anybody else having sleep issues ? i am so hot in bed; struggled to get to sleep [been like this for a couple of weeks now] Dozed off eventually just to have dd2 wake up. having dh deal with her didn't help much as here i am it's bloody 3:20 i am so tired and not looking forward to a whole day with dd1 on so little sleep

beanieb · 26/05/2009 05:51

no problem getting to sleep but am up super early most days

sazlocks · 26/05/2009 08:11

morning all and congrats to new BFPs.
also having sleep issues showmethemummy as very hot and waking up early mainly for a wee and then a drink cos I am so thirsty as well.
Also with you on trying to cultivate a calm zen like feeling about being pregnant skidoodle. My first pregnancy was so long awaited and felt much fought for that I felt entirely different than I do this time. Not that this one is any less wanted but its all happened so quickly and without any treatment so its been a nice surprise.
Basically what will be will be. I will be going for an NHS scan at around 10 weeks and then a nuchal between 11 ish and 13 weeks.
I have only told a couple of people so far - mainly cos I am still getting my head round it.

so has anybody actually let themselves think of names yet then lol. i suffered from restless legs in my last pregnancy and i found that a glass of milk whether it was in hotchocolate milkshake or something got rid of it. My symtoms so far are killer sore boobs, really horny lol (think it must be a boy) and sooooo tired all the time

dal21 · 26/05/2009 10:04

Morning all!!

The thread is moving so quickly! Cannot keep up! Well tiredness has properly kicked in. I was in bed soo early...took advantage of DH being home to do DS bath/ bed time. Am also really feeling nausea on and off all day. Grazing on toast etc is the only thing that seems to help.

Saw my GP this morning, so getting things moving. Now the tiredness is there - it all seems so much more real. Well done to those still exercising, I have absoulutely zero energy levels.

Have good days all.

bluespix77 · 26/05/2009 13:43

Hi All

Hope you had good weekends?

After 3 days of there being pink spotting I went to the GP, who in turn sent me for a scan at the local hospital.

Had to have an internal scan as I'm only just 5 weeks, saw sack & yolk, its in the correct place and ovaries looking fine. Too early to tell whether its viable so I'm booked in again a week on Friday.

Doctor not really concerned, he say's everything progressing normally, he's pretty certain its not the beginning of a mc, which is great news.

So, now we just have to wait till next week and keep our fingers crossed theres a heart beat!

We certainly felt alot better having talked to the professionals, as I spent all weekend scouring the internet for explanations! There is nothing like could old fashioned expert advice!

ampster · 26/05/2009 14:46

starshaker, wish i'd known about milk as a cure for restless legs - suffered terribly with it during my last pregnancy.

londonlottie wow zurich! i've just moved back to london from stockholm, where i was working for the last couple of years. had my baby there which was great - the healthcare and parental leave in sweden is second to none. slightly apprehensive about possible prospect of giving birth in uk now! am sure it'll be ok though.

bluespix77 congrats on healthy scan!

Blocka · 26/05/2009 15:16

Fab news bluespiz77, everything crossed for you that the little twinkly heartbeat id there next week!

For some bizarre reason I just bought another pg test - the digital one that tells you how many weeks you are. I feel like I have very few symptoms and in a moment of madness bought a test. Anyway,it has confirmed I am pg and 3+ weeks (which actually means 5+ weeks). I can relax now..

Anyone else still do random testing or is it just me???

ampster · 26/05/2009 15:30

I'm trying to stop myself buying any more. I tell myself it's a waste of money, because it's quite possible to have a missed miscarriage and for a test to still show you're pregnant. The HGC levels in your urine can still be elevated even if the baby's not growing any more. Sorry to be a downer!

TheKurgan · 26/05/2009 16:13

I have felt like doing more tests, but have stopped myself! On the one hand I am really lucky not to have nausea, fatigue, etc. (so far...) but on the other, this doesn't feel real and probably won't until I see a scan!

I'm another one guilty of multiple testing. I'm in double figures now ! I have also started to wear maternity/nursing bra's and maternity clothes to deal with breast tenderness and bloating. It doesn't help that I hadn't really lost any weight since having my son. . I will definitely work harder after baby is born to slim down. I am also going to do the free swimming during my pregnancy. I don't care how hard it is to get the card for it!

I had my maternity prescription exemption card through this morning which is helpful. I am still waiting (rather impatiently) for my 12 week scan appointment. It's really frustrating not knowing when it will be.

MrsMc82 · 26/05/2009 17:00

Me too! Have a tonne of cheapy ebay ones so not cost me much... have been merrily been peeing on sticks since i found out! am quite liking seeing the line get darker and darker as the days go by!

timmette · 26/05/2009 17:33

Hi Kittykat765 I have also bought my first item of maternity clothing although am not wearing it. I got weighed at the docs and she announced it rather loudly in from of dh - am also carrying excess weight but not from ds as I was so ill when pregnant with him I hardly gained anything - this will clearly not happen this time - as I scoffed two kit kats yesterday - just beccause I could .

Blocka · 26/05/2009 17:47

Free swimming kittykat - whats that all about? Very interested!

I too am wondering where my HUGE stomach has come from? I can cope with my big boobs (I love them, in fact), but big belly at 5 weeks? No no no. I am carrying about 10lbs more than I was when I was pg with DD, and to be honest was probably 5-7lbs heavier than I would of liked then. So I am looking at 1.5 stone heavier than I should be. Am at mw tomorrow - no doubt she will tell me off.....

So pleased I am not the only one multiple testing! What would we do without MN? I would think I was going mad without you lot!

beanieb · 26/05/2009 18:14

I think I must be unusual because since the first test I've only done one digital one. I am assuming I am still pregnant until they tell me I am not

Took a look at myself in the mirror earlier and my norks are massive (for me anyway) I also seem unable to suck my stomack in like I usually can!

ampster · 26/05/2009 19:07

if you're all doing it maybe i shall give in to my urges and buy some more tests after all!

my stomach is so massive. it wasn't like this last time. i was really enjoying being (for me) skinny - two dress sizes smaller than i was when i conceived DS thanks to breastfeeding weight loss. and now this!

skidoodle · 26/05/2009 19:40

ampster you dropped two dress sizes through breastfeeding weight loss? Breastfeeding made me so hungry all the time I barely lost any weight at all. I'd just started to cut down and was finally starting to drop weight and return to a more normal shape when I found out I was pregnant again and my tummy suddenly got all giant again

Are you still feeding? I'm down to one feed a day, in the morning, but I'm thinking I'll knock that on the head next week. It can't be helping this tiredness.

LOL at everyone testing all the time

You are all quite mad!

beanieb are you secretly hoping for twins? My sister got pregnant using Clomid first time and she was a little disappointed to find out she was only having the one. She made up for it by doing it all again almost straight away

kittycat we get to go swimming for free? Really?

kittykat765 · 26/05/2009 19:47

Blocka. All pregnant mums get free swimming (apparently). I just googled 'free swims for pregnant women in . It came up with a link to my local council site where it gives info on how to go about it. In my area, you have to apply for a card that costs £3.50 a year (not sure how this makes it free swimming but ok). Then you can go swimming as often as you want during casual swim sessions.

sazlocks · 26/05/2009 20:02

liking the free swimming idea - am going to google that now and see if I can get it in my area.
Anyone else developed a mad sense of smell yet ? I know I am pregnant because just like last time I am retching (TMI) at the smell of fresh washing ! I was putting my DS in clean PJs before and he thought the noises I was making were highly amusing !

Laura233 · 26/05/2009 20:11

sazlocks - my smell has become alot more sensitive, I particularly notice things like perfumes and flowers alot more.

I too will have to look at the free swimming idea, would be very useful as I really need to start exercising... i dread to think what the mw will say.

I did 4 pregnancy tests, the first one I did I didnt see the line come up as it was really faint and then 2 days later as my period hadnt come on did another one, so i did a couple more and was comforting to see the line go darker and darker. I have now accepted i am pregnant and am really looking forward to my first scan, I have booked a private one at 9 weeks as I am a nervous wreck and want some comfort that it is ok, particularly as it I have my wedding party that weekend and no doubt people will be wondering why I am not drinking... so if I am a bit more confident I will be happier to tell family.

I have told some people already, close colleagues and friends... am i the only one that has done this?

Good luck to everyone on a hassle free pregnany!

Laura

showmethemummy · 26/05/2009 21:21

How do people not tell?? My intention not to tell anybody lasted about 5mins. Seriously if my mother and sisters weren't already asleep (since they're in different time zone) by the time i did the test they would've known immediately. So DH and I had agreed not to tell anyone apart from close family... and erm aherm, think have told 1 2 5 others, but that's it!!!

saw the MW today after all; in an hour long appointment, ending in many bloods being taken. i was very tempted to do another test this morning before i went, just in case i got it wrong!! maybe i still should...

dd1 (almost 4) asked 'mummy why did you see the doctor today'. cue vague answer from mummy. seems wrong not to tell, but what if...??
'eres to some decent sleep tonight.

ILoveDolly · 26/05/2009 23:01

yes they are getting too on the ball! my dd (3y4) patted my tummy and said ' have you got a baby in there?'. Did she overhear me talking to MIL...........??! Or as her two best friends have pg mums she's just decided we are all pg! And bizarrely is correct....
I did not actually confirm it to her. They really haven't got the understanding of time to cope with waiting 8 months. I don't think I have really. This blows my mind even more than it did the first time!!!

beanieb · 27/05/2009 08:32

skidoodle - hmmm the twins question! At my age it would be good to get the instant family but I think I would be fine with just one as twins would make things so much harder

A boy and a girl would be nice - he he. I think I am undecided.

Free swimming - I wonder if it's different in Wales. I can't find anything on google
