Great to have some new people on board.

I too am waking early every morning, am also very hot in bed.

Can I ask if anybody is experiencing any bleeding? Over the last couple of days I have had a small amount of pink blood when I wipe after going to the loo. Would be good to know if anyone else has experienced this, I am really worried.

ampster · 24/05/2009 19:34

thanks londonlottie and beanieb, good to know how you're getting those scans. i suppose the thing is that i've had scans early because i had two miscarriages, and then during my last pregnancy i was so paranoid that i'd had another missed miscarriage that i demanded and rec'd a scan at about 9 weeks.

so somewhere in my head i'm expecting a scan to happen early, but of course that's not the case unless something awful happens!

bluespix77 i'm waking up early too, glad it's not just me. but the blood though, i haven't had that. sounds a bit worrying but i'm no expert. when i miscarried it was very bright red blood, like a period, and quite heavy and sudden.

Hi Everyone! Wow - only been away a week and heaps of new joiners! Congrats everyone on your BFP's!

Singalongamumum - thanks for the mammoth list with EDD's. It seems to keep growing!

Well we are back from a week relaxing in Corfu - totally lucked out on the weather, it was so warm. Glad to be home though.

I had a little wobble out there since symptoms seemed to ease off. But after a few days, the appetite/ nausea kicked in. I go the the GP's this Tues and have a scan booked in week Monday when am at 7 weeks. So fingers crossed we see something. With DS we were able to see the heartbeat by then!

Hope everyone is having a lovely long weekend. Once again, welcome to all the newcomers.

beanieb · 24/05/2009 20:41

bluespix77 I have read that bleeding in the first trimester is quite common and so long as it's not bright red you shouldn't panic, but if you feel worried by it or it gets worse (As in it starts to become flowing blood) then I think you should call the doctor.

tomsmom2003 · 24/05/2009 21:18

Hello all - have finally found my way here!! Found out 13 May - wedding anniversary - so that was a present and half for DH!!Think I'm fifth or sixth due on Jan 15 ?

Two DS (5 and 2) already so this is no3 - crikey, did we really mean to do that... happened a LOT quicker than first two times as only second month of trying - typical as trying to get promoted at work and not something you want them to be guessing at!

Feeling worse than last times, esp nausea, although DH down with tummy bug all weekend so he's been throwing up for me! Also suddenly hitting tiredness so won't be on long

Boobs already up a size, and DS2 handy with his elbows so that's fun...but still very excited and also about doing it at a different time of year as both DS are August babies.

Will shut up and now and look forward to getting to know you all! Happy Monday!

Blocka · 25/05/2009 08:03

Hello everyone! Well, I ended up telling all my friends at the wedding I was at on Friday. I started off with a grand plan that I would fake drinking and keep it to myself - but my friends smelled a rat the instant I didn't head for the free wine and bought a ''gin and tonic'' instead (i.e. tonic with ice and lemon!). I denied all charges, but then, another friend announced she was 7 weeks pg with her first!!! I was so shocked I fessed up - what a lovely celebration!

bluespix77 how is the bleeding developing (hopefully not at all). If it was just a couple of spots I would ignore it, but if it continues, I would go and see your GP, just in case.

Well, I am now 5+2 and no nausea but my boobs are MASSIVE and sore. I am thirsty all the time, and constipated too (TMI). Oh, the joys!

Enjoy the sunshine girlies, and don't forget the SPF!

valbona · 25/05/2009 08:22

thanks marmitemonster - good tip re mosquito stuff, there's a handful of the beggars about. will hunt down some non-toxic stuff. have been told rubbing body with vodka helps (??).

blocka, well fessed, I have a wedding to go when I'll be about 10 weeks in - with lots of people I worked with abroad in younger, boozier days. I think I'll have to fess up then too ...

A friend of mine told me something totally crazy last night. Her friend had about 4 early scans, starting at just over 4 weeks. The reason? She kept calling the hospiptal and telling them she was bleeding (when she wasn't) because she just wanted to know the baby was still there! Trouble was, because they were scanning dso early they couldn't detect a heartbeat the first two times so it worried her even more!

I have no symptoms really but my OH says my Norks are massive! I can't really see the difference to be honest

Blocka it must be lovely to have a friend almost at the same point of pregnancy

ampster · 25/05/2009 09:02

haha beanieb i can almost imagine doing that myself! luckily i have an aversion to lying / wasting NHS time but still. i wish i had my own ultrasound machine - i'd be on that thing all day every day!

AmyLou32 · 25/05/2009 09:19

Hi All, hope you are having a restful Bank Holiday, whilst you are on the subject I was wondering if I could ask a few questions, as this is my 1st? When I first found out I was pregnant i did feel really different, Bloating, increased chest size, quite a bit of cramping This weekend not quite the same, it's all stopped, I've gone back to a flatter stomach, trousers and bra fitting much better again, no cramping and nausea anymore, but no bleeding as such! As you've all been saying 12 weeks is along time to wait to find out if a pregnancy is viable and I am only 7 weeks yesterday, and would really like to move on whatever the outcome, has anyone had any thing like this before and any ideas what to do?

AmyLou32 · 25/05/2009 09:33

also I meant to ask, does a mmc mean that you don't actually get any bleeding but the foetus has stopped growing. So you would have to have a medical procedure to remove?

bluespix77 · 25/05/2009 10:38

anniemac I too have been thinking about going for an early scan. We live close to a really lovely private scanning clinic which charges £120. I am so worried as I've had a little bit of pink spotting, but no other real symptoms such as enlarged/sore boobs or feeling sick, don't think I can wait another 6 weeks for the NHS!

I've seen no piink spotting for about 12 hours now, so I'm going to see how today goes and if necessary book an apt with the doc tomorrow.

Hi Everyone,
Ampster I am having early scans because of the miscarriage last time and also because you get scanned at every appointment here - not in the UK .
Try not to worry about the lack of symptoms my sis in law had none - nothing other than a large large very large bump .
Bluespix77 - I have had a bit of bleeding last week and it was according to they gynae something to do with too much sex
. But if it is worrying you maybe you can call and epu and get it checked.

beanieb · 25/05/2009 11:51

Am interested in teh too much sex thing

Is that really true?

My friend said she bled so heavily the first time she and her OH had sex after finding out that they were pregnant that she thought she was losing the baby but I thought that was an exception rather than the rule. Everything I have read suggests that sex is not a risk but it surprises me that it might be common to bleed after sex in the early stages of pregnancy. Anyone know why this is?

dal21 · 25/05/2009 11:52

Amylou - my understanding is that most NHS regions offer a scan around the 12 week mark - obviously, they will scan sooner if there is a reason to. Otherwise, now that you are 7 weeks, you can go for a viability scan (they advise min 7 weeks as they want to be able to spot a heartbeat). I (aswell as some of the others on here) am going for that scan privately. Since the 12 week scan is an age away!

Cant answer your other questions I am afraid. HTH.

AmyLou32 · 25/05/2009 11:57

Thanks dal21 I guess having not been through this before, and with very few symptoms it's difficult to comprehend,I am acutally pregnant and I can't speak to anyone else about it, because we have taken the decision not to tell until 12weeks, also find the the NHS and my GP are not particulary helpful and no advice offered to 1st timers!

timmette · 25/05/2009 13:18

BeanieB - it wasn't heavy bleeding more like spotting and yes it was too much sex - I think the technical term he used was cervial erosion (sp)?. But nothing to worry about. Didn't have it with ds.
Have just seem my gynae so am now due 5 th Jan but they will prob deliver the week before - there was a heartbeat it was great to hear it. Much more relaxed now.
Amylou32 I also felt very lacking in any info when I was pregnant with ds - and didn't see the midwife until 12 weeks and by then had given up and gone for a private scan. You can always ask on here I know we are not GP's but I am happy to help if there is anything I know.

No worries AmyLou - I remember being exactly where you were. Where I lived before, the GP/ NHS didnt want to know before 12 weeks and mumsnet was a godsend! And we too told no one before 12 weeks, so I totally understand.

The early weeks can be so nerve wracking - it hasnt gone away for me even on the second time round.

All I can advise is to ask away on here. And if you havent already - perhaps invest in a pregnancy book (I read what to expect when you are expecting) - and it helped me to understand more what was going on with my body.

All I would say is that everybody's pregnancy symptoms are different. With DS, I had tiredness, incredibly sore boobs and chip pan hair. But no bloating etc and didnt even start to show until 16 weeks. With this pregnancy, my jeans are already getting tight but boobs have not grown at all (which I read can be common with subsequent pregnancies), so in comparison to the pregnancy with DS, I feel very different.
The best you can do is relax (as best you can); eat well and drink plenty of water. And if you can jusitify it, go for an early scan.
