Congrats to everyone who had their scans yesterday, so nice to hear lots of positive news!

I've got my scan tomorrow and am feeling a bit nervous but excited at the same time!

Whoever mention prawn cocktail pringles, they sound delish! might have to pop to the shops later to stock up

Actually managed a night out with the girls last night and stayed awake until 11pm, a very late night for me at the mo! Had a lovely time and everyone knew about the baby (no disguising it now!) so was nice to be able to talk about it and not make excuses as to why I wasn't drinking!

Hope those with ms start to feel better soon. I've been getting headaches too and did with ds, think you get dehydrated easily when pregnant although I do drink a lot of water. Very annoying!

Cies · 30/04/2009 08:11

Thanks everyone for your at my sonographer. I talked to MIL about it, and she said she had experienced plenty of doctors like this back in the day. So it's nothing new. I'm going to have to toughen up and be assertive for what I want to know and forget the tone it's delivered in.

I've got my first session with the midwife today, and I'm very curious to see what she is like. She sounded very nice on the phone . I've got a list as long as my arm of questions and queries, so I hope I get a chance to ask them.

Anyone with scans today? Good luck if so. I've got a friend arriving tonight from UK to stay for the weekend, so need to clean house and get to the shops to stock up on food. All before driving 1.5 hrs to the airport to pick her up at 10pm . I'm going to need my siesta today.

BeckyBendyLegs · 30/04/2009 08:15

I have an apple every morning when I wake up - I think they are really good for settling the stomach first thing. Having said that I'm now really bored of having an apple every morning. I miss having a cup of coffee and toast and jam. If I tried to have that though I'd regret it I know. I find I can't drink any liquid at all until about mid-morning and then only water or squash.

Prawn cocktail Pringles - that was me Helips - they are the best thing ever at the moment but they are also evil as I am sure they are going straight to my hips! I keep nipping into the cupboard for a handful... current tube nearly run out so might have to find a new supply today!

Fruitpastels · 30/04/2009 08:35

Those with scans today, thinking of you.

My craving for tomatoes is getting out of hand. I seem to be eating them with every meal, apart from breakfast (mmmm, tomatoes on toast!)I think about them all the time! I hope everyone is feeling a little better today with the MS. Nearly the weekend

Tamlin · 30/04/2009 08:40

Thirteen weeks today - is that second trimester?! All the books seem to think it starts at different points.

I'm sorry for all those still suffering from bad nausea - I remember the feeling of despair with ds when I went past the fourteen week mark when I was supposed to start magically feeling better, and then the sixteen week mark (although for what it's worth I think it IS quite unusual to keep throwing up to the bitter end as I did that time.) Thank goodness this time the exhaustion is really lifting already, and the nausea seems better too (although I threw up dinner last night, with ds excitedly trying to stick his head down the loo too...)

Our neighbour just stuck his head out the back door as I was hanging washing, and bellowed at us cheerily 'Stay away, I'm just back from Mexico City! Aaaashoo!' Seriously, we live in deepest darkest Wiltshire - WHY are our neighbours jetting in from Mexico? Dh and I are torn about what to put on his front door - we figure we'll board it up, do the traditional crossbones, and then add a pig for good measure? Suggestions?

pavlovthepregnantcat · 30/04/2009 09:32

Tamlin - lol at your DS putting his head down the loo! How old is he? DD comes running and going 'you poorly gain mama? You be ok?' then running out shouting 'daddaaaaa, mama going bleurgh again, me too bleurgh, bleurgh! , don't ya just love em!

Good luck for the scan helips and anyone else who is due to see their little one waving at them today, hope all goes well.

So far, 3 slices of toast and peanut butter, one apple, cup of hot lemon squash, hiccups and no puking... YEY! a miracle I feel. But I am sure it won't last as I am due to go camping tomorrow for the weekend - barfing in a hedge, nice!

BeckyBendyLegs · 30/04/2009 09:40

Fruitpastels I was just like that with DS2! So funny. I used to buy myself those lovely big plum tomatoes and some fresh basel and just eat a plate of them with nothing else for lunch every day. Bliss. DS2 hates tomatoes with a passion!

sleeplessinthecity · 30/04/2009 09:42

Very of your bedroom activities. I'm sure DH will be disappointed for a while to come. The nausea just isn't helping. However DD woke at 8.30am !!!! don't really know whats happened..woo hoo..it was a lovely lie in..

Yes ursigurke you def top me..although I love having my in-laws..they are such great help so I get a rest..but that is WAY too many people..at the mo.. I detest other people..especially those who are not feeling ill and enjoying life!!! ..

I just want to start feeling good and happy again. My throat is still raw from chucking up this morning- sigh..

Tamlin how about a pig with a hankerchief?

Laugs · 30/04/2009 09:45

Hi all,
I haven't been around for almost a week so just catching up on all the news - glad to hear it's mostly good.

I was sure my MS had gone as I had a run of about 5 days without being sick at all, but it was back on Tuesday and then yesterday I had a friend come up to stay - about 5 minutes after we'd finished dinner I was sick and then went to bed for an hour while she minded DD. I managed to get up and lie on the sofa watching the Apprentice, but then went straight to bed again. I feel quite sad actually as she's my best friend and I don't see her very often any more. Normally we are up til 3am drinking wine and putting the world to right, so I feel like I've let her down a bit.

This morning I dropped DD at nursery and went in the shop next door. There was a realy smelly lady standing next to me and straight away I felt the sickess rising. I maaged to keep it together in the shop, but rushed outside and was retching next to the bin, while holding myself up on DD's empty pushchair - I must have looked a right sight, the local mad woman!

Good luck to anyone who has scans today and to Pavlov for managing to keep her food dow.

BeckyBendyLegs · 30/04/2009 10:28

I'm sitting here 'working' in front of the TV and an advert for McDonalds has just come on. Oh my god I NEED to go to McDonalds now!!!!! (I've run out of Pringles anyway.)

turtle23 · 30/04/2009 11:14

I have been in tears all day as feeling progressively worse. I just want the house to clean itself and somebody to play with DS. I can't take much more of this...I feel like I've been poisoned.

BeckyBendyLegs · 30/04/2009 11:25

Oh Turtle I'd come over right now and help you out if I lived nearby. I'd have to bring DS2 though but he could play with your DS. Have a virtue hug .

sleeplessinthecity · 30/04/2009 11:52

Sorry turtle what a mare..I feel the same..yuk yuk yuk..get some fresh air, even through the window and watch something funny..

DD being particularly upset today..she is screaming for the both of us.

laugs I'm sure your friend was more than happy to help out and feel needed too. Sorry you had to wretch outside. What a nightmare.

Do you lot think it gets worse before it gets better..? feels like a life sentence at the mo..

helips · 30/04/2009 12:28

beckybandylegs mmm I love pringles, they are so moorish, once you pop you can't stop!

pavlov glad you are feeling better today and that you've been able to eat something.

turtle sorry you are feeling so rubbish, do you have any family nearby who could help out?

My midwife came round this morning and we discussed me having a home waterbirth, she was very positive and has really put me at ease (had cs last time and would prefer not to repeat!) Also I got to hear the little beans heartbeat which was lovely, feel much better about having my scan tomorrow now I've heard that.

Ninjacat · 30/04/2009 13:27

I'm feeling very sorry for myself today I'm afraid. I'm still in bed and have not even made it to the sofa. Lovely dp managed to get the DR to do a home visit because I can barely stand up. I have sinusitis, an ear infection and a high temp apparently. ABs are on their way so fingers crossed all will be well again soon.

I'm getting quite worried though because I don't really have any pg symptoms any more, not even sore breasts. Will be 11 wks tomorrow.

Also haven't made it to Liverpool conference and was looking forward to a night in a posh hotel. Still I'm being well looked after here and can't think of any where I'd rather be right now.

Hope the sickness calms down and the sex lives pick up.

Promise to ad a non whinging message soon x

turtle23 · 30/04/2009 15:16

Sorry for being so mememe. Thanks all. My family are in the states and DH's parents are 80+ so we usually just get on with it. Thank god for cbeebies is all I can say.

weston · 30/04/2009 15:52

becky our stomachs must be in tune...just had a lovely mc donalds for lunch..vanilla milkshake...chips..chicken...yum yum yumm and i thought ye were halluncinating with prawn cockatil pringles as never seen them and usually head straight for the paprika ones but as i paid for my goods at asda what should leap our and jump into the trolley..will do a taste test tonite...

pavlovthepregnantcat · 30/04/2009 16:29

Some of the food you ladies are wanting is not doing my stomach any good! MacyDees? bleurgh! Prawn cocktail pringles? Bleurgh!

Give me apples and pasta with tomatoes and cheese, every day for the next 7 months, I will be fine! Along with Rocks lemon squash mixed with sparkling water. That will do thank you!

LissyGlitter · 30/04/2009 16:39

I got overconfident last night and invited some friends round, I cooked some pizza and garlic bread and while they drank thier beer I had cherryade...I think the cherryade must have messed up my blood sugar as I was throwing up all morning and only got out of bed at 2pm as I felt so guilty that dd hadn't had any lunch. (she was happily watching cbeebies on iplayer on my laptop in my bed, and patting my back as I threw up into a bucket by the bed) I've managed a banana, half a cup of tea and half a fruit corner and I'm pretty sure I will be seeing them again soon

Still no news from the midwife, should I ring and ask? I'm 12 weeks on monday and they only have a short window to do the scan in don't they?

BeckyBendyLegs · 30/04/2009 17:04

Pringles are paying me commission for this free advertising I am doing for them! I wish!

I feel really sick this afternoon after about a week of feeling fine. Bleugh. Going to try a milkshake.

LissyGlitter poor you that sounds really tough for you. Your DD is a star though looking after you

Ring the midwife.

katster37 · 30/04/2009 18:12

Oh Lissyglitter and Turtle how awful for you both. t's not pleasant this whole sickness thing, is it?
Well I am about to attempt some roast chicken and mash. Not sure how it will go down...
Pavlov hope you're having a better day.

sleeplessinthecity · 30/04/2009 19:06

Oh lissyglitter thank good for cbeebies..hope you feel better sweet..

All of you stop feeling guilty for going on about memememe...we are having a really rubbish time and i am glad i can let it out to you, so should you.

I want to step out of my body..just for one second to feel good again..I just cannot bear this any longer.. SO BORED OF FEELING SHI7e

LissyGlitter · 30/04/2009 19:12

becky I will ring the midwife tomorrow, see what's going on.

My dad just rang-he wants to take me and dd camping at the weekend. I agreed, as I don't think it will make much difference if I'm throwing up in a field or in my house!
Plus it's a lovely little farm campsite that dd will love and it's only about half an hour away from home-we will even be coming back to watch the local football team on sunday then going back to the campsite. I'm quite excited, I've not been camping since I was about 15, unless you count festivals-any tips for camping whilst pg and with a toddler? I'll go and post on the camping forum too.

hobnob57 · 30/04/2009 20:24

katster I so admire you for enduring full-on MS at work. I teach, but thank goodness this time the distraction of lessons really seemed to ease things - I tended only to throw up at home. So long as I had easy access to dried apricots, chocolate and lettuce to nibble on I was fine. Don't feel bad about taking time off - see your GP, you need the break.

helips I asked my MW about a homebirth after a cs and she was pretty clear that whilst I was well within my rights to ask for anything I wanted, I was no longer low-risk and she certainly wouldn't recommend being too far from the hospital. In fact, I may have to kick up a stink to even be allowed in the midwife unit as opposed to dreaded old labour ward. My cs was a failed induction and I still have a few hang-ups about it, and would rather not see labour ward again!

southernbelle how are you doing? I'm now coming to terms with the wait for the scan - I think it's been such a busy week and now Tuesday is within touching distance I'm feeling much better. I had a parents' evening last night so was knackered today, and I don't know if it's coincidence but my bulge has felt like it's really swelling today which has helped me too. I haven't felt it do that for about 10 days. Saying that, it could just be bowel stuff....

Apples have definitely been my saviour this pg, as well as decaf coffee, strangely. I thought that I'd go right off the stuff but it makes me feel much better whenever I have it. Been feeling a bit more dodgy today than of late, but in a weirdly different way. DD had a temperature at the childminder's today, so I hope I'm not in for something. Time to go and lie on the sofa and glare at DH for watching snooker all evening

PootleTheFlump · 30/04/2009 20:36

So sorry for all of you still feeling so rubbish, really hope it does pass soon.

Quick question - has anyone taken the step of stopping their folic acid yet. Scan showed I'm 12 and a bit weeks but I forgot to ask. Is it silly to ring the mw to check, or should I be fine to stop it (feels like a bit of a step!!)
