Hi Laurawants I have been suffering with back pain and cramps too. Happy to hear that it is normal!

lilacpink - I got those patches on my face with dd1. It looked like I had been sunbathing with big sunglasses on - there were dark patches on both cheeks under my eyes. And a shape of a counrty (could of been India?!) on my head!! What was all that about!

Checked my weight and I have put 2lb on already- am only 6 weeks!! Is this normal??? Any links to a chart which show what 'normal' pg weight gain should be???

beanieb · 30/05/2009 09:28

Blocka, you may have put weight on becxause of constipation or water retention. I weighed three pounds more yesterday than I do now!

beanieb · 30/05/2009 09:33

more info on weight gain here

laurawantsababy · 30/05/2009 09:39

Thanks, I think I will tell Mum and Dad. Dps Mum and Sdad live in America and were planning a visit here near due date - Ahhh. I think we will have to tell them too so they change the dates

I woke up with an awful headache today - I have had one on and off all week but caved and had one paracetomal! It has done the trick.

Also I have noticed my stomach is swollen. Not sure how long this baby will stay a secret for

Looking forward to enjoying the weather today - We have clear blue skies in Somerset - Woo hoo!

Blocka · 30/05/2009 09:40

Thanks beanieb ! I am very constipated and loads of gas - so maybe thats the problem!!

beanieb · 30/05/2009 09:58

Me too with the gas

sazlocks · 30/05/2009 10:14

morning all - sat at my desk as studying. Have a 10,000 word dissertation to hand in in mid Aug.
Feeling pretty sickly, tired and very, very, very grumpy. Which is nice . Am slowly but surely driving DH mad.
Still these are the joys of being pregnant - no ?

London Lottie!!!

Huge huge huge congrats! Yay!!
What fab news! Not only one healthy and sticky bean but two!!! What lovely news!

How are you feeling? Has it sunk in yet?

Re. the weight gain...I reckon I have gained lots more than that already. I wouldnt worry too much. With DS, I gained a stone in my first trimester (which was way over average weight gain for 1st trimester)...then only a further stone of the rest of my pregnancy. I was a little on the skinny side pre both pregnancies, and I have come to the conclusion that it is my bodies way of preparing. One of my friend was the exact opposite, actually lost weight due to such severe morning sickness, then piled it on from 4.5 months onwards...horses for courses and all that.

Sazlocks Hope the studying is going well.

Londonlottie - congrats once again!!

Ohhh marmite, any chance you can blame it on eating too many 'treats'.
I plan on blaming the great food in corfu when I see my boss next week...he may buy it.

How you feeling about going back?

Londonlottie thats fab news! How exciting!

marmitemonster the tampax idea is a great, I like it!

Hope you're all enjoying the sunshine, DH is working on our decking whilst I snooze/chat on mumsnet as I am so tired - probably because I got up to pee 5 times in the night!

sazlocks · 30/05/2009 15:24

how exciting londonlottie so thrilled for you
marmitemonster hope it goes ok next week happy weekend everyone

Blocka · 30/05/2009 15:48

WoW Londonlottie!!! Amazing news!!

Can't believe we are going to be tracking the development of twins! So exciting!

marmitemonster your job sounds appalling. Being pregnant is a right not an inconvenience - the sooner companies start to understand that, the sooner they will have happy, motivated and committed women working for them! I would much rather have 2 dedicated, happy, content mothers doing one job both part-time, than an egotistical, chauvanistic, headstamperoner man anyday of the week.

Go back pregnant and proud!! (well, maybe in a few months....)

dal21 · 30/05/2009 18:11

Marmite - I know your circumstances going back are different to when I went back after my maternity leave. I was dreading it. For many reasons. Once I was back though, it was fantastic! The build up in my mind was far worse than the reality. Although my company do sound far nicer than yours. If they havent seen you since 9 months pregnant - they will simply assume you are still carrying weight from your first pregnancy.

I hope it all goes well for you, am sure it will.

We had a fab day in the sunshine. Hope everyone else did.

laurawantsababy · 30/05/2009 18:38

Londonlottie Ace news! A friend of mine has just had twins (she already has a 2yo ds) and says its no different to having one! She feeds them together, changes them together and they nap together so she still gets time on their own. There is loads of support out there if you need it

Marmite You might find going back to work a welcome change and enjoy it. Let us know how you get on {smile]

I saw someone in town today who I havent seen for a few months. She looked at my tummy and said 'any plans for number 2]!!! I am defo showing already - Im sure 4/5 weeks pg is too early though???

London Lottie - congratulations!!! How exciting!

Marmite, I've got comments about my fast expanding tummy. I fixed the person with a scowl and said life's too short to diet... they went bright red and it's not been mentioned again.

ampster · 30/05/2009 20:38

skidoodle replying to your post from ages ago (sorry, been offline!) yes, i dropped two dress sizes through breastfeeding weight loss! i lost about 2 and a half stone off my pre-pregnancy weight initially but then regained the half due to eating everything in sight because i was always so hungry. it all just suddenly poured off me when jimmy was between 3-6 months. so now i am about 10 stone (was 12 before, bit lardy) and size 12/14, which feels great. well, it did until this little one made my stomach bulge out like gangbusters.

i'm still feeding him... not sure when i'm going to stop. am about to start volunteering at homerton hospital as a 'labour support worker' (helping women in labour) and you have to stay until the labour is finished so i reckon that the hours / days apart might force the situation. how is it going for you? have you managed to stop yet, and how did s/he take it?

right, off to read the rest of the thread!

ampster · 30/05/2009 21:04

lessthanideal i'm still breastfeeding and my flow has increased too! i keep leaking from the other boob, like you said. bit annoying as i was loving the way my supply had adjusted perfectly to DS's demand. still, it's better than the agonising pains i had in my boobs the first time i was pregnant!

i haven't told anyone, just can't bear to as i feel stupid for getting pregnant by accident when DS is only 11 months. plus my sister has found she can't conceive due to cysts on her ovaries, while my best friend has been TTC for 18 months and just had an ectopic pregnancy and her fallopian tubes removed. so it feels almost... rude to get pregnant so easily iyswim.

londonlottie congratulations on the twins!
