Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

There were no Serens when I was growing up either, but mum knows a few now, along with other 'natural' (iyswim) names like Enfys and Haf (for the non-Welsh speakers, Seren means Star, Enfys is Rainbow and Haf is Summer). I really love Nia too, but DH's cousin's DD is called Nia and her mum's name is the same as mine so it would be a bit odd! We don't see them all that often, but even so it puts me off a bit. Angharad is my other favourite, but DH is worried about the spelling and pronunciation.

Fingers crossed llaregub that it is only the constipation. I say only, of course I know how miserable it is but perhaps slightly better than a bug. Maybe?!

flippineck · 27/04/2009 10:34

Thanks for the bump comments, btw. The photos have made me remember how dreadful nursing bras are for shape! I'm already in the biggest bras I ever owned after having DD, goodness knows what'll happen when my milk comes in. The lovely Anita underwired ones don't go big enough .

frazzledoldbag · 27/04/2009 10:43

Morning ladies. At home with DD2 and her chicken pox. Much better today (scabby now - ugh) but at least she's not unwell anymore.
Was expecting to find at least one more new baby announcement when I logged on - come on, hurry up babies!
Have just ordered myself a top off Isabella Oliver this morn (a bit silly at 37 wks I guess) but I seriously don't fit into anything any more and so fed up of constantly pulling things down to cover a flash of white bump (gross).
Anyway its a strappy cami top thing so will be fine for layering and possibly sleeping in so should get my moneysworth.
Sorry everyone is feeling a bit sore, tired, etc This stage is so tiresome isn't it?
Will catch up later, hope everyone has a good day. Grey, cold and wet here too so DD and I are making ice cream out of playdoh to cheer ourselves up. x

Belgianchocolates · 27/04/2009 10:45

morning everyone

The dcs were up at 6am today. That's v. early for them. I woke up from ds moving the kitchen table to start setting the table for breakfast. Very nice of him, but far to early! Ds said the cat woke him up, but I'm sure when I shut his door last night I didn't see her, so I don't know how that happened. It was all a bit of a mystery this morning really, because all doors and windows were shut, yet we woke up to feathers all over ds's bedroom floor. I have no idea how that happened. If only cats could talk.

llare Gosh I can't believe your induction is tomorrow. It's going so fast. I hope your dh gets better soon, but do inform the hospital in the morning. I think they'll want him to be free of any sickness for 24h before they'll let him on the ward.

Momino Poor you. We've got one of those houses that's constantly springing leaks too. Last week they finally fixed the living room leak (I've had a container under the leak for literally years!) and lo and behold, it's raining and I can't hear or see any dripping. Hurray! Try and not let it stress you out too much (easier said than done, I know), because you want to go into labour feeling all relaxed

flippineck If you're all alone you're allowed to have a day in your PJ's eating biscuits and watching rubbish day time TV .

fi has your ds woken up yet? I remember my dcs doing that occasionally when they were little, it's a bit scary when they sleep for so long, but on the other hand, they wouldn't do it if they didn't need all that sleep.

frazzledoldbag · 27/04/2009 10:45

oh and meant to say I've never heard of Seren before (am not welsh either) but I love it! It is a beautiful name. I reckon go for it, it's very pretty and I like the meaning too.
My DH is now set on Hector (Tor) for this LO but I'm not 100% ..... still hankering after Felix. Just watch, it'll end up being something totally different!

SpangleMaker · 27/04/2009 10:51

flippineck I've just eaten 3 jaffa cakes and am still in pj's too

Momino rant away, it's stressful enough having work done anyway without being due a baby at the same time, and that's without all the hormones flying around.

I thought newborns were supposed to sleep 16 hours a day? Harvey seems to be making up for being extra sleepy in his first two weeks by continual wriggling & chuntering in between 2.5hourly feeds day & night. Last night I fell asleep on the sofa for an hour or so, fed him 11pm, got to bed 12am, was up 1am-2am then 4am-6am, then he woke again at 7am . Ashamed to say I slept through him grizzling for 45min before summoning the energy to get up & feed him again.

Sorry, you were all looking forward to having your babies, weren't you?

Belgianchocolates · 27/04/2009 10:52

Flippineck lovely bump and where's that weather gone from when you were posing for your pics...

frazzled nice to hear that your dd is feeling better. Has your other dd had them before? Otherwise you might have to brace yourself for another ill dc. of your IO top you've bought. I love IO, but it's just a bit expensive for me. I'd love to get some more clothes, but as I'll be 39 weeks on wed, it would be even more silly to buy mat clothes now.

SpangleMaker · 27/04/2009 10:54

llareggub can't believe it's your induction tomorrow! Time's gone so quickly. Good luck, if I don't manage to get on later.

llareggub · 27/04/2009 10:56

spangle my DS had no problems sleeping...during the day! He would happily doze all day through baby groups, baby massage etc but then party all night. I don't think I slept at night time for months! Why am I doing it again?

Belgian DH hasn't actually been sick, and we definitely will tell the ward if he is. I really wouldn't want to be responsible for spreading a horrid bug on labour ward!

I bought a few IO things and found them to be very generously sized. My leggings still don't fit well and the wrap dress would easily accommodate another me!

Belgianchocolates · 27/04/2009 10:56

spangle Your baby H sounds just like my ds did at that age. He fed every 2h or so day and night, I ended up co-sleeping just to cope with the broken nights. Funnily enough he still eats every 2h, but not during the night obviously, and now he's 7!

sausage a bit at your mum saying not to interfere. As if at this stage it's goin to make that much difference. I think I'd give birth while she's on her hols just to annoy her, if my mum booked a holiday around the time I was due

Tummum · 27/04/2009 10:56

Llare wanted to send some (((hugs))) your way for today. It's easy to say have a lovely relaxed day, but do try to do something for yourself. It's all so exciting and flipping scary at the same time, I can't believe your induction is tomorrow !

Flippin I LOVE the name Seren. I am English but DH is very welsh (as you can tell from DC names when we live in deepest England). I think Seren works well in both countries.

Monimo big hugs for you too. I second Belgian's suggestion of crap telly and chill out time, if you can.

My MW called just now and said my bloods are back and negative for PE - hooray ! I am seeing her tomorrow for another BP check and might be booked in for a growth scan, although I might just not bother with that given I had a 9lb10 baby last time with only a little graze, and I am certain this LO is smaller than that. I don't want anything to stop my HB. Oh, and eeek my due date is this week

Belgianchocolates · 27/04/2009 10:58

llare then I keep my fingers crossed your dh isn't going to get sick either. Hopefully if he rests today, he'll be OK tomorrow

Tummum · 27/04/2009 11:01

Oh, and Sausage LOL at your mum not serving you pineapple ! If only it was that simple to get things going

Belgianchocolates · 27/04/2009 11:02

Tummum when I had my growth scan the week before last and lo measured well above the 90th centile the dr wrote not for h/b on my notes. The cmws (2 of them) then promptly wondered why the dr made a problem of the size and said that they didn't think it was a problem at all and that they didn't think that my lo will be as big as the scan says. So hopefully your cmws are equally relaxed about bigger babies!

Momino · 27/04/2009 11:04

Spangle, good to hear how you're getting on with Harvey, the sleeplessness will pass (eventually ). thinking about you with Harvey makes me happy and excited to meet my baby no.3.

belgian, and at the cat story. glad to hear your leak is staying put. i'm a bit better after this morning. i started off the day wrong anyway, stubbing my toes very badly trying to get the tel at 7.15am (was DH arriving at work). should have known it was going to be One of Those Days. the hormones and quiet house are not helping.

Tummum · 27/04/2009 11:06

Belgiancs I am a bit worried that the cmw will make a big deal of the size. She is lovely but very newly qualified, and so is doing everything by the book at the moment (at the last appt she was on the phone 3 times to her supervisor to ask her advice about what to do with me ). The cmw who looked after me up to now was very experienced and more laid back about things. I have had 2 'large' babies with absolutely no probs so will use that as my main argument... That and I will just stay at home

Momino · 27/04/2009 11:09

tummum, great news about your neg results for PE! sorry, not sure what to do about your mobile but that's great timing, isn't it?

sausage, i agree with Belgian that you should 'arrange' to have the baby when your mum is on holiday . hehe.

runningmonkey · 27/04/2009 11:29

Hi All,
Just back from our weekend away and I am knackered but had a lovely time. Especially enjoyed lots of snuggles with a friends ds which made me realise how soon I will have one of my own to cuddle.

llare in case I don't get back on until tomorrow, hope induction goes well.

flippin I think Seren is a gorgeous name and it is on my list, as is Haf (which I would have had like a shot if it went with our surname). I believe both have become more common in the last few years - there are one or two in a big primary school where a friend works. If ours does indeed turn out to be a girl (am not believing either way now) we're probably going with a Welsh spelling of a well known name to save confusion - Alys. Middle name is probably going to be either Olwen or Tesni (which means warmth from the sun) which I love altho I worry sounds a bit too much like 'Chesney' to have as a first name. Other names we considered which are easy for non-welshies are Anwen, Carys and Elin.

Sorry to hear people are having grumpy DH issues.

I wonder how choc's hen night was, when are we having the virtual one?

pulapula · 27/04/2009 11:29

Frazzled- i prefer Felix to Hector, so keep working on your DH .

I am home with the DCs and none of us are dressed - although DD has taken off her PJs and is in dressing up clothes at least...

Momino - not surprised you are fed up. What with nothing happening after your show, and then the leaky shower. If its not one thing, its another.

frazzledoldbag · 27/04/2009 11:30

hee hee just found this useful accessory online.
made me chuckle anyway.......
www.breastfeedingheaven.co.uk/moboleez/prod_115.html
Bet you all want one now don't you?

Belgianchocolates · 27/04/2009 11:32

Tummum Having had previous big babies without any problems sounds like a good arguement to me . But it doesn't work with everyone. If they would find big babies a problem, then I'm sure they would have mentioned something by now because of your history of having big babies.

momino happy you're feeling a bit better.

sausagenmash · 27/04/2009 11:34

I wish I could 'arrange' to have the baby whilst Mum and Dad are away - nyah hah haaaaah!! Great news about non PE-ness, Tummum - you must be v chuffed!

pulapula · 27/04/2009 11:34

frazzled- i can't believe 1) that someone designs such a thing 2) someone decides its a good thing to manufacture and 3) people buy it! it really made me LOL

Belgianchocolates · 27/04/2009 11:35

frazzled at the bf hat thingy. It's only a touch better than that American bib thing. I suppose it'll keep the sun out of baby's eyes...

runningmonkey · 27/04/2009 11:37

omg those hats are hilarious! Almost choked on my coffee!
