Hopefully this has worked?

koumak glad my DH can't read this! he would be very jealous!

When I was in SW11 (sigh -the good ole days) I saw the midwife as much as scarlotti. I have to say i was really relaxed and not worried at all, oblivious to all that can happen. I didnt MN until baby was born..when DH logged on on day 3..WTF to do with a v v hungry baby and wife with sore nipples!

katster I felt drunk all day for 3 whole days in the third week. I have to say the gp was mad for not taking you BP!!! Your iron levels are prob low..are taking vits??

lemontop · 26/05/2009 17:35

homeinthesun it's close to Limassol! I honestly can't wait. It sounds like me and DP will be the youngest in the hotel by a long way as there's talk of saga dinners and dances but that kind of pace will probably suit me just fine. It'll be our first and last holiday for a while.

Just checked and my antenatal appointments go like this.

booking in 8-10
scan 11-13
16 weeks midwife
22 weeks anomoly scan
25 weeks GP
28 weeks midwife
31 weeks GP
and then alternate midwife /GP appointments every 2 weeks from 34 weeks. Yikes!

BeckyBendyLegs · 26/05/2009 17:49

I'm fed up of broccoli. DH means well but we've had broccoli to eat every week for the last two months or so and I hate the stuff, makes me gag

Sorry, just felt like having a rant (having just chopped the vile stuff and put it in the steamer ready for cooking our tea).

katster37 · 26/05/2009 17:57

BeckyBL we used to eat broccoli all the time before I was pg - the second I conceived (Ok, well maybe not the second) I developed a huge aversion to the stuff, and have managed to stomach one floret since then! Yuck, yuck, yuck. In fact, as a former big vegetable fan, the thought of green veggies is a huge turn off.... Eeeeew

Got picky friends coming round for dinner tonight. Six of them. One veggie, one who doesn't eat anything, one who won't eat fish or most vegetables and hates most other stuff including anything vaguely spicy.... Aaaagh! Am tempted to shove a variety of frozen pizzas in the oven, but they are all culinary geniuses and I am clearly not...

BeckyBendyLegs · 26/05/2009 18:03

Katster you are brave having that lot round for dinner! How about broccoli surprise? Sorry, got broccoli on the brain... You could just make a big pot of (veggie) stew and call it 'Katster's amazing yummy stew' and tell them you can't let on what is in it because it's an old family recipe. They either eat or starve!

Tamlin · 26/05/2009 18:23

I actually think that the pizzas aren't a bad idea... If you made (or sneakily bought) pizza bases or halved some ciabattas, and then got in some nice pesto and tomato base, they could make their own - bacon bits and chorizo for the non-veggies, sliced mushrooms and olives and mozzarella for the veggies, nowt for the pickiest. (The hardest person I've ever had to cook for was somebody suffering from Crohn's - she sent me a TWO PAGE list of dietary restrictions, but oh well, I have a lot more sympathy for that than I do for your plain picky eater...)

I'm still throwing up after dinner, and I think I've worked out what the problem is - I seem to be having some sort of reflux (bloody pregnancy) and as soon as dinner comes up even a little, I then wind up chucking the lot up. Has anyone had any joy coaxing some sort of heavy-duty prescription Gaviscon-type stuff out of their GPs..?

Felt the baby kicking properly again today - I was lying down during DS's nap, and there it was, boot boot boot. It felt as if he or she were busy rappelling down my insides, using the umbilical cord as a rope - it's funny, all the kicking is making me lean more towards a 'she' for some reason. Hopefully will find out in a few more weeks - if my hospital ever books my anomaly scan. Ahem.

pavlovthesmugcat · 26/05/2009 18:27

God I am starving DH is cooking, he taking toooooooo long. I want it now or else the window of enjoyment will have past, it will become a thing that needs doing in a very short while as I am starting to feel sick. Hurry. Up!

Sex is a non-starter here too. DH is actually feeling quite rejected by it. . Like its personal or something...!

Oh, its ready....yeah!!!!! be back later, catch up properly x

pavlovthesmugcat · 26/05/2009 18:28

Tamlin - I got gaviscon by the bucket load in last pregnancy I just asked for it.

ursigurke · 26/05/2009 18:45

Katster - I had this fainting feeling as well on the weekend (and problems with my throat). It's a shame that your GP couldn't really help you. I guess, the combination of being pregnant and sick in the same time makes your body a bit weak. Make sure that you eat enough vitamins (especially VitC), drink enough and have enough iron. I am really obsessed with my iron-level because the midwife had told me that I needed blood tests more often if there was something wrong with my iron level. So I am eating meat at least twice a week (at least once beef) and the iron level is just perfect.
And about your dinner tonight: poor you. I agree something like plain pizzas to put on extra stuff could be nice. Or do you have puff pastry or anything similar at home? You could prepare two or three different tarts or pies. Or how about a glass of water for those two who do not eat (almost) anything? And I always thought I was a fussy eater.

About my antenatal appointments: I think it is pretty the same as lemontop mentioned.

pavlovthecat · 26/05/2009 19:58

My dinner did not stay down . Too late, too much flavour and he used bloody garlic.

hobnob57 · 26/05/2009 20:47

Tell him that dinner MUST be consumed before 5:30 to stand any chance of staying down (or if you have a DH like mine, he cooks late just so he can have the joy of finishing your plate as well as his own!).

Feeling oddly ill today actually, especially as I've been so well recently. Think I'm knackered, and Pilates on a Monday really seems to take its toll. Not giving it up though - I'm determined to stay as active as possible before the SPD really kicks in (which, actually, I think it started to do today - grrr).

pavlovthecat · 26/05/2009 21:02

hobnob - i tried. he is addicted to a computer game which has taken over everything. grrrrrr.

Are you doing pg specific pilates or normal pilates? i did pg pilates last pg, it was great, want to go back this time if i can stop being sick enough!

hobnob57 · 26/05/2009 21:26

I'm still at my normal pilates class, although it's amazing just how different if all feels! I'm wrecked even doing simple things. We're on to balance balls now which are harder work, but I'm going to try and stick with it to 20 weeks because I don't think there's a class over the summer, by which point I'll be 27 weeks and pretty much ready for pregnancy yoga by then!

Considering getting a DVD for the summer. Any recommendations?

Tamlin · 26/05/2009 21:43

pavlov, you're not a WoW widow like me, are you?

sparklycheerymummy · 26/05/2009 21:52

Hello November girls....... not quite sure where I belong now..... had my scan today and they have changed my dates from the 5th Dec to 28th Nov. I am on the Dec thread but thought I should stop by here and say helllllloooooo!!!!

LissyGlitter · 26/05/2009 22:25

Hi Sparkly!

My DP has been lovely today, we were going to take DD to playgroup, but it's cancelled for the half term, and the alternative activity was all booked up, so we all went into town and met my sisters and their friends, wandered around for a bit, then when DD started getting grumpy, DP took her home for a nap while I continued window shopping. When I got home he had done loads of housework, then he encouraged me to go for a soak in the bath, when I got up he cooked tea (with DDs "help"-she ate it all up! Recently she's been messing about a lot at mealtimes, but helping to cook seemed to really enthuse her) then he washed up while I played with DD and took her to bed, then when I got downstairs he got all frisky and marched me upstairs and gave me a good seeing to Now I'm relaxing in bed while he has nipped out for a quick pint, which I think he has earned today!

turtle23 · 27/05/2009 08:29

I am beginning to panic...have a holiday booked for next week In Egypt. It's going to be 35+ some days. What have I done?

BeckyBendyLegs · 27/05/2009 09:42

Turtle just make sure you find lots of buildings with air con and take a big floppy hat! Perhaps it won't be quite that hot all of the time.

Hello Sparkly! Welcome!

I was really, really naughty and treated myself to two Isabella Oliver (see what you lot have done to me?) tops and they've just arrived in a lovely box all wrapped up so nice and I tried one on and it is divine! No more though: I am going to stick to what I had previously for the DSs and this little bit of luxury.

I can't believe it is half way through half term already - the DSs are very excitable today as we have a friend coming over to play soon.

pedalmonster · 27/05/2009 10:21

Morning all
Great news - got the results from the blood test and we are Screen Negative for downs. 1:1200 (because I am so old - 39!)so quite pleased with that.
Bad news - think i am definitely going to lose my job. but actually blessing in disguise as I have been saying (to the universe) for months that I want to be a stay at home mum. Its just the waiting that is killing me - and Bump doesnt like it either as I have been very sick lately.

BBL oooh how lovely, the Isabella Oliver packaging is wonderful - how special do YOU feel!
Turtle you can wallow in the pool - but use lots of sunscreen as preg ladies get that weird pigmentation patchy skin in the sun!Sparkly welcome - you are very cheery! Make me feel slightly guilty for being grumpy. haha.

Re: Baby dancing - um - what? To be honest its a miricle I am even pregnant! DH is so stressed at work that i think we have only done it twice this year - the last time was because I knew i was about to ovulate and basically jumped on him (not at all passionate, but at least I got a couple of the best swimmers!). Now he thinks it is "unnatural" to have sex - and he shudders visibly when he looks at my tummy. Nice. very reassuring. When I told him I was preg he said "how did that happen? we didnt even have sex!" um, yeah we did. He does wait until he knows I will not be keen to proposition me though - like when I have just thrown up he asks if I would like to give him a BJ. Classy guy - I should sell him on ebay but I dont think anyone would buy him!

katster37 · 27/05/2009 10:21

BeckyBL like the sound of the tops! I am pleased as I have found a pair of jeans that still fit comfortably, so am hoping to live in these when not at work! Although going into town today and may have to have a sneaky peek at the Topshop maternity stuff....

Thanks for all your tips on the cooking front... In the end I went for a veggie risotto, then also made a stir-fry chicken, pepper and sundried tomato concoction which people could add into their risotto if they wanted. Seemed to go down OK although typically a certain person didn't like sundried tomatoes!!

Turtle if there's a breeze it won't feel that hot, and you can always hided in the shade / air-conditioned places? Is your accommodation air-conditioned so atleast you can sleep? Quite often it's the humidity that makes it feel uncomfortable so maybe it won't be too bad?

BeckyBendyLegs · 27/05/2009 10:37

Oooooh I feel super indulgent now as the dress DH won on ebay has just arrive too in another Isabella Oliver box!!! I feel like it is my birthday! I might need some training though in working out how the dress works - it is all wraps! It is lovely though and even though it is second hand it is quite good quality.

Katster your meal sounds lovely. I can be a fussy eater (didn't eat anything except mash, cheese and ketchup until I was about 5 apparently) but I'd so go for a veggie risotto.

Pedalmonster good for you deciding to go the stay-at-home mum route. You could always go down the freelance / own business route one day in the future if you wanted to return to the world of work - I was reading about some of the things other mums do the other day in a magazine article - very inspiring. There are lots of opportunities.

katster37 · 27/05/2009 10:42

Pedalmonster Sorry I didn't see your post - think we x-posted. Sorry your work situation is still so stressful and you are being sick. But sounds like it could def be a blessing in disguise - I would love to be a SAHM.

I have just been to the dentist and needed a filling - first in my life! They dentist reassured me it was fine to have when pg, it was a white one and only v small (only took a minute) so hopefully it is not a problem, but all the American websites say not to have them I did ask about 14 times though, so don't think she would have taken any risks. And it was free!

katster37 · 27/05/2009 10:43

Oh, and should add, while she was doing that 'teeth cleaning' thing at the end with the hoover, I had to leap off the chair to throw up!!!! the embarrassment! My MS is definitely back, after a week of teasing me that it was on the way out!

BeckyBendyLegs · 27/05/2009 10:48

Katster white fillings are fine. I think it is the metallic ones they don't like you to have when pregnant. I am impressed this is your first filling!!! Poor you throwing up though

ursigurke · 27/05/2009 10:52

Katster - I am sure it was better to get the filling! If you waited until the baby is born or even after breastfeeding, it would have been a huge problem. Sorry for throwing up at the dentist!
pedalmonster - I am sorry about your job problems. just try to focuss on the positive side (but that would be much easier if you got a definite decision)
Becky - I feel really guilty now as I had started that whole Isabella Oliver discussion. To make you feel better, I will finally order that dress (well, I am hesitating between the one we all had discussed and the one with the longe sleeves and ruffles, which I would prefer but maybe stupid for summer and not so much for the evening)
