park after school and managed to get some fresh air without rain! We were having a lovely time until DS2 did a wee and poo in his pants! I had no wipes, no change of clothes etc and had quite a walk to the car. I had also bought the kids ice-creams.So picture me trying to clean a dirty bottom with napkins and being covered in poo whilst ice-cream dripped profusely all over the boot of the car.Poor DS was really upset by it all as I didn't really handle it very well

Mrsmc - Glad DH got his appt at drs and can start to try and get better.
Sorry to hear you had positive Strep B test but at least you know what needs to be done now.
Hi to everyone else.

daisy5 · 21/05/2009 17:47

laura - I am so pleased you went in and got looked at, although, it is a not particularly helpful analysis from them.

Were they at all concerned about 144bp? Did they want to monitor it/ask you to go to the mw again tomorrow or day after?

Was their any explanation or possibilities offered for the severe cramps?

What did they say about the presence of blood accompanied by cramping, if you are not in labour. Concerned at all?

What did they say to you at the end of it all....come back if or _?

mrsmcjnr and june are right. It is your body and sometimes you have to go back again to bring attention to a problem. If you have bad pains or more blood do not hesitate to go straight back, or even go to see a midwife again tomorrow, just to get checked over once more.

naat - the afternoon has been quite lovely hasn't it. One of dd's friend's came over and they played outside. I invited them for 2pm assuming they would leave around 3.30pm but they stayed until 5pm and I am completely shattered. How do you ask people to leave. 3 hours is such a long time to be running around after two kids. I like the playdates that last 1 - 1.5 hours. Any more and it is too exhausting.

mrsmjnr - I had the same fears. On my due date last time, dp and I were both so sick we couldn't get out of bed nor could we speak. I got better quickly but he was still very ill so we went to A&E and explained that if I went into labour there was no way he could come with me in his state. They gave him penicillin and he made a quick recovery. The doctor did say that he would never usually prescribe it for a bad bug, but that in the circumstances he would. I was so grateful because although I had a good friend lined up as birthing partner, he got better just in time for dd's birth five days after due date.

naat - yes, it is fun to watch at times although 'best of the best' is a stretch of the imagination. I hate all the lovey lovey kissing and cuddling at the end after they have just decimated/massacred/assassinated each other in the boardroom.

daisy5 · 21/05/2009 17:49

Good point choccie - did they not do a scan laura?

MrsMcJnr · 21/05/2009 17:53

Effie ? goodness me, those contractions must have been agony poor you and it really does sound as if you have to take it VERY easy. Sorry to hear that you are another one with GBSS issues. I still feel down about it I have to say. Stay well!

Choccie ? poor DS and you!

Daisy ? what a nightmare leading up to your DD?s birth DH is now on antibiotics so I am hopeful that he?ll be much better in the next couple of days. He is also stressing about work though as my folks are away at the moment too but what can we do?

MrsMcJnr · 21/05/2009 17:54

Laura - personally I think you should go straight to A&E if you have more pain or bleeding. I think that you should have been scanned too I have to say. Better do be over cautious when it comes to these things. If you need strength to stand up to these medics just think of ll of us standing behind you!!

daisy5 · 21/05/2009 17:59

I know exactly what you mean mrsmcjnr - dp was in the middle of a big legal negotiation that he was leading. He was off work for 4 days while we were both sick, was back at work for 1 day (feeling weak) and then I went into labour and he was off again. In the end he could only take 3 days paternity as they needed him back so much at work. He got to take the rest later but it was all very bad timing. I guess though, in the big picture of life, it's stressful at the time, but three years later you laugh about it.

daisy5 · 21/05/2009 18:02

laura - mrsmcjnr is so right. Don't forget juicygirl - there is no harm done being a pain in the neck. It's your baby and only you can feel what is happening in your body. If you have to, exaggerate the pain if they are not taking you seriously. I have friends who have gone back to A&E three times, as deep down inside, they have felt that something just wasn't quite 'right'.
