Morning everyone.

I'm getting ready for my big meet up with Detsy, but I'm a bit stuck now. I didn's sleep well, my teeth hurt, I've definitely been tooth grinding in my sleep. So I got up too late and now I'm still in my dressing gown waiting for the Ocado man to come. I just know he'll arrive the minute I get into the shower.

spangle It's so lovely to hear you're back on here. I'm sure Harvey will be ready to feed on demand soon. You're doing so well with breastfeeding from what I'm reading. Lots of mums I've met with jaundiced babies would have given up by now, but you've clearly stuck with it and now he's thriving. My dcs hated baths as newborns, but ds started loving them quite soon and he's always been a waterbaby ever since. I bet your baby H will be a waterbaby too, you must take him swimming as soon as he's big enough. He'll love it!

Anyway. Ocado is here now. Yay, I can get into the shower and get ready!

Blottedcopybook · 14/04/2009 08:38

Daizy A producer found my blog where I'd talked about housework (or lack of therein!) and asked me if I'd appear on FiveLive with Richard Bacon last night to discuss it. I'm just going to listen to it now, I think I sounded like an eejit!

Momino Yeah I'll be able to nap later this afternoon

Spangle I agree with Belgian! Well done you for persevering!

I've got a lot of running around to do this morning but should be able to rest up this afternoon. I booked the boys into sports camps this week which are at opposite sides of the town so I've got to drive between the two to drop them off and pick them up. Happy days!

FiKelly · 14/04/2009 08:42

emmab lol

blotted and daisy I hope you got some sleep and hope you get a quiet day to recover..

looby enjoy yourself today sounds like a lovely first day of ml.

I've got my 36wk appointment at southmead hospital this morning to discuss birth options etc hoping they'll have a feel of bump to check position etc. like belgian I have no idea where lo is now! off to get ds dressed.. he was up at 5am hammering the pegs in his workbench at 5am this morning by the light of his mobile.. he'd even taken it into his bed to do it in comfort! dh settled him back to sleep and we got a lie in till 7.30am.. bliss!

emmabemmasmom · 14/04/2009 09:15

Morning!!

Desty & Belgian Hope you have a lovely meet up!

Spangle Oh baby Harvey is soo cute! I bet you are happy to be home now and able to get into a rutine (well try to!). Still can't believe you have a new man in your life

Fi Hope your appointment goes well today!

I did not sleep at all last night either. I don't know why but I was just lying there all night. I was to lazy to get up and come on MN though! Probably fell asleep about 6am after DH left and slept till 8am when DD got up...going to have to keep myself busy today!

My friend has cancelled plans with me and DD again today...second time in a week so not to thrilled but oh well!

DD is picking up little things off the floor and eating them...guess I should get the hoover out today too Looks fine to me but my god she finds every little thing!

Febes · 14/04/2009 09:20

Morning!!
I think we will have some tired PG ladies on here later. I too didn't sleep too well but I was reading my book so I could return it at the library today.

Belgian The kicks and punches are mainly at the front and to the right of my belly button I definately don't think breech just the back has gone round or off to the far left maybe.

I was so knackered last night and feeling really fed up and emotional but I think I feel a bit better today. My friend and her DS are coming soon and we are going to Toddler Time at the library so I'm looking forward to that but hope the walk doesn't set the SPD off again. I've been on paracetamol every 4 hours since yesterday.

I went to some friends yesterday who are moving to SA tomorrow and they want to get rid of some toys so DD is in 7th heaven playing with everything. Our front room looks like a plastic colourful bomb has gone off though.

Enjoy your meet up today those who are going.

Tummum · 14/04/2009 10:22

Morning ladies. Well the hormones have well and truely kicked in today. The Nanny has taken DC to the park with some friends and they are going to have a picnic, and I am missing them already and crying. Pathetic really, but I really can't go because I am immobile. I am now worrying about there being a big car accident and me not being there etc etc. So need a cuppa tea and sit in bed with feet up until Dr appointment at 11.30.

Fi hope appt goes well today
Spangle well done at keeping going at the BF. I found it v. difficult with my first (probably 'cos I was so stressed at everything else) - IKWYM about suddenly having to be aware of what the time is and when the last feed was etc. etc. - sounds like you are doing a fab job
Belgian and Detsy enjoy the meet up and I hope you have some lovely weather. Sorry I couldn't be there
emmab blotted and Daisy hope you get some rest today.

Oh look, I am bawling about missing the kids again so going to put the kettle on.

Emmab - well done you! but for getting caught - how embaressing!

Spangle finally had a chance to look up pics on FB and Harvey is gorgeous - feeling broody!- just as well!

Love the name too - we have a girl's name picked if it's a girl - Rosie - my middle name, but can't seem to find a boy's one that we like. DS is called Gabriel which I love, but people tend to think it is confusing sometimes and call Gabrielle instead at appointments etc!? why is it difficult - Peter Gabriel, Gabriel Byrne, Archangel Gabriel etc etc!

But if this one is a boy I don't want any ambiguity this time.

I had another scan on Friday and saw close ups of the baby's face was lovely to see. Baby had its legs up and couldnt work out if i was seeing a sac - IYKWIM!! -or not - they won't tell you at our hospital, but now i think it might be a boy rather than a girl.

Consultants appointment was good - he had buggered of f but Registrar explained what had happened to me the last time Accidental partum hemorrage after induction - and the risks this time. we are going for a spontaneous labour but a CS if beyond my due date. So all I have to do is mentally prepare myself for VBAC! I think I am in denial TBH - as last time - I was put under a general to get the baby out quicker so wasn't even conscious for the birth! so really don't know what to expect!

Jael · 14/04/2009 11:25

Hiya ladies Sorry Midland ladies

I haven't been very well again, and had to spend a couple of nights in hospital, I had another episode similiar to before (symptoms of a mini stroke) so DP rushed me straight off to the hospital and they kept me in. I got seen by a neurologist who did a ton of tests, and is sure, but can't say for definate, that I'm, sufering from that quite serious type of migraine, that a couple of you ladies mentioned before. I still need to have an MRI to rule out everything else, but it is stil very very scary, as they just hit me suddenly, I lose my speech, and one side of my body...which is why they want me on meds asap, I'm going to see if they'll bring my CS date forward abit tomorrow, as it's currently 30th April but I'm so petrified it's going to happen again, I just want to be put on some medication to sort it...I'm having to get other people to mind DD at the moment, as I don't feel I can be responsible for her if I have another one, I'm 37 weeks tomorrow, and the babys larger than average apparently, surely they'll be willig to move it forward so I can get myself sorted? I can't carry on like this, I'm so

sausagenmash · 14/04/2009 11:32

Oh Jael you poor thing. I'm sure they'd bring it forward... fingers crossed for you. Migraines are awful, I had another one on Sunday, numb hand, couldn't talk, flashing lights. Ugh. Frightening. I hope you get it sorted soon.

I didn't sleep very well last night either. What's happening??!!

rosielady · 14/04/2009 11:36

Jael - how frightening for you - I would hope they can bring forward your CS to let you get some sort of medication to help you. 37 weeks is surely well on enough - I'm sure the baby would be fine. Let us know how you get on. Big hugs to you.

emmabemmasmom · 14/04/2009 11:40

Jael So Sorry to hear that you are having such a hard time. Hope everything goes ok tomorrow and that they are able to bring it forward a bit for you. Shouldn't have to go on like that and I would think 37 weeks would be enough as it is considered full term at this point. Hope it goes well anyway!

Yeah, why are none of us sleeping? Is it a sign of sorts? Bodies getting used to a zombie state before babies arrive? lol

frazzledoldbag · 14/04/2009 11:53

jael poor you [hugs]

Re:sleeping - it seems I'm the only one on here who is sleeping like a log BUT I do find that I only sleep well if:
I have a small snack before bed and no caffeine in the afternoon or evening then
I have a 20 minute or so warm bath followed by slapping on my body oil and cosy pj's
The get immediately into bed, light off and put my ipod on and listen to my hypnobirth cd - it's so relaxing I never hear the end (and it's only about 25 mins long).
If I don't do all these things I either can't get to sleep or wake up about 3am and am then awake for about 2 hrs (very irritating).
Oh and I try not to drink much during the evening so I"m not up peeing all night.......
detsy and belgian enjoy your meet up. How exciting (......are you wearing carnations in your button holes and carrying a copy of 'Parenting' Magazine to be easily spotted?!!)

frazzledoldbag · 14/04/2009 11:55

sorry, actually realise that sleeping comment might sound a bit 'smug' - really I'm not! I had virtually no sleep for the last few wks of my other 2 pg's so know how horrible it is.....just thought I'd share my own personal magic formula for sleep to see if it's of any use to anyone else x

ladyhelenatealltheeggs · 14/04/2009 12:04

jael poor you. Hope you get some joy with your CS. 37 weeks is full term and then hopefully you can get these migraines sorted. FWIW my mum began to have terrible migranines after her 3rd pg. They were so bad, she was incapacitated for 2 days at a time. After about 6 years of this, they finally found out it was BP related which had been high ever since her last pg. She has medication now for her BP and hasn't had a migraine since. It may not help you but I just wanted you to know that I'm sure they will find out why you are suffering and sort it out.

frazzled I may pass your sleeping tips on to my DH who has had terrible insomnia for the past few weeks. Prob not the hypnobirthing CD tip though. Not sure he would find that relevant!! But I could probably find him a sleeping download for his ipod somewhere.

frazzledoldbag · 14/04/2009 12:09

ladyhelen - yes guess it's worth getting him to try some of the tips but maybe not rubbing body oil into his bump or listening to a woman telling him about his elastic cervix! That would be comical . But seriously a relaxation/visualisation thing he could listen to on an ipod might do the trick - I didn't think it would work for me and it absolutely does!

emmabemmasmom · 14/04/2009 12:18

Weird question:

How do you make a perfect hard boiled egg?

DH wants egg salad...which I said I would make for his lunch tomorrow...

I always get nervous they will be underdone so end up cooking a few min to long and get the weird green thing between the yolk and white...

So how long? I have heard 12 min, 15 min, 20 min starting from cold water and timing once boiling...And, after the magic timing do I run under cold water to stop the cooking process?

I call myself a decent cook and yet I cannot boil an egg lol

frazzledoldbag · 14/04/2009 12:26

emma WHAT! Sex in the shower and now an egg salad! Your DH is seriously spoilt!

I don't boil a lot of eggs (uck) but I've never had a weird green thing in one......if I am boiling eggs (hard) I don't usually time them particularly - I'd just bung them in a pan of water and boil for I guess about 15 mins (usually I forget about them) - and they\ve always been fine!

If you're really unsure look up Delia online - I'm sure she's probably got a website telling you basic stuff like that...but honestly as long as they're cooked through I don't think it matters. For a soft-boiled egg I do about 4 mins (from the fridge)....so anything longer than 5 must mean it's cooked through?

Hmmmm....confusing

frazzledoldbag · 14/04/2009 12:28

I know, do an eggsperiment....
get 4 saucepans and 4 eggs and cook them all for different times to see which gives the most 'perfect' result......let us know!

emmabemmasmom · 14/04/2009 12:50

frazzle lol yeah well you tell that to DH then! Gives me something to think about

Right well I will start on my eggsperiment then!

The green thing is like a little line of green between the yolk and the white. It does not taste of anything but I had read that it is a sign it is overcooked...oh well...why am I worried over an egg for gods sake. He will just eat what he is given!

SpangleMaker · 14/04/2009 12:51

Jael you are having a rough time of it. I'm sure they could bring your cs forward a little. 37wks is regarded as full term, isn't it?

Having a bit of a rough day here - H has a very blocked nose & is so uncomfortable, poor thing. Being a paranoid 1st time mum I actually rang the mw on the pretext the health visitor was s'posed to come round but hasn't. She told me, as i guessed, there's not much to do except wait for him to sneeze it out. I've been having to hold him all morning as he gets more uncomfortable & distressed lying down.

AND we've run out of heating oil. And DH has gone back to work today he didn't want to go though, bless.

Febes · 14/04/2009 13:24

Spangle- breast milk is an excellent decongestant so feed him and it should give him some relief also put some books or towels under the head feet of the moses basket or cot so he's not lying too flat. They are usually quite stuffed up for the first wee while as their passages are still full of mucus so they sneeze alot which is so cute.

Febes · 14/04/2009 13:25

Jael -that sounds scary I hope you can move your CS forward.

Right I'm off to do my Tesco's internet shop.

SpangleMaker · 14/04/2009 13:34

Febes thanks! as it happens I've just done that with the moses basket and he's now sound asleep I think I'll give him half an hour then wake him up for a feed.

Meant to say earlier, thanks for the encouraging comments re breastfeeding. I was lucky that the hospital midwives were very supportive & did a lot to help me establish feeding. When they formally diagnosed the jaundice the paed said H should be on 50mls every 3 hours. They put me on the pump as he hadn't fed that morning and got 30-40mls off each side, so the midwives decided I should try just bf-ing & see how we got on. Fortunately it worked, otherwise I would have been expressing and/or under pressure to top up with formula. I've just heard from the DH of one of the girls from my NCT group who is having to do this (also due to jaundice) and I really feel for her.

pulapula · 14/04/2009 13:42

emmabemmasmom - I'm sure i did some research into boiling the perfect egg a while back, but i'm afraid I can't remember the results. I think i found Delia's rules, but there are different ones depending on if you start with cold water or boiling water...

Jael- let's hope they can bring your cs forward, especially as you are 37 weeks now so considered term.

I must say the last 2 nights I have been like frazzled and slept right through from 11pm to 7am . Not sure what i've done differently, but one thing could be (and I don't endorse it) that I have had a small glass of white wine in place of my usual mug of tea. Also it helps that the DCs haven't woken up for wees etc as once i'm awake i find my mind is racing and it takes an hour to drop off again.

Not sure who it was (llareggub?) who had the pressure on their cervix, but i have just had the same feeling so maybe my LO has dropped. It does feel like he's rummaging around down there (maybe moving his head round).

And I checked the scales last night and i have now gained 3 stones in weight at 34 weeks. Still not the 4 stones i gained with DD but well over the 2 stones I gained with DS and officially the heaviest i have ever been (13st 4lb). Oh well, I just have to hope this LO is OK with breastfeeding so i can loose some baby weight.

Tummum · 14/04/2009 13:52

Jael how scary for you. Big hugs. I hope you are able to move your CS so you can get onto that medication asap.

PP and Frazzled I have managed quite good sleep (apart from in the caravan due to copious snoring from DH ) I think because I have knackered myself out looking after DC. Watch now - I will have a crap night's sleep !

I am feeling all niggly today. I went to Drs about swollen feet who basically told me to put my feet up, but the trouble is that that sets off my SPD. So I'm just gonna have to put up with it until LO arrives, hopefully sooner rather than later. I can't believe I am 37.5 weeks - scary.

emmabsmom I would suggest Delia Online too. I think the green line comes from cooling the eggs too quickly after cooking rather than too much cooking.

Right, I'm off to hide the evidence that I have eaten one of the DCs Easter Eggs . I do feel sick now - my comeuppance !
