I am a bit concerned, as I'll be about 14 weeks by then and no-one has even felt my stomach yet or took bllod or anything! Last time i was pg I had a dating/nuchal scan at 12 weeks-so are they not doing this any more? I need to ring them up again on monday i think, but don't want to sound naggy. Plus I have extra complications as I'm oon anti-depressants, my GP said I'd need extra monitoring throughout the pregnany.

Oh well, off camping for the weekend now!

Ninjacat · 01/05/2009 18:48

Lissy I'm really cross at the care you're (not)getting!
You can book a private nuchal but their about £150.
You should definitely phone on Monday.

Hope you you enjoy the camping.

ursigurke · 01/05/2009 19:07

Koumak - you're baby will be fine. There has obviously been enough fresh air in your house (otherwise there would have been a huge problem), so I'm sure you're both fine.

And as I don't have to search for the list, I am going to update it finally with my new offical due date (even if I think it is a bit early):

pedal no alas still feeling like poo...
but I hope all is well with you all and your weekends are good.. I have the guests this weekend and DH has gone to pick them up at the airport..so not in the mood..

lissy get someone to help..that is not normal.you should have had all your blood tests by now. call them on monday and moan..
have a good weekend camping.

Speak to you on mon as I doubt i'll be able to secretly moan on mn about my MS

katster37 · 01/05/2009 20:00

Lissy that's def not on. Whereabouts in the country are you?
I had a 'good' day for sickness today, so of course spent it worrying. Feel a bit sick now though which is good.
Another teacher at my school who is due in August has been in hospital since Wed and has today had to have a caesarian, because of preeclampsia She is only 27 weeks and they think baby had stopped growing and so placenta may have had some problems in the last couple of weeks. I really really hope she is OK.
Does anyone have any positive stories of premature babies? Or preeclampsia? The awful thing is she has been so so swollen since day one pretty much, and just hadn't been aware it was a sign. It was only after people at work nagged her to get it checked that she mentioned it to her GP and he whisked her into hospital... It's all terrifying this baby business!
Anyway, sorry if that is a bit miserable. I hope you'll all have lovely bank hol weekends! I'm going to see my parents, really looking forward to it. Am hoping to feel more sick tomorrow!

helips · 01/05/2009 20:07

Evening all, Had scan and all is very well with the bean! Was in there for half an hour whilst they checked everything and I couldn't believe how clear it was. Feeling very relieved and excited. My chinese take-away has just arrived but I will catch up properly tomorrow, have a nice evening everyone and thanks for the well wishes. It means so much to be able to come on here and talk to you lot

BeckyBendyLegs · 01/05/2009 20:12

Good luck to anyone with guests or going camping this weekend. We have nothing planned this weekend at all except...a scan on Monday!

I'm now going to turn off my lappy, eat some home-made pizza and chunky chips with DH and watch The Big Chill. Then no doubt I'll be asleep by 9.30pm leaving DH watching the rest of the film with my snoring for company!

Katster your poor colleague that must be so hard to be going through. I don't know anyone who has had a baby that early but nowadays they can do so much for such young babies. I hope she is ok.

helips yeah!!!! Enjoy your Chinese takeaway

hobnob57 · 01/05/2009 20:15

lissy we don't get bloods taken here until 16 weeks, and my scan was originally booked for 14 weeks but I phoned up and managed to book an earlier one for 13 weeks. Try giving them a ring and see what happens.

helips my nearest MW-led unit is at the hospital and sadly next door to the labour ward. There is another one but it's even further away from the hospital than we are here (14 miles), so I suspect that was probably colouring the MW's advice too. Not sure I'm brave enough to risk a scar rupture/foetal distress so far away from help, especially given my mum's history of 4 cs's: failed induction; foetal distress; 2 electives. I know, I'm a sissy. But I'm a bit and at my chances of actually having a low-intervention VBAC if I'm anywhere near the hospital. Time will tell, I suppose.

fattypuffs my cs scar has finally settled down after weeks and weeks of driving me berserk (despite not much bulge seeming to grow down there). Hope yours does too.

DH came back from work at lunchtime today because he is so exhausted from stress, poor thing. What a pair we make! He sat and watched snooker online whilst I (and DD upstairs) had a 2.5 hour nap. I feel immeasurably better for it this evening: I managed to cook dinner (unheard of in recent months) AND wash up AND hang up washing AND do bathtime without wanting to curl up and die. Now that's what we call progress!

Shame the nap option is not available at work...

hobnob57 · 01/05/2009 20:21

helips CONGRATS on scan! woohoo.

katster your poor colleague. Our hearts go out to her. Try not to take it too much to heart and start translating worries into your pg though. A good, sick-free day is a blessing not a curse, especially at this stage. Enjoy it while it lasts because it sounds like you may not be out of the woods yet.

ursigurke · 01/05/2009 20:49

katster - I know someone who had their baby at 26 or 27 weeks and it is now a healthy boy of 4. I think, it took a while to get to the same level as the other kids but as far as I know he is as he should be at that age. I hope your colleague and her baby will be fine.

helips · 02/05/2009 06:54

Morning everyone, ds got me up very early this morning and I have left dh snoring in bed

Hobnob thats a shame about the midwife unit, you could still attempt a vbac in hospital, I know a few people who have achieved this and have very positive stories. All you can do is give it your best shot, whatever will happen will happen, you will get your gorgeous baby and be in safe hands.

katster your poor work collegue, hope her and the baby are doing ok, like Becky says the hospitals can do so much these days for prem babies so fingers crossed for them.

Beckybandylegs good luck with your scan on Monday!

I am off to Portugal tomorrow for a week (woo hoo!) so won't be around for a while but just want to say good luck to everyone with scans next week and hope everyone with ms and other various pregnancy ailments start to feel better soon!

turtle23 · 02/05/2009 07:29

Hobnob-I'm going to do the usual doula thing and say nooooo! You can have a VBAC in hospital that can be made to feel like a MLU if they wont let you in. Do you know what the actual scar rupture stats are? They are actually very very low and take all kinds of scars into account. If you would like to borrow some literature on your rights re VBAC and learn a bit more about it, please let me know and I will post to you. (gets off high horse..)

pinkfizzle · 02/05/2009 08:20

Thanks Pedalmonster ninja Usigurke Browntrout for updating this lovely thread. Have a lovely long wend all.

Good luck Lissyglitter with securing a scan, maybe you can secure a cancellation, and don't worry about it, if you really need to you can try scramble the £150 for a reputable private scan or you could write a complaint letter to get some nhs action.

helips congrats on your scan!

koumak must have been worrying but your baby will be aok! Do you let off lethal farts - as maybe your own natural gas was more potent that any opposing gas from the leak? my dh thinks that mine are nuclear.

Breaking news just in - my usual 3am ms kick off was
delayed until 6am, I managed to get 3 more hours sleep, yipee, I can't recall the last time I slept through.

ps turtle you mentioned the doula term, are any of you thinking about employing a doula?

Katser, my nephew was born around then and it's his 5th birthday next week, he's quite a little thing but think that's just the way he is, poss nothing to do with being prem. He spent quite a while in SCBU but was/is fine. Hope all is well for your colleague, it must be so scary.

My 10m DS slept through last night (yipee!!) he's a real stubborn monster, we stopped feeding him in the night about 6 weeks ago, he's big and doesn't need it, just greedy. Have tried water, and doing controlled crying (both worked great for his sister) but he seems to point blank refuse to sleep til morning, even if it is just to wake for 20 mins, trouble is, in this time he screams blue murder - he has a right temper. It just seems like a constant battle with him, but . . . I WILL WIN!!!

Gorgeous weather here (Oxfordshire), hope is for everyone else, enjoy your b/h weekends x

BeckyBendyLegs · 02/05/2009 16:22

I've just had a a freaky experience: I went up to get DS2 up from his nap and I've just woken up in DS2's bed an hour later and NOBODY was in the house. It took me ages to find DH's note 'gone to the swings'. I am so touched. He must have found me and taken everyone out to give me some peace. I haven't had a day time nap for years! It was bliss. I'm now watching Come Dine With Me and thinking how quiet the house is...

The weather is gorgeous at the moment here.

southernbelle77 · 02/05/2009 18:55

Oh beckybb how nice for you! Sounds like bliss!

beepbeep well done on your ds sleeping through, hope he keeps doing it for you )

I'm shattered! Had an exhausting, but productive day! We went shopping this morning, took dd into town to get some new school shoes and then while she was at mil's, I built the new playhouse for the garden, mowed the lawn, put the washing out twice and did some pruning! I'm now totally knackered!!

Was going to do ironing tonight but I'm not doing it now!

We are off to the zoo tomorrow and staying in a hotel for the night which will be lovely!

ldeeanna · 02/05/2009 20:41

Enjoy the zoo Southernbell I love the zoo-i'm jealous!! Stay away from peacock feathers-they are bad luck!!! Had an experience once which keeps me wary!!

Kaster You mut let us know how she gets on..really hpe she is ok-so she's nearly 7 months..I think a lady came into my shop recently who's baby was born at 7 months and she was fine-she still looked like a newborn at 4 months old but was smiling and laughing-it was quite strange but so sweet looking!

Scan on Tuesday-so worried I 've given myself tummy upset and I can't go to the loo when my partner is here-its the only way I remain a lady!!! Im silly I know been together too long for this!! Anyone else the same!!

Anyone know the how common it is to find no heartbeat at 12 weeks scans-I had a good one at 9.4 but still paranoid!

Morning all. DS slept through again (tho not counting my chickens!), but DD was up at 5.45, she's gone into a 'big girl' bed and now can get out, she great during the night, just seems to get up REALLY early (she used to be an 8 O'clock girl).

Southernbelle - what playhouse did you get? I'm wanting to get one for DD, but not wanting to spend too much money. Also jealous of the zoo, am trying to persuade DH we should do a day trip today, feel like we spend so much time 'monging' around the house with the kids and don't really go out and do that much as a family.

Take care all x

pinkfizzle · 03/05/2009 07:02

Hi Everyone, Enjoy your Sunday and I hope it proves to a lazy Sunday morning for all.

We didn't go away this wend due to unpredictable ms, but all this chatter about the zoo has got me inspired, I am going to see if I can wake up dh and convince him to go to the zoo! If he won't go for the real thing then my next option is to take him to harrods with me and look at some rocking horses.

Tabbykat · 03/05/2009 08:08

Morning! Up early as DD has a habit of getting up at 6.15 on the dot - even on a sunday....grrr, so I can fully sympathise Beepbeep

We were heading down to the seaside but weather not looking too promising at the mo. Not that bothered TBH as still feeling so knackered. MS is pretty much gone but I'm just exhausted from the minute I get up to the second I crawl off to bed - sorry for moaning so much, but DH is getting a bit sick of it I think.

Hope everyone else feeling ok and looking forward to a nice relaxing weekend,xx

BeckyBendyLegs · 03/05/2009 09:51

Hello all!

Every Sunday morning I clean the house frantically but it is sooo exhausting. I still have downstairs to do. I always feel a bit resentful as everyone just watches me do it. DH did help me once since I've been pregnant. But I can't complain, he does his bit in other areas and I think he is also getting a bit fed up of my constant tiredness and also lack of desire to play horizontal tennis with him. Is anyone doing the deed regularly? We haven't done it for about 8-9 weeks now. I just can't face it.

We might go to Ironbridge this afternoon. I just feel the need to get out and pretend we are on holiday or something: go to a cafe and treat ourselves to milkshakes and browse the shops.

Well better go tackle the sitting room.

I am sooo nervous about my scan tomorrow. I have this embarrassing problem (tmi alert) that whenever I get nervous I get a bit overactive in the bottom department and this makes it very difficult to fill up with water. The last time I had a scan I drank loads but then really, really needed the loo just before the scan and well, lost it all! I hope it doesn't happen tomorrow.

PootleTheFlump · 03/05/2009 12:25

for you lissy! How awful that you are having to do all the leg work! Hope it gets sorted soon.

Koumak, I don't know much bou tit but think pedalmonster is prob right and your body will keep the baby safe, hope the doctor could reassure you.

It seems as though everyone has a nice couple of days planned, hope the weather holds. We are just off out to a charity cricket match and hopefully a nice picnic. I feel great after a good lie-in and rest. Respect to those of you with los already!
