Evening everyone. Gosh there's been quite a bit of chat going on this afternoon. I'd like a mojito too but I think I might have missed the coctail part .

Have had a lovely relaxing day today. Sat outside in the sun. My mum gets really excited when I let her clean my house, so I left her to it. In my non-pregnant state I don't let her, because I think she should take her trips to us as a little holiday. But now she's come to help. She's cleaned both fridges, the oven, and washed the whole kitchen. I don't think it's been this clean since it was new

Belgianchocolates · 26/04/2009 21:31

I meant coctail party

Sorry to hear about all those difficulties with dhs. I suppose they are getting stressed out about the impending changes in their life too and what they want and we want to get ready for the birth doesn't tend to correspond half the time. What you really want to have some peace and quiet is a dh that works away from home like mine

I've ordered my lovely bumpy pictures now. I ordered a 10 picture DC-rom because then I can do with it what I like.

Baby's having a good wriggle at the mo. I wished s/he was his/her way out though. DH just phoned and wished me a peaceful night, but I told him to wish me a broken busy night instead

Tummum · 26/04/2009 21:53

Evening all.

Belgianc my DH is off tomorrow and back on Friday so am really looking fwd to having the bed to myself and no quibbles about what to have for tea / watch on TV / what time to go to bed. Very impressed with your Mum cleaning too... perhaps I ought to drop some hints to mine tomorrow !

FiK can't believe you have got all of that work done already ! You are doing really well. I still haven't painted the skirting boards in my lounge from when we had the oak floors done... 3 years ago or repainting the door surrounds from when we had the doors turned around... 4 years ago - double

Monimo you there? Anything happening??!

Jennster forgot to say thanks for your company the other night. It was really nice to find someone else up at some unearthly hour.

Momino · 26/04/2009 22:02

still here, tummum. just experiencing what llare, febes and others have: BH and period pains. baby is also moving around quite a lot. I thought before birth, they slow down a bit (that right?) so tending to think it's not going to happen till at least end of week. but we'll see.

exciting: my lovely DH has just scrubbed the Phil & Teds so it looks nearly new and has it set up for the new baby in it's cocoon! bless him. he's had to put up with irritable me and still has done so much today.

everyone have a good weekend? i hope so!

Momino · 26/04/2009 22:11

well, off to bed though not especially tired (don't know why not ).

hope all are well and will check in with you tomorrow between plumbers and kitchen repairs.

Jennster · 26/04/2009 22:14

1stmrsf Can I recommend Waitrose Bottom butter for your Ocado shop? It's a fab non-petrochemical alternative to vaseline. There are some people on here who rave about it and put it on their face! I've used it on my very very dry hands.

Tummum You're welcome!

Jennster · 26/04/2009 22:15

Gahhh the bloody plumbers.

detsy · 26/04/2009 22:18

HAllo - v quick one from me as off to bed now. Am also getting the periody pains but then they go away. Guess we're all getting ready

DD getting some bottom molars and really struggling - high temp, headache, earache etc (assume so anyway as shes rubbing and pulling at these things!)

Put the freshly laundered moses basket together this eve - can't believe there will be a new sproglet in there very soon.

llareggub · 26/04/2009 22:29

Oooh, I second the Waitrose bottom butter. Available in John Lewis too, and a bargain at £2.47. I have indeed used it on my face...

Blottedcopybook · 26/04/2009 22:42

flippineck I just posted the recipe for the cherry bakewell cake on my blog, it's extremely easy and really tasty! I'll be posting the jaffa cake loaf recipe tomorrow too. I only have a few more posts to do to get my 100 posts so I'm trying to pad it out a little ;)

pulapula · 27/04/2009 08:04

Morning all,

Well I slept through last night but apparently DH, DD and DS didn't. DD needed a wee and DH is convinced that DS was disturbed by my mega-snoring . It is really bad at the moment as i've disturbed myself with it so feel a bit bad now...

Although at least it means the kids are both still fast asleep now as they must be tired

FiKelly · 27/04/2009 08:33

I've got waitrose bottom butter in the cupboard too and their baby massage one is divine too.but be warned they smell good enough to eat!

tummum the work in our flat has been so quick as we're really lucky to know a couple of fantastic tradesmen we've used in the past. they don't mess around and just get on with it.. they also know good electrician and organised for him to do the new pendant lights we'd need etc. they knew who had done the coving in our flat when the building was converted, they still had the mould for it and organised for them to come out to quote for the extra lengths we'd need. the only thing I've had to source is the flooring! definitely a case of who you know in this case.. just looking forward to having the flat back to normal now.

ds is freaking me out a bit this am. he was v v v tired yesterday so fed and bathed him early and he was asleep by 5.40pm.. he's still asleep now! on the other hand I've been awake on and off since 5am. I can hear him breathing through the monitor (turned it up to check) so I'm hiding in the bedroom with MN on my phone. torn between not wanting to disturb him and checking on him!

pulapula · 27/04/2009 08:36

Fikelly make the most of it! If you know he's breathing, I'm sure he's OK. The latest my DD ever slept in was 10.30am and i'm sure when she was at that dropping daytime naps stage we'd put her to bed before 6 and she'd have a "catch-up" sleep. Although sometimes sleeping in is a sign that they are coming down with something so hope he's not poorly.

Mine are both still snoring away too, so not sure we'll make it to playgroup for 10am but might take them to soft play in the afternoon instead.

llareggub · 27/04/2009 08:42

Morning!

Just off to run DS to nursery. I slept really badly last night, and woke DS up because I shouted out loud due to a bad dream! I was then woken up by terrible tummy pains, which DH seemed completely unsympathetic about. I told him he'd better get his act together before induction tomorrow or else!

I'm very nervous now, particularly because DS was vomiting on Saturday and now DH feels sick too. I'm really worried he'll be sick tomorrow and it would be really irresponsible of us to go to the hospital with a bug when they are already norovirus infected, wouldn't it? I have visions of my MIL being there with me....EEK!

Better go....

pulapula · 27/04/2009 09:08

llareggub- oh dear, poor you - fingers crossed that your DH (and you) don't come down with the bug. I guess you would just have to inform the hospital and see what they advise.

Better go now, DD and DS are finally awake!

flippineck · 27/04/2009 09:16

Morning all! I've got another quiet day today, DD is at the child minder's all day and I've only got a bit of pottering to do really.

Llaregub - fingers crossed your DH isn't ill!

Fi - hope you're enjoying your lie in!

Pula - I've woken myself up byt snoring recently too! . I seem to have had a cold permanently for the last 6 weeks. I dont think it's really a cold, just pregnancy related snot, but it's driving me mad.

Anyone in Wales, can you answer a name question for me, please (I'm too scared to start a thread on baby names!). I am Welsh, DH isn't, and we live in England but may go back to Wales at some point in the future. DD has a Welsh name (one that isn't too difficult to spell or say for DH's family!), and we'd like this LO to have a Welsh name too. DH really likes Seren but I'm not convinced - how popular is it in Wales at the moment? My mum reckons it's quite widely used where she lives but was just wondering about other areas.

We're possibly going to go to John Lewis next weekend so I'll look for the bottom butter - I've heard loads of good stuff about it. Am I mad though to go to Bluewater at 39+ weeks?! My reasoning was that DH could do his shopping (he really needs new work clothes) and take DD with him and I'll just sit in JL cafe.

FiKelly · 27/04/2009 09:27

llareggub will keep fingers crossed you don't end up with mil as your birthing partner.. unless absolutely necessary!

flippin I like your way of shopping

I should be enjoying my lie in but gave up trying to sleep at 7.30am and as our kitchen is next to where ds is currently sleeping I've avoided leaving our bedroom. luckily we have an en suite and I didn't wake up starving today. all I have in the bedroom are the stem ginger and oat flake cookies in my labour bag.. baby and I have enjoyed having them for breakfast!

Momino · 27/04/2009 09:39

llareggub, are your tummy pains better? you've not got what your DS had? See how you all are this afternoon and hope you all feel better. I agree with you on the EEK of visions of MIL being there (nooooo!).

[rant alert - you're beginning to expect that from me] as for us, our house probs just keep getting worse. Kitchen still a plumbing problem along with already-damaged units which are only 2-3 weeks old. fitter can't come until 6.30 tonight now. i think that's rubbish. worse, i've showered this morning and went tdown tothe kitchen to find water leaking through the ceiling. it's a prob we thought was fixed and now am worried it's a deeper problem (ie removing old shower through kitchen ceiling costing £1000). plumber for that coming wed. my sis is coming wed as well so now we don't have a shower until god knows when. oh, and we have a baby due this week.

i feel really depressed with all of this, with expecting baby to come and baby not coming, with being all alone (DDs still at inlaws). and it's raining here as well.

so, so sorry to bring anyone down and promise i'll post a non selfish happy post soon.

flippineck · 27/04/2009 09:47

momino - rant away. That sounds terrible, I wish a had a solution for you but sadly I don't. Hope the fitter can get stuff done this evening.

I've finally posted some bump pics on my profile.

Momino · 27/04/2009 09:50

flippi, you look lovely in your bump! made me smile.

ladyhelenatealltheeggs · 27/04/2009 09:58

momimo rant away. Its pretty miserable this stage of pg what with the discomfort and the unpredictability of when the LOs will arrive. Grr about your plumbing.

llare not long now......

Am joining the not sleeping, constant period pains, CONSTANT braxton hicks , loud snoring, snotty nose club. And last night I also had lower back pain for most of the night so that I convinced myself that this was the start of something. Ha ha.

Still on the upside, I think I may pop into John Lewis this afternoon to buy my changing bag. Have been building up to this purchase as its quite pricey but hell, what with the HIP grant and what we are about to go through, a bit of bag therapy is what I need!!

Am also going to try to put up bump pic - together with a comparison of my pg friend who is 29 weeks with twins. 1stMrsF I showed her your pic. She thought you looked great, but she was a tad alarmed at the growth between 28 and 34 weeks which is where she is at now.

flippineck · 27/04/2009 10:10

As I'm sat here home alone today, do I really need to get dressed?! Have been drinking tea and eating bisuits (already ), and technically I don't need to go out of the house until 4.30 - it's cold, grey and raining out there!

Momino · 27/04/2009 10:17

ladyhelen, you must get that bag! also, I've given up on the convincing, baby will come when ready (ie, when it's most inconvenient .

flippi, i'll join you in the alone-at-home club. raining here too so perfect excuse to sit in to do nothing. i wouldn't get dressed if I were you, just be comfortable.

Now, where do we keep our biscuits ?

llareggub · 27/04/2009 10:20

FlipineckNo, no need to get dressed. Especially when pregnant! I'm from Wales but no longer live there. TBH it isn't a name I've heard inside Wales at all, but it is one I've come across here in England. I'm from south Wales if that helps. There certainly weren't any at my school! My niece is called Nia, which is another Welsh name that is easy for English tongues.

Momino rant away, you sound like you have just cause!

I don't think I've got what DS had. My tummy pains are related to constipation I think, I've had it frequently in this pregnancy and I feel fine.

Have fun shopping ladyhelen and flippineck (why can't I spell your name today?!)

sausagenmash · 27/04/2009 10:31

Flip - you look so lovely and smiley with your bump! I just look like a miserable old cow! Going to try and do some clever things with piccies today, but don't bank on it... also, Flip - I loooove Bluewater! (except last time we went there we had a car crash leaving the car park, you know, that horrid roundabout) I think planning on perching in 'The Place to Eat' (or whatever its called these days) is a fine idea!

Bbbrr. Where's our summer gone?

Dp being nice again today before he left for work. I even got a cup of tea in bed! He's also turned the bin round, so I think he's a bit (actually, a lot) embarrassed. Silly arse. (btw, before anyone thinks he's THAT bad, I was being really shouty as well, and, looking back on the argument, he was probably right. Hmf

Told my Mum at the weekend when we were at hers about raspberry leaf tea stuff and that I'm going to get some (but not to take just yet), and she had a major strop on, saying I shouldn't 'interfere with things' - we had some fresh pineapple for dessert, and she wouldn't even give me any!! I think she's just narked - have been telling her about all the babies being born (plus a couple of friends in RL who have had their babies a few weeks early) - her and Dad go away on holiday on Friday for 10 days, and I think she's worried she's going to 'miss it all'. Duh. They only booked their holiday a couple of weeks ago, and she knows how far gone I am! Silly.

Spose I'd better get up properly and shower... how you doing, Llare? (that wasn't said in a Joey a la Friends style, btw)
