Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 20/04/2009 13:31

Hello all

Looby, we're all so desparate for the next baby to be born, we're all out on the campaign trail for you!

And hello belgian glad you're ok and we're all happy you're back

Re the strippers - personally I'm cool about things like that, but I know DH lurves me lots and lots. However with some past XP's, I may not have been so chilled about it. It's a difficult one.

On a different topic, do you want to know how horrendously anal I am (no, we are talking about 'putting out' here ladies )?

I have not been able to pack baby bodysuits for my 'not going into hospital bag', as I realised the other day that they have the days of the week on. I whimpered to DH that I couldn't pack any because I don't know what day of the week the baby will be born on and I seriously could not put the wrong day of the week bodysuit on. He just ruffled my hair and said 'you're really weird'.

And yes, I know I am. I am going to have to buy some plain ones now.

I feel like crap too and want this baby out and still have 4 - 6 weeks to go (both DD's were 2 weeks overdue, the little minxes), I am all shuffly and waddly and moany and groany. My bloody back kills all the time........I move with incredible slowness. DD2 said 'Mum, you walk like Granny now'. Thank you very much!!! It just is no fun now. I took the poor dog out today in the glorious sunshine, she looks so gutted when she's with me, she keeps having to stop and wait for me to catch up, muttering and shuffling and breathing INCREDIBLY heavily. I think I even embarrass my dog!!!

Tummum · 20/04/2009 13:46

Beautiful afternoon everyone ! I am determined not to moan and complain on this post, having spent the weekend being a miserable so-and-so.

I too was kept up last night with regular BH between 4 and 6. Took some paracetamol which didn't help, but it obv. stopped as I woke up at 7 after a really vivid dream that I had had the LO, and was tres disappointed to find I was still preggers !!! So now I have visited B&Q we really are ready for LO to turn up.

Belgian so glad your HB is back on the cards

Looby can't believe all of this messing about. It's rubbish for you - you must feel like you are on an emotional rollercoaster the whole time

Chocolatebs v. exciting re: wedding. Can't believe it has come around so quickly

Sausage of your DP. I still want to hit mine with a saucepan because he is away ALL WEEK. Really v. sensible in my current condition !

Grumpy I was late with previous DC aswell. So all of my talk about early labour signs is a bit rubbish really. DD1 said to be yesterday "when are we going to get my thin Mummy back?" V. cute, but given I was a size 16 pre-pregnancy, that is going to be a veeeerrrryyy long time.

Off for a nap whilst DC are kept entertained by someone else to recover from no sleep earlier.

flippineck · 20/04/2009 14:04

Sorry to hear so many of you are having problems sleeping, it's miserable isn't it? I've had a few good nights but woke at about 4 this morning...unusually DH was awake too so it was bit less lonely than normal!

chocbunnies - the wedding has come around so quickly! How exciting!

belgian - your stair gate on the deck made me laugh!

sausage - your DP sounds an absolute treasure! I thought mine was good, but sounds like like he's got a lot to learn. It's a shame that the blokes have decided to miss the BF class though, I wonder if they might have found it useful/interesting/informative? DH came to ours (when I was pregnant with DD) and he actually remembered some stuff that I didn't and was able to make useful suggestions. And I think it helped him sort of understand what was happening too.

No labour signs here really, just plenty of BHs when I do anything even slightly energetic (or have a wee - I'm sure someone else said that, who was it? can't remember, sorry).

Another beautiful day here, I'm sat in the garden with the laptop! DD's nappies are on the line in the sun, I love it when that happens. I've had a lovely morning pottering round the shops after the chiropractor (except I forgot to go to Wilkos to look for cheap shower curtains, so will have to go tomorrow with DD). I had a disappointing lunch though, I really fancied an avocado, it felt ripe but when I started eating it, it was all, well, just wrong. Boo!

llareggub · 20/04/2009 14:19

Why, why, why do I have a pain in my right buttock? It huuuuuuuuurrrts! Sob...

flippineck · 20/04/2009 14:24

llaregub - ouch! Is it worse sitting, standing or always bad? Not that I have any useful suggestions, you understand.

Jennster · 20/04/2009 14:26

grumpy Lol. I hope somebody else bought those body suits for you? I can't believe somebody so anal would not think of that! My dh had the same problem with socks. He realised he wouldn't necessarily be able to find a clean pair with the right day of the week on them and got really annoyed. I made him decide before he wore them he would have a unlucky only if he was wearing the correct day, and to have a policy of always wearing the wrong day. That way he has 6/7 chances of getting a lucky pair.

LoobyLou36 · 20/04/2009 14:34

Hi

I'm back from town and have my new funky glasses - yay!

The hospital have rung - they want me in at 5 o'clock. They've said they'd hook me up to a monitor first and then go from there so it finally looks like they are going to induce me .

Just thinking about having a bath with lavendar oil to try to relax me. A while ago I think it was detsy mentioned clary sage oil used in labour to help contractions. Does anyone know how/if it works? or what you are supposed to do with it? I bought some a couple of weeks ago but forgot about it.

Momino · 20/04/2009 14:53

great news looby! lovely to have new glasses as well. also love your bump pic, your expression is how I feel!

belgian, glad babe's right way still and HB in cards.

grumpy, v funny post .
chocobunnies, your wedding is on my due date - what a big, important day! about strippers, i know my DH loves me but at this hormonal stage, i wouldn't like to think of him out with his mates on a stag do in a strip place. it is harmless fun, i suppose. and he'll only be thinking of you and wedding and won't pay attention to the strippers anyway.

all others, hi and hope you're well. I'm in my usual spot for Quiet Time with dd1 as dd2 naps. went to th epark earlier but now everything is so exhausting. can't push girls on the swings, lift them up to get to the slides, have to explain to them i'm not able to carry them anymore.

dd2 seems to be extra clingy, grumpy, beginning tantrums...at almost 20 months, do you think she senses the baby coming or probably just normal traits of her age ? she wants to be held constantly, very unlike her. I'd like her to get used to me not picking her up but she just fusses all the time. am trying to distract her with toys or amusements.

looby,it's all going to happen!! good luck this eve.

Momino · 20/04/2009 15:10

looby, aren't you lucky addressed twice in one post... my post ended up being so long that i didn't see or remember that I'd already written to you !

Tummum · 20/04/2009 15:37

Looby super cool new glasses - perfect spending . Dets was right that Clary Sage can help ctx in labour. It also smells pretty nice too. Really hope it goes well for you tonight.x

LoobyLou36 · 20/04/2009 15:48

how do you use the clary sage? Do you rub it somewhere in a massage oil? Sniff it?

Help - I've got to leave for the hospital in half an hour

Tummum · 20/04/2009 16:08

Sniff it on a piece of tissue paper, or
Add (with some milk or carrier oil) to a bath, or
Burn it, or
Add to carrier oil (e.g. almond) and massage your bump. Good luck !!!

Belgianchocolates · 20/04/2009 16:08

Good luck this evening looby. Stay relaxed and you'll be fine!

Grumpy Lol @ your body suits . I must say that sort of thing doesn't bother me. My dcs had bibs with days of the week on and never wore the right bib on the right day. Come to think of it, dd has got days of the week pants. Occasionally we get it right.

Ses Any of those 3 will suit me fine as a stripper Actually I'd gladly swap dh for any of those!

I went out for a drive with my new Zafira to pick up the dcs. It's so different from driving the corsa. It'll be getting used to sitting up so high and it's got 6 gears and a funny shaped hand break. It's also a diesel, so have to remember that when I go and fill it up. DH seems to think I'm always banging my cars around and thinks the car is too good for me . I don't really bang the car that often, but I think I do more driving than him and I go to more places where you're more likely to get a scratch, like supermarkets, multi story car parks, etc... I managed to keep the corsa dent free for 3 years, until 2 weeks ago.

I finally managed to get my prescription for my co-codamol. With going into hospital on thurs I hadn't been able to get it and my left leg has been really painful the last 2 days. I can't really lift it, I'm just sort of dragging it around. Hopefully now I've had some it'll feel a bit better.

Does anyone else get a tingling sensation at the top of their bump? I've had it for a few weeks now. Never had it with the other 2. I wonder what it is?

Tummum · 20/04/2009 16:08

Burn it in oil burner thingie I meant - not just light with flame

Looby good luck again, hope this is 'the one'!

Have been to meet the breastfeeding support ladies at Children's Centre. Had lovely chat and lots of advice. I learnt that my PCT area has one of the worst breastfeeding rates in the country and is thus known as Cow and Gate Country! It seems there needs to be huge cultural shift to up the rates. Am happy to be obliging! The PCT are however putting some cash into helping the shift. All mum's giving birth in one hospital in the area get a breastfeeding support visit from a volunteer whilst still in hospital (unfortunately I'm going to another hospital, but will still get volunteer visit at home within 48 hours of discharge! Wow - didn't expect that).

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 20/04/2009 16:12

Oooh Looby - best of luck for this afternoon - I will cross everything that I can possibly cross. Oh, I hope everything goes ok for you today!!

Momino - I meant to say I'm with you on the dog thing - our dog Beebee barks at everyone who walks past (sometimes even if they're on the other side of the street). Today's been particlarly bad, as we still get 'rag & bone' men up here and they've been out in force today, driving very slowly round the streets, shouting VERY loudly and Beebs has barked every time. Bless.

Hello to everyone else, I was going to do a proper hello and catch-up but I have been informed that I am taking DD2 to the park to push her on the swings for several years. And then I am making a quiche, apparently.

okay - not allowed oil burner in hospital.

so have added it to rapeseed oil with lavender oil to make a massage oil - figure DH can rub it in shoulders, bump, etc

will take the oil in the bottle to add to a tissue as well

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 20/04/2009 16:14

Belgian at careless attitude towards day of the week clothing!!

I just couldn't. It would just send me mental.

Lol, I'm a perfectionist in other ways though. I'd never put my dcs in non-ironed vest, you see!
