OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Belgianchocolates · 26/04/2009 11:34

Morning everyone,

It's a lovely day here in the midlands. The dcs have actually volunteered to go and play outside, which is very unusual for them. But of course I'm v. happy about it. It's so much better for them than hanging around indoors.

Blotted I do hope for you you lo isn't breech, it's scary isn't it. But they can turn around again, look at me it went breech at 36 weeks, then transverse and finally head down last weekend and has been there ever since, phew.
I'm trying the keeping the door to the nest technique for my broody hen at the moment, like you suggested. I plucked her of her nest and funnily enough she spent about 15mins sitting on the grass next to the henhouse in exactly the same position. I was really worried about her yesterday, as I hadn't seen her of her nest at all. I don't think she ate at all yesterday. Now she's finally walking around and she's been eating and drinking like she's starving. What a relief. She keeps going back to the henhouse to check on the nest though, but no success, because she can't get in

llare sounds like one of these days soon something will happen for you.

Gert2a I can totally understand what you mean with feeling as if it's going to happen to someone else. In a away I've got that with the impending birth for my own lo.

braxton Hicks Not feeling braxton hicks doesn't mean you'll go over. I never had any B/H with eihter of my other 2 and had ds at 39 weeks and dd just over 40. This time around I've had a few, but I think it's because I now recognise them. Thinking back I must have had them, but not realised because they were never painful, IYKWIM.

Hi YP I'm equally in awe with you being able to get off an airbed with SPD this far in your pregnancy. I've got SPD and crutches. Also that baby engaging has made it better for you. In my case it has got worse with this big head in my pelvis.

I've been sleeping really well recently, I think it's because DH is away and I keep waking up being v. annoyed that I've had a good sleep, because I want to wake in the middle of the night with contractions or waters braking

Belgianchocolates · 26/04/2009 11:37

Wow 1stMrsF what a bump. I'm amazed you're not toppling over forwards

FiKelly · 26/04/2009 11:42

1stMrsF WOW! your bump is amazing have you got to wear a support belt to help carry the twins weight? I love the twins scan pics too.

Blottedcopybook · 26/04/2009 11:46

Belgian I was actually thinking about you when I was flapping this morning! I figure that since her sister and brothers have stretched out her current home fairly well she should have enough space to turn by herself but I'm still on all fours right now! Glad your broody is coming out of it, if she's eating, drinking and walking around that's a good sign

rosielady · 26/04/2009 12:22

1stMrsF - that bump is incredible! I am very impressed - I don't think I could get out of a chair if it was me - It is all bump though which is good.

yesterday DS was round at a friends for half the day playing so DH was to crack on with painting our bedroom. I toddled off to the allotment to do a bit of hoeing and planting, and came back 2 hrs later and not a bit of painting done! We have an artex ceiling - yuk - and he started to paint over it but it began peeling away - it was actually paper - so he had to scrape it all off - it's made such a mess and he is now filling in the cracks and holes - it will look so much better but taking much longer!

then DS went to stay at Aunties last night as DH and I had a 40th party to go to - actually went and got my nails done - very unusual for me - but loved the pampering and have booked a hydrotherm pregnancy massage for not this week but next. We then went to Glasgow and had a terrific meal at Gandolfi fish and then onto the party. it was a bit of a freak out as most people I had known only as socialising when we still lived in Glasgow and went out a lot- pre family times - quite a few years ago now. however it was good to be out for a change and even managed til 1230am then drove us home. Luckily we got a lovely long lie in - but feel shattered today - and woke this morning with the most horrendous calf cramps - DH who was woken by my screaming thoughtI was in labour!

1stMrsF · 26/04/2009 12:33

Thank you for your admiration ladies . I constantly amaze myself that I'm not falling on my face TBH! I am starting to be quite alarmed at this stage that my body will never be the same again, but the fact that it is all bump is consoling me slightly.

I've tried wearing those bump supports, but they are not great if you are just getting on with every day life - switching between sitting and standing means that they are never comfortable. So I'm managing, but you will probably understand now why I've been so restricted to the house (and my sofa) in the last few weeks!!

1stMrsF · 26/04/2009 12:34

Beautiful day here. Am in and out of the garden and drying clothes on the washing line which makes me incredibly happy for some reason.

ladyhelenatealltheeggs · 26/04/2009 12:35

Morning all.
IstMrsF am in awe at your bump! Have a friend who is 29 weeks pg with twins so may show her this when I see her later. She is the same size, if not a bit bigger than me at 39 weeks at the mo. Her last scan suggested that the babies were above average size each for a normal single baby! Have they given you an idea how big your girls will be?

I was petrified that I would go into labour last night - the ONE night I didn't want it to happen, but am still here. Just some period pain like cramping which has been going on for a couple of weeks. DH is on his way back from Birmingham and is picking DS up from my mum's on his way. So have had a lovely quiet morning. Lie in till 10am and have been watching the London marathon with the patio doors wide open. Have such admiration for all the run the marathon. I've done 2 half marathons since DS was born and loved it. Best way of losing weight and what a sense of achievement when you get over the finish line. Don't think I could ever do a full marathon though!

1stMrsF · 26/04/2009 12:54

Ladies, I'm doing something very exciting. I'm ordering from Ocado to arrive at the end of the week to ensure that when I get home from the hospital early next week there are things here that I have missed. Pate for example.

What else should I make sure is in the fridge/cupboards when I get back?

1stMrsF · 26/04/2009 12:58

ladeyhelen try not to scare her with the pictures! Mine have been growing above average since about 30 weeks too. Tell her we are both to be congratulated on our twin growing ability. The estimated weight for mine at 36 weeks was 6lbs, with predicted weight at 38 weeks a bit over 7lbs. I haven't heard of anyone who has had babies that are the predicted weight though, but I'm assuming that they will be around 6lbs. They've also been a very similar size and weight throughout, which is good.

Belgianchocolates · 26/04/2009 13:05

1stmrsF I remember not too long ago we had a lade who had twins at term and they were each good sizes for singletons, let alone twins. I'm pretty sure 1 was 8lbs and the other a good 7! So it can happen. I think you're doing really well with your twins, carying them for as long and as problem free as you're doing.

I'm not sure what I'd put on my post delivery ocado list. I'd definitely have runny egg, but that's not something you can order from Ocado . I'll also tuck into some sushi after the birth too. I'm going to put some champagne ready in the fridge too, because with a home birth I think I'll have a glass once we're all alone and everything is settled

1stMrsF · 26/04/2009 13:06

Good idea - have bought some champers, but it's not in the fridge

Momino · 26/04/2009 13:11

1stMrsF, absolutely love your bump and esp love how happy you look in the pics! also like your idea for shopping for things you've missed. DH has already put champagne in the fridge! i want to get some runny cheese as well.

all, thank you for the words of support. i guess i'm just fed up with it all as well as scared (not a good combination). I just wish i didn't have signs like the show or cramps because it makes me feel like i'll go into labour. but each day goes by and nothing's happening so am frustrated.

turns out inlaws will keep DDs/dog for another 2 days which is so helpful as I've got people (hopefully) coming to fix the kitchen tomorrow. mixed emotions though since i'd like to spend quality time with DDs before LO arrives. i think this is for the best though and am grateful for I/L taking care of them.

Momino · 26/04/2009 13:17

belgian, good idea on the sushi... gonna steal that one and think of you when i eat it .

Belgianchocolates · 26/04/2009 13:18

I'm naughty and am already eating runny cheese, so it's on my current list any way

My parents have brought a DVD with with the old Super 8 films from me and my brother when we were little. We watched it last night. Dd loved seeing it, but ds got a bit bored after 10 mins. It's amazing to see my mum so slim and young and she looks like she could have walked straight off the set of 'Ashes to ashes' Especially the one outfit: knee high white leather boots with a white fur trimmed coat. So funny

Tummum · 26/04/2009 13:32

MrsF you look amazing;truely blooming in every sense of the word ! I, on the other hand, just look knackered and haggered . Hence no profile piccies ! Can I suggest blue / runny cheese, cashew nuts and more alcohol for your shopping list ! How very exciting that it's only next week you will meet your daughters

Monimo I really, really hope something happens in the next couple of days now that you have childcare arrangements sorted.

Blotted keep that bum in the air, like you just don't care.

Momino · 26/04/2009 13:35

tummum, blue cheese, yummmmm. thanks also for your supportive words [closes eyes and imagines tummum doing a jig ].

FiKelly · 26/04/2009 13:39

belgian at your mum's outfit lol! spot on for the time I would think though..

I've been naughty this pregnancy and had the odd runny yoke fried egg sandwich but have not had any runny cheese or unpasteurised stuff, cured meats or any alcohol at all. I'm such a cheap date with booze I thought it best to not have any. I'm woozy after a shandy !

llareggub · 26/04/2009 13:39

Mrs F, you look amazing!

I've just finished some runny poached eggs, like I have every Sunday. I'd forgotten they were verboten. Hey ho!

llareggub · 26/04/2009 13:40

Oh, and I have an Easter egg in my hospital bag for post-birth end of GD gluttony!

sausagenmash · 26/04/2009 13:43

Hello everyone, hope you are all having a lovely sunny day. Am thoroughly fed up, after another huge row with 'd'p, just feeling very worthless, fat and stupid now. Ugh. Have yummy soft and blue cheese in the fridge, which I'm not allowed. Tempted to stuff it, munch a load with some biscuits, and have a large glass of red as well. Ggrrrrrrr.

1stMrsF · 26/04/2009 13:44

llare & tummum you are too kind

FiKelly · 26/04/2009 13:45

needless to say all of these things are going in the fridge along with some sushi and favourite duck and orange pate. also really fancied a frozen margharita in a salted rim glass.. I think it's our cocktail discussions that's done that though..

Tummum · 26/04/2009 13:48

Saus if it helps, my DH is still being a total ar*e and I could happily slap him around the head with a saucepan at the mo. Men, who'd have em? The good bit about us arguing all the time is that I get much better sleep because he is in a separate room at the moment

sausagenmash · 26/04/2009 13:52

Thanks Tummum - glad its not just mine! He stormed out in a temper, kicking in my nice brabantia bin, which has now got a bloody great big dent in it. God, he's like Jekyll and Hyde sometimes. He's now back with flowers, but is still ignoring me
