Ha ha! Been leaning over my birthing ball, rocking, in front of the TV... only turn round and see DS leaning over his Pepper Pig ball and rocking, hunched over it like me!

Morning all. God this pregnancy has been a blast.

Really nauseous this morning, in uni to work now, and still feeling it. Basically seems to have been 4 months of constant nausea at the beginning and then nausea on and off the rest of the time! And I usually never feel/get sick.

Bigcar - Sorry! Totally forgot, how exciting about your induction.

Laura, Naat is right, NO furniture moving lady!

Ineed - Yes dd is supposed to be going to my mum's so I do wonder about having the same problem. If baby comes around the date due (ha ha) that would be perfect as she is at her dad's that weekend.

Naat - Whoop whoop on the sleep, must be a relief. I think I may have had a kinky dream involving Bob Dylan last night, is that totally wrong. Bear in mind that despite seeing him doing a gig recently I have no idea what the man looks like these days, my 'Bob' was rather attractive!

Insy - Established labour with dd was about five hours, midwife yesterday was very much like 'you guys can call as soon as things kick off'... sheesh.

Tee - Have a fab day!

Bunny - Last minute gd scares? I know how that one goes, it's probably nothing as well! Fingers' crossed.

Okay, must, must, must edit this report, absolutely covered it in green ink yesterday!

ermintrude13 · 20/05/2009 10:19

Hello all

LittleS and Silk I'm having so many speedy birth dreams - esp after my sister's SIL had hers in 40 mins on Sunday - but makes me think I'm glad I'm planning HB - would rather plop it out in the bath that on the ring road

insy Your DS complained of earache and is now having discharge - could well be a broken eardrum. Whatever GPs tell you, getting water in the ear does not make it produce discharge. That stuff comes from behind the eardrum and suggests a tear. I'd take him to the doc, and if they can't see the drum for discharge, take him back when it's cleared up. My DD had this problem before she was a year old, they would look in her ear and say the drum was intact so refuse antibiotics, and she was 4 by the time I got a referral and the specialist found a massive thin tear the length of her drum which the GPs had all missed so it had got worse and worse with every infection. She had to swim with silicon plugs and a headband and protect her ears in the shower until she was TEN when they finally did a successful graft. Her hearing in that ear will never be perfect again . Sorry to go on, but it's one of my bugbears. Eardrums can heal but with some DC they won't...

bunny hope you can phone in for your results very soon and that they're good.

MrsMc hope things are happier in the Mc household

Morning Naat, Ineed, lauraloo, llynn, Tee and everyone else. Take it easy.

June2009 · 20/05/2009 11:10

Hey bunny my ankles swell up as soon as I put my feet down in the morning, mw said it's normal but to call them if anything else swells up (face, arms, fingers). I've been wearing just trainers for months now

littleS nauseous here too, looks like it's come back this week Dh's just brought me a whole plate of cut up fruits and a cup of tea though, hopefully that should fix me :D

I had a pretty rubbish night last night as well, ils are at eachothers throats again putting dh in the middle mediating everything. That kept me awake going round in my head for a while, then woke me up in the middle of the night as well.
I'm hoping that lo's arrival will take so much of dh's time he will just have to tell them all to sort out their problems between themselves.
I know it sounds pretty harsh but it's been going on for too long (2 years now) and however sorry I feel for them that their parents are going through a divorce they are all adults after all, and shit happens to everyone, it's not that bad fgs...pull yourself together!

I will definitely ask again about baby position tomorrow at the appointment.
In the meantime I'm working sitting on my gym ball today!

We had a car safety workshop yesterday which was really useful. The speaker has set up a place in North london where you can go and try different car seats for compatibility with your car (sent directly from manufacturers to him). It's one morning a week and it's free all you have to do is call the number to make an appointment. the guy was really ace.

Which reminds me that it seems the BC are offering more workshops than I seem to know about...must call them now.

Message on effie's Facebook:

"Hi All. Still an inmate. 34+3 today. Had good night, but contracting again . Being kept in as waiting for wee sample to come back. If gbs is found then I need anti bs. Midwives are fab- dr useless- as he was thinking I was a different patient yest! Hope he's not doing c-section, as he might take something else out!lol. I'll keep u posted xxx"

Doc sounds like a real prize!

I myself had a fabulous 2 hours being pampered. My feet have never been so soft and my eyebrows so trimmed! Worth every penny!

littles I hear you on the nausea. I was being a good wife and making DH his sandwich today. Smelt the mayo and almost hurled. He finished making his own sandwich and mayo is banned!!

laura I'm glad you got BIL coming over. Them not bringing it into your house is rubbish.

Hello everyone else! Can't keep up!!

MrsMcJnr · 20/05/2009 14:05

Littlesarah ? I?ve read up on emergency home births just in case. I know how reluctant I?ll be to go to hospital and I am bit concerned I?ll leave it too long..! I almost forget that I feel constantly sick now it?s been going on so long!

How exciting Bigcar next Thurs

Silkcushion ? great news about the go ahead for the home birth I get the impression that most drs are a bit anti which I guess you can understand as they are generally only involved when things don?t go according to plan!

Poor you Bunnymother I remember that awful day I spent hours and hours at the hospital having that GTT ? grrr! Hope the results come back ok.

Tee ? hope you are having a fab day at the day spa thanks for the update on Effie. Makes the GBS thing very real for me

Hey Ineedmore and Naat

Insy ? bless your DS I get the runs a lot in pregnancy (and got it in the early stages of labour too) I think it?s pregnancy hormones but maybe you should get it checked out?

Laura ? how exciting about the nursery take it easy now!

Ermintrude ? your poor DD with her ear DH back at work but feeling worse than this morning apparently

June ? sorry about the ILs, must be awful!

Effie ? thinking of you hon

Feeling tired and very hot today. The weather has certainly got hotter and I am glad that I won?t be pregnant in the heat of the summer I have to say. Not looking forward to the leaking milk through those hot months though

chocciedooby · 20/05/2009 17:29

Hi everyone. Lots to catch up on.
OOOhhhh...having a strong BH......gone now. Also getting back ache but suffer from that time to time anyway.

So poor Effie is still an inmate waiting...glad she is ok though.

Mrsmc - make sure that dh of yours pulls his weight as soon as better. His mum should be helping you and not just minding him.You have not been getting any rest just lately and really need it before baba comes along.

I am also going to read up on home births.I am getting quite nervous now thinking about labour. I bumped into a neighbour yesterday that has 3 kids. She said she was 9 days late with the 1st, 7 days late with the 2nd and 2 days early with the 3rd!She only just made it into the hospital and had baby within an hour! My second was under 2 hrs so I am concerned that I won't make it in time. Anyway, she said not to take any chances with the 3rd and gert myself in. Dr hs said once contractions are 10 mins apart I am to go in.

Tee - so pleased you had a great spa experience. I had my pedicure this morning and it was heaven. My feet feel so nice and I had a them painted French which I could
never manage myself right now.

June - my feet also swell up as soon as I get out of bed in the morning. Apparently a good massage from dp each day can really help. They need to massage ankle upwards to move fluid.

chocciedooby · 20/05/2009 17:44

sorry about leaving then....didn't finish post as DS1 came into the room with his Arse in the air saying "Mummy is it clean"!!!! Oh the joys....Its all ahead of you 1st timers .

Hi Naat, Silk and Ermin.

LittleS - sorry you are feeling sicky again. How horrible.

Ineed - Hope the ball rocking works for you.

Laura - Its so exciting when new baby stuff arrives. make sure you don't take the cot up yourself though.
Up 10 times in the night?! Poor you.

Insy - Maybe call your MW and mention the runs/cramps just in case. I have had them on and off during this pgy. and especially a few weeks ago but I think I had a bug.Hope you are ok.

Bunnymother - I too can only wear my fitflops. I am getting very tired of looking like Shreks Fiona.

Hi to anyone I have forgotten.

Better get the roast dinner done now. I really want to be cleaned up and tucked in bed. I seem to have hit a wall of tiredness these last 2 days.

June2009 · 20/05/2009 18:07

choccie I'm with you on the tiredness, just slept for 2 hours and I still feel like shite.
Also more and more nervous about labour.

The birth plan in the maternity notes suggest to have 2 people with you at birth (partner and mother/friend).
Do you guys have someone else than your dp/dh?
I'm still considering a doula but coming up to 38w this weekend I'm gonna have to make a decision fairly soon :S

Tee2072 · 20/05/2009 18:23

I'm only having DH june. Even if I wasn't having a CS, I would only have DH. The only other person that I would want there is in California!

Ineedmorechocolatenow · 20/05/2009 18:49

I'm only having DH June - two people would 'do my head in' a bit! It's good in a long labour as they can take a break and not leave you alone. Mind you, if DH had suggested he needed to take a break when I was in labour with DS I may well have gone all 'Anglo-Saxon' on his ass....

OP posts:
Naat · 20/05/2009 18:55

Hi Ladies!

june I'm feeling just like that, I had a nap today and now I'm feeling exhausted again, as if nothing! I'm having only DH, my mum will be here but she'll be in the family room. As we're hypnobirthing our baby the less crowdy the better So sorry to hear ILs are being a PITA and giving your DH (and you) a hard time... DH's mother side is an absolute nightmare, so I can sympathise completely

choccie LOL at DS1 You're also in the tiredness club, I can see... such quick birth you had with DS2!! Glad your Dr told you you could go when contractions are 10min apart, in some places they're absolute dictators with that! They won't allow you to go in until they're 3-4min

mrsmc I'm so hoping you can put your feet up soon! You've had sooooo much these days

tee great pampering session!! Glad you enjoyed it

ermin so sorry to hear about your DD's ear... Docs can be so dismissive sometimes!! Thanks for the info re.nappies, I looked it up on our council's website but they don't offer anything in particular, just give advice on what to do Do you girls know any brand to recommend?

LIttleS LOL at your Bob Dylan dream... I've been having weird dreams, but nothing kinky these days Tomorrow is your presentation! Break a leg! If you need any last minute thing, email!

ineed LOL at your DS!!! How lovely!!! As I told you before, he looks so sweet in your pics!!

laura hope the cotbed arrived safe and sound

Hi to the rest of the Juners!!!

Feeling really tired here But I finished packing my books so

Until later!!!

Naat · 20/05/2009 18:59

Oh my brain!!!

Sorry for the "crowdy" invention, I meant "crowded"

chocciedooby · 20/05/2009 19:22

June - will only be having dh with me.Same as before.tbh I couldn't cope with more people being around. Whenever dh rubbed my back I would scream at him to leave me alone .

I have already forgotten with my mush brain who is having cramps and running to the loo?? I have just had the same and have "been" 3 times today .

Insy - I can't believe you are 1cm already. it took me about 8 hours to get that far with DS1 and boy was it painful! NOw you have me wondering.....

Have to get kids to bed so I can get these fat feet up.

LittleSarah · 20/05/2009 19:32

Naat - Brain dead here too, just did my presentation to dh and totally forgot to time myself. Anyway, pretty sure I am okay there so should be fine, have had enough practice today!

Last day ever at uni tomorrow and have no idea what to do after to celebrate. Dh is going to do nice dinner but I have the afternoon to myself. Was thinking about getting nails done but then I thought should wait til next week to get them done before the ball! Will no doubt just end up going to get measured in Bravissimo or something, might have a wee look for dresses too...

Only dh here for my birth too. Fine with me, was very much in my own 'zone' last time so no real need for anyone else!

MrsMcJnr - Oh I really hope summer is okay here, will never be amazing but would be lovely to be able to go out into warmth!

Love all these quick labour stories, but very scary too! Definitely want to at least have midwife around...

SO can't wait for tomorrow afternoon... all DONE totally! More nesting and resting for me... (plus research obviously but that is pretty easy)..

ermintrude13 · 20/05/2009 19:59

lol @ going Anglo-Saxon, ineed. When the MWs arrive for my hb with DS the first thing they did was close the window becase they could hear me cursing down the street .

Just DH with me. I wouldn't want 2 people there, certainly not a friend, though would be fine with a sister if DH couldn't be there for some reason.

Naat on another thread someone recommended Bumgenius as the best washable nappies. Worth getting them just for the name . I've inherited some Bimbles for newborn size and Totsbots for the next size up but will need to buy in the size 2 and above myself.

LittleS hurrah for a bit of time to R & R

DorisIsAPinkDragon · 20/05/2009 20:47

Hi All,

Have finally taken to making notes whilst I am reading in an attempt to remeber what I was going to say

silk -sorry your dh is not more understanding on the hypnobirthing stuff, I used it with dd2 last time and although dh was (gently) mocking before he has been encouraging me to do it this time. Although not close enough for him to listn as he"doesn't want to relax HIS birth canal" Although saying that I haven't managed a seesion without falling asleep yet, and I'm getting worried now I tried a session this afternoon but still ended up flat out think i'm going to sleep through labour

mrsmcj- at your dh, and hopefully your mil has the holiday out of her system not and she can knuckle down and help you a little!! @ breastmilk in the heat comments dd1 was an August Gib baby! All I remember is the smell of cooked cabbage leaves, drifting through our flat when my milk came in !!! ( I was changing them every 30 mins or so bleuurgh)

tee @ your LO being here in less than 24 days, I think I have about a max of 27 days to go even if I go over!!!!

ineed/ bunny/ tee- done with this pregnacy OH HELL YES!!! In fect i'm done with pregnancy for good!

laura I have been snoring for weeks now, or as dh kindly refers to it " aggressively sleeping" ( or on occasions as a massacre in the donkey sanctuary)

insy I can't believe your plans for today included painting the hall, I have NO energy whatsoever left.... RESPECT!!!!!

ineed I had to laugh at the image of ds on his ball, the dd's just want to p[lay on mine (which is far to big for them and therefore out of bounds (and that much more tempting!)

Choci - we have the same poo issues, although we get (repeated) shouts of "mummmy done a poo poo" pregressing in voilume until someone attends

june regarding the birthing partners it's entirely up to you, I am having 2 as as you al know my mum is a star and very calm and quiet....and helps calm dh but I checked with my mw today as when my dsis had her ds 9 months ago dsis nearly had a stand up fight over the fact that mum would also be present, fortunately they regard a third person as a bonus here. In your situation tho' I think it's a bit late for a doula as you really need to have a good relationship established with that person..... i.e. despite having a great relationship with both my sis's and mil I don't think I would want them there iyswim.

Naat- we have used washables for both dds atdifferent times, imho what works best varies form LO to LO depending on body shape (much like dispoasbles) don't whatever you do buy loads of one brand!!! I'm sure there are schemes where you can borrow samples of each to try with your LO to work out what fits best, you can also buy a few new ones and top up with second hand (honestly not as bad as it sounds!!!!) I'm sure there are cloth users threads on MN.

hi to all the rest of the Juners and my thoughts are still with Effie

As you may have guesed I'm now doing very little but the essentials - pre-school run etc. Had MW this morning for 38 week check all well and good and she'll see me again in a week. That took up most of morning then slept for half the afternoon. Still having back pains (for me most of my labour last time was more back pain) and the odd BH.

Anyway hope you are all having a good evening I'm off now to rest and try and reduce my sausages fingers.

Night all

DorisX

DorisIsAPinkDragon · 20/05/2009 20:47

Forgot to say LittleS enjoy tomorrow!!!!!

MrsMcJnr · 20/05/2009 21:52

?One more dinner ready for the freezer? (sung to the tune of ?10 green bottles)

Choccie ? similar feelings here, can?t help wondering if I am in denial about the imminent arrival of this baby she just can?t arrive yet though. My DH is feeling much worse after a day at work and went to bed when DS did tonight. I need to walk down to the health centre tomorrow morning at 7.30am to try and get him an emergency appointment. I am concerned now that he has been ill with not much improvement since Sat (most of my worry is selfish I know ) he is so run down now, nit what you need just before a new baby. As you say, I need some chill out time before the baby comes so of your pedicure, I was meant to do a DIY one tonight but haven?t got round to it. LOL at your DS, did you DH put him up to that?? Was the 2hr birth with DS the 2nd stage or the whole thing?

June ? I booked a doula thinking that she would be as helpful to DH as to me but in the end I cancelled (for lots of reasons) I am so glad I did, I was only vaguely aware of DH being there (I was in my own little world) but I only wanted him there, anyone else would have annoyed me.

Ineedmore ? LOL at the idea of you going all Anglo-Saxon

Naat ? bet you are getting excited about seeing your Mum

Littlesarah ? wow, all done?? We drank champagne on the steps of Old College but that might not appeal right now!!

Doris ? would be fabulous to sleep through labour August in Gib ? say no more, wow, that must have been hot!! MIL just begged me to let her have a Bacardi, I feel like an ogre but strangely angry too

Apparently they are not up for letting you go much over your due date here I think I?ll have to start buying pineapples and being a bit more proactive after next Tuesday?s appointment if they are making scary prostaglandin comments problem is that at the mo the brain is definitely telling my body NO!

insywinsyspider · 20/05/2009 22:06

ermin thanks for info about ear drums, dh is keeping a close eye on it as he had loads of ear problems when he was little, no one realised he was actually quite deaf till his brother (15 months younger) was talking before him was due to ear infections and he?s had several sets of grommets so its his pet thing too

choccie & littlesarah very envious of your fast labours ? although I realise that makes it a bit scary! And lol at you ds choccie I get (at the top of his voice) ?wipe now please mummy!? from ds1

My mw is on holiday this wk so told that I?d have to go to the hosp if I wanted to talk to someone about the runs sounds a bit extreme ? am going to sit tight for now as not had a poo today, yey, will see if its sorted itself out tomorrow

june I?ve only ever had dh there ? considered having someone else aswell this time but like others have said dh its only one I?d want to see me like that, except maybe my mum but she?ll be looking after boys with my dad

naat nappies ? I?d recommend all in ones (dh flatly refused to use anything else during day) and we have two part (tots bots and wrap) for night time, we have some bumgenius which I are really good and last from birth to potty ? post on the nappies bit of MN think people will have loads of advice there

doris painting done and all clothes down from loft and clean only doing this all so I can have a more restful next few weeks ? shattered today and have cramp in my food hence not in bed yet (and don?t worry bout making notes, I type this message in Microsoft word first then copy and paste it in )

insywinsyspider · 20/05/2009 22:09

mrsmcj at freezer meals... just added that to my list!

LittleSarah · 20/05/2009 22:33

Naat - Nappies, I got tot bots bamboozles as I got a great deal on ebay! Have a look, mine were unused and my cousin uses them and loves them. Sadly they need washed loads before they are at full absorbancy and so that's what I'm in the middle of now. Don't think they will fit immediately - we'll see! - but will probably use some disposables first.

MrsMcJnr - Well done on the meals, I am behind there too. Trying to get the knitting done here, nearly finish my blanket!

Insy - Part of the reason for home birth group at health centre (which they only have every two months!) is to meet more midwives and so have a chance of knowing the ones who come out. Typically the one running it is on holiday first two weeks of June! So pretty unhelpful for me. There are supposed to be a few there but the numpties got confused with the day and so were obviously busy.

MrsMcJnr · 20/05/2009 22:35

Why oh why after feeling tired all day am I now wide awake??

lauraloo09 · 21/05/2009 05:07

morning all been up most of the night with really bad cramp pains thank god i have midwife at 10.30

Last night around midnight i went to the loo (TMI ALERT!!) and after i did the toilet i wiped and found lumps of mucus and when i looked in the toilet bowl I found blood but the blood wasn't watery it was kind of a mass of blood if you know what i mean, poor DH i even got him to inspect the clot of blood and the mucus i found when i wiped . I am wondering if this was my Show?? since then I have had bad period type cramps worse than what i have had before as usually i can sleep thro the pain, the worst cramps being since 4am! Since 4am i have also been to toilet around 3 times feeling the need to wee
Here's hoping midwife can tell me what this is today just wondering if any of my fellow juners knows what this could be??

Naat · 21/05/2009 06:36

laura I know you'll probably say we're being heavy repeating the same and I know you have an appt at 10.30 but if the pain has been that bad since 4am why not call them? Maybe they'll tell you "it's ok, don't worry, come at 10.30" or "maybe you should come now to check you up".
