Well, now I feel left out as I only did 3 tests and I haven't done one for weeks. You bunch of nutters! Leave your pee alone- you're pregnant, get used to it!

show me the mummy- I have told people too, I can't help myself! I always feel like I'm lying if I don't. (obviously ridiculous, I realise!) I agree about not telling your DD yet, wait for the scan then you can show her the piccy!

timmette- thanks for the updated list, I was dreading doing that again!

Anyone else feeling really breathless? Didn't have it last time round but it's driving me round the twist as I look so unfit. I only have to walk up one flight of stairs and I'm panting!!! And I can barely sing, and that IS a crisis!

beanieb · 27/05/2009 08:38

me too singalongamumum I've not done a test since about 15th May

A friend of mine is breathless a lot and has been for a while (She's 20 weeks now) but I've not had it yet.

my first line was very very dark though.

I have told some people too but not work!

singalongamumum · 27/05/2009 09:49

Well done beanie- 12 days without a test!

Yeh, I'd expect breathlessness later on in pregnancy but 8 weeks seems mighty early. On the other hand, I quite like it coz it probably means my LO is getting loads of oxygen from me!

Glad im not the only one that cant keep my mouth shut, even my husband told someone yesterday and he is normally good at keeping things quiet!!

Has anyone flown in pregnancy? I am due to fly Saturday morning to America and am already getting nausea so dreading it whilst flying... I dont normally suffer with travel sickness but have seen that you get more motion sickness whilst pregnant... is this true?

singalongamumum · 27/05/2009 11:04

Well I have started getting travel sick with this pregnancy- can't let DP drive anywhere without feeling very sick. But I haven't been on a plane though- am going on Saturday week though so I'll soon know, but to late to help you, sadly! Have you tried crystallised ginger for the nausea? It sometimes helps me...

Although to be fair, ginger biscuits help a lot more!!!

Hi ladies,

Can I join this thread please?

I'm 31, came off the pill in early April with the intention of actively TTC for DC1 after our wedding in November. Only it looks like fate's got in the way a bit and I got a BFP this morning.

Am over the moon but also in a total daze and have a million questions racing round my brain - not least in terms of what the hell we do about the wedding and my gorgeous dress and the three week honeymoon in Thailand and and and and...

The pregnany calendar on here says I'm due on Jan 21st, so help me please ladies! Where do I go from here?

bluespix77 · 27/05/2009 12:09

Hi VivClicquot, welcome and congratulations on the bfp and the wedding!

You'll certainly have fun trying to work things out over the next few months!

I guess you either postpone the wedding (some friends did that lasy year, as they were expecting) or call your wedding dress shop and see whether they can alter your dress!

beanieb · 27/05/2009 13:12

blimey VivClicquot do you think you will pospone it?

I am getting married at the end of July so won't be too pregnant, hopefully! it has sent me into a bit of a panic about the dress though!

VivClicquot · 27/05/2009 13:34

Have just met DP for lunch and aside from the fact that we just kept giggling nervously, both of us want to go ahead with the wedding. I'm just guessing we may have to re-think Thailand? (Or maybe not? Could I fly at 30 weeks?)

As for the dress - I'm genuinely gutted that I (probably) won't get to wear my gorgeous Ian Stuart! Is that bad?

LessThenIdeal · 27/05/2009 14:14

Hi folks.

7 weeks today and still not getting many symptoms. Had to have a blood test yesterday as my dd may have measles and i've never had it nor have i had my MMR, so they are testing my immunity levels. Should find out the results tomorrow afternoon. If i don't have any immunity, they may give me immuno-heboglobulin - i.e. a bit of a blood transfusion. I'm just hoping that dd doesn't have measles after all. Scary stuff.

I'm still bf dd - is anyone else bf? I've noticed in the last week or so that my supply has really increased - so mych so that whever i'm feeding dd, i'm leaking badly from the unused boob. Tis rather... damp

bluespix77 · 27/05/2009 14:20

No, its not bad that you won't get to wear your dress, you could always sell it on ebay!At the end of the day the wedding is about getting married and the importance of being husband and wife. I did get married in a traditional dress - but for me the point of the day was the commitment we were making to each other (even more important if you're about to become parents!)so would have done it in jeans and a t-shirt if necessary.

I'm not sure what the rules are about flying, I've just had a quick look on google and apparently most airlines will take you up to 35 weeks, so you should be OK. The only thing about Thailand is whether its a malaria zone, I don't think I would want to be in a malaria zone so late on in pregnancy. You should take advice from the Doc on that one.

coffeeicecream · 27/05/2009 14:22

Conratulations vivclicquot, great name as well. Have you thought about having a summer wedding? whatever happens it will be a v romantic wedding. PS Think i am due 21st Jan as well. Having a scan next tues so will let you know.
Anyone heard/had experience with UCH in london?

beanieb · 27/05/2009 14:36

lessthanideal sorry to hear about the measles, hope everything goes ok and that your immunity is high enough to mean you don't need the immuno-heboglobulin.

VivClicquot · 27/05/2009 15:07

Thanks all - especially re. the travel advice. We were planning on going to Chiang Rai for a few days which may be malarial, so will check that out.

And Coffeeicecream, thanks - guess I'm going to have to give up the real Veuve for a little while!

Oh Marmite, I'm so sorry for the loss of your daughter. I hope that you and your family are all bearing up as well as you can be.

My frantic googling this afternoon tells me the areas we're going to on honeymoon are v. low risk for malaria - however, I agree it may be a risk too far, and that I will absolutely bear in mind your experiences. Thank you for being honest.

Pepa · 27/05/2009 18:10

Ok I've not posted for a while and I see there have been lots of new joiners - so hi to all of you.

So I have to give you all a very serious warning about the dangers of pregnancy brain.

I went to my dating scan yesterday, I was very nervous (just because prior to the 12 weeks I always feel like I'm walking on eggshells iykwim). Anyhow, so the day had started out pretty badly the car broke down in the morning so I had to take the bus and walk the additional mile to the clinic after work. I had drank all the water as requested(plus a little extra because in my last pregnancy I was "told off" for not drinking enough by the ultrasound tech ) So as I ran up the hill to the lugging my laptop in the bloody rain I was absolutely DESPERATE to go to the loo!!

I eventually made it to the clinic, and the receptionist took my name and told me to sit down - although finding a seat in the full waiting room was not easy. After 5 minutes of squirming (I really was DESPERATE!) the receptionist called out (in her most patronizing voice) "Mrs Pepa, you've come on the wrong day, your appointment is on Thursday today is Tuesday" Oh how daft did I feel as everyone turned around to look at me shuffle out of the room with my legs crossed.......NOT GOOD

So ladies the lesson for the day is PLEASE PLEASE check your appointments before you go!!!

JamieJay · 27/05/2009 18:28

I think I belong on this bus, I'm now 4+5 having got a BFP on Tuesday. My cycles are a little unreliable but my EDD appears to be 29/01.

Feeling pretty okay except for peeing for Wales and my nipples feeling like they've been sand-blasted

I've got an appointment with my GP tomorrow so I can 'register' with the midewives and have just booked a private scan for 7+5, no real reason other than being impatient!

Pepa That sounds like the type of thing I'd do before pregnancy!! Good luck for Thursday though, hopefully your next trip won't have such a stressful lead up!

Off know you catch up on all the other travellers

dal21 · 27/05/2009 18:32

Vivcliquot - welcome! And wow! Pregnancy, wedding and honeymoon - I feel almost lazy just being pregnant.

Re. the flying towards the end of pregnancy - if you get a doctors note clearing you to fly (you'll need one for travel insurance purposes), then you'll be fine. Ref the malaria risk - think thats a really personal call.

Laura233 - I flew last week to corfu and back when was 5/6 weeks and was absolutely fine. I have only just started to feel the nausea though and some preggie pop sweets arrived today. Am going to give them a try and see if they can help with the nausea.

I havent told anyone still. Am I the odd one out? Only mum and DH know; but I have the viability scan on Monday and after that I may tell my immediate boss/ colleagues. I think some of the people who sit by me were suspicious today - I easily ate the amount I would normally eat in 3 days!

Pepa - thanking you kindly for your advice. LOL. Hope there was a loo on your way out.

My bed is already beckoning. Is anyone else ridiculously tired by 5/6pm?

dal21 · 27/05/2009 18:35

X Posts JamieJay - welcome also!

beanieb · 27/05/2009 19:38

Hi JamieJay, what part of Wales are you peeing for

I am in Cardiff.

I have a dilemma. We are having an early viability scan next Thursday because I was taking clomid. On the Friday my OH is going away on his stag do (only to Bristol) and all being well with the scan he says he wants to tell his two brothers and best mates about the baby. This is fine by me but I know this means that they will tell their girlfriends and wives and so by doing this we will be pretty much telling everyone we know as all his friends are such a tight knit group. I will be just under 8 weeks.

I don't thin I can ban him from telling them because even if he promises to I recon after a few drinks he'll just blurt it out anyway. I suppose then that I should just go ahead and tell people, a couple of my friends already know anyway.

Should I tell work people though? Or maybe just the woman I work most closely with...? Is it silly to tell people at 8 weeks...
