Haven't actually been sick yet, but do feel very yucky/tired/dizzy when I'm hungry and first thing in the morning and I did retch while cleaning my teeth yesterday. I'm being sensible though and taking lots of iron and eating little and often.

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 14/04/2009 14:31

good luck gruff!

Thx for your lovely messages of support about the feeding.

Things here are tough today -seems to be one thing after another. SG is being sick what seems like a lot. No idea if its too much. She seems to constantly be sicking on me or her sheets. I'm concerned that, what with the lack of poo, something is wrong. Am waiting to talk to the mw about what is normal for being sick. Don't think its reflux as she doesn't seem in pain.

I also think I did myself some damage during birth my cocycx is still really bruised and today after a short walk my whole rear end is agony and i can barely sit on my arse which is making feeding really hard. Also think i've got a bladder prolapse or somthing as it feels like my fanjo is hanging out, and i cant stand up for long without feeling like im going to wee myself- nice! Sorry for TMI but I'm going mad here

Is all that normal after birth? Am I being a wimp?

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 14/04/2009 14:34

Sorry for the massively me me me post

Starshinetiger · 14/04/2009 15:22

Yay Gruff - good luck for nicest labour possible!

GYo - Second everyone else, you are doing a fab job. I found it really tough with DS (my PFB! ) - wasn't really expecting it to be so hard - have found it easier going from 1 to 2, than I did from 0 to 1. Re. Bf really hope NCT lady will be able to help with latching and other suggestions. With DS, I demand fed to start with then tried to get him into some kind of routine - then when I looked back at the times he'd fed and for how long he had had himself in some kind of routine before I tried to force one on him - so you might find the demand feeding will help. Twas me who mentioned the lying down feeding - was chatting to one of my NCT chums about it this am at meet up and she is also sleeping with her DD in bed at night and feeding her. Is absolutely your choice, but unless you normally move about a lot at night you will probably find you don't move - I find I just doze while she's feeding and wake up when she takes herself off me - then I move myself back across bed so I'm not in danger of rolling on her. May be worth trying it in bed during day and see if you can relax? Also, a crying mouth is a wide open one and can be an easier mouth to get your boob into ! If she doesn't latch on properly, just stick your little finger in corner of mouth to prise her off and she will then cry and you can shove her onto your boob - you would be surprised how much force a mw at a bfing clinic will use to push your baby onto your boob while their mouth is open! Shocked me last time round!
Not saying I have all the answers - is tough and with DD I am finding I'm feeding her every 1.5-2 hours 'cos (like your DS LB) she only feeds for a short time each feed and she likes to use me as a dummy - to poo, to get to sleep, etc! Got her weighed today and she has put on 6 ozs in 8 days, so am happy to continue with this demand feeding. I honestly think the first 6 weeks or so with a newborn go really slowly GYo, but then you'll settle in (both of you). Don't go with bottle top-ups unless you need to, but if it's what you want, then I honestly believe happy mummy = happy baby!
Re. bfing in public, do you have a pashmina (our market sell them really cheaply)? You can drape that over your shoulder, down over baby's head (and across their body if you like) and I defy anyone to know what is happening - I even had my inlaws not realise I was feeding DS once when I was sat like that - not sure where they thought he was LOL! Might make you feel more comfy about being out and about in town. Also, our town's John Lewis has a parents' room with a special breastfeeding area, but as you get more confident, you can sit in a cafe with baby covered and feeding and you can relax with a drink and a mag.
Hope this doesn't make me sound like I'm preaching, but I do remember feeling like it sounds you are with DS and just wondering whether anyone else went through it or not. So, hope it helps.
Hope your aches and pains get sorted - you should go to see GP, one of the NCT girls has a sacral spasm after giving birth and GP is referring her for physio - you must remember to look after yourself as well as Baby GYo.
Right - sorry for lengthy post am making the most of one of last 7 days when DS is at childminder for part of day (DD is asleep).
Moos - hope sickness stays at bay.
Nat - good to see you back.
Hi everyone else!

lastboxoftampons · 14/04/2009 16:12

Yay, Gruff!!!! Good luck!!! We'll be thinking of you!

GYO I'm sorry you're having a tough day. I don't really have any advice to give as I've not been there, but didnt' want your post to go unanswered. Thinking of you - take care.

I just bought a few items for the little guy in M&S for £1 each! Including an England rugby shirt that DH is going to be so excited over

Sparklytwinkletoes · 14/04/2009 16:26

Great post starshine! I tried to put about shoving the boob in the mouth this morning, but it just sounded brutal (I guess I was shocked at the time!) but its exactly right - you've put it loads better than I was going to, glad I took it out again now

KinderEggKayzr · 14/04/2009 16:28

DH HAS A JOBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

sparkly wow 15 weeks
ye for movements and for using doppler

thats great news kay

SesIsCountingdowntheweeks · 14/04/2009 16:47

Kay - that is fantastic!!!

Gruff - thinking of you but hopefully things are progressing nicely now.

GYo - I don't think you're being wimpish at all! Just hope I'll be doing as well as you are in 6 weeks time!

LBOT - thanks for the Lottie update. Please pass on my congrats on her wedding and best wishes for the IVF when you're next in touch.

Star - sounds like you and DD are doing really well too!

The "meet the HV" session was ok. There was about 18 of us. She did seem v strict and bossy!

I've also started to swell up a bit. I've had to take off my engagement ring and a couple of others and I'm not happy about it! Have put them on my chain round my neck for the moment... Wedding ring must be a little larger as that's ok at the moment.
Have had a few more BH over the weekend but much milder than that other evening I mentioned.

Everyone seems to think my bump is a boy bump at the moment. Every time I try and talk myself into accepting it could be a boy (and not the girl I keep imagining) my brain just kicks in telling me not to bother as it's a girl!!
I know I won't mind which but I just wish my brain would keep the options open!!

Kayzr · 14/04/2009 16:49

Ses, it will probably be a girl then. Apparently mothers are never wrong.

SesIsCountingdowntheweeks · 14/04/2009 16:51

Hmmm! I hope so Kay - wouldn't be a v good start to be wrong already!!

SesIsCountingdowntheweeks · 14/04/2009 16:54

Kay - what is the job that you DH has got? When does he start? Are you celebrating??!

Sparklytwinkletoes · 14/04/2009 16:55

Kay! Congrats to your DH - that's great news, you must be very relieved.

Am I right in thinking it should get MIL off your case for at least a little while... or is that just wishful thinking ?

tinkhaseatentoomanyeastereggs · 14/04/2009 16:55

everyone said my bump looked like a boy bump 2 and dh had 2 cut off 2 of my rings

SesIsCountingdowntheweeks · 14/04/2009 16:57

Hi tink! That's interesting about your bump, maybe I am right...! Oooh speculation, speculation!
That's why I've taken my rings off - really would hate to have them cut off.

Kayzr · 14/04/2009 17:00

He has an induction next Tuesday and starts on Thursday.

It is his old job that he had before the one he was laid off from. He knows the job well, knows 99% of the staff and his old/new supervisor is really happy to have him back.

MIL thinks he should sit on his bum while I work all day everyday so she isn't too happy.

tinkhaseatentoomanyeastereggs · 14/04/2009 17:06

not your mil again kay

SesIsCountingdowntheweeks · 14/04/2009 17:07

It is such good news though
I don't think your MIL will ever be happy. Maybe being a misery is what she thinks will make her get attention and then be happy but it never works so she just stays miserable and gets worse..

I'm really disappointed. Just had an email from my Godmother who I was meant to be meeting up with tomorrow with my Mum as well. She had an accident at the supermarket on Saturday. Someone ran into her and caught the back of her shoe so that it broke and she fell. She has 2 replacement knees and is now laid up
I swear supermarkets are getting more and more dangerous! I'll stick to Tesco online I think!

sorkycakey · 14/04/2009 17:21

That's fantastic news Kayz

lol at shoving boob in gob's of babies. I know that trick well .

Also, if she isn't opening her mouth wide enough press your thumb down on her chin as she comes towards you this will open her mouth wider for a better latch.

I love b'fing sooo much, I have to reign myself in from full on ranty soapbox .

Btw I hope you won't be offended, but I don't have pashmina's etc in public, I'll likely be feeding in Betty's in front of you, so please do say here if you think that'll be weird, it'll save a bit of embarrassment at the time.

note: I don't go topless! I'm as discreet as I can be but you will likely be able to tell I'm feeding a small child

Anyone have any updates from Gruff.

sorkycakey · 14/04/2009 17:21

Kayz it sounds like your MIL needs to get a job, then she will have something to occupy her mind.

sorkycakey · 14/04/2009 17:26

Moosy I have just got back from posting that parcel. Hope the sickness stays away

Kayzr · 14/04/2009 17:27

She is a foster carer but doesn't have any kids at the minute.

Not bothered by BF. I was with several BFeeding MNers on Thursday. A group of people did move away from us when they saw BF was happening but we had more room then.

Diege · 14/04/2009 17:39

Gosh KAYZ am a bit that people still get offended by bf in public! That would have made me really cross! (although I take the point about the extra space ). Great news about dh's job - what a massive relief for both of you
SORKY, cause we won't be offended by non-pashima-shielding bf-ing Is it just the littlest sorky who will be with you?
SES, swelling up here too, esp feet, and skin has cracked on tops of them. Haven't been able to take off rings since pregnant with dd1, and I swear I've gone up a shoe size since getting pregnant this time! I have boy vibes for you...
Hi SPARKY, STAR, LBOX!
Hope to hear news about little gruff v.soon (aren't we all impatient!)

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 14/04/2009 17:52

Wow Star, thank you so much for taking the time to respond. Sorry i confused you with KK about the horizontal feeding thing. I can do it just about during the day (did this afternoon. Might try at night too but means chucking DH out of the bed again!!

Glad to hear its easier going from 1 to 2 rather than 0 to 1, especially given the stressful start you've had with DD. I really had no idea how hard it would be and I think I could cope if I could go out and see people but the issues I've got with the potential prolapse mean a trip shopping is impossible at the moment.

Thanks for words of encouragement about BF. Did try the pashmina thing last week and it was ok but DD just was sleepy and didnt feed well... she probably would have been like that even i'd fed at home... think I need to get some perspective here...

When i step back I think I am doing ok fter all I've fed for 3 wks and she is doing ok, gaining wt slowly but surely. Think I seem to get so worked up by everyone going on about wt gain, which is exacerbated by tiredness and discomfort of lower regions!

Thanks too STT, great to hear BFing in such positive light. It is enjoyable when it works!!

Tink- i've accepted your friend request on FB, sorry for delay, i didnt know who it was!

Kayzr · 14/04/2009 17:53

ARGHHHH!!!
