KKKKaty best was that i can describe it is like feeling butterfiles or bubbles in your tummy. So its like a faint feeling nothing too strong to start of with. later you get fists and feet sticking out. DS used to be very active at night and would often kick dp in the back!

Talking of ds I miss him. Though feel very refreshed today. I've had a lovely long soak and managed to give my hair a goood wash and condition as it smelt all herby and well not very nice from the henna the other day.

But now i'm a bit bored, can't face house work just want to chill out. But feel like i should be doing something productive. Bet he's having a lovely day though at his nana's!

A friend earlier popped over with some pregnacare and veg omega 3 tablets! so hopefully i'll be feelig better soon and have a healthy bub to boot!

Right off to look for a maternity wedding dress for next month. I now have two weddings to go to!

Hi all

Grand Designs Live is at the Excel in London WE own a 130ft Houseboat - HC - which means the maintenance is going to be even worse than a house - we don't have very much money at the moment - so we are doing things very slowly plus DP is in the building trade so often doesn't feel like doing things at home on the weekends - he is getting into the habit now as we have friends and family who are coming to help us - which makes me feel less guilty about not doing things.

Anybody else move or bend and feel as though they are being kicked in the stomach? Not worried about it just shocked when it happens.

Off to the neighbour's DD's 2nd B'day Party - hope everybody is enjoying the lovely weather.

KleineMaus · 01/05/2009 16:11

Haven't been getting full on Braxton Hicks (had loads and from fairly early on last time), but am aware of 'tightenings'. Glad it's not just me.

JDsMum I've been feeling sore when bending as well. Even though I've done this before I'm still paranoid that I'm going to squash the baby when I bend.

DevilsAdvocaat · 01/05/2009 16:31

hi all,

ds has had a vommiting bug for the last 24hrs. he seems to be getting over it but i feel rough as today!

dh came home at lunchtime and i went to bed for a couple of hours. still feeling sick, i hope it passes soon. when i woke up i went to the loo and my tummy felt funny, i lifted my top up and the bottom part of my tummy which is normally hard and sticks out more than the top bit felt empty and wobbly and the bit above the belly button was sticking out loads and was really hard honestly it was like someone had turned my bump upside down! after a few minutes it had corrected itself. weird and i never had that happen last time either. is that even physically possible?! i think my insides must be a mess after last pg

i can't remember anything anyone has said so i'm going now...

DevilsAdvocaat · 01/05/2009 16:32

(maybe the baby is swimming lengths inside me when i'm sleeping )

princessmel · 01/05/2009 18:38

Hi all

Sammysam I have been getting lots of dreams too and quite a lot of them have been scary

I seem to have a dream every time I need to wake for a wee and the other day that was 6 times. So that in turn was 6 nightmares
I felt very tired in the morning!

IDOB I sat on a roll of gaffer tape that had been left on the chair. I sat down really hard and it was (and stil is) very painfull.

HC I know, I love H+M I have some Next vouchers too so hopefully I'll get something in there aswell

LMB No jumping or wriggling here! And this is baby no 3....

HumphreysCorner · 01/05/2009 19:56

JDM-wow, a houseboat. Silly question but do you live on it? Need to see some pics. When I was a child we had a small cabin cruiser and spent lots of hols boating up and down the canals-far better than caravanning.

DevilsAdvocaat-do you have the bug too? My boy keeps hiding and moving. My bump goes from very small to very big over the space of a few minutes.

Raining here now which is disappointing. Have a good weekend all.

squidgeymiller · 01/05/2009 20:19

HI all! glad all ok, sooo lmb at your late start - I get up at 5am every day so weekends getting up at 7.30 with DD is a lie in!!

KKKKaty, with my 1st I wasn't sure either, the best way I can describe what I felt when bb was still small was that it felt like strings of bubbles moving randomly through my belly. Bare in mind also that a lot of your intestines have been squished by now so wind would be a lot higher than normal. It does feel a bit like wind though. I find that if I can feel something I'm not sure of, if I press my hands on my belly I can feel it better and be more sure of what it is.

The first time you feel one and know for sure it's a kick, it's because there's NOTHING else it can be! It's like a hard, fast poke with a finger from the inside. It's the best feeling ever and you really do miss it, but when baby gets bigger it will also be a royal pain in the a**!

Looking forward to BH but weather up in scotland set to be crap (quite nice at the mo though!). We'll be busy preparing house and garden for DD's b'day party next Sunday (oh joy!) so it's a long one for us!

Hope you all have good ones! x

squidgeymiller · 01/05/2009 20:28

Sorry, I've done it again!! MUST make sure I've read all posts before posting mine!!

Meant to say, DD nursery has a case of slapcheek, is that a worry? Apparently v contagious but they didn't think it was very bad. does anyone know anything about it?

Also, re bumps moving, I always find bump is high and hard when I wake up but lower during the day, I think I maybe squish it by sleeping slightly on my front. Always seems ok though

DevilsAdvocaat · 02/05/2009 08:36

hc i was sick once but i'm not sure if it was the bug or just having to deal with the amount of sick iykwim. he has been much better, only sick once yesterday before bedtime. he slept in until 8.15 this morning so there is a silver lining he is having some toast and juice so hopefully he will be all better today. my bump is like yours too, sometimes massive, sometimes flatter.

rubyslippers where did your dh get you alcohol free beer?

MeHimCatBlob · 02/05/2009 10:16

Hi all

thanks for the comments/ advice about nurseries etc.

I am going back to work for financial reasons (I get 6 weeks at 90% and then SMP only which we can't live on) but DP is quitting his job before I go back so will be a f/t house husband which I'm really happy about (cost of childcare would be pretty much the same as his take home so its not worth it, plus I really dont want to put little one in childcare so soon). We should be ok for me to take 2 months as my birth is due end of Oct so I can go back for a few days before Christmas and then get my paid Christmas hols. I'm not under any illusions about how hard it will be (physically, mentally and financially) but I am the boss and the main bread winner so unfortunately needs must.

hope you all have a great weekend - 3 days off work and no laptop

MeHimCatBlob · 02/05/2009 10:17

sorry just re-read that last paragraph - my job is as manager of the NW region (reading it again saying I'm the boss sounds dreadful!!)

Sugarkane · 02/05/2009 11:26

Hi all sorry not been on for ages, have been reading though but not much to report really.

I finally decided I needed maternity clothes so I went into Falkirk tried all the usual big stores and guess what, there was no where I could get any maternity clothes, was just going to make my last stop at debenhams and went all faint and light headed so had to drop that idea and get home. Not great when I got home as I couldnt get off the loo (tmi??) and now I feel like crap and by looks of it DD is to. Luckily I am still BF her and when she is ill she feeds loads and seems to recover very quick. hmmmmm wonder if I should have some myself

Hope everyone is well and their bumps coming along nicely. Oh and must add I am feeling the odd kicks now at 17 weeks and the way I would describe them is like a clunk or click inside a bit like wind but you just know is a kick.

ronniemummy · 02/05/2009 15:31

Hello fellow mum to bes. I have not posted since the OCt 09 thread was first set up! I am now 15 weeks this weekend with a due date of 24th Oct. Have had my 12 week scan and nuchal fold scan and all goof so looking forward to 20 week scan and to feeling the first flutters of baby moving!!!

Feeling generally crap at the mo- cold, sore throat, constant exhaustion, dizziness and light headedness- any one else feeling like this. No bump as such get- but then I have got quite a big belly!!!! LOL!

Haven't told work yet. I work in a school so break up 17th July for seven weeks and then return for 2-3 weeks at start of Sept and then start maternity- timing seems great as I get a huge break!

Just want to get a bit more energy back now xx

brightonbleach · 02/05/2009 17:30

hi there, newbie to the site here, just joined - am due 31/10/09 - Halloween! we keep joking about calling it Frankenstein if a boy or Frankenstina if a girl.... hope it doesn't stick...!

its our first, am very excited (except about GP & Midwife calling me a 'geriatric primate' - seriously folks, I only just turned 37 a few weeks ago, has anyone else had this outmoded medical terminology?!?!), especially excited as I have a severe form of hypothroidism and we were told at tests last October that we had rather less than a 20% of EVER concieving, but here we are with no assistance :-)) I've been incredibly tired (tell me, does that end soon??) but haven't really been sick so thats good. I haven't gained a pound yet (??) so have been glad of the scans to see the little acrobat is safe and sound and in normal growth parameters apparently - I'm very hungry and eating lots but the scales don't change... one morning it will all catch up I'm sure and I'll wake up with a humongous bump...

But we are nervous, DH & I - reading through this thread you all seem to know what you're doing, gulp this is our first and we know nothing, feel like such dunces! am about to make a list of things I will need, had a look at prams yesterday (wow are they expensive), we're lucky that some friends have toddlers and are already offering to pass things on to us.

I've never even changed a nappy before - talk about a whole new world!

We've had 2 scans already - dating scan and nuchal fold scan (our odds went from 1:150 due to age etc) to 1:10,000 which was wonderful; we have to have several more due to my thyroid condition & lots of blood tests every month & extra appointments, but am sure it will be worth it.

ahhhh, nice to chat with people in exactly the same position as me :-) sorry for long post, thanks everyone :-) have a good bank holiday...

rubyslippers · 02/05/2009 18:02

just a quick one form me as we have visitors

had a lovely day out in warm sunshine - same again tomorrow i hope

think i have the start of the dreaded SPD but am ignoring it

devils - we ordered through a website and will ask DH for a link. You can buy at most supermarkets but they don't have a huge range

hope everyone has a good evening

Welcome to mumsnet and the thread brightonbeach. i found Mumsnet when about 20 weeks pregnant with ds and found it great. You can ask loads of silly questions being a first time mum that you would be to embarrassed to ask in real life! God send. Plus its greats to check progress and find out that most of the weird feeling are all normal! I'd say most of motherhood is all instinctual and the stuff that just doesn't click, well the midwives, H/Vs are their to help as well as mumsnet. Great advice on hear, about breastfeeding, slow weight gainers, weaning, speech development etc.
P.s what a rude comment about your age! 37 is not old to be having a baby. There are lots of mums in their 30's and 40's on this thread!

MeHimCatBlob- I bet your dp will love being a stay at home dad! There are few where i live at least i often see dad's pushing around their ds at the park during working hours (so presume they are SAHDs, plus there is a dad and toddler group here. I wonder if they do one in your area too? Not that he can't go to the regular groups of course but women talking about lactating and stitches might not be his thing, if he's easily flustered!.

Ronnie Glad your scan went well! Hope you feel better soon, I felt like that last weeks but feel much better today.

SugarKane that must have been prettty frightening for you, looks like you'll need to do your maternity shopping online! Hope you and your DD feel better soon!

Ds is being dropped back soon. I have missed him! But feel so much better after two days of peace and quiet! i do love him so tho, and feel i'm a happy, nice, cheerfull mummy again, instead of tired, grumpy one!

Hi to all newbies.it's great to have newcomers at this stage.I love checking in to get everyones news and sad to say I love giving bits of advice about my previous experiences without being a complete pain in the neck!!!

It's also great because you do not feel so alone.

Have had a lovely day there was a duck race in our village today.we all pay £2 for a duck (to raise money for the playgroup)then 800 yellow plastic ducks are tipped into the river.Great fun and a real family event.Bacon and sausage rolls at the finnish line.yum yum

DD1 andDD2 then went skiing on the dry slope and played outside for the rest of the day.Bliss, tierd happy children, exhausted parents!!

I haven,t been sick for 9 days.I declare the MS over (in my case)My bump also seems to have stopped growing at such a fast rate hopefully time to enjoy being pregnant.Have a lovely evening x

BellaCullen · 02/05/2009 19:28

welcome brightonbeach lucky you not feeling sick. Are you going to find out baby sex?Theres a lot of us who are,Im just too impatient.I didnt have much of a bump with my first till over 20 weeks,so dont worry it will come.Haven`t put any weight on either but got a bump it popped out around 9 weeks but this is my 3rd your tummy just gives up quiet early.

ronniemummy welcome back to you felt like you too last week luckily cold going now but am still exhausted and feeling sick so can`t eat too much.

Ive been feeling movements since week 9 but it was on and off,now its more often and the other day it was kicking right on my bladder. Also been having Braxton Hicks since week 9. I read that you get them from week 6 but normally dont feel it,you also feel them more if youre dehydrated.Havent felt them for a month now as I make sure I drink enough. But at least they are good practice for labour.

Sammysam chickenpox appears 2 weeks after being in contact. You certainly seem to get in contact with all the childhood diseases.
X
18+1 weeks

Hi and welcome brightonbeach dont be worried as mentioned above once baby comes everything just kind of clicks, and what doesnt just ask on here and someone will have some great advice.

LittleMissBliss it was a little scary as I just felt so strange kind of confused but I was lucky DP was there and able to look after me, although my tactless mom didnt help much when I told her what happened she has insisted I get checked for swine flu as there are a few cases in Falkirk I explained the chances of me having that are very low and she can stop wishing illness on me being preg is hard enough as it is .

Hi and welcome Brightonbleach - DP and I are first timers too and I'm also a bit worried that we have no idea what we are doing. I'm just reasurring myself that other people manage so we must be able to muddle through the first few weeks too . I've been making lists too and we picked out our pram today (although I won't order it for a few months yet).

Sugarkane - that sounds scary. Your mum sounds about as tactful as mine .

Bella - I am very of you feeling so much movement. I can't wait to feel beanies first kicks.

Fidelma - sounds like a great day. I'm sure I'll be calling on you for lots of advice.

squidgeymiller · 03/05/2009 00:09

Hi all and welcome to brightonbleach .

Hope you feel better soon sugarkane
