hey ladies,

so many south of the river! I'm in Blackheath (SE3) so not too far away..

Marmite, I know easier said than done, but you need to find a way to let it all wash over you. I had a horrid day on Wednesday, but kept trying to focus on that I've just got until Christmas of having to smile and say 'not a problem, leave it with me' when I want to stab them in the eye with a pencil. Then I get a whole year of this being someone else's problem and everyone realising I'm actually quite good at this...

bluespix77 · 05/06/2009 11:49

Morning all, am so excited its Friday! I'm totally knackered and can't wait for a long lie in tomorrow!

We went for our second scan today - there was a tiny little bean with a tiny little heart beat, which was such a relief. We still have a good 5 weeks to go to the 12 week mark, but I feel a lot calmer about the whole thing now. The Doc explained that about half of pregnant women experience some sort of bleeding wk 1 - 14 and whilst it is common, its not considered normal, so it should always be checked out.

Hope you all have lovely weekends

sleepingalot · 05/06/2009 11:57

Really pleased for you bluespix77...Friday came around at last!

It does feel like a waiting game and as though your wishing your life away... I have a scan at 9 wks next Thur and wishing time would go faster.

dal21 · 05/06/2009 12:26

Hello all.

Marmite - am at your experience at work. And am so so sorry. Your colleagues are nothing but insenstive oafs (and that is putting it extremely lightly). You know, when I come across people like that, I always wonder what makes them think that such behaviour is humane. Forget work politics/ office banter - where is their actual genuine compassion and humanity? I can't tar all city folk with the same brush (as I actually know some lovely people who work there), but I would say that a good 70% of them have some sort of chip inserted that bypasses their basic decency. Bastards. Non polite term.
Am also sorry to hear about your GP.

Bluespix am so very happy for you! Well done little bean! Yay!

Fififorget - please dont worry that your symptoms are different this time round. Mine are too! And fingers crossed, my little bean is still busy growing!

How fab that so many of you are so close together! I see a meet up happening!
I am in Surrey - right next to Cheam (without getting too specific). Anyone else down here?

Beanieb - On the off chance that you are still popping back, am thinking about you.

Right - DS sounds as though he has settled for his nap, my bed is calling me. Heaven! Love the days I dont work!

skidoodle · 05/06/2009 14:58

dal I'm not working today either, it's my day with DD. I have totally got out of the habit of napping though, so now she's awake again and I'm yawning my head off

Fififorget my symptoms are totally different second time around too. I'm not sure whether to be worried or not so I'm just trying to enjoy having this early stage without spending every waking moment feeling like death warmed up.

bluespix great news about your heartbeat

Hi everyone else

DD is saying her new word "pickapock" that she learnt from me this morning as for some reason I was singing Pick a Pocket or Two

She's learnt some important life lessons today

"Why should we break our backs, foolishly paying tax"

and

"When I see someone rich, both my thumbs start to twitch"

So tax evasion and stealing , we've covered a lot in one morning.

VivClicquot · 05/06/2009 15:11

Hi everyone,

A fleeting hello from me - it's my last day in the office before my week in Spain, so am frantically trying to get everything done.

We plan to tell my parents, sister and BIL about the pregnancy while we're on holiday as they will be there with us - it's my dad's birthday on Tuesday so fingers crossed I can keep schtum until then and announce the news as a bit of a birthday surprise.

(Tenner says I buckle on Saturday evening, when my mum asks me if I want to share a bottle of wine with her.... )

Hope you all have wonderful weeks - and good luck to those of you with scans next week.

timmette · 05/06/2009 15:16

Have fun Vivcliquot am .
Hi everyone hope we're all feeling very pregnant and I have a confession I am sitting here in maternity trousers - they are under the bump ones and are fitting like normal trouser just more comfy - there is no bump but I am getting very bloated every day and feel like a bit of a fraud wearing them - but at least I am confy . Oh the shame and am only 9 weeks someone make me feel better.

MrsBadger · 05/06/2009 15:16

hello hello

due 31st Jan but will only be a periodic poster due to not being able to MN at work, home laptop breaking down, DH working away and a 22m dd...

anniemac, I want your top tips on bargainous (ie not IO) maternity coats - by Christmas we will be the most stylish eggs-on-legs around

starshaker · 05/06/2009 15:43

well i had my scan today and.............. they think twins. Thats all i need lol there is 2 blobs in 1 sack but the cant confirm it till july (im sure they could but they wont) so need to wait till july 27th to know for sure

timmette · 05/06/2009 15:45

Wow starshaker big news . Congratulations

Treats · 05/06/2009 15:50

Can I quickly gatecrash with a message for lottie from a former temping buddy? So, so, so thrilled to hear your news. I knew you'd get there in the end! And twins! Really? Praying that everything goes well for you.

I'm currently 22 weeks and all going well. Don't know the sex of the baby but it's certainly making itself felt!

anniemac - you don't know me but I saw you often on the Conception boards, so am really pleased to see you here. Sending my best wishes to you too.

somewhathorrified · 05/06/2009 15:56

So the midwife came by today; she always asks if I have any questions...er, I don't know if I haven't got to grips with this pregnancy lark, but I was under the impression it kinda went like this: night of fun (or afternoon as it was), followed by ever enlarging boobs and tum, then the ejection stage. It all happens automatically and doesn't really require my involvement all that much (except with the pushing bit). Am I missing some vital stage that requires questions that everyone else asks? I keep expecting her to laugh at me and say "yes, but you never asked about that!"

Can I also just whinge for a sec...why oh why do they think I need to know how to lay a baby in a cot at 8-9weeks preggers...talk about jumping the gun!

Sorry about this guys, I'm just feeling a tad out of my depth with the whole thing.

singalongamumum · 05/06/2009 16:14

OMG somewhat- your midwife is keen! She came round your house and told you how to lay out your baby in a cot? I can't believe that; is yours the only baby in your county being born in the next year?!? Blimey. My midwife gave me a cursory glance, filled in 25 million forms, took blood and said she'll see me at the birth, pretty much! I think you're attitude is a good one, you may have questions about your birth choices nearer the time but for now, sit back and enjoy the nausea and enlarged boobs!

VivClicquot hope you have a lovely holiday...

timmette am feeling the same...bloated... but not sure if it is a new found love of giant chocolate buttons that's making my tummy start to look and feel bloated. In fact I'm quite obsessed about them... DH has been working away all week and has a real sweet tooth & I'm thinking about where I can hide them from him...

starshaker that's exciting news - congats

somewhathorrified · 05/06/2009 16:34

Singalongamumum don't get me wrong, my midwife is really nice. I've just been a tad suprised at the forward planning and information. She's said nothing about what I should or shouldn't be doing at this stage, which is a godsend 'cause I loathe being told what to do, only info about events 7 months from now . Oh well at least I won't be suprised when the messy bit happens.

Oh and btw, not to rub it in but no MS here. My boobs are making a concerted effort to escape the confines of every bra I own, and abdominal pain now and again. I'm thinking I've gotten off lightly.

skidoodle · 05/06/2009 16:54

starshaker congratulations

You have to wait until the 27th of July to find out for sure That's inhuman. How can they possibly expect you to wait so long?

PMSL @ sleepingalot hiding her giant buttons from DH Also the fact that it's the giant ones you love and the regular ones just wouldn't do.

somewhathorrified I can't recommend going to a good bra shop and getting measured properly for a bra (to get you through at least some of your pregnancy.) highly enough. Of course I say that, but I'm still wearing my nursing bras and have no idea where I'll find the time. But I've always found "do what I say, not what I do" a good maxim to live by

Hello!

Skidoodle - I didnt fall asleep today (first time I didnt)- but I am making myself lie down otherwise DS will wake up and yes there will be fresh soup...but there will also be a grouchy mummy. . The lying down definitely helps!

MrsBadger - we were on the due sept 07 thread together! Congrats and welcome!

Vivcliquot - have a fab time in spain!

Starshaker - congrats!!!! You will have the patience of a saint if you wait that long! How are you feeling about it?

Somewhat - LOL at your midwife. She would've totally freaked me out! I hadnt even gotten my head round the whole baby concept at this stage with DS! Oh and your symptoms are identical to my 1st trimester with DS. Not a smidge of nausea or morning sickness, but overnight I turned into a page 3 girl.

Anniemac - hope your week doesnt turn out to be too stressful.

Londonlottie - try preggie pops too! They are really helping me.

So question - how many people have told people about the pregnancy?
I was at the GP today, in the waiting room with DS and another lady started chatting to me. Asked me if I was there for a pregnancy test. (Am wearing one of my normal tight fitting tops as no need to hide tummy on a day off). Guess it looks fairly obvious then. And am only 7 weeks. Work people are so going to guess (if they havent already)

Biccy · 05/06/2009 18:29

Hi guys, just a quick post to recommend Elderflower and apple juice, mixed with ice, slice of lime and sparkling water... feels absolutely wonderful on my bloated, sick feeling tummy. Bleugh. Still, have to smile every time I rest my head on a cupboard door - so glad to have these symptons!
